I guess because it is the flagship store, I'm supposed to be impressed and give it 4 or 5 stars like everyone else. yeah...I wasn't that impressed. While I don't typically splurge on very high-end clothes (I just don't see the point; I'm not a 'labels' gal), I will occasionally decide I want something special. Besides that, my husband wanted to see the window display, and he needs to upgrade his wardrobe. Well, I'm a bigger girl, so *everything* except shoes and hats is off limits to me. They apparently don't recognize that anyone who wears a size in the double digits exists in this world or might have money to spend. Oh well! They are FAMOUS for hats, which I collect, so hat and shoe shopping it is!! Oh...you don't carry hats in this store? Wait...what? Ok...I'll take a look at your furs and shoes... Very disappointed in the selection. I didn't see anything I wanted to pick up and look at closer, let alone try on. Sigh. Maybe my tastes are just too classic. This store seems to cater to a more modern affair. So I strolled on to the jewelry section. All of it was super chunky, huuuuge pieces that look rather cheap to me. Whatever happened to classic, simple, diamond jewelry? Yeah, they don't carry any of that, either. Alright. Take the husband to the men's department, then. He felt uncomfortable, I think. I couldn't get him to really look at anything, so we left. It was something to see. I enjoyed walking downtown and seeing the building. However, I will not return for shopping purposes. read more

After visiting Marshall Fields in Chicago, Harrods and Selfridges in London, Bloomingdale's in NYC, Galleries Lafeyette and Bon Marche in Paris, I think Neiman Marcus in Downtown Dallas is currently my favorite department store in the World. I have to say currently, because I have yet to make it to the department store Mecca of Tokyo. I also miss the Takishmaya of NYC, it was replaced by a Forever 21, so sad. Every item in this Flagship store has been carefully selected. It also has an amazing collection of Modern and Contemporary Art intermixed along the store. My favorite piece of art is in the Shoe department. I really think more stores should have art showcased along with the merchandise. This store is actually a very tiny department store so, it does not feel overwhelming. The sales staff is super friendly, but almost to the point of annoying. I also recommend having lunch or at least a drink at the Zodiac Room on the 6th floor. Also, the fifth floor does not have any merchandise, but it does have an art glass instillation that is worth a trip up the escalator. I also have to say that the best way to see any Flagship Department store is to take the escalators and really browse through each floor. read more

Click the link during that time and you will be directed to the dash page with deals ranging from 65% to 80% off. If you think you can't afford to shop at Neiman's--think again. Yes, there are some high end items that are still pricey, but there's plenty of things you want priced like you're shopping at Macy's! I got the cutest slip on Keds--silver sequined and extra cushion lining--for $30! Really amazing prices! read more

A trip to Dallas wouldn't be complete without visiting the landmark Neiman Marcus store. The exterior of the building is as it was in 1907 when the store opened. The interior was redone in the 1960s and it still remains in the décor of those times---aqua tones, white floors, and chrome. Classy with an understated elegance. Most of our time was spent in the food and cosmetic department. The lady in charge was very helpful and gave us countless cookies and tasty things to try. We ended up with some gifts for friends. I also spied an area in the cosmetic section where skin and hair care products were sold. I found a Molton Brown shampoo that I like and is hard to find. So we made some good purchases there. A tour of the store was in order and we proceeded to other departments. In every department we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful without being overly solicitous. It was especially noticeable in the fur department as I inspected a mink coat that cost $25,000. The salesman came over and said "I have a key here if you would like to try it on." I politely declined but we had a conversation about furs and some questions about the styles. There was no pressure. What I noted about this store is like a lot of upscale department stores, the quality of the merchandise is beyond compare. If one can afford to shop here you really are getting the best that money can buy. Added to that, the staff is most helpful and approachable. And it's a store that even though many of us wouldn't be able to pay the prices of this merchandise, we could feel comfortable going there. You also can enjoy a nice lunch in the Zodiac Restaurant here! read more

i will freely admit that i am not a neiman gal. yes, they have wonderful offerings, and yes, their customer service is fabulous, but it's just not the way i roll. however, it was during my maiden trip to dallas that i found myself in a hotel practically next door to neiman marcus' flagship store, and i have to say, i was quite impressed! even though i did not purchase a thing, the store, of course, was gorgeously decorated. it was almost like being in an interesting modern museum, which just happenned to have a lot of clothing and makeup. minus a star for ridiculous hours and being closed on sunday, though! read more

Neiman Marcus is the best at creating ambience in fashion. I've been a Neiman's Shopper since I arrived in the DFW area some 25 yrs ago. The downtown store is a time capsule of the Neiman legacy. My favorite store is the newest one at the Willow Bend. It has wonderful contemporary decor and a peaceful ambience. It has a great men's store as well as all the other things that NM stores have. They bring in all the famous designers and serve drinks and food (my favorite activity). NM has the best buyers in the business. They create a desire for the best in apparel and lifestyle. As a kid, this place always seemed magical to me. And even today, it still has that classic old world charm. You really can't go wrong with Neiman Marcus at this location (although parking is still being worked out since the valet area is closed off but you will get your car just be patient with the valet guys.) And yes, it is possible to walk out of the store not completely broke ... until the next time you go back. The Bridal Salon was such a disappointment! If I could give it zero stars, I would! They have very few dresses compared to other boutiques, and every dress is either a size 0 or a 2, so normal sized bodies do not fit inside them. They have to create makeshift extensions with pieces of satin and industrial clips for every dress, and the staff blames you for not being a size 2! Their dresses are exorbitantly priced compared to other boutiques. They pride themselves on saying that their dresses are "couture" dresses that were worn by "runway models who are size 0 or 2". Forget this place and save yourself some time. read more

The service at this Neiman Marcus is HORRIBLE. If you can get someone to help you they are slow, the system is slow, inventory isn't up to date. Returns - just forget about it, even unused items within the return window are judged and frowned upon. I spend a good amount of money with you folks. My first memory of Downtown Dallas Neiman Marcus is from 1953. I was thirteen. My best friend and I used to skip school (we called it playing hooky then) and ride up and down the escalator at NM. The store seemed magical to me even at thirteen. Thank you Neiman Marcus, for making an impression on me that I can still capture today. No, I have never purchased anything there, but it is an anchor for downtown, fun to walk through, and the people who work there are the nicest, most expert you can possibly meet. He helped me order the perfect shoes by calling all over the country and arranging for overnight delivery. Fabulous! This place is everything the Neiman's flagship should be. It's not the largest location, but the service is truly excellent. The morning I was here, I saw both Jim Gold and Ken Downing inspecting merchandise in the store. It's no surprise that the place is spotless and meticulously curated. I also want to say a HUGE thank you to the woman at the Sisley counter who gave me a very generous sample of liquid foundation (which matched my skin tone perfectly) after my Chantecaille foundation dried up on my plane ride over from LA... I had an interview a few hours later and the lady at Sisley literally saved my face. The NM flagship is a must-visit if you ever find yourself in Dallas. read more

I'm definitely a fan of this department store, have been here more times that I can count, I can find here my favorite brands, and love when they have sales of course, who wouldn't. The place itself it's very nice, well staffed, every time I go, they are always making sure if I need any help and really friendly. I think for the prices here it usually depends on what you're looking for, can't expect to get a designer shoe (Christian Louboutin's, Manolo's) for less than what they're actually worth, but if you look for the less expensive designers stuff they definitely have good prices. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced at a department store!! It took Neiman Marcus almost 2 weeks (and 6 phone calls from me) to credit funds back to my credit card for an order that I cancelled the same day it was placed. Apparently if you place an order with Neiman Marcus and cancel the order your credit card funds are still available in their system for sales people to place new unauthorized purchases. read more

I placed an online order for about $3200 on 2 Jan 2016 using PayPal as the selected payment method. I received one PayPal email notification upon completion of the order and NO email from Neiman Marcus. I have received no further email notifications to date. On 12 Jan 2016, the order had not been received, hence, I called NM customer service. I was informed the order was in process with expected delivery date of Sat, 16 Jan 2016. There was no delivery. Because of no delivery, I called NM today. I was told by Phillip, NM customer service rep, that allegedly on 12 Jan, inquiry was sent to the warehouse as to status of my order. The returned response from the warehouse on 14 Jan was that my order was canceled due to no product availability. * Why was I told on 12 Jan that my order would be delivered on 16 Jan? Expectations were set only to be disappointed. * Why was there no further email communication from NM or otherwise, other than the one I received from PayPal upon order placement? * Why is there no online order tracking mechanism other than to call? * Why did I have to contact NM for order status and when was I to be informed that my order was canceled? NM is defined as an ultra-high-end retail merchandiser, but unfortunately, with a very low-end online order experience. read more

I am so disappointed with service that my grandmother and I recieved when interacting with Neiman Marcus today. She tried to order some artwork from the catalog and was told it was a mistake. The catalog said $250, the person on the phone said $640. I contacted them on her behalf and sent pictures of the catalog and the web representative said $640... yet it is posted for $590 on their website!? It is no wonder why they are losing so much market share! I feel like I have been dealing with AT&T, instead of an "upscale retailer". Plus they want to charge $125 for shipping and it says it should be free. read more

I am so so so disappointed that they discontinued the interactive window displays as of this year. This was a tradition with my daughter and she was looking forward to it as it was one of those rare items that many large cities have but Dallas seems to lack. I am sure that the Dallas store is a nice one, and every time I have shopped inside a Neiman's, the sales people are kind and helpful, never overbearing. The exception is the customer service (or lack of) for their catalog/internet shopping. There was trouble verifying an order, and while I understand the need for fraud protection, I had to talk to several different people who each told me different things. I had ordered a garment overnight, and then couldn't even get a guarantee for 2-day delivery, and was charged twice for the item! It is a shame to sell luxury clothing and then treat your customers like nothing. Very dissapointing. Thank goodness for the internet, so I can shop at fabulous boutiques and directly through the vendors themselves..and be treated well. read more

At the strong suggestion of my best friend (a New Yorker by birth), I made an appointment at the Bridal Salon. I had no real intention of purchasing a designer gown - I'm not someone who's dreamed of my "perfect dress" since I was a child and it took some studying to learn what the heck a sweetheart neckline is and the difference between a trumpet and a fit-and-flare. I was worried that the atmosphere would be stuffy or haughty. I could not have been more wrong. We were taken to a large, well-appointed sitting room with 3-way mirror and had the personal attention of the department manager. She clearly paid attention when I described what I liked but also made good suggestions on fits and fabrics . She then introduced us to a designer who was in town who showed us how he could build up the top of a strapless dress that we all loved. Throughout the service was attentive without pressuring, warm without being intrusive, and flattering without being sycophantic. When I explained that I felt that I needed to keep an appointment at another (less expensive) salon, they were supportive and invited us to return anytime, including that afternoon, should we decide to "say yes" to the dress that I loved. After a dramatically inferior experience at this other salon, we did indeed return and I look forward to trips back to the bridal salon at Neiman's for fittings and to enjoy the sense of "privileged wellbeing" (as my friend called it) that their service and setting inspired. read more

My visit to this location was incredible. And I make this statement solely on the customer service experience..it was beyond superior. In every department my friend and I passed through we were greeted with a smile and an offer to help. I live in the Washington metro area and the two local Neimans locations are filled with personnel that don't smile, look your way or ask if you need help. I was shocked that the folks in Dallas were even speaking to me...it was fantastic! The blond woman in the shoe department was especially helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. My friend and I each purchased a pair but spent probably an hour there chatting and having a great time! Thank you Dallas!!! read more
