Cozy Thai spot near Grand theater in Oakland. We went here on a Friday night, but were able to get seated right away. While we were dining in, we noticed a steady stream of take out orders too. We ordered the tom yum chicken soup (4/5), chicken pad kee mao (4/5) which was served with a side salad, chicken red curry served with rice (4/5). We enjoyed all the dishes. The portions are decent and we had leftovers to take back home which they kindly packed up for us. Our server was courteous, prompt and helpful - suggesting options based on our preferences, refilling waters and checking on us regularly. Overall, a solid spot for Thai food! We'll be back!

Fried banana with coconut ice cream. A MUST!

I've been coming to Neecha Thai for over 20 years, enjoying their FBI (Fried Banana with Coconut Ice Cream) dessert with my dad when I was younger and graduating to the veggie version of their Pad Se Ew once I grew up and went vegetarian. They cook their tofu perfectly--firm, browned, and delicious! Nestled amongst a pile of well-seasoned eggplant and basil or strewn atop a bowl of yummy Pad Se-Ew, it's everything you need and more. The Thai Iced Tea is another well-balanced gem: sweet enough without being overwhelming, and always wonderfully smooth. I also love their Veggie Rolls (the fried version... I'm not a Spring Roll type of girl.) The restaurant is a small, pretty intimate space with small wooden tables and chairs and an open kitchen heaving the fragrance of spices and herbs high in the air. (Not in an overpowering way, don't worry.) All of the staff there are absolutely sweet and have always been for the decades I've been coming. I'm glad to see that they're an Oakland spot continuing to thrive and I definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a taste of some quality Thai made with love.

Kao soi was amazing - so much flavor! It had an abundance of protein (we ordered chicken), veggies, noodles, and most importantly it had lots of flavor! The food came out piping hot and the delicious curry flavor tasted like a combo of yellow curry and panag. The curry puffs were also probably the best appetizer I've ever had - fresh and crispy, loved the flavors of the yam and taro! You could taste them but it was also not overwhelming at the same time. I will say - we also ordered the Rad Na and I can't say I was a big fan. The gravy was on the more oily and salty side (like a soy sauce kind of gravy) but if that's your thing then by all means go for it. Also would like to mention that the service was great! Very friendly and I feel like they were very attentive. Also portions are huge! It's a great bang for your buck :)

So yummy! Stopped by for an impromptu post workout lunch. The food was really fresh and the service was wonderful. We each had the pad Thai and shared the corn cakes which were delicious. I also got a side of curry and jasmine rice. The curry is very tasty. Would def recommend checking out!

Kee Mao

A long time favorite for all things Thai. Not too greasy, yet on the sweet side the dishes here from the kee mao to the ribs impress me a lot. Ambiance is very casual, and the service is just okay but the takeout is where this place shines.

It has become my favorite Thai restaurant in the East bay. The food here has big portion, full of Thai species, and diverse varieties. We ordered two different type of rice plate. They both tasted fabulously great. The asked for the Thai medium spicy, and it came out so authentic and delicious. The people here are very efficient and friendly. The place is very family style. I will definitely come back when I come to this area.

This place is best for take out/to go/order out! The space is too small and strangely set-up, however if you drop-in and like super intimate space.... This is for you, first dates or quiet discussions! I arrived and saw how small, and ordered a special! Omg!!!! The food was fresh and delicious... mouthwatering even!!! Super hot after transporting home!!! Loved it! The staff was friendly and quick! Oddly weird to order tho... The Thai iced tea... YUM!!! the interior is clean, but the restroom didn't have options and was dirty! There isn't a baby changing station. Parking garage in the back and street parking.

It does get busy so definitely make a reservation if you can. I got their o-leng martini which is essentially an espresso martini. It's definitely on the sweeter side but that's what I like because I've had espresso martini at different places and sometimes it's a little too bitter from the coffee or the alcohol so this was perfect for me. My sister got their Thai tea which she enjoyed. If you haven't had Thai tea from an actual Thai restaurant, you're missing out because it tastes way better than ordering it from a boba shop. If you like beer, I highly recommend their banana beer. I didn't order it here but I have had a different Thai restaurant and I absolutely loved it. It's a lighter beer which I prefer. For food my sister got the pad thai which you can't go wrong with ordering this. It was delicious and honestly a big portion so we did Togo it home and it was still delicious the next morning. I got their Boat Noodle Soup which was absolutely delicious and very filling. Their slow cooked beef was so tender and the broth was so savory. This was my first time ever ordering boat noodle soup at a Thai restaurant so I'm glad I went out of my comfort zone and tried something new because I loved it. For dessert we shared their mango sticky rice. This is a must have dessert when visiting a Thai restaurant!! The mango was perfectly ripped and the sticky rice with the coconut milk was delicious.

Any party of six ordered the following: - Thai tea (9/10) - the shave ice came a bit melted, but great flavor! - Fresh Young Coconut (10/10) - super refreshing and delicious - Mieng Kum Kung (8.5/10) - $20 is kinda steep for three prawns but it was delicious, so I'm glad I got to try them! (we ordered two of these) - Roti Mataba (9/10) - so delicious and savory! I wish it came with three pieces instead of two, though - Farmhouse Wings (8.5/10) - these were huge pieces of chicken & they were juicy! - Hat Yai Fried Chicken (9/10) - this was yummy & the fried chicken complimented the curry so well (we ordered two of these) - Panang Neua (9/10) - this was a great family-sized portion, and was super tender! - Thai Fried Rice (9/10) - more simple of a dish, but a very delicious fried rice - Pad Thai (10/10) - my favorite pad thai ever!!! It is so saucy, but does not taste the same as leftovers - Pad Ka Pow (10/10) - spicy & delicious! It is one of my new favorites. - Thai Vacation (10/10) - probably my favorite dessert from a restaurant. so sweet & refreshing! Even though there were only six of us, the portions aren't the biggest so we did have to order quite a bit of food. This is something to keep in mind, as it can get expensive. However, this was the most fabulous dinner for a special occasion! Everything tasted phenomenal & the staff were very friendly and attentive. If you tell them it's your birthday, they will all come out and sing to you very loudly, with cow bells! The restaurant itself is super cute, and the decorations are perfect at night. Overall, it was such a wonderful experience!

They serve many authentic Thai and Lao dishes with lots of depth and rich flavors. My favorite dish here is Prig King, a green bean dish served with your protein of choice in a spicy sauce. It pairs well with any rice dish, and fun to share when you're ordering a few entrees. Their rolls, curries and papaya salads are also great choices! The customer service is good, they constantly check in on you and refill your water without interruption. The decor is nice, with a fair amount of seating during lunch hours. They have locations in Berkeley and Hayward as well. Chai Thai is a great spot to have Thai food if you're near the 880. Be prepared to explore their menu, and you'll be happy if you love spice! Asked for it extra saucy and it came out just right--definitely one of the better Pad Thais I've had in a while. The crab gave it a nice richness and I'd happily get it again. Also tried the Tom Yum Noodle Soup with flat noodles. Noodles were cooked well, but the broth didn't have that deep tangy/spicy punch I usually look for in Tom Yum. Not bad, just a little lighter than what I'm used to. Menu marked both dishes as spicy, but they weren't too hot. For me, that was fine since I like a good kick (my spice tolerance is about eating Thai red chilis straight), but most people would probably find the heat level pretty comfortable. Service was quick and friendly, and the place had a relaxed vibe. Not too busy for dinner, with some nice artwork and Thai décor around the room. Overall, I enjoyed it--especially that Chan Pad Poo--and would definitely come back again.
