I love this restaurant. Their vegan/vegetarian fare will trick the pallet of even a committed omnivore such as myself. In fact, I would likely try out vegetarianism if I knew how to make meals this good. Their veggie burger and their Ruben sandwich are as good as any (and I mean compared to those made with beef ) I've ever tasted, filling and healthy. As a health conscious father, it's rare to be able to come to an establishment like Nectar Café where you don't have to scrutinize the ingredients. It happens on occasion, I get it. Perhaps an off day for food preparation, maybe even an off day for service. But three of us decided to give Nectar a try for lunch, and each of us walked out unsatisfied and scratching our heads as to why others think this place is even mildly decent. To start, I waited patiently to place my order at the counter as the owner talked on the phone about oral surgery, and when she finally placed her call on hold she seemed annoyed. I seriously overpaid for "nachos" (I use the term loosely, as I received a plate of store bought chips with dried cheese that was over cooked when it was melted in the microwave.) And bonus - you had to pay extra for the normal and basic nacho accoutrements.... Green onion? $1 more. Jalapeño? $1 more. Guacamole? Take out a second mortgage. Out of the three of us, one was called to the counter to pick up her food. (I'm sorry, why do you ask for tips with a huge sign and jar, then make it a pain to opt out of giving a tip when charging a credit card when you have to walk up to a counter to place your order and then have to fetch your own silverware and food when you scream out our name?) Meanwhile, after waiting an excessive amount of time in the empty restaurant, employees brought orders to the two of us remaining. Out of the three of us, not one liked the food, it was tasteless, not fresh and below basic. It sucks to leave a restaurant that you paid decent money to and have to go to a pizza joint to feel like you actually had lunch. Also, isn't is required for all restaurants to have a restroom? They don't. Which is a pity if you are feeling the way we did after we had a few bites. read more

I started eating here quite a while ago, was delicious. I went this year on Mother's Day, was very disappointed. Not what I ordered, one egg of two was way over poached. Had chorizo on the benedict, not on the menu, didn't want it. Took two people to bring dessert, it was still frozen! Said something to the owner, his reply was they come frozen!! Sad. Especially considering the price!! Went again last week with my daughter, terrible!! Had a sandwich, got almost to the end, and bit into something that resembled a small rock! My daughter asked for no cheese on her nachos, they were covered with it! I don't know what has happened, but it is not the same. Very sad!!! read more

Watched the waiter turn someone away 25 minutes before closing because they already cleaned up. Same waiter never checked on us one time. The enchiladas were not fit for my dog. We had to stop at another place on the way home because everyone was still hungry. The guacamole was great and it was clean, so 2 stars. read more

My friend and I went here for dinner at about 6:20 where it was reletively slow. There's a sign up front that said to have and seat and they'll be right with you. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes and then I eventually went to the counter to get menus for ourselves, which would have been fine if we were informed to do this. Then we were there for almost an hour total before the food came out. We ordered the supreme nachos without jalapeños (which I have gotten before and are actually quite delicious). Then after the long wait they finally came out and we find after eating a few that they were littered with jalapeño bits. Overall the food can be good, but the service (although the employees are nice) seems quite lacking, especially when busy. read more

This place is great! I had a burger made with quinoa, lentils, and beets (i think), over a bed of lettuce and it was amazing. My kids got the nachos and loved them. We sat outside with our dogs and had a wonderful time. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

We got two wraps, one was pretty good, the other was mediocre. But we waited over 20 min for our food, finally went inside to ask and they said they lost our ticket. Which, ok, sometimes it happens. But when they finally brought out our food, instead of an easy apology, the guy says, "I checked the register and it was ten minutes not 20." So not only did we wait over 20 minutes, but the guy was super rude. Not a good way to run your over-priced business. Also, the guacamole was just mushed up avocado. Love this new restaurant ~ fantastically fresh and delicious food at an affordable price. We had the lentil soup today, which was brothy, lemony, with a little pesto, absolutely delicious. My Thai wrap had the perfect blend of veggies, sauce, and crunch. I plan on eating here several times a week because I'm interested in following more of a whole foods diet, so feel so lucky to have this new addition to Auburn dining. read more

The food was pretty good, but considering the price it could have been better. I was excited to have a vegan friendly restaurant in Auburn that I could go to when visiting from Denver. We ordered four meals and received two relatively quickly. The second two didn't come for another twenty minutes. The staff was very rude when we inquired about the wait. This place is truly a gem!! It's so refreshing to find an organic vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the area ... and with DELICIOUS food to boot! Neat selection of food and service with a smile. The California Burgers were awesome. However, the Zucchini Ramen Bowl was a bit disappointing. Will add on that I've had the humus plate (tasty humas!), the Yumwich and the Pad Thai. I've also had soup which was good. All the food was really tasty. The yum wich take s longer to cook so knowing that up front is important. The Pad Thai is tasty, although it wasn't enough for just a lunch meal. I really liked all of these. The decor is great and they keep it spotless which is something I look for. It is organic and priced well for the quality of what you are getting.
