Beautiful park for hiking biking or relaxing. Beautiful views has a treehouse overlooking the treetops. Waterfalls throughout the gorge. Super cool place

This isnone of the most relaxing park with a waterfall. Note, it can be dangerous, the rocks to walk in are slippery, sandals are not the best option to do this walk. We found the waterfall doing a hike thru the back of the park. I still didn't figure out the front official entrance. There is no lifeguard on duty, swim at your own risk. Weekdays are more empty, Weekends there are more visitors. People do jump off to the big waterfall and it will be hard to get back up as the rocks are sooo slippery. The water feels so clean, natural, and relaxing. Oh the mosquito bites are hurtful, shower yourself with bug repellent to void being the best meal of the day to the mosquitoes as I was.

I spent two days in Scranton and loved this town and its charm. Most well known as the city where The Office takes place, Nay Aug Park was my favorite attraction in Scranton and my favorite park I visited on my entire New York/Pennsylvania road trip. It's a breathtaking park. There are a bunch of trails and areas to check out but if you're looking for the greatest hits, I'd check out a few in particular. The treehouse is a highlight as it provides a great few of the gorge and the park in general from high up. Another highlights it the bridge. Regardless of which trail you choose, spend some time close to the gorge and hear the beauty of the water and nature at its finest. This is a must-visit while in Scranton!

I highly recommend coming here and checking this park out. My husband and I only decided to do the tree house aspect of it , but there was tons of other parts of the park we wanted to check out. It was a bit too hot outside to walk around and do anything. We will have to come back again and do the trail to go down and see the waterfall. I would highly recommend coming here and checking this spot out.

Great park for a nice Saturday adventure. So much to do here, many trails, picnic spot, pavilion, cat zoo(only on Wednesdays), waterfall, mines, tree house, garden & much more. Video below Next to it the Everhart museum so def check that out as well!! Tickets are $3 for the museum

Very nice park located within Scranton city limits - packed with trails, treehouse, bridge, museum, ...even a waterfall! Our main focus was hiking down to the falls & visiting the Everhart Museum. Trails were nice - much easier than our trip to Ricketts Glen 2 days earlier. ;) We were here at just about the peak of the Fall leaf color-change season, so the park was very photogenic. Great mashup of standard metro park & wooded trails - highly recommended!

One of the bright spots in an otherwise decaying town. Easy trails, a beautiful waterfall, and treehouse, among other things makes this a great place for adults and children. Too bad the pool is closed due to COVID. While here and if it's open, visit the Everheart Museum. Love that place! Free and plentiful parking makes this an easy visit and nice place to get lost in nature for a few hours. Stop by if you're ever in town.

Beautiful park with waterfall. It's a nice place to walk around. Great to enjoy a nice warm sunny day. The walking trail can be somewhat icy during the winter but it's not so bad. Definitely worth visiting if you are nearby.

Nay Aug Park is the largest park in Scranton. These days it's a nice local beauty spot, with trails highlighting the lovely Nay Aug Gorge. But it also has a fascinating history some guests may enjoy looking into. (The park has been the site of an amusement park and a zoo in days gone by.) I visited Nay Aug Park with my family this previous spring, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The main trails weren't excessively difficult to walk along. The more vertical foot paths weren't quite as smooth, but they weren't that strenuous to navigate, either. We liked being able to take in the views of the park from both a lower viewing platform and an elevated footbridge. Plus, the weather was perfect that day! It offered a great backdrop to the relaxing sounds of the wind and the water. It's worth noting, the park also houses picnic areas and a couple swimming pools. My family was not interested in either during our visit, but which I'm sure other guests might be! With great views, fairly accessible trails, and family-friendly areas, Nay Aug Park is well worth your time if you're in the Scranton area. It's not a particularly giant park by any means, but it's a lovely spot of green that brightens up the city. Happy trekking, park goers!

As anyone who has ever visited downtown Scranton can attest, that part of the city is pretty much an armpit that stinks like hell. Shitty roads, the disappointment that is Steamtown, the mall which at this point borders on an embarrassment plus so much more. It's like the slogan of the town should be "Scranton, why bother?" With that said, Nay Aug Park is an amazing natural gem that is still the best thing in the area. The Nay Aug Gorge is easily the most well known and visited part of the park. The gorge has been cut over time by Roaring Brook and offers some really great views of that area of the park while hiking the trails. The most easily accessible spot to see the gorge is from the the Paul Kanjorski Bridge. The bridge is a short walk from the main parking lots and provides an excellent overview of Roaring Brook and the gorge. The other way to get a nice overview is to visit the David Wenzel Tree House. Not as good of a view as the bridge due to being farther away from the water and from the heavy tree coverage but none the less it's still a unique experience. Nay Aug as mentioned prior has some hiking trails but I use that term loosely because nothing is terribly difficult. The main trail is the Davis Trail which is about a two mile loop. The other trail worth hitting is the overlook trail which is a short stub off of Davis which takes you down close to the main set of waterfalls. Nay Aug also has the Everhart Museum which is the largest public museum in NE PA. I've never been but I've only read good things about it. There's a also a decent size wooden kids playground, two Olympic sized swimming pools which are open seasonally for both residents and non-residents at different prices for each group, a large Christmas light display and a good amount of parking/space for special events. Speaking of special events, what a treat it was to inadvertently show up during the Pennsylvania Cannabis Festival. All I can say about that is, Oh Boy! If you're in the area Nay Aug area, the park is worth a stop Fo Sho!.

    Nay Aug Gorge on 3/14/20.

It's a huge park with plenty to see. I was there on 3/14/20, but it was easy to see how busy it could get in the Spring & Summer. Walking down to the gorge can be done through a few different trails. It would be nice if they were better marked, but you won't get lost. Unfortunately, many of the railings and fixtures have graffiti done with Sharpies. People have no respect. The foot bridge is a great place to see the waterfalls upstream and down.

While checking for places in Scranton area to walk and hike I came across Nay Aug. didn't look like much online and even in yelp. My experience was great. Trails were a variety of paved, gravel, mulched and plenty of off shoots. Wide open space with limited restrictions and surprisingly clean. Multiple areas to view a decent waterfall and a covered pedestrian bridge. Multiple overlooks for all levels of hikers. Trail map is available it has decent levels and even a wooden playground for kids. All in all a great gem in an unlikely area. A must do for the area.

AWESOME PARK! I absolutely LUV LUV LUV city parks! They are so fabulous. And this one is no exception. It is expansive with lots of fabulous sites along a varied selection of trails. It's also heavily shaded so it's wonderful to use during the Summer months even when it's hot & humid out! It's located up by the Hospital & the Everjart Museum of American Art. There's a public pool nearby & a fabulous waterfall. The river cuts right thru the park.

They have two or three bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a fire ring. They are fully furnished and climate controlled, which is nice in the winter and summer. However, there is no WiFi or cell service (unless you have A T and T) so be mindful of that when you book. I have never stayed at the campsites, so I cant speak for accommodations there. Activities: There's so much to do around the park, including boating or swimming at Lake Jean, exploring the many miles of trails, or having a family barbecue. The most famous trail in the park, the Falls Trail, is a must-hike for visitors. The trail can be steep, rocky, and slippery, and the main loop (not including the bottom three falls) runs about 5 miles, which is longer than the advertised distance, so be prepared. Bring good shoes and lots of water and expect some amazing views of the falls. The other trails in the park are also beautiful, albeit far less traveled. I did the 13 mile loop from cherry run to mountain springs road to the mountain springs trail, and it was a great distance and not too steep. We went past the old Lake Leigh dam breast and an unnamed waterfall with a nice swimming hole. The cherry run and mountain springs trails have lots of tall grass, so make sure to wear long pants in case of ticks. Additionally, the spring runs right through portions of the mountain springs trail, so be prepared to get your feet a little wet. I look forward to each year I get to go to Ricketts and even though I am sad I'm home, I'm super excited for next year!

For 3 years running The Plan has been to go to Acadia. First year: someone went to an international wedding of 500 people and got the Rona Second year: someone bought a big rig and rates were in the toilet Third year: Someone was tired and the planing was overwhelming I just knew this would be The Year. Sike - Rain and thunderstorms forecasted from May 27-June 4 and we had a campsite lmaaoooooo But one thing about me - I'm gon pivot every time. So we booked a Hipcamp and headed to PA instead. I wanted open land, dark skies, and opportunities to hike. Ricketts was only 10 minutes away!! All I knew about this park beforehand was that it was a waterfall paradise. We had our dog with us and arrived at Ricketts around 4pm on a Sunday. We checked out some of the small falls at the trailhead then did the Evergreen Trail. Beautiful view of Adams Falls, a lovely wooded walk through an old growth forest, and some climbs here and there to keep your heart rate up. I love when Wesley goes out on the trails - he sniffs everything, bounds ahead to scout the path, and patiently waits until I can clear obstacles. Still, given the height and uneven terrain of even this shorter trail in the park, I would likely return without him to take on some of the more challenging routes. Making sure he didn't fly off the ledge and I didn't fall off the stone steps had my nervous system on fire lol. I'm also old now and believe feet should always stay rooted to the floor. So yeah. The park is very dog friendly and we love that. But for me and mine, maybe we'll come solo next time. Summed Up: Beautiful Ethereal Calming Steep Heights Dog-friendly Free Do it!
