It looks like an office for the Department of Resources to use and says nothing about the campground on the main road. HUGE, private sites but they are short. Anything over 30' wouldn't fit on most of the sites. Well kept campground with fire pit, grill and picnic table. Level and wooded. Can definitely tell it was built when longer RV's were just a dream! We didn't get any pictures here because it rained the entire time we were there. Enjoyed the quiet! We camped here September 20-23, 2021. Site #329. We never had any contact with any of the staff here. The park office was closed both times we tried to visit. We did have contact with the camp host for having our dogs off leash while we got them out of the Jeep and in to the camper. I thought this was a little extreme especially since we were the only camper at that end of the campground and it was for less than a minute. Extreme. Highly Recommend if you are tent camping or less than 30 feet long.

The entire lake encompasses 52 miles of shoreline, 5,700 acres, and is 13 miles long. If you're interested in a boat tour, they have them available and we saw many on the lake. The trail will take you through various types of terrain, but they're all enjoyable and full of sites to see. As you're making your way through the tree filled section of the trail, don't forget to look for the geocaches that are hidden throughout. It is fun to hunt and each geocache contains cool items.

It's right past the Camelback resort, so if it isn't crowded there, traffic should be a breeze getting to the park. The Indian Trail was a bit rocky and a little steep at parts, but the blazes are easy to follow, and the trail was doable for beginners. Make sure you wear good, sturdy shoes. There was plenty of parking and some picnic tables nearby.

Note near the parking lot 3 there's a trailhead with a quest book, it's sweet to leave some memories there. The trails are well marked but some are quite steep, be aware of the elevation changes. There's beautiful lookouts and the view from the top is pristine. Many places to just sit, enjoy and meditate. Only sometimes there's mindless people blasting loud music, but luckily most times you can enjoy the nature in silence at the mountain top. Tip: download a map from the park website before hitting the trails, it will help you greatly to locate yourself while hiking.

There is a separate…read moreoffice/cabin about a 3 min drive from the boat launch area for you to get a license for your boats, kayaks, etc. There are picnic tables/shelters, areas to barbecue, a playground, and beach area. During summers, these areas can get really busy so I suggest coming early to claim a table/shelter. The 5 mile trail around the lake is mostly flat, a great walk for any age. My family and I also enjoy picking blueberries from the bushes that line the lake. September is when the fall foliage begins to come out but I would wait a bit longer before seeing the beautiful changing leaves!

The hike was moderate, highly recommend hiking boots, as its down hill short trial, but well worth the view of the 25 foot water fall. We originally came to Nay Aug Park because we wanted to visit the Everhart Museum, and we did, but…read morewe had no idea that this park had so much to explore! We ended up walking our dog over to the tree house overlook and the views of the gorge and the water below were genuinely breathtaking. Along the way, we made time to check out Brooks Coal Mine which is an interesting piece of history. It's a small, shallow mind that was built more than 100 years ago and I love that there is a memorial there to all the coal miners who have lost their lives working in the mine. We walked through shaded paths and green spaces taking in the scenery and just really enjoying the vibes here. There were lots of trees and greenspace with quiet benches and so many things to look at. We actually got really excited when we spotted a bug that we had never seen before. I added a photo below and maybe I sound like a crazy person but I'm not from this area. I learned afterwards that it was a spotted lantern fly. Apparently that's not a great thing for the ecosystem and they're kind of a n invasive pest, but you learn something new everyday right? I honestly wish we had planned for more time at the park itself, but we did stay for about an hour and really enjoyed our walk and the fact that our dog was having such a lovely time here. I still feel like there was more for us to see. Parking was easy and entry was free. If you are in the area and just want to stretch your legs or take in the beautiful nature, this is definitely a place to check out.

I have enjoyed walking the loop trail around this park's central lake many times over the past few…read moreyears. It is a relatively easy walk - perhaps 1-1.5 miles long - starting from the picnic/playground area and going around the edge of the lake. Most recently when I visited the park there were plenty of people fishing for the bass and trout that the lake is stocked with annually. The walk was extra beautiful during this time in the fall with the hillsides speckled with reds, oranges and yellows due to the changing leaves. I highly recommend enjoying what this park has to offer - even off season - as it is somewhat secluded yet easy to access via car.
