The bang for the buck in terms of the walking in return for the views is simply splendid! This park offers shelters and brick and mortar bathrooms as well. The crowd is thin and courteous. We visited this park on a lovely October morning. This park is a great spot for those with young children or for people who cannot do strenuous hikes. There is some easy walking, some steps, some inclines/declines but nothing requiring strenuous effort. If you are older or not used to hiking, a walking pole might be beneficial. You will get some lovely views of gentle waterfalls. This loop is relatively short which also makes it ideal for young children or older adults. Beginning the loop on the right side (counterclockwise) is a bit less strenuous than going left (clockwise). There are compost bathroom facilities at the trailhead. read more

If you're a waterfall junkie (I never knew there was such a sub-culture but there is and no I'm not talking about the Urban Dictionary version of waterfall which involves urinating on foreheads) and want to see multiple falls with minimal effort, this is your spot. Everything about this park is easy. The entrance is right off of Silver Lake Road and compared to the other parking lots of neighboring waterfalls there's a ton of spaces here so unless you show up on a crazy weekend day or a major holiday parking should be simple. The loop trail is well maintained and a very easy mile and a half that will take you around the three falls (Factory Falls, Fulmer Falls, Deer Leap Falls) along with crossing Dingmans Creek. While you certainly could just walk down to Deer Leap then turn around, take the time to walk the entire loop on both sides of the creek as there are many excellent vantage points for picture taking or for just looking, listening and pondering. Now with this of course comes a few admonishments for the "you're going to ruin it for the rest of us crowd": 1. Don't be an asshole and use the picnic area and not clean up after yourself. It's not uncommon to find bottles and cans (clap your hands) on the ground. There are big signs in both the parking lot area and near the picnic area letting you know that everything is carry in/carry out. 2. Don't be an asshole and bring your dog, hamster or toucan. Sorry but no pets. 3. Don't be an asshole by taking a ghetto swim at the bottom of Deer Leap Falls. Sure it's hot but find a real pool because no one needs you dropping a deuce in the creek or having all of your Guido cologne pollute the water. If you're looking for a more strenuous hike to falls that are more off the beaten path plenty of those exist within the confines of the National Park or nearby but if you want the McFalls experience with a little history thrown in (the CCC built a large part of the trails/services on site plus there are some wool mill ruins on the grounds) this is your spot. A must see, no doubt. read more

This place is insaaane! Basically a giant playground for nature lovers and just another reason to make one realize how beautiful the earth really is. Visited the park on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we were initially turned away due to lack of parking. Came back about 10 minutes later and we were good to go. There are 3 main waterfalls at this park. All 3 are clearly labeled where to go and you follow the wooden paths consisting of bridges and A LOT of stairs. It's just about a mile and a half loop so for most people it is a do-able walk. There are plenty of picnic tables here as well if you want to enjoy some lunch here. Bathrooms at the trailhead as well! One thing they enforce strictly here is no swimming. We were reminded multiple times by the ladies at the entrance. When we got down to the bottom of the last waterfall there were people wading in up to their knees in the water. A few minutes later and the rangers were storming down coming to give tickets. Being as this place is part of the National Parks System, they take the rules very seriously and will bust you for anything. So just find somewhere else to swim! If you're in the area, don't miss this place. read more

Beautiful place to enjoy nature. Gorgeous scenery. A few different paths to take.Could easily spend hours walking and taking it all in. Clean Bathrooms at the entrance of the park. A perfect destination for those who are looking for a calm hike. Folks who can not walk for long periods of time or who have disabilities with walking I do not recommend. It's made up of dirt paths and there are a few areas in where you can lose your footing. read more

Its about time they re-opened this place. The last time I came to this park was 3 years ago just before they closed the park. They really did a great job restoring this park its totally a great place to go if you want to hike without really hiking. The trails are paved really nicely and clearly. You can find the water falls easily just follow the signs. The stairs make climbing up and down hills much easier and everyone literally can enjoy this park. They did reconfigure the park a little by removing and changed some of the trails. Its a great place to spend a day or weekend to get out of the city. read more

Once part of the mill boom of this area then bought by George Childs with the intent to create a restorative natural destination for all. Great history from early 1800's till now and 3 different waterfalls to view - with very easy incredibly managed trails/paths and also some off road passages where you can see people have made their way. An excellent little tidbit about local history is learned from the signposts around the trails. FDR's Conservation Corps put on work here so you also learn a bit about them Swimming/rock climbing discouraged/not allowed. A great hour or two outdoors read more

Awesome place! It's an easy hike so you can bring your kids and lazy friends with you. They'll be rewarded by 3 breathtaking waterfalls. There are picnic tables at the entrance of the park. Restrooms are clean. Oh and I think it's best to come here after a rainfall because a friend of ours went and the waterfalls wasn't as robust as when we came and it rained 2 days prior. Spectacular Park..as good as it gets with its beautiful waterfalls and wonderful trails. Sadly, after a really bad storm in 2018, it closed and it has still nor re-opened after several years due to the extensive damage to the trails. What a shame! This park is not to be missed. I realize state money for park repairs is tight, but this is a state treasure and its repair needs to be prioritized. Come on! Closed since 2018?? Childs park is a great place to hike with your kids, friends, family members or your significant other. Its definitely a romantic place. The 3 waterfalls are clean, refreshing and breathtaking. You can choose to swim in the icy cool waters on a hot day, or just laze around on Rocky yet flat surfaces. There are some days of the week where it will feel like its just you and nature...although frequented on the weekends by many. So pack a lunch, picnic basket, two bottles of wine, a blanket and a back pack...And hike your way to this beautiful Pennsylvania waterfall. read more

I came up to Pa to explore Bushkill falls but discovered there were many other beautiful falls to visit. I did Bushkill, Dingmans and this one. George W Childs may have been my favorite. Pluses: It's free, there's a decent amount of parking, beautiful trails, well kept, Easy walk to the main falls and even getting to the other ones wasnt too bad. Minuses: if you need to use the bathroom do so before you get there. I didn't actually use the bathroom but just standing outside I almost vomited, the smell was just horrific. The falls are not as large as Bushkill or Dingman. I say if you're in the area hit them all up. All quite different and all are just breathtaking read more

The drive getting there is very nice passing cornfields on 209. We packed lunches, snacks and plenty of water to have there and there were a few picnic bench areas a little way into the trail. This park is extremely well kept and clean. They have porta potties in the parking lot before the trails start and they're fairly clean for what they are w hand sanitizer. The walking trail is fairly easy but sneakers are recommended. The trails are close to the water w scenic stops to look down. There are signs that say no swimming but i think it's more like swim at your own risk. The water was freezing but what a great experience! If you want to go into the water i recommend water shoes. Since relocating to Dingmans Ferry a few years back, we've found so many places nearby to enjoy hiking in the woods. That said, Child's Park is one of our favorites. Fairly large parking area, rest rooms, and a map are located at the top of the trail. Park officially opens for the season Memorial Day Weekend, usually closes at the first snow in the fall. First leg of the trail is handicap accessible and leads to a scenic overlook of the creek and falls. From there downward, though, the trail can be a challenge for the less-than-surefooted! Lovely views of both Fulmer and Deer Leap Falls. Some folks have been known to go for a dip at the base of Deer Leap, but swimming is officially prohibited. No pets, only service dogs allowed, which bums us out. Our labs would love it there! read more

A nice park with a loop where you can view multiple waterfalls. The walk is sometimes rocky, but isn't too difficult. The falls are beautiful. It was a warm summer day so there were a lot of people in the water and sitting at the bottom of the falls so pictures weren't as nice as they could be. read more

A great place to go for a little walk and view some waterfalls. This is a place to go to if you want to see some good views without really hiking. The trail here is a little over a mile with a lot of stops for nice pictures and rest areas. Swimming is prohibited at the bottom of the falls but you will definitely still see a lot of people swimming. It can get very crowded on the weekends which is my only complaint. However all in all, well maintained trails, clean waterfalls, and helpful rangers and volunteers give this park four stars! I will definitely come back again. read more

This place is kind of hard to find because there is no office here or official website. It's on Silver Lake Rd near Dingman's Ferry. This is the first time I have considered not posting something on Yelp because I honestly don't want anyone to read it, this is one the most beautiful place I have ever been to. There are a number of gorgeous waterfalls (perfect for photographing and despite the signs saying no swimming, there is swimming going on). There are also a good deal of picnic tables and places to just hang out. They have a small parking lot and bathroom in the entrance. I found this place on trails.com but this really isn't a good place to hike, it does however have a really nice maintained path around the park (about a mile and a half i think) which includes a lot of wooden stairs and railings which oddly doesn't detract from the outdoorsy beauty of the place as one might think it would. This place is so awesome in fact I came back a week later and plan many more visits in the future (its about 75miles or 1hr 45min from NYC) P.S. Don't spread the word on this one... read more

I have been here before and after the restoration now. They basically re-did the walkways and bridges... everything looks more modern and resembles a tourist attraction. This is just my opinion, but I really liked the natural look the park used to have... My biggest fear was that they would make it very hard to swim or go in the water... this is not true. There is a lot more fencing (with sort of a mesh), but there are ways in and no one really seemed to care. (Kids were jumping off the cliffs, people were swimming etc...) Overall, I do recommend you check this park out if you've never been. I just wanted to provide some feedback on the restoration. read more

A beautiful place for both a light hike and a picnic. The waterfalls are beautiful and the trails are easy.

Excellent hiking for small children or those with accessibility issues. Three outstanding waterfalls all within a 1.4 mile loop. Lots of stairs, so be warned. The area was teens by with wildlife, our kids especially enjoyed the large numbers of chipmunks. they even got to see a snake in the wild, so they were very excited. read more

This is a great stop if you want to see three of the waterfalls in the Delaware Water Gap region in one stop. Trails are very well laid out. No visitors center, but there are picnic sites and restrooms in or near the parking lot. This park is a bit of a drive from Rt 209, but worth the effort and the 1 - 2hrs it will take to see the three falls. Admission is free too. read more

I went in the spring. The lowest waterfall was robust! swimmming in it was like swimming in an endless pool, you could swim forever and not go anywhere due to the force of the water from the waterfall. That having been said, I have heard from friends, that they have picked up enforcement and are no longer allowing people to swim in the lower falls. Is this correct? Can someone let me know? I was thinking of going there this fall, but may go somewhere else if this is not allowed. (I know they enforce no swimming in waterfall 1 and 2 because people were trying to cliff dive into them. But I thought they were allowing swimming at waterfall number 3 as long as it was on the down-low.) Anyhow, let me know what the status is? thanks. It's a great park. A great swim! There are a number of really wonderful places to photograph waterfalls in the Delaware Water Gap NRA, and Childs Park is one of my faves. Great place to bring young children or extended family. The picnic area is quite nice. A bit too touristy for my tastes. Watch for the cliff jumpers......the rangers go nuts when they see that. They always have their ticket pads at the ready. read more
