Main Fall

This place around been around for many years. I wanted to bring some new visitors to see this place so I paid the $22 per adult admission. The woofer bridges and walkways are maintained so it's worth paying to support them. Visiting mid May this time and the falls had rushing water which made it prettier than later in the year. Not sure why the Main Fall was brownish colored but the rainbows made it prettier than it would've been without them. Compared to Hawaii waterfalls or Niagara Falls, not worth coming here. But if you like waterfalls and walking in the woods, take the Red Trail and you can enjoy a nice hike in the Poconos. It took us 2 hours with stops at the falls for photos (map said about 2.5 hours or something like that). Beware -- lots of stairs up and down. Also flooded and muddy area after rainfall if you take Red Trail.

Went to check out bushkill falls while in the area. We just wanted to be with nature and view some water falls. It was pricy at $22 per person and $20 each for the seniors. We only did a quick visit of the green trail and part of the yellow before departing. The waterfalls were nice but we thought the price was a little much for party of 4.

I am a novice hiker who loves to chase waterfalls and bask in nature. What an amazing adventure I experienced at Bushkill Falls. I believe there is a total of 8 waterfalls and the amount you see depends on the trail you choose to hike. There are different options available for your level of comfort and expertise in hiking. Of course, being the brave soul that I am - I chose the level that would allow to see each waterfall, despite not being an avid hiker. Also, there is an admission fee, a few dollars more on weekends/holidays. But there is no time limit. This experience came at a pivotal point during my journey of self-healing and exploring via nature. I do not regret anything about it. It was beautiful, challenging, and exhilarating. I would go again, and I plan to when the cold season ends.

Bushkill Falls are obviously some of the most classic falls in the Pocono region. Access to the park will set you back $20 per person but I felt it was very much worth it consider the well kept facilities and miles of boardwalk making the trek easier. As I was with my mother, I wanted to ensure the most seamless experience. There are four trails available in the park varying in difficulty level. For those with mobility issues, the green trail offers a beautiful view of the falls and lasts only 15 minutes. A perfect view of the main falls and most accessible for all fitness levels. We decided on the yellow trail which is an estimated 45 minutes. It passes by eight of the falls I believe and was very scenic and comfortable for those with moderate fitness. If you are looking for more, the blue and red trails offer a longer trek. The red trail being the most difficult offers a more rugged experience going off the boardwalk and into the Forrest. You can really customize the experience based on your desired goals. Ultimately, we were pleased with the yellow trail and what we were able to see on it! Probably the best option for families. Also available on property were very clean restrooms, a Native American museum, two gift shops and a concession with picnic tables. The parking was ample. We were able to pack a picnic and enjoy it onsite. All in all, this is probably a half day activity if you sit for lunch and browse through the museum and shop.

Bushkill Falls was a good experience. It took us a few minutes to find parking when we arrived as the lots were full. Ticket purchase was quick and simple. The stairs are a bit scary as you're climbing down ( especially if you have a fear of fights) but the views of the fall make it worth while. We didn't follow a specific trail and just went in any direction we felt like and it worked out as we got to see the different sides of the grounds. It is an intense activity because of all the stairs but doable.

A knockout fall extravaganza! I don't think anything can replace actually being there to explore with own feet and senses, but suffice it to say that Bushkill ranks amongst my all-time faves now. Let me count the ways: they've done a great job laying down and maintaining seemingly endless boardwalk that I'm sure help visitors get that much closer to all Bushkill has to offer. That said, the trek is not wheelchair accessible. The main fall is spectacular on many levels but there are several other beautiful falls dotted around the park, and each didn't fail to amaze us (and a great rest stop). The trail that's described as rocky and rugged really are rocky and rugged, but for us the extra hike was more than with it. All trails are otherwise easy to navigate and clearly marked, and it didn't take me long after we bought our tickets to say, 'wow, this is worth every penny.' Parking is aplenty, there's a gift shop, a cafeteria, and a maze that wasn't open when we visited in September.

So we came here expecting an amazing hike as they said this hike was moderate. We got there and first thing is first $20 dollars a person. Not car but person. I asked the person does this trail massage you to? She didn't find it funny. Anyway, it's really not much of a trail but more of stairs. There is 1 large water fall but it wasn't like crazy. When you say the Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania. I'm expecting this large waterfall. It was ok. It wasn't hard at all the only part were my friends not being in shape to walk the stairs lol. I wouldn't come back.

So pretty here.Great 4 mile hike

Traveled from NJ to this falls .It was 1 of the nicer places have hiked and very well kept.Since it was a private property they charged $20 a person which I thought was a little pricey but the grounds were easy to walk through since most were on nice wooden steps and stairs. Trust me after doing all 4 trails the calves and quads will be screaming. Were the trails hard ? Not compared to ones used to in Scottsdale. Technical? Not really. It was a nice place to walk with family and enjoy the day. Saw some beautiful views but not mountains as were hoping.

This was a beautiful hike! To enter the hiking area, it was $20 which felt a little much, but I knew that before I got there. Once we got to the trails we were able to see some nice waterfalls. Unfortunately most of the leaves had fallen, which took away from the view. A lot of the trail was actually just stairs to parts of trails. Overall, I enjoyed the hike, but I'm not sure if I'd spend the money again!

He's having a great time!

Bushkill Falls is a lovely place filled with numerous waterfalls, extensive natural beauty, and lots of fun hiking. It's a privately-owned park, so National Park passes won't work here. There's a large parking lot and numerous concessions and shops around the parking lot. Tickets are $20/person and they're open from April 1st through Halloween. The trails are very fun and there's lots of stairs so you can get a view of the waterfalls from above them and from the base of most of the falls. The trails are fairly easy and shouldn't be a big deal for most people unless they have a mobility issue. Make sure to bring water as well as summer in this part of PA gets humid. Bushkill is a wonderful place and one that we've visited many times over the years. You'll have a great time hiking here!

Right after paying, before entering the trail, they have this little area with different displays...they change it around from time to time

During our family Poconos trip, my sister, cousin, daughter and I decided to come back to the Falls for a little hike. I was not sure how my kiddo would fare with a 45 minute hike up and down steep trails. When we first came here years ago, my kid was around 12 months and we didn't pack a carrier with us so we were not able to go on the hike. You can't take a stroller with you. This time we were prepared and she is now able to walk on her own. Kids 3 and under are free or otherwise, $9, and adults are around $15. We paid, got a map and entered the trail. It's one price to enter and you can choose whoever path you'd like. If you want to bring a furry companion, youelre welcome to it. We saw a few people with their pooches. The beginning paths are mostly steps that are very rustic, built on the natural elevations. They are pretty steep so you definitely need to watch your step. My kiddo did really well with the walking but wanted me to carry her when she spotted some spider webs on the steps. We made it to the different levels of the falls and had some great photo ops. I did notice many of the pamphlets that they provide you at entry. People should make a better effort of keeping their trash with them and disposing of it properly. There were so many papers in the water. Like, why come to appreciate nature, only to throw garbage on it? It was irritating to see. We walked all the way to the beginning of the intermediate/difficult trails. This was where the man-made pathway disappeared and it is all nature. They have clear markings on the trees, in different colors, to indicate the difficulty of the trails so you know where to go. I could have gone further but we were already tired from an early morning workout and everything else we had done on the trip up to that point so we decided to turn back. It's definitely best to visit during the off-season. We've come here in the summer and it was crazy packed, having to park so far away from everything, closer to the lake that you pass coming into the parking lot. This time around, it was a lot more scarce, despite it being a holiday where kids were off from school. It was also a weekday and with parents still having to work, that's where we probably lucked out. I read some people complaining about the price but it's not that bad, especially if you're doing a longer hike. If you're just going to see the falls, the price is pretty steep. The easiest trail is supposed to be 45 minutes but it was way shorter than that. We checked out the gift shops and picked up some trinkets after our hike. We also got some ice-cream and fudge to take back home with us. Bushkill Falls is a fun time whenever we come to the Poconos. I would love to do the hike again when our tot is a little older.

This is one of my absolute favorite places in the world!! Highly recommend. There are trails for all. It is very well-maintained. The cost for adult admission was $19.50 when I was last there in a Sunday. Dogs are allowed on the trails. Frustrated that dogs aren't even allowed in souvenir shop one or two at a time. I had to get my pre paid ticket stamped in the shop. I saw things I would have purchased. I could not leave my dog alone outside so I carried her in and stood by the door. When a business says pet friendly, I wish they would find a way to make the shops accessible also. Next time I go, my dog will be going as my service dog (she's been official for a month). I will update my review after I have our next adventure!

Most waterfalls include tricky trails that are potentially muddy and steep with loose rock, but Bushkill Falls has made these gorgeous waterfalls very accessible to anyone who can go up and down stairs. The admission fee is well worth having the safe bridges, stairs, railings, and boardwalks around the falls nicely maintained and regularly tree trimmed for the best views over and around the falls! We arrived with a 2hr plan, thinking it would be a generous amount of time, but found that we could have spent even more time by taking a longer trail through the woods or spending more time in the exhibits and gifts or staying for a snack, so I'd say 2hrs would be a good minimum time for exploring, but on a longer trail you could make this your entire morning or afternoon if you're ambitious! Once you're beyond the admissions gate, it's all nature, boardwalks, bridges, and waterfalls, so if you need bathrooms, drinks, or snacks, those all need to happen before or after the admission gate, and you can't really go back in after you've exited without paying a new admission fee- so keep that in mind. I did the yellow trail, which had plenty of steps, but also plenty of places to stop and get great views of falls, so it definitely took me longer than 45min to stop for scenery regularly. I added some extra spurs and took some off the trail and it was all nicely marked to help me get back even as I wandered a bit. For people who need less stairs or have less stamina- the green trail is where it's at with clear views of the largest falls- but you can also add a spur of the yellow trail from the starting trail marker going to the right without much change in elevation and a possible look at a second set of falls- so try it out because it gives you a little more time on the trails without too much elevation change and not too much extra walking. Kid Tip: Do yourself and your younger kids a favor and don't try to push them too much beyond the yellow trail- they'll likely need food or a bathroom or get tired of forest scenery quickly- and the yellow trail may take twice as long with kid legs and photo opportunities.

Main fall and us!

Ask the Community - Bushkill Falls

Are there restrooms?

Yes in the parking lot but none on the trails themselves. Restrooms would only be before you begin or after you're off the trails, and no readmission is allowed without a new ticket.

Is the site closed in the event of inclement weather, especially when it is projected to rain heavily?

As you probably know, Bushkill Falls is privately owned, so the final decision rests with the owner, who has safety as an overriding concern.… Read more

Can I bring my dog on the trail? Is Bushkill Falls pet friendly?

Yes you can. This is directly from their website; Pets Pets are permitted in the park, but must remain on a leash and not left unattended anywhere on the grounds.

Lost River Caverns - Stalactites

Lost River Caverns

Lost River Caverns is a natural limestone cavern and tourist attraction located in Hellertown,…read morePennsylvania that has been forming for 250,000 years. Consisting of five chambers, the caverns were formed by the karstification or dissolving of the limestone by water. In the past, the cavern was also referred to as "Rentzheimer's Cave" or the "Lost Cave". The "Lost River", so named because the source and mouth of the river have not yet been discovered, flows through it. The temperature in the cave is consistently close to 52 °F (11 °C). The area on the surface of the cavern was a limestone quarry in the 19th century. In 1883, quarry workers ignited a black powder blast to remove limestone from the cliff face. In doing so, they discovered the entrance to the cavern. The first systematic exploration of the cavern didn't take place until three years later. In the years following the cavern's discovery, local residents found the underground spaces ideal for a variety of uses. During the late 1800s, a wooden dance floor was constructed in what is now called the "Crystal Chapel". Regular dances were held in the natural air conditioning of the cave. Irwin Gilman purchased the cave in 1929 and opened it to the public the following year. It is still owned and operated for tours by the Gilman family today. A small museum and gift shop stand above the surface of the cave entrance. From 1949 - 2009, the "Crystal Chapel" was available for weddings and other private ceremonies. Approximately 35,000 tourists explore the caverns annually. My family and I visited the Lost River Caverns this past summer while we were visiting relatives in the area. My wife and I had previously visited some natural caverns in upstate New York years ago. This was the first time that we explored caverns since we became parents. Both of our young sons loved exploring all of the various chambers. The tour was fun for the whole family. Our sons also enjoying learning about the different geological features such as stalactites, stalagmites, and fluorescent rocks. We even bought a toy miners helmet in the gift shop for our older son. Our cave guide was enthusiastic and knew her stuff, handling questions as the tour progressed. If you've never been in a cave before you might be impressed but if you have , well I think you'll be disappointed. There aren't all that many types of formations to look at and those that are there are not all that impressive. We picked here because in our local area we have only been to Crystal Cave and thought we'd give it a shot. Glad we did but would recommend Crystal Cave over here. That said, if you've been to say Luray Caverns in Virginia then you won't be blown away by either of them!
