They don't honor their own advertised Veterans' discount…read more I went on-line to find a reasonably priced, local storage facility, to keep some furniture, here in Plymouth, Massachusetts. I came across "Stor-U-Self" Storage, at 8 Natalie Way. They were close-by, clean, and priced similarly to what I was finding elsewhere. They offered a 9'X10' indoor, first floor room for $114 per month, with a promotion for the first two months being 50% off. It's of note that this promotion isn't anything particularly special since I found that the price was very similar to other storage facilities prices for the same size room, and the "first two months at 50% off" promo wasn't dissimilar to the 1st month free that many storage facilities offer. Their website also clearly advertised a 5% discount for Veterans and Seniors (I'm a 62-year-old VA-rated Disabled Veteran). I reserved the 9'X10' room on-line and went over to the facility to look it over and see the room. When I arrived, I met with the Assistant Manager, Jonathan Busby, who took me on a tour of the facility and showed me larger rooms on the second floor (which I declined). He also made sure to show me a "price sheet" and pointed out that I was quoted the "on-line price" because the "in person price" was $239 per month (no such "in-person" pricing was advertised on their website, nor posted at the facility). We also spoke about the advertised first two months being 50% off. He pointed out that when I booked the room, I would pay for the first month and the second month would be free. As part of our ongoing conversation, I pointed out that, while it wasn't quite what was advertised (50% off each of the first two months), it equated to the same thing and that it was no different than many storage facilities do as promotions. Which he acknowledged. When we came back to the Office, I asked about the 5% Veterans' discount that was advertised. Jonathan bantered about not "knowing how to apply the Veteran's discount in addition to the first two months at 50% off promotion". We chatted about the difference between a temporary sales promotion and a stated permanent discount but, ultimately, I was told that Walter Pollock, the Facility General Manager, would likely be able to help me. I waited patiently for Mr. Pollock to finish with two other customers and then he came over to chat with me. He unequivocally stated that they would not honor the Veterans' discount. He gave me a litany of reasons, 1) I was already receiving the "on-line rate", rather than the "walk-in rate" (there is no posted "walk-in rate", only a sheet that they carried around with them), 2) I was receiving the "first two months at 50% off" (a temporary promo, not a permanent discount, and no different than any other storage facility), 3) I didn't confirm, book, and pay for the room on-line, in advance of coming in (the system sends you an e-mail message, instructing you to being in the reservation paperwork to the facility to sign the contract for the room), and 4) "We aren't going to just give the rooms away". I pointed out that, in good faith, I did everything that the website told me to do, I wasn't asking that they "give away" the room, and that "for what amounts to a $6 self-advertised discount, [they were] going to watch business walk out the door". I further indicated that I wasn't trying to be nasty in any way, I simply expected them to stand by what they advertised. Mr. Pollock just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I left the building to bring my business elsewhere.

The team was incredibly professional, reliable, efficient, and respectful throughout the entire process. A special thank you to John, Eric, Yerdos, and Zhamshid. They were an amazing crew. It's rare to find a team that is not only hardworking but also kind, trustworthy, and pleasant to have around. I highly recommend Seven Moving to anyone looking for top-quality movers. I was especially grateful they didn't spam my inbox or blow up my phone after I requested a quote online - they absolutely respected my communication preference of no phonecalls please. I was also relieved they didn't make me fill out a complete, room-by-room inventory of what I needed moved. They charged a very reasonable flat hourly fee based on how many movers I requested (I went with three, which worked well). I was a little nervous that they didn't take a deposit - were they really going to show up?? but not only did they show up (and on time), they worked so quickly you wouldn't have guessed they were getting paid hourly. 10/10, would recommend and will rebook next time I have to move (hopefully not soon).

As…read moresomeone who has moved quite a bit (including 2 cross country moves) I am pretty good at giving a moving company all pertinent information relating to my move so we can move, pun intended, as quickly as possible. While the movers (including the owner) did show up on time, that was about all they did correctly for my move. It took them almost 4 hours to move the large pieces of furniture from my 1 bedroom apartment (with an elevator) into the truck. I had already moved all boxes and small items myself to the loading area prior to their arrival. The movers had NO EQUIPMENT, not even gloves, to carry anything or expedite the process. When we arrived at my new location (2nd floor walk up in JP) They seem to take their time moving things in (I moved more in then they did) and when my couch needed to be hoisted up, the owner seemed to be upset with me. He told me time and again during the day about how they know how to move people in Boston. "This is our business. We know what we are doing." Yet, they had no equipment and were unprepared to hoist anything. The total move took 8 hours! Then the owner made it seem like he was doing me a favor by coming back 2 days later and hoisting my couch up. Not only will I not use them again but after the near $1000 I spent, I actively recommend against them!

DO NOT HIRE THEM!!! They were highly incompetent in almost every aspect of our move. The truth of…read morethe matter is that they are taking advantage of the elderly and people in vulnerable positions. Let me explain. I am disabled. My mother works all day. My Stepfather passed away in 2017. Our Large Estate was too much for us to handle on our own. We needed a clean out done (lots of junk) But also needed movers to help us pack what we would be taking with us. They claim to "Do it all!" Boy they sure do! They'll DO you alright. DO ya right in to the dirt pal! Don't get me started on their cleaning expertise. The place was so clean it was spotless almost as if our possessions weren't even there! Oh wait a minute, that's because they weren't! They'll clean you right out! They come in and under the guise of helping you pack, eye ball all of your belongings and decide what they will keep for themselves to sell off and what junk they will wrap up and send off with you! My mother can not believe how many of her precious things were not packed and mine too. The owner Ingrid wrapped up my stepdads ashes! His ashes! The one thing my mom said she'd personally bring with her they packed up. and very disrespectfully at that. Thank god my mom saw them in the box on the floor. Ingrid then tried to convince me that I did not need my rolling closet that was like 100$ I assured her that I did need it. Guess what! She decided I didn't! She kept it! My moms reclining chair. They took it! My mom flipped and they brought it back. The back that had been damaged previously was already fixed!!! They played it off like that was a favor.. lady had our chair fixed and never told us about it haha! Sounds more like it was getting ready to be sold rather. Plenty more went wrong here I won't continue. Ok I will. They took my tools and my brother had to go retrieve them. He approached a guy on the truck. The guy pretended he "Didn't see NO tools!" His words. My bro spotted them behind the guy. GUY was blocking/hiding them with his body! Furious and befuddled that the jig was up the guy threw them at my brother. Not only did they poach anything of value that we didn't specifically say pack. They were highly disrespectful with the things they packed for us and super gentle with everything in the clean out. I mean it's almost as if the trucks were swapped and we got the clean out truck and they kept our possessions. I mean the truly disgusting and despicable part of it is that the place pretends to be a beacon of light in a tough time. Like especially after grief or a death apparently or a loved one too old to take care of themselves. They cater to retirement homes and estate sales etc..etc.. I'm disabled but I'm only 26 and am able to tell you all what happened. I can't imagine how many sickly and elderly people these folks must have Swindled that simply can't speak on it. I mean retirement homes for goodness sake. From a hypothetical stand point I could easily imagine an elderly woman saying "hey where's this and where is that?" But everybody just thinks she's old and crazy and never had a radio from 1936 or maybe she even thought the year now is 1936 so like who would really care right??? Nobody would care that's who and that's exactly what New Leaf is counting on. Their counting on that very sentiment all the way to the bank!!! How do these folks from retirement homes feel I wonder. That their stuff was taken. It was (hypothetically but entirely possible) an old person's that probably can't use a computer and give a review or they're dead and buried and rolling in their grave. Not able to say how mortified they are that their possessions were hawked and sold and everything was handled with utter carelessness. My mom had to write on the boxes with a sharpie because even their stickers were cheap. They would fall right off and wait here's the shocking climax...even more stuff got mixed up and "lost" ..cough "sold " Not to mention this was not a cheap service. So we essentially paid to have our items stolen from us and sold elsewhere for a profit. The term from Seinfeld "double dipping" comes to mind.

My father needed to move to a senior-living apartment…read moreand we were overwhelmed by the logistical challenges (only some furniture would go with us to the new location, significant decluttering and downsizing, cleanout of the old home). I am so glad I called New Leaf. Ingrid and/or her team: 1. Came over for an in-home consultation the same afternoon that I first called. 2. Devised an action plan on the spot that accommodated everyone's schedule (especially important for me as I was bouncing between MA and NY). 3. Did a perfect job of pre-packing / decluttering on a selected day before the move - always involving my dad in decisions on what should come with him and what could be donated / recycled. 4. On the moving day - coordinated seamlessly with the movers (who were fantastic) and operated with dizzying efficiency to completely set up his new apartment. Our moving day started at 9am, by 1:30pm we were relaxing in a completely finished, beautiful new apartment. 5. Efficiently completed the clean-out of my dad's old apartment the next day. What I admire most about Ingrid and New Leaf is that, while they are almost scarily efficient, they are also extremely empathetic, laser-focused on getting buy-in for any decision to downsize belongings, and even have a bias towards keeping furniture / belongings. For example, I didn't think that an armoire at my dad's old apartment would fit easily in his new place, but Ingrid convinced me otherwise. Not only did it fit, it ended up being the perfect storage area for some important papers, paintings and photo albums that we wanted to keep. Corny as it sounds, New Leaf Transitions makes the world a better place. THANK YOU!

He answered the many many questions I had with grace and provided me with a lot of reassurance. Daniel's actions and communication made it evident that he cared about my comfort and not just my money. If you want a more detailed review, see below. Please note that I also posted this review on Google as well. I've moved many times in my life but always with my own car, a friend, a rental moving truck, or the U-haul U-box. This year I decided to hire a moving company to get my belongings from Massachusetts to the Midwest. But I was skeptical as a first-time full service mover (minus the packing, which I did myself). I read about the difference between brokers and movers, I read about the many scams, and I checked out each company I wanted to work with on the FMCSA website to see pertinent details. I didn't want a low quote that would change after they already loaded my stuff. I got quotes from about seven different companies, including Mayflower, U-haul U-box, PODS, OM Van Lines, Zippy Shell, Zip Moving and Storage, and more local movers such as RELOQ. I found RELOQ through Yelp's project option, where you enter your needs and Yelp sends the details to a few companies to provide you with quotes. I declined Daniel's quote at first because although the price was fair, it was out of my price range. Daniel worked with me on the cost to better match my budget and provided some of the best customer service I've received to date across any industry. Daniel and two additional team members arrived on time on a Thursday afternoon. By Saturday morning, I had my stuff again. Other services did not have a guaranteed drop off date like RELOQ did, but instead had a 7-14 day window which left me really anxious for obvious reasons. So I'm quite glad I trusted Daniel. They arrived earlier than the stated time for both pickup and dropoff. For pickup, he and his team carefully disassembled my bed, thoughtfully wrapped my furniture, and loaded my two bedroom/one bathroom apartment into their truck all within about an hour. Upon dropoff, they finished the unloading and assembly in two hours. The time differential is due largely to the environment in both locations. I moved from a first floor apartment in a more suburban area to a high rise in a more downtown area. It was not just exiting my front door and going right to the truck, here they had to navigate a loading dock, a freight elevator, and another elevator up multiple floors in a very busy building. They were also delayed by miscommunication from my building management. Even so, they got it all done in two hours and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Be careful if you are returning merchandise here…read more There's a new staff person (a young blonde-haired man) who doesn't seem to be properly trained and inaccuracies of your return/tracking receipts could cost you money. Standing in line, I was watching him taking care of an elderly lady that was having some difficulty with her returns and I watched him roll his eyes multiple times. She was being polite but he seemed to be visibly annoyed. When it was my turn, I had four (4) packages to return to Amazon. If you're unfamiliar, Amazon's return/refund process begins with the scan of your package at the shipping facility. If it's not scanned properly, you don't get your refund (or it can make it difficult). When I left, I realized that I had four (4) tracking receipts but he had double scanned one of the items and not scanned another. In addition, one of the scanned labels showed a zero (0) weight which could cause a vendor to believe that nothing was in the box if the box was lost in transit and I tried to show that I properly returned it. I had to drive back to the store. When I came back to the store, he seemed annoyed/rushed when looking for my packages. When he finally found them he scanned the package that had not been previously scanned but did so with someone else's package on the scale. This caused my tracking receipt to illustrate a weight that was three times what it actually was. It would seem that he isn't aware that these kind of mistakes can cost customers considerable money if the items aren't properly scanned, and then get lost in shipping. It would also seem that he needs remedial training in customer service and courtesy.
