I've used this company for years and initially had a very positive experience -- the owner responded quickly and professionally when I first reached out about an issue. However, the follow-up was disappointing. The same technician who caused the original problem was sent back, and the quality of the work raised concerns. For example, insulation in the wall area was minimal and appeared insufficient, and there was an attempt to use inappropriate materials (rags) in place of proper insulation. I had to supply insulation myself which he said was much better than what he had. Also he wanted to leave the rags in there cause it would be more insulation! The technician also mentioned he had worked until 3 AM and didn't really want to be working that day, which was not reassuring. Also an outside hose bib was left uncaulked. I followed up with the owner to share these concerns and never received a response, despite a second attempt to check in. In the end, I caulked the hose bib myself. I would have appreciated at least an acknowledgment or response, especially given my prior experience as a customer. read more

We called midday on a Friday to have a toilet unclogged and they fit us in that afternoon. Why the low rating? 1) They scratched the bottom of our toilet while using their tool - maybe they were in a hurry and just wanted to get their weekend started (they seemed to have left the seat up while they unclogged it because it was very dirty) but they not only did that, they also sloshed dirty water everywhere and didn't even try to clean up after themselves. 2) They initially tried to charge 2x as much as I was quoted on the phone when I scheduled the service ($295 vs. $140), though did take it down to $155 when I pushed back. 3) The owner (I think?) was not at all apologetic and rude when I talked to him about being disappointed that his guys damaged the toilet. He kept trying to say that I was the one with the issue. I don't think that it's unreasonable to expect professionals to do the job and not damage anything in the process. And at least if they did that, I would've appreciated that they own up to it and take some responsibility for it, if not try to make up for this negative experience. Instead, I was made to feel like I was the one who had the issue and making too big a deal of something that nearly always happens during a plumbing job and was a simple fix that could be cleaned up with product. (We tried that and they did in fact damage the toilet.) While they did fix the clog, I would not recommend this company based on how they treated me as a customer and my property. read more

It was a pleasure working with this company a couple weeks ago. We contacted them when we discovered my mother in-law's hot water heater was running continuously and could hear the hot water coming out of the tank. The owner, Mike, came out the next day and quickly determined that there was a leak in the hot water pipe under the concrete slab in the kitchen. He had seen the problem before, quickly gave us an estimate and we scheduled the work for two days later. Mike's guys showed up on time and covered all the kitchen counters before starting. They got through the concrete and found a total of four leaks on a five-foot section of pipe. They kept mess to a minimum and we were surprised with how little concrete dust there was. After replacing the faulty section of pipe, they refilled the hole and poured fresh concrete. They took extra care knowing that they were working for an elderly person and covered the drying concrete with plywood so she could still use her kitchen until new flooring was installed. The bill was exactly what was estimated and seemed very reasonable for a full day's work. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone in the Crofton/Bowie area. read more

Let me tell ya'll about Naumann Plumbing, though. They are the BOMB! My condo flooded and I had to have several plumbers come out before the problem was solved. Literally, 3 different plumbers came here and they all claimed to know what the problem was, but none of them could fix it! One straight up said, "I can't fix it." Another said, "I just don't understand what's going on." The last one said "There. I fixed it." and tried to charge me. When he was leaving out, I looked in the closet the water was leaking from and it had started flooding again. I yelled for him to come back. I was so frustrated. He refunded me and got the hell out. I eventually called the condo people/ association or whatever and they sent Naumann Plumbing out. Within 20 minutes of them being here, the problem was solved! They were super friendly and explained everything to me. They even helped get the pieces of carpet I'd torn up out of the place for me. I was so grateful. They also helped me to get everything set up for someone to come out and dry everything and redo the hardwood floors in the front...the entire place was flooded :( I loved them, though! After our pipes burst last year, contractor failed to provide insulation on pipes to the extent we requested. (Only the ones easily visible from below). Pipes burst again just this last week, and contractor refused to do anything about it. Said "we should have caught it" before they left. So - make sure you check their work - because once it blows up once they leave - it's not their problem. read more

I can't say enough good things about Mike from Naumann Plumbing. I've been calling emergency plumbers in my area all afternoon trying to find someone who was an expert in well systems. I was dealing with multiple issues, some of which I had a hard time describing (foul odor in my water, no water pressure, leaky pipes, very loud hissing noise from the thing on top of my water softener, and a violent reverberation in my water pipes). As you can probably tell, plumbing is not my forté. This is what I called Mike with after hours, I explained the issue as I just explained it to you. It was even worse over the phone because I was in a bit of a panic. Mike was very patient with me as I tried my best to explain what was going on. He offered to send someone out to deal with the leak, but I explained that I didn't think that would work as we had already had a technician out at that point. That individual took one look at the system we have set up and turned around and left - he had no idea how to service it. Mike then suggested we Facetime so that he could see the issue firsthand. So that's what we did. I showed him everything that I couldn't really put words to, and he explained to me what he felt was going on. Through the phone, he was able to triage the situation. I now have running water in my home, and I'll be having an expert come service the system tomorrow. I can't thank Naumann Plumbing enough. Their customer service and industry knowledge are through the roof! I'll certainly be calling them for any plumbing issues I might have in the future. read more

I had Naumann plumbing come out to our condo because a plug in the main line was causing our upstairs neighbors' water to back up into our kitchen sink. They arrived quickly (on a Friday night no less), and the plumber who came out (Charles) was very helpful, informative, friendly, and left our kitchen much cleaner than than plumbers we have had out in the last few years for the same issue. In addition, our dish disposal had broken due to the heat and pressure of the backup, and rather than just leaving Charles waited a few minutes while we got clearance from our management company (as well as speaking with them and explaining the break wasn't our fault) so that the management company would cover repairs. He even did a quick fix to some pipes that had been poorly installed under the sink while he was down there putting things back together-above and beyond his job requirements. I was so impressed I even contacted one of the owners directly to tell her how happy I was with the job. I always like to give credit where credit is due, and this company certainly exceeded our expectations. read more

These folks are terrific! Great service, super responsive, and transparent about pricing up front. I broke some glass in the sink (okay, a lot of glass - I was trying to wash a refrigerator shelf and it shattered) and some got caught in the garbage disposal. After that, the garbage disposal wouldn't run - it would only hum - and the sink wouldn't drain. I called Naumann on Monday afternoon, and they said they could send someone out on Tuesday afternoon - but then they called on Tuesday morning to say a technician could be there in half an hour, if I wanted. And I did! The technicians were friendly, explained what they were doing as they went, and even showed me how to fix the issue if it happened again. I highly recommend Naumann Plumbing! read more

Terrible customer service! I have been a repeat customer on many HVAC issues in the past. You would think as a regular customer they would treat you with a level of courtesy. Think again. We had a major plumbing issue late one evening which left us with no option but to turn off the water in the house. I left a message with the answering service. We did not receive a phone call back and I had to call back several times the next morning only to find out that they could not send anyone over for several days to even tell us what the problem was. As a regular paying and loyal customer I expected better. We will not be using them ever again. read more

Turned out I was wrong about never calling Naumann Plumbing again. I did call again. The very next day, in fact, because the toilet in the bathroom with the newly "cleared" drain was still backing up even though it hadn't been used following the plumber's first visit. They came out a second time, and it's fine now. My husband joked that the price was so high because they knew they'd have to make two trips. The owner wrote a rather lengthy response to my review. (I feel so special!) I really don't want to get into a back-and-forth, but I will reiterate what I think are the main points from my first review: I had the same dirty job done (unclogging a main line), in the same basement bathroom, with the same equipment (they also removed the toilet), by a different plumber (Howard Plumbing) for $285 LESS. My invoice from Naumann Plumbing was $495; the invoice for the exact same work from Howard Plumbing was $210. Oh, and one more thing. Howard Plumbing did it right the first time. Excellent and complete service, very pleasant staff, & Professional service. I rated them 5 stars because Mike from Naumann Plumbing showed up within an hour for a clogged toilet line that I had. After determining that it was not within my unit but was backing up from the the county line outside the home which was also plugged up, he called A.A. County to come and clear the line. However when the county came out, the guy just glanced in the manhole and said it was fine the water is moving now. Mike insisted to the county worker that its still clogged up and that's the source of the issue, so the county worker located and snaked the "clean out" and wala! The drain opened up and myself and others in my unit had free flowing pipes again. If Mike hadn't hung around to check on the county worker they would have left without fixing the issue. Got a hot water heater upgraded by them. They were about $100 cheaper than my normal plumber which was helpful, but wasn't really my primary concern. Hot water heaters are unique that if done poorly they can flood a house or do worse damage with a poorly worked gas line. Comparing parts doesn't seem to matter anymore because everyone seems to be using the same equipment. The pricing was good, but their representation during the pre-sale discussion was what sold me. I believe the woman's name was Tina that I primarily worked with, and I grilled her with questions about the service and if they were local, etc.. For some of the things like plumbing, you'll see nationwide umbrella corps pretending to be local, and they'll just throw whatever cheap mercenary they can find at it. I was also able to take a photo of the unit and send it so they could give an accurate quote which held through the work, and scheduled me in within 2 days of calling. The execution took less time than they thought at about an hour instead of 2, and the whole thing was pretty seamless. I'd absolutely recommend them and use them again myself. read more

I purchased a water heater from Home Depot and contracted Naumann to install it back in January 2017. The installers let me know that they had to cut the water overflow pipe (PVC) from my A/C unit that was right next to where they wanted to install. They cut and installed a new overflow pipe. When I turned on my A/C in May and ran it for a few weeks I noticed that my laminate flooring and bottom step was soaked. The overflow pipe wasn't properly installed so a small amount of water wasn't making it into the ground pipe causing water damage. I contacted them, they came out and took photos and asked me to talk to Mike, the owner. Mike immediately pointed out that I was beyond the 90-day warranty and said that it would likely be an insurance issue. I said that was fine, and to please have them contact me. I didn't hear from them for 2 weeks so I contacted them again and left a message that I would like to hear from their insurance. At this point I am being ignored and believe that they hope I'll drop the issue. Since there is no communication from them, this is what I have to assume. Until they make things right and contact me, I wouldn't recommend their service, or anyone who doesn't take responsibility for contracted work. read more

These amateurs were subcontractors for a top notch firm who did a full renovation -- this is the only outfit in the entire group (dry wallers, painters, electricians, flooring contractors) who I would not allow on my property again. FYI, a few months after my project was completed I talked to a foreman from the same general contracting firm (working in another part of metro Washington), who agreed with my "thumbs down" assessment on this company. First of all I want to say how amazingly courteous and cheerful everyone at Naumann's is. I spoke with at least 2 people from the answering service who were wonderful. Mr. Naumann himself (Mike) called me back within 15 minutes and apologized that he had not been able to take my call immediately when the answering service tried to transfer, but that he had been talking with another customer. He also was super nice and it was nice to have the owner himself call! I had a clogged pipe that was causing the washer to back up into the powder room. The technician, Anthony, arrived and was extremely upbeat and courteous. He snaked the drain to the outside and seemed very thorough, It seemed like the problem was solved. However, he was not too careful with being neat. There was a lot of icky drain splatter on my laundry room walls, and he had put part of the snake on the tile without anything under it and there was some black water and goop on the new tile floor and in the grout. I asked him to please put something under it, so he wiped it up and put a plastic dropcloth under it. I had to wipe down the walls and scrub the tile and grout after he left, though. Also, there are some marks on my wall where the spinning snake scratched it up. Unfortunately the next day I found the problem was still happening, I talked to Mike Naumann and he assured me they would send someone out to complete the job, no charge. Technician Charles came out and discovered that the toilet in the powder room needed to be snaked as well. He worked for a couple hours at it, removing the toilet, bringing in the big "snake machine" when the smaller snake wouldn't work. He was very careful to be neat, even commenting at first that the one hard thing on these jobs was to keep things clean! But, he really did, even with all the snaking he did. And throughout all the tough and rather nasty job, he was upbeat, courteous and cheerful! The problem is now solved - the only reason for four stars instead of five is that the first tech did not solve the problem and thus the need for a second visit, and the mess that was made the first time. I would call Naumann's again, for sure, and now know a specific tech I would request, Charles. read more

We know NOTHING about well water stystems. It was late on a Sunday before a Holiday. He still answered his phone and took the time to listen to our problem and advised us on what he thought the issue has and how to repair it. That kind of service is near impossible to come by! Naumann plumbing came out promptly to do a complex job involving moving water treatment tanks, cutting out concrete slab, replacing sump can and sump pump, re-cement and related electric. They showed up when scheduled, finished the job in the time estimated, for the cost quoted, and kept the work site clean. I subsequently called them out for an unrelated burst pipe which Mike Naumann repaired in 15 minutes. The gals in the office did a great job of scheduling and staying in touch. Awesome company, called on a Friday about a broken sewer pipe in the front yard. Got a price quote which was MUCH LESS than I was quoted from another plumbing service in the area. Naumann arrived promptly the next Monday morning and went to work, dug up the old broken pipe, ran a new pipe from the house to the street, and added 2 access points if the pipe ever needed to be cleaned out in the future. Work was all done by the end of the day, they leveled off all the dirt in the yard and everything was working great again. Only thing they didn't do was throw down some grass seed, which I was told ahead of time they wouldn't do, but otherwise, they were super good people to do business with. read more

Flawless from beginning to end. When you have a leak in your ceiling pipe and have turned off the water supply to your home, you feel desperate. Also had a kitchen faucet that was not working properly. Called in the morning, spoke to a courteous woman who scheduled me a time range that a plumbing technician would come to my home the same day and reviewed the fees. As promised Geoff showed up within the time frame, was professional and friendly, addressed my kitchen faucet issue by diagnosing that it was the water filter causing flow problems, so did not have to repair/replace the faucet. Thank you. He then addressed the pin hole leak in my ceiling. Finished up replacing a segment of cooper pipe in 50 minutes. Clean up was great. Charge was reasonable. My entire experience was as pleasant as possible, reasonable fees, prompt, and professional. Kudos ! Continued success in your business, you guys ROCK! read more
