We had a toilet backing up. Two weeks ago we paid Heidler $1300 for work over two days. Today we had to call another plumber for the same issue. These plumbers pulled our toilet to clear the clog, then put a camera in the system and found that we have a collapsed pipe. Heidler put a camera in but said it was too dark to see. The current plumber said it was too dark because the clog had not been removed. He also said that we are their second client this week where they were called because Heidler failed to correct the issue. When we called Heidler and told them that the toilet was backing up again, we were told that their work is not guarenteed. After seeing this review Heilder contacted us and refunded our payment. read more

Perfect Timing! Boy, did I ever luck out! I have been procrastinating for the last two years since Heidler first installed a replacement sump pump in my basement. I have been wanting to get a battery back-up for the unit. Finally pulled the plug and had them come out on Monday, August 30th. The technician was promptly on time and tackled the fairly tricky installation (in the tight corner of my basement). He did a great job. Wouldn't you know it, but two days later, a tornado struck Annapolis and went right over our neighborhood. My house sustained lots of outside tree, fence and siding damage. We were fortunate that power was only lost for about 30 hours. However the night of the tornado, with no power, it continued to rain and the sump continued to work! My basement remained dry! I recommend going elsewhere. I had a clogged kitchen sink. I called first thing in the morning and they responded quickly. But I am very unhappy with the service. First, the plumbers who provided the service could not get the snake to go around the corner. Other plumbers have not had this problem. This led to a doubling of the price to put a Y-pipe at the end of the drainage pipe. But the best part is that after charging $500, the fix lasted less than 7 hours. Well, this company recommend me installing Navien tankless water heater, which ends up sucking of a lot of $$ for fixing problems/services. The company repeatedly saying "we never had this type of problem before...". Sometime they come over, and could not fix it, but just taking service fee. The worst incidence was 4yr ago; the water heater burst hot water in the middle of winter day.... Luckily we had one person left at home to shut down the units, otherwise, we would've gotten flood... it was horrible. Last year, units had problem to ignite fire. Company came twice and could not find the solution! After 2nd failure of company's fixing, I finally looked youtube and figured out how to fix it by myself (which is replacement of mother board). Then, this year, after their annual de-scaling and fixing minor leaking, units got stopped working again.... I mean what kind of company push the customer buying this problematic water heater, saying "this is a great product, we never had major problem, and last very long!" Are you kidding? At least, I gave a lot of grant... just bad company. Rated 1 star .... read more

Our hot water heater died. The manufacturer refused to send us a replacement part even though it was under warranty. So we called Heidler for an estimate on a new water heater. Then, at the last minute, the part arrived by FedEx. Josh from Heidler fixed our water heater during the appointment we scheduled for the estimate and saved us at least $1,000 if not more. read more

Tech showed up on time. Did his job and located the problem. I was charged $80 service fee to come out and diagnose the problem, and then I was charged another $87 for actually diagnosing the problem... RIPOFF, but whatever, I paid him because I want this thing fixed. He says I need a new control panel for the furnace. Cool. I wait 2 days (meanwhile the furnace is off and I'm using my fireplace to heat the house). I get an e-mail saying they want $995 to replace the control board and pressure switch. Fun fact, there's nothing wrong with my pressure switch. A little shocked by the cost, I call them to ask for a cost breakdown since it wasn't in the e-mail. I was told very frankly that they only quote the job and will not break down the associated costs. I highly disapprove of this business practice since there's no accountability. Especially to replace a part that costs approximately $300 on the high side. I politely suggested that if they didn't break down the costs for me I would take my money elsewhere and the lady on the phone didn't even seem phased. She had zero concern for trying to keep a customer, fine with me I suppose. I guess other people are okay with paying these prices and they have no need for people like me. read more

Most arrogant company I've ever contacted. I had a question about some pricing and they wouldn't even talk to me until I agreed to pay their $89 "tech evaluation" fee. When I protested and said that they had done enough work in my condo complex that they practically "owned" the plumbing business there, the response I received was "that's company policy, take it or leave it." I left it!!! Had them out for one other emergency repair. They made a "quick & dirty" repair which left debris in the water line which then got into and destroyed my mixing valve. When confronted, they refuted all responsibility. STAY AWAY!! Would give them a 0 if possible. read more

Heidler installed my hot water tank several years ago. They did a great job. I recently had an issue with a leaking shower so I contacted Heidler who came out and fixed the leak, which was due to corrosion of the pipe that joins the shower head to the main line inside the wall. The corrosion was extensive but Josh was up to the challenge and removed the corroded pipe threads from the fitting. Due to the corrosive nature of my well water, I asked for a return visit to change the brass fittings, gage and ball value on my well's pressure tank, as well as install a new kitchen faucet. Heidler provided a fair quote and I had Josh return, who did a "fantastic job" and was very careful not to make a mess. Each time I have used Heidler, I have found their staff to be professional, polite and very knowledgeable. read more

During a recent bathroom upgrade, a plumber was needed quickly before tiling work could be completed. Heidler responded promptly by providing an estimate at 9am and by noon on the same day, Josh with Heidler was onsite performing the job. I also called R.E. Robertson requesting an estimate. I called Heidler on Friday night when suddenly a leak appeared in the C-PVC piping above the Heidler gas-fueled boiler that heats the water for our home including the water for our heating system (we have an older home with the type of radiators that have hot water running through them). The drip was so severe that we had to turn off the water main. So we were facing an entire weekend with no water ... unless we got emergency service ($$$$). At 9:05 PM on Friday January 10th, I called Heidler's number and got their answering service who told me that their emergency service stopped at 9:00 PM and did not start up again until the next business day (so, Monday, I said -- and she said "yes"). I was surprised to hear of an emergency service that didn't cover 2 days out of 7. I pushed back but she insisted that this was correct. On Saturday morning, I was able to find a plumber who could come out, from HORIZON Services of Windsor Mill, MD. The plumber removed a piece of c-pvc of about five inches wide and installed a new piece, with a new brass connector ($7 at the Home Depot) on either end. The job: cut a piece of old a pvc pipe out, cut new pvc piece, pop in the two brass connectors. Done. Total tab: just a few dollars short of $400. I'll let the reader be the judge of this price. Now that I've seen the job done, I know can do this myself in less than half an hour. Called Heidler on Monday to let them know what happened. I was told that they do provide emergency service on weekends -- what their answering service told me was wrong. They would have come out on Saturday had I called them back the next morning. My comment to Heidler's ownership is that at least one of the staff members at their answering service does not appear to have the correct information to give to Heidler's customers. It blows my mind how this company has so many positive reviews. I'm not one to leave reviews but after the second time I spent an arm and a leg for a service and not only didn't get my problem resolved but had to pay more money for someone else to resolve the issue, I figured it was time to speak up. I called Heidler a few years ago to fix my AC unit. I was charged $400 for the "repair" but there was still a problem with the AC. I called and called trying to get either someone to come back and actually fix the problem or get my money back and finally they just stopped taking my calls. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago when I was in a bind and needed after hours service for a leak in my basement. I was charged $225 for some very unhelpful disengaged tech to come out and barely check anything just to say there's no problem. What? The paint is bubbling in my basement and the ceiling is literally leaking. He tightened a random tiny pipe in the upstairs bathroom and proceeded to say that was the cause meanwhile there's piles of water in the basement. It made no senses When asked to look at the washer a floor up, he glanced quickly, touched nothing, said it looked fine and was eager to collect payment. The following day I had someone else come out who once realized it wasn't a pipe in the bathroom, he flipped the washer upside down and right there in plain sight was a broken pipe. He said the problem was very obvious. Heidler provided terrible service not once, but twice. My fault for even using them a second time. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

We had them put in a new gas line inside our house, with an eye to a tankless water heater in the 5-10 year future. The quote process was easy and they were happy to address my concerns throughout. The quote was more opaque than I preferred, but we had several more quotes, and theirs was the best for those who could verbally address all of my concerns at the time. I asked them a plethora of questions and they were never short with me and they never gave me the impression I was wasting their time. For the installation, I was in their back pocket the whole time, asking questions and just watching the work. They didn't object or make any trouble. They made a better than code central hub for the appliance lines to come out of, and this was a standard practice for them. They addressed all of my concerns and dealt with my hovering over them professionally and personably, face-to-face and over the phone. They also dealt with all of the county permitting and scheduling, so I didn't have to arrange anything directly with them. I just had to let the inspectors in. I will call Heidler again when we have need for additional plumbing service. ~of note, we had to use a somewhat uncommon supply line for the gas, and we had three other quotes done, and all of the others either were for less-than-modern techniques, or they were having us purchase far more materials than we needed because they didn't deal with them very often. But Heidler charged us only for what we used, with no waste. read more

Ryan was on time, professional, meticulously cut holes in my wall and ceiling not to overly damage them, and was thorough in finding all sources of the problem. The tech, Chuck, showed up on time and did an outstanding job on replacing my gas hot water heater. He was clean, layed down tarps and drop cloths throughout the house, and even wore shoe covers. Plumber spent an inordinate amount of time diagnosing the source of a leak within the wall. When performing repairs in a tight area under the sink, he actually jostled some piping that had never had any issues under the sink. He then claimed that the piping under the sink was leaking and charged me an additional $124.99 to put in a new P-trap. As I said, this part of the plumbing was perfectly fine before he started maneuvering around under the sink. They now refuse to issue me credit. The people there have been very curt and unpleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend any other plumber. read more

Paul diagnosed a bad starting capacitor, showing me everything he was doing and explaining what was going on. He replaced the capacitor and the unit started right up. We've had both Matt and Will from out to our house for plumbing issues. I learned a lot from both of them and they did great work. Before we purchased and installed our hybrid hot water heater, I did a lot of research. Matt not only did a great job with the install but he made a condensate drain from pvc that works great and looks so much better than what I had seen online Will did a great job unclogging our faucets from calcium buildup and taught me how to do the preventative maintenance to prevent the problem from reoccurring . Great service! We just remodeled our kitchen and needed a lot of plumbing done. From moving a gas line to installing a new sink and garbage disposal. They were prompt and very flexible. we had to reschedule twice due to issues with cabinets and counters and they were able to reschedule us quickly. Wonderful service-absolutely the best. Starting with Steven Heidler himself coming out and pricing up replacing and reconnecting my plumbing under the sink after we had new granite countertops installed and replacing the drain and overflow on my tub in the bathroom. Work was priced as a flat rate and was priced fairly and competitively-we had gotten 4 estimates total from local plumbers as well as BGE Home. Matt our tech arrived on time and completed the work very professionally and cleanly-covered everything on the floor and cleaned up all debris-checked and rechecked three time to make sure there were no leaks in the connections and that the dishwasher and garbage disposal were operating correctly. No surprise they have such a high rating on Yelp and Angie's List. This was my first experience with a plumber. I contacted Heidler, Inc to get an old shower arm removed so I could install an S-shaped arm. I spent a couple hours on the internet trying to research how to do it myself, but it would not budge no matter what trick I tried. They had plumbers available the day after I contacted them. Fernando showed up on time and explained everything he was going to do and how much he would charge me. The old shower arm broke off with the old fitting (valve maybe? Sorry I'm not familiar with pipe lingo,) still attached. Fernando then told me what he would have to do to fix it. It was very quick, he was done in under an hour. It was also cheaper than I expected (especially after reading the horror stories on the internet about how plumbers will charge exorbitant fees for simple fixes that most could do themselves...)
