I always do my research before finding a new doc do I will post a thorough review since that's what I look for. I found this office via yelp when I lived near Natomas and I've been going there for the past 4 years. My husband and kids started going there last year and we all love the office....we now travel from Roseville. I've had exams by both doctors and they're equally great! Both have good bedside manners, take time, and don't seemed annoyed with my questions or concerns. I've had very pleasant experiences with the front office staff as well. They're even patient while I figure out which new glasses to get and will give honest opinions if asked. They have a huge selection of glasses and sun glasses. I've never felt pressured in any way to go for the more expensive options (frames, lenses, anti-glare, etc.) Also, they're open Saturday's which is super convenient :) and the new location is very spacious and so nice/clean inside. . I was able to get an appointment at the end of the year. Nicole was great and worked me in. Anyone who works health care knows what the end of the year means. Best optometry office ever. The office staff is friendly, professional and helpful and Dr. Lew is just a delight! During my last visit, a woman brought in her two little monsters (kids) who literally started knocking over the leather chairs in the waiting area - the office staff kept their cool and handled everything with the utmost professionalism. They always take the time to answer all of my questions and concerns and are also extremely patient when I take my precious time picking out a pair of glasses that suits me. Inside, there is a large selection of glasses and sunglasses to choose from, and the receptionists were all very kind. So glad I found this optometry office! When I moved to Sac a couple years ago, I totally dragged my feet in searching for a new optometrist. I was wearing really old contacts that should have been tossed long ago, and my vision was beginning to get worse and worse. I finally decided to give Natomas Optometry a try, and boy was I glad I did! Their office is spacious and clean, and the front office staff is great. Dr Lew is so amazingly sweet and friendly, and she made me feel so comfortable during the whole exam. I have had an irrational fear of the glaucoma machine (the air puff test) since I was a kid (I have been opting out of it for the last 10 years or so, but this time it was required), but she talked me through it, and it really wasn't so bad after all! I have horrible vision, so my contacts have to be special ordered, fitted and vision checked, reordered if needed, repeat until I get perfect vision - this usually takes several visits over many weeks, because the contacts take a long time to manufacture. Dr Lew was wonderfully patient throughout all my visits and worked to get me the perfect prescription and the right fit for my eyes. No more squinting! read more

Found Natomas Optometry through our insurance as we recently bought a home in the area. Already had 2 prescription for glasses for myself and daughter, was only looking for glasses at this time. Wow! Very nice facility and large selection of glasses to choose from. Was not rushed in making a decision at all. I was having a hard time finding something I liked but my daughter and Stella gave me some honest, positive feedback and I decided to go a little out of my comfort zone and couldn't be more happier with my choices. Staff was amazing from front desk to Stella and to my optometrist. Stella helped me look for frames and when I wasn't pleased and really wanted the old frames I had lost before, she looked em up online and ordered them for me! She ordered two different colors as I was indecisive, for me to decide when I come back in and choose the right ones for myself. She went above and beyond and it left a good impression on me as this was my first time at this place. I previously had left a very good optometry place in Elk Grove and wanted to find something near my job and had high standards on what optometrist to select. Stella is the best! She helped my husband and me pick out our frames, offering up suggestions and pulling out glasses that were not out that she thought we would like. She helped us get the price we needed to use up our HRA money before we lose it by adding up several different combinations of glasses. But my favorite part was when she fixed my poorly adjusted frames from a few years ago that now fit so comfortably and stay on my nose that it's like they are new again. Stella really took the time to be there for us and it made our glasses buying experience great. Also Dr Nakamura is efficient and professional, explains my health benefits to me, and makes sure I get the amazing contacts I need for my astigmatism. Dr. Nakamura is always awesome! He's very thorough and knowledgeable and he advises for the best interest of his patients and not up-selling. If you're struggling with a decision, he'll definitely lead you down the right path. The facility is clean and quiet. The gals in the front are always very polite and attentive. Turnaround time for orders is timely. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish they carried more brands. I feel like your options are somewhat limited. There are quite a few Optimetrist closer to where we live, but I'd prefer to travel all the way out here for a more personal experience. read more

Soo...the doctor is great and the front desk people were mostly helpful. My grievance is with their billing and the optician Anshu. Upon checking me out after my exam, I realized I didn't have my credit card with me and said I would call them later that day for payment. They called me several days later to collect payment, but I was extremely sick with the flu. A couple weeks go by and I receive a voicemail from Anshu saying that I now had to cover the entire eye exam and the contact lens fitting because I went out of network for my contacts...there is no out of network with VSP, you have a yearly allowance. After hearing that from Anshu, I told her I would need to call back because that is not correct. Today I called back and the girl at the front desk let me know that it shows I'm responsible for the $10 co-pay and the entire contact lens exam of $89 instead of the $60 it was supposed to be. VSP will cover my exam minus my co-pay. They said they were giving me a discount of some sort for lens exam, but now that I went out of network for my contact lens that the exam was now $89 instead of the $60. I feel they are just charging me more because I didn't purchase my contacts lenses from them. I have done the same thing every year with my insurance and never had this issue. Had I paid the day of my exam it would have been $60, but because they found out I went out of network for my contacts they up-charged my office visit. Completely unethical. I was promised a phone call from the manager tomorrow, so we will see what happens... read more

Even though I explicitly and verifiably confirmed with Natomas Optometry and their employee, Yo-yo, that my 4 pm appointment for my 9 year old daughter can be pushed back 15 minutes to 4:15 pm, when my daughter and I arrived for our appointment at or a minute or two past 4:15 pm, Dr. Myra Lew refused to see us and would not let us have our appointment. This was supposed to be our first appointment with Natomas Optometry. Dr. Myra Lew and the staff knew I left work in SF early and drove 3 hours (heavy traffic on Friday) just to pick up my daughter and bring her to the appointment. Dr. Myra Lew and Natomas Optometry could care less about honoring their promise, that people rely and act on what they say, and that I frantically drove 3 hours to make the appointment. Natomas Optometry's excuse as to why they can't see my daughter was they have a 10 minute grace period and I needed to arrive by 4:10 pm. I told them I'm only five minutes past that 10 minute grace period, but, more importantly, the 4 pm time is not even applicable as I outright confirmed with Natomas Optometry, earlier that very same day, that my appointment could be moved to 4:15 pm. Natomas Optometry couldn't have cared less and nothing mattered to them except herding people like cows. While my daughter and I waited in Natomas Optometry, Yo-yo stated to the staff and Dr. Myra Lew that in fact he moved our appointment to 4:15 pm. This didn't matter to Dr. Myra Lew or Natomas Optometry. Natomas Optometry, knowing their absurd statements won't be fallen for, then had to resort to the statement and outright lie that I came in at 4:20 pm, instead of 4:15 pm. I arrived at 4:15 pm and at worst a minute or two after 4:15 pm. Natomas Optical and their staff were lying and essentially saying a minute or two of her time (even if five minutes of her time, which it wasn't) mattered and three hours of your or my time doesn't and matters immeasurably less. Natomas Optometry outright lied to further their own objectives. I pointed out the absurdity of what they were saying. Natomas Optometry then explicitly admitted they dropped the ball, but they would do absolutely nothing about it and their position was too bad for me. They dropped the ball, but they say and make others pay for it. I asked to speak with Dr. Myra Lew, instead of her instructing her employees what to say and them delivering her statements to me. The staff, including a lady named Stephanie, said they told Dr. Myra Lew I wanted to speak with her, but the staff told me that Dr. Myra Lew said she wouldn't come out to speak with me. I never met this lady or spoke with her even once. I asked to see Dr. Myra Lew, again, and the staff told me she's with patients. I calmly told them then I can wait. I told them to tell Dr. Myra Lew I can wait for her to see her patients and meet with her after her last patient and I asked Stephanie, again, to ask Dr. Myra Lew if she can see me then and the staff, instead of even asking Dr. Myra Lew if she could do this, immediately stated to me that Dr. Myra Lew will not come out. Obvious to me, Dr. Myra Lew had no intention of coming out, regardless of whether or not she had patients. Dr. Myra Lew was told and she knew I drove in from SF for 3 hours to see her and she wouldn't even come out to see me if even a mere second to have a civil and polite conversation with her. My daughter and I left and lost half a day. I would heavily reconsider going to Natomas Optometry for anything. Dr. Myra Lew and the staff there couldn't have cared less for a person. Think about it. Why would anyone go there and trust something as important as literally one's health, much less one's vision, to these people, especially when there are so many other options out there. Even restaurants, retailers, and any number of businesses have never done something like this to me. Dr. Myra Lew had her own interests in mind and not those of her customer. I feel like she considers herself more of business person who's looking for that extra dollar than helping people. I guess that's the level of an optometrist, or how she perceives her own self. I have no doubt she would place her own interests above those of me or her patients. Other posts say this place is much more expensive than other places too. Tell me what reason is there to go there. read more
