I had the good fortune to discover Native Café back in 2018 when I was in Pensacola Beach for a good friend's wedding. Located in an excellent spot on Via De Luna Drive, Native Café is conveniently located within walking distance of numerous hotels. Prior to leaving our hotel, I "Yelped" local restaurants and Native was near the top of the list with almost 500 reviews, so I knew it had to be a solid choice. I admit that I never even looked at the menu prior to our arrival and initially thought it was a Southwest themed restaurant based on the exterior façade. However, immediately upon walking through the front door, it was immediately apparent that this was definitely a Gulf Coast / beach themed establishment. As per their website, Native is a "local restaurant , owned and operated by fifth generation Pensacolians". Their goal is to "deliver homestyle breakfast and lunch with a consistence of quality food and service to their customers". I can say that they are true to their word, as the food and service are both excellent. The Corn Po' cakes (griddle cakes) are a solid choice for breakfast and they will keep you full for a long time, as they are as big as they are delicious. The crab cake appetizer is another favorite of mine as the ratio of crabmeat to bread crumbs is impressive. I also enjoyed the Florida fish tacos here. Although quite tasty, they are not prepared in the Ensenada style as you would find in Southern California; however, they are still quite tasty. If you are looking for a quiet intimate restaurant, this is NOT the place for you. The dining room is fairly small and the restaurant always seemed to be packed. However, if you are looking for delicious local food with great service, then I suggest you try it out. read more

Came here with a group of friends on a Friday hoping we caught brunch, but it was too late. However, we decided to stay for lunch, and it was a good idea. All the sandwiches looked amazing, so I split the Angry Bird and the Crabby Patty with a friend. The Angry Bird was phenomenal. I enjoyed how juicy and tender the chicken was, and the sauce really topped it off. The bread was also a plus because it was warm and toasty. The Crabby Patty had a thick crab cake inside, which was good. However, there was no sauce inside. We asked for a side of tartar sauce, which made it more tasty. However, when I got the check, they charged me 50 cents for the sauce, which they did not notify me about. Other than that, it was a cute, cozy place that's great for breakfast/lunch while you're vacationing on the beach. read more

Their most ordered menu item-the crab cakes Benedict was amazingly delicious. Their homemade hollandaise sauce is special! Our server Mandy was just wonderful and kept the coffee coming. :) The boys loved the peanut butter pancakes, and we all loved the homemade biscuits. (Big and buttery, and oh so fluffy!) Our wait was about 30 minutes but they texted us when it was time. The food is worth the wait! You can buy their coffee and the seasonings they use on their breakfast potatoes and crab cakes. The food came out quickly and accurately. Prices are more than reasonable. It's a small place, so timing is probably everything, if you're planning on going here! I love Native Cafe. I visit for breakfast every time I'm in Gulf Breeze. The service is great - I've always had kind waiters/waitresses. The menu offers a brunch selection however, I've only tried the breakfast options. I always order the hungry native which is essentially "the works." Never been disappointed. The place is decorated with beautiful beach art that is also available for sale. There is a small gift shop where you can purchase t-shirts, hats, stickers, etc. Great place to visit while on vacay! read more

All the talk is legit, this place is really good. I had the traditional eggs Benedict with a side of cheese grits and devoured all of it despite not being that hungry when I went in. The best part was their homemade hot sauce the server suggested I use. Worked great with the eggs Benedict. No wait for me either - locals say get there before 8:30am so i did. Wow, what a great find!! I found this place on Yelp and very glad I did. We went in around 1:30pm on a Friday. There was no wait and the staff was fantastic! Our server was very informative and nice. The decor is cool. We ordered Fish Tacos, Chicken Tacos and cheeseburger. Everything came out quickly and was very good. The fish tacos were great! We would go back just for the tacos we didn't have breakfast but thought it was great to have that as an option! We will definitely visit again next time in town! read more

It was a cute place and the food had a lot of potential. We went for breakfast, of course. I had the eggs Benedict with crab cakes instead of English muffins. The hollandaise sauce was REALLY tart. But not bad. But the crab cakes were really weird -- kinda like a McGriddle with crab inside. The orange juice was strained and watered down but the portion was large. My wife loved her Belgian waffle. The service was really good. The decor was touristy. Four stars if the crab cakes had been more conventional. Tough to get five stars in such a touristy area because the least common denominator always has to prevail. read more

Had not been to the Native Cafe for a number of years due to the Pandemic and travel schedules. I love the new space. I ordered breakfast and it came to the table nearly cold. The waitress asked me how my meal was and I told her that it was cold. She said that she would tell the chef. I have learned to never to ask for a new meal due to excessive wait periods. So...I ate the meal. At the end of the service the waitress never mentioned the issue, did not take anything off of the bill. $40+ for a cold meal. Steer clear of this place. read more

Food is subpar. Service is horrific. Ambiance is as expected. We sat at the table for 20 minutes(no joke) without even water or acknowledgment from the server. When our server finally showed up, we ordered drinks and food all together. Food arrived before we were given water. Bloody Mary's arrived after we finished eating and we never received the coffee we ordered. A friend ordered a BLT and received an egg sandwich. She didn't say anything because she thought she would end up without anything to eat so she silently dealt with it until the rest of us noticed. This was 100% due to the server's lack of competency. Native Cafe is a cozy breakfast and lunch place right on pensacola beach. It is owned by locals and patronized by both locals and tourists alike. They serve all types of egg dishes, flavored pancakes, omelets, french toast, biscuits and gravy, egg burritos, and Benedict's The lunch menu has several unique items not available in chain restaurants. Shrimp and Grits, po'boys, tacos and quesadillas. They also have several types of burgers, and sandwiches, soups, salads, and sides. The food is very good. The servers seem to be of college age and are very good. This place gets crowded in season, so bring your patience. Very small cute little place. We've been eating breakfast here for past 3 yrs. it's convenient because its literally across the street from our hotel. If you are in a hurry my advice would be to skip this place! There is always a wait or line to get in. The inside has very few tables, maybe 12 and counter seating. I can't imagine what the wait must be like in the summer!! We came first week of October. The inside is decorated with paintings from local artists and it's all for sale. The service is great. There are a lovely group of young girls who are always on point, cheerful and pleasant to deal with. The food arrives fast and it's good. The coffee is never really as hot as I would like. They have some creative things on the menu such as seafood omelettes and crab cake Benedict. I had scrambled eggs, toast and potatoes. The parking is plenty it's in a big strip mall. Most reasonably priced eggs without having to go over the bridge and pay the toll. Went at 9am on a Saturday in the off season place was still packed and a few groups waiting, I sat at the bar. Hostess helped clean up area so I could take spot of couple who had just left every one was friendly and efficient. Food was as good as any basic breakfast( bacon could be crispier for my taste), would definitely recommend the grits. Pancakes looked good also, but I didn't order them. It was clean and nicely decorated gives out good local vibes. Only has about 20 tables so expect to wait a bit if you have a group and go at a busier time of year. read more

This is a tourist trap. The food is very expensive and overpriced because of the convenience of being on the beach. I've been here several times while on vacation and I have noticed if you ask for a recommendation they will always suggest the most expensive items (crab dip and king crab legs). If the check is high the server assumes they get a higher tip. The drinks are actually really good and cheap (I assume this is so you can get drunk and spend more money). I personally don't buy crab legs anymore because I can go purchase the crab from the market for a much cheaper price and cook them myself. Totally worth it. If you are going to eat here I suggest the fried deviled crab or the crab legs. Despite everything being overpriced they have good sized crab. read more

Not on the beach, but excellent service and food was great. My husband and our 8 yr old went for breakfast and could not have been happier with their service. He said the staff was more than accommodating. They got a to go order for me so I can sit on the balcony of the hotel and look at the ocean while I eat my breakfast. Eight-year-old ordered bear pancakes and love those. My husband ordered egg and bacon breakfast, I was very please. I got the stuffed French toast and it was great. Highly recommend this business. This is not on the beach, but right across the street from our hotel, the Hilton Pensacola Beach. It's more on the bay side. Go early! We tried to get in there yesterday around 10 and it was a one hour wait. They went in this morning at 8:30 and walked right in. read more
