This place is an over priced tourist trap. We paid 60 $ for four eggs. A cup of beans, a bowl of grits. Two table spoons of salsa and a half cup of beans. The tortillas were straight out of the package =cold. We thought we'd try local instead of hotel breakfast and we REGRET it. The Hilton has an excellent AYCE buffet for 24 $ PP with beverages and the food is 100 times better than Native cafe. They are obviously charging their customers to pay for their expanded space. Usually when my friends and I make our annual October Pensacola Beach trip we only eat out at dinner or lunch. This year my friend decided she had a hankering for pancakes. Cue me looking in Yelp for a local place to hit up. We rolled in about 830 am on Friday morning and were lucky enough to be seated right away. The place is bright, clean and cozy. Coffee was solid. Menu had a nice selection of breakfast items. I elected for the crabcake bennies with a generous helping of the house hot sauce on my potatoes (watch out tabasco!) and my friend was able to satisfy her pancake want. We travel to Pensacola every year for my birthday celebration. This is the first time I've been to the Native Cafe. I learned about this place from a post on Facebook. We arrived to our hotel before we were able to check in so decided to go get breakfast. I ordered the stuffed French toast and a spicy Bloody Mary. Very nice grits! DH had them with his shrimp and grits... nice! I had them with my scrambled eggs, tortillas and salsa. Nicely done eggs and again great grits. Nothing special here except great breakfast food. They had Eggs Benedicts on the menu but didn't try as well as a few kinds of salads, sandwiches and burgers. Working in food industry and understanding we are on an island, I expected higher prices here. However, I didn't expect one egg to coat over $4. After being told I couldn't substitute the pancake for one French tst I ordered the French tst and wanted to add an egg but for $4.+, I decided the 2 prices of French tst and the 1/4 cup of homefries would do. That with a water cost me $18. Not coffee, no OJ and no milk, I had water. My father ordered 2 eggs over medium, he got a 1/4 cup of potatoes and 1 slice of tst cut in half to look like 2. His bills was $15. 4 of us ate, pretty sure the 4 if us shared a potatoes and the bill was around $75 for breakfast. 2 waters and 2 cups of coffee. Simple small portioned breakfast that was average tasting at best but cost like I was eating at Gordon Ramseys. To tip it off our waiter was an ass. Never left a bad tip anywhere but did here. First time customer, recommend by some locals. It was a Friday at 9a, wait was 50 mins - ended up being closer to an hour. Now with a wait like that, it intrigued me so I did it. The staff was friendly and they were quick about seating you but it's a SMALL place so there is only so much they can do make your wait less. I had their favorite Crab Benedict and it was really good, I wouldn't say worth the hour wait tho. By 11a when were finally done eating to head out, there was no wait. So def worth checking out but would come at a slower time. They do serve mimosas and Bloodys - delicious! Hope to come back to try some of the other menu items that were recommended as well. read more

I ate here later in the day and almost skipped it because they close at 3 pm. Glad I didn't. Immediate eating. Small coastal diner on Pensacola beach that is just east of the main part of the strip. Surrounded by other eateries, there is plenty of competion and Native Cafe is a clear favorite. Since I was only going to visit once, I went with the Yelper favorite of crab cake benedict. Yup, you gotta have it. The crab cakes themselves are worth it but with the poached eggs and english muffin, it is a must have. After such a great breakfast for lunch, I glanced at their specials board and saw Cioppino. Couldn't pass up a bowl to go for dinner. I prefer a thinner broth but it was vary good with plenty of mussels and fish/shrimp bites. Used my bread to mop up every bite. read more

Visited this place on vacation with my wife. Our friends from the area suggested it, and we were so glad that we decided to check it out. They were very busy, but super friendly and you could tell they were on top of their game. The food was delicious and the pictures just don't do it justice. The steak and egg sandwich I got was perfect! My wife loved her shrimp and grits as well. A very relaxed vibe, and very welcoming. Definitely going to be back on our next trip. read more

My partner and I used to come here years ago and it was our favorite spot.. we moved away and then back a month ago - took her to Native for nostalgic reasons on her birthday, June 3rd - terrible. Server was nothing short of frazzled - she couldn't answer our questions and when we asked for syrup, she brought us a sugar-free bottle of knock-off syrup from the grocery store. Doesn't get cheaper than that. And yes, it was still in the store-bought bottle, all sticky on the outside too. On top of this, my shrimp and grits tasted like... well, horrible. No flavor whatsoever, shrimp far from fresh, and to top it off they were out of hot sauce. Unfortunately not a single thing was right, and when I asked the gentleman server if something had changed over the years, his answer was short and unsatisfying. Idk what happened, this place used to be awesome. Maybe the remodel ruined it. 10/10 do not recommend. read more

This is a delightful place for breakfast. Hubby and I ate here a few times, and enjoyed every bite. Their coffee is great as is, but the specialty mocha was fabulous. The staff were cheerful and engaging with each visit. We were there on a Sunday morning, fortunately we got seated right away even though they were busy. Service was spotty at best. My drink was made and sitting at the bar waiting to be delivered until I pointed it out to the server, my wife's coffee was never refilled. I liked what I had to eat but we both had eggs in our meal which we ordered over hard and they were both still runny. We did mention to server. We will probably go back as I liked the menu options. I had the good fortune to discover Native Café back in 2018 when I was in Pensacola Beach for a good friend's wedding. Located in an excellent spot on Via De Luna Drive, Native Café is conveniently located within walking distance of numerous hotels. Prior to leaving our hotel, I "Yelped" local restaurants and Native was near the top of the list with almost 500 reviews, so I knew it had to be a solid choice. I admit that I never even looked at the menu prior to our arrival and initially thought it was a Southwest themed restaurant based on the exterior façade. However, immediately upon walking through the front door, it was immediately apparent that this was definitely a Gulf Coast / beach themed establishment. As per their website, Native is a "local restaurant , owned and operated by fifth generation Pensacolians". Their goal is to "deliver homestyle breakfast and lunch with a consistence of quality food and service to their customers". I can say that they are true to their word, as the food and service are both excellent. The Corn Po' cakes (griddle cakes) are a solid choice for breakfast and they will keep you full for a long time, as they are as big as they are delicious. The crab cake appetizer is another favorite of mine as the ratio of crabmeat to bread crumbs is impressive. I also enjoyed the Florida fish tacos here. Although quite tasty, they are not prepared in the Ensenada style as you would find in Southern California; however, they are still quite tasty. If you are looking for a quiet intimate restaurant, this is NOT the place for you. The dining room is fairly small and the restaurant always seemed to be packed. However, if you are looking for delicious local food with great service, then I suggest you try it out. read more

I love Native Cafe. I visit for breakfast every time I'm in Gulf Breeze. The service is great - I've always had kind waiters/waitresses. The menu offers a brunch selection however, I've only tried the breakfast options. I always order the hungry native which is essentially "the works." Never been disappointed. The place is decorated with beautiful beach art that is also available for sale. There is a small gift shop where you can purchase t-shirts, hats, stickers, etc. Great place to visit while on vacay! read more

Came here with a group of friends on a Friday hoping we caught brunch, but it was too late. However, we decided to stay for lunch, and it was a good idea. All the sandwiches looked amazing, so I split the Angry Bird and the Crabby Patty with a friend. The Angry Bird was phenomenal. I enjoyed how juicy and tender the chicken was, and the sauce really topped it off. The bread was also a plus because it was warm and toasty. The Crabby Patty had a thick crab cake inside, which was good. However, there was no sauce inside. We asked for a side of tartar sauce, which made it more tasty. However, when I got the check, they charged me 50 cents for the sauce, which they did not notify me about. Our server Mandy was just wonderful and kept the coffee coming. :) The boys loved the peanut butter pancakes, and we all loved the homemade biscuits. (Big and buttery, and oh so fluffy!) Our wait was about 30 minutes but they texted us when it was time. The food is worth the wait! You can buy their coffee and the seasonings they use on their breakfast potatoes and crab cakes.
