The restaurant was clean, well-lit, and had plenty of available seating. I ordered the quarter chicken with Peruvian fried rice and sweet plantains. Everything was exceptional; the rice and plantains were cooked perfectly, and while I did think the chicken was slightly salty, it was still very tasty. I also enjoyed the green sauce provided, though the food was flavorful enough on its own. My only minor suggestion is for the staff to ask guests whether they prefer white or dark meat when ordering. Aside from that, the meal was excellent. If you are looking for authentic, great-tasting Peruvian chicken, I highly recommend stopping by El Pico de Oro.

However, we decided to stay and order lomo saltado, one with white rice, the other with fried rice. To be fair, the food wasn't bad. The flavors were fine, but to us, it just didn't taste like authentic Peruvian food. If you're looking for a quick, casual meal and aren't expecting a traditional Peruvian dining experience, this place may work for you. The place is setup more as a fast food place than a restaurant. You order and pay then sit down. From the short time we were there it looks like they do mostly takeout service rather than dine in and you'll feel it. Unfortunately, based on our experience, this wouldn't be a place we'd return to when looking for Peruvian food.

I'm more understanding on the fries because it came with a small cup of cheese sauce, but the soup is ridiculously small for $14. I feel ripped off. I asked them when I ordered since the soup was $14. Is it a full portion? It is a cup of soup not a bowl. I'm very upset by this. I've never paid that much for such a small bowl of soup their food prices and especially their lunchtime prices it's probably why I was the only person in there. It is such a shame I like Peruvian food. I guess I will go to the other places in Virginia Beach from now on.

I hadn't eaten there in over five years, so I was hoping the food was still as good as I remembered. My visit was on a Friday evening, around 6:00 or 6:30 PM. The dining room was relatively quiet, with only two other customers present, and I was immediately greeted upon walking in. I asked the cashier about the new menu item, the "Lamb Chops." He described them as pan-fried, noting that an order includes two to three nice-sized chops and comes with two sides. I decided to order the lamb chops to go, selecting the arroz chaufa (fried rice) which was a $1 upcharge and plantains as my sides. I was extremely disappointed when I opened my order and found that I had been served lamb shoulder for $18 and not the lamb chops I expected (typically rib or loin chops). To add to my disappointment the quality of the Lamb was very poor; it was tough, contained an excessive amount of connective tissue and fat, and was ultimately inedible. I ended up having to throw the entire portion away. The arroz chaufa also had inconsistent quality. While the flavor was good, the texture varied significantly, with parts being mushy and overcooked, and others remaining hard and undercooked. The Plantains were cut too thick and were also undercooked. Given the cost and the expectation associated with "Lamb Chops," I was extremely unhappy with my meal. I believe the cut of meat served was misrepresented, falsely advertised and the quality was unacceptable. I certainly cannot recommend this item to others and regret not ordering the chicken, which I know your restaurant prepares well.

Lol Result..the sugar cookie was nice and thin, and the filling was just right. But it was a little bland. It wasn't all too sweet. I guess I just have a sweet tooth and like it sweet. I am glad I tried it at least. I do want to come back and try their dishes.

If it's your first time or you simply can't decide what to pick, getting the samplers is absolutely the way to go. Every single bite was packed the flavor, but the accompanying sauces deserve a special shout out. The garlic cilantro sauce in the habanero sauce were so incredible that we bought a bottle of each to take home with us. To drink, we tried the chicha, which was rich, refreshing, and delicious. By the end of the meal, we were completely stuffed and satisfied, so much that we didn't even have room for dessert. That just gives us the perfect excuse to return. We will definitely be back to explore the rest of their menu. Highly recommend!

The black beans are yummy and packed with flavor, although for my personal taste, I'd love them drained just a little more because they can be pretty juicy. Now the fajita veggies? Those make my bowl SING. They add the perfect bite and flavor, and the plantains are cooked to absolute perfection--sweet, caramelized, and dangerously easy to keep eating. My only downside is that this meal could definitely be a little healthier. The chowfuh/fried rice can sometimes be pretty heavy on the oil, and the plantains can be oily as well. Delicious?
