I had a very disappointing experience with this eyeglass place, especially Priscilla, the assistant manager. At the happy valley location. I placed my order almost a month ago with her and have yet to receive my glasses. Despite repeated inquiries, the business has stopped responding and has been completely unhelpful in providing any updates. I am extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and the delay. Please don't make the mistake I did. this place is the most irresponsible i have come across. I went here for the first time because the health insurance covered a part of and it's been more than a month since I took the exam and chose the lenses and they're still not ready. When normally in the place I used to go it took me a week to 10 days maximum. And the worst part is that I paid more than $200 from myself and the insurance paid the rest. I have been calling and trying to find an answer and all they say is that they are sorry but they were late. How awful! The quality of the GLASS is sub-par to say the least. A pair of reading glasses from CVS that cost $30 are much higher quality. Trust me. Nationwide's glass quality is so cheap, scratches easily, very poor clarity, and you cannot get the glass clean - without having a "film" remaining, unless using soap & water. Plus the vision quality of the CVS glasses is 50% more clear and the lenses are thicker too. Don't waste your time or money on Nationwide Vision. I cannot believe the Diamondbacks sponsor them. I saw Dr. Priya Lele yesterday at Nationwide Optometry on McKellips Road in Mesa. I was so pleased with her thoroughness and diligence in making sure I had the correct Prescription. My ophthalmology Group, Arizona Eye Specialists, gave me the worst prescription that I have been struggling with for one month. I finally gave up and took my Husband's advice to see Dr. Lele. I would give ZERO stars if this was an option. The ladies in the front office (Vanessa & Robin) are extremely rude and short with customers. The optometrist was already 40 minutes behind for eye exams when I showed up 10 minutes early for mine. All the staff was gossiping about how they couldn't wait to go home and relax. They made me complete all paperwork that I had already completed the previous two years despite the fact that I informed them nothing had changed. I have bad wrists making it painful to fill out paperwork on a clipboard. Despite telling them this, I was not offered any assistance. The paperwork explicitly lists sections asking for initials if anything has changed so them making you completely fill out new forms is BS. Why can't they print out the previous paperwork and ask for any changes like every other doctors office in America? Avoid this place if at all possible. The only reason I go is location. I wish a competitor that gave exams would move into Norterra. read more

Went to Nationwide Vision at Cooley Station in Gilbert AZ. a month ago for glasses. I explained the urgency that I will be driving across the US in a month and needed to get my glasses prior. Even though they advertise two pair for 80 bucks, I ended up paying an additional 500 plus dollars from my pocket after insurance. This was for progressives. Two weeks later, on time, my glasses arrive. But when I went in, The glasses gave me horrible double vision to the point I could not walk across their office. Both pair, clear lens and sunglass were the same problem. They could not fix them. They said they had to order regular bifocals for me and would put a rush on the order as my vacation is coming up. I reminded them I am leaving in two and a half weeks. She assured me they would be in before 2 weeks I called today as I did not get a call, was told they are being serviced and should come in some time next week. This is not acceptable as I am going to leave then. I was told they could not guarantee rushes. NO you promised me my glasses would be in prior to two weeks. Next week will be 3 more weeks for a simple lens. I insisted the person that guaranteed me call me by tomorrow morning, IF they are not in, I told them I want my money back so I can take my prescription elsewhere that can do glasses in less than 2 days. I also expect to get the money back for the difference of bifocals vs progressives since they are unable to provide me with them. I was told they do not refund. HORRIBLE service. Now I will be driving across the country with very bad vision and going another month or so before I get back without glasses. Please buyer beware. My family and I went to Nationwide to get an exam and new glasses. I chose to get sunglasses because my eyesight has not changed and my old glasses are just fine. My glasses are only meant for reading so they are bifocals, and I wanted the sunglasses to be the same so that I can wear them out and still see my phone or watch. The first time they were ready, the prescription of the near sided part was so strong, my eyes were going cross eyed. So I had to see the Dr again and I requested that the new sunglasses would be the same as my regular glasses. I said it like five times. She agreed and I wait another two weeks to get my glasses, and there is no bifocals. they are just sunglasses. The lady said, I will talk to the manager and see what we can do. I then asked if they could adjust my old glasses that was on my face. She said sure, and went to the back to correct them, but she broke them. She comes back to me and tells me that they broke and there is nothing they could do. My glasses are Oakley's and they cost me a lot of money and they are only a year old. How are they not responsible for breaking someone else's glasses? If she would have said something to me before hand, I would have said never mind, but I have had other glasses adjusted before and never had this problem. read more

Every Nationwide has different glasses. I believe this one has better options. They also have prescription sun glasses like ray bans for $179. Usually I buy the warranty and it feels like it's always misleading on what they can fix and etc. For example I bought some sun glasses and they said I should get the warranty cause if anything breaks they can fix it & I have a year and I can swap my sun glasses for something else. Well came this week & the receptionist said they can't but I told her you guys said you can and another worker said I can do it. So I don't know if they still do it or not but every time I come it feels like I pay a lot of money for glasses. Like $300 for regular glasses & that's including insurance. read more

I just read them some of the Yelp reviews, and I should have done this before ever booking my kids and my appts. I agree with the other reviewers..... there is something wrong with some of their front office people. I work in sales, and pride myself on being able to communicate with any personality type. Not here! The girl who "welcomed" me was very cold and nasty. I wish I could have seen her name, but Nationwide needs to give her a class on human kindness! I was hoping the experience would improve, but the girl that did our vision screens was just as nasty as the first. She demanded everyone to follow her direction, and seemed bothered by questions. We ended up seeing Dr Ruta and I have never been so rushed thru an appointment. He didn't want to field any of my questions, so I eventually dropped the concern. The only saving grace with this appointment for my kids and I was interacting with Robyn. She is very sincere and kind. She is the only reason my review wasn't "1" star. Next year we will be moving on to another location for our vision checks. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Apparently they have a new paperless billing system so they text you information/statements. Ok fine however I have not been there in a year so I went to look at it to see what its about. They send me a $25 bill from a YEAR AGO. I try to call and inquire about it that same day and was "transferred" to a "billing department" where I am left on hold, no one answers. Next day I get another text about my "so called bill", oh great I apparently will get a text everyday for this, ya know send "STOP" to opt out of messages. I call the office, Teresa answers I ask to speak to billing, (can already her a tone in her voice, I get "transferred" and a minute later I get "how can I help you?" I ask if this is billing or Teresa, it's Teresa. I explain my whole story, asking why a YEAR LATER I am getting a message that I owe money, I have never received a paper bill or anything. She states "I don't know why", hold on let me see what I can find out (again with a tone) Comes back on telling me the insurance didn't pay it all and that's what they are saying I owe. THIS IS NOT ABOUT $25.00, IT WAS A YEAR AGO, so I asked to speak to the manager. ROBIN the MANAGER gets on and has an even worse attitude, giving me the same spiel, and say's I don't know why it took this long for insurance to come back and say you owe us this amount, so you owe it and what do I want her to do about it, well Robin I think you should be writing off the $25 because my insurance has NEVER taking a year to come back on a claim. She then proceeds to hang up on me. You have got to be kidding me. The most rude, disrespectful staff. I will be following up with my insurance company, again it is not about the whole wapp'in $25.00, it's is about customer service and the principle of it. DO NOT GO THERE!!! read more

So reading these reviews, this place gets a really bad rap. We've been going here for years. While there have been times where they're incredibly busy, nobody likes to wait, of course it's going to start you off on the wrong foot. I try to schedule my visits on the least busiest days. I get my eyes examined by the optometrist and I usually take my prescription home and order classes online because they are less expensive. This time I decided to buy glasses because they were running a great special . Priscilla help me find my frames, there were so many that I couldn't make up my mind. They were also lightweight, which is what I was looking for. Priscilla really took the time to answer all my questions. I feel I'm going to be happier because adjustments can be made right in the store as opposed to ordering online and having to send them back. All in all my visit was top notch five stars. I came here 2 years ago. My first appointment was cancelled due to "no doctor being here". This was after several confirmations. 2 years later...same exact thing. I only decided to go back because the location was so convenient but I was dreading it. Last time I went, the doctor spent literally like 6 minutes with me. He completely rushed through. The only reason I'm giving this a star is because the doctor was somewhat nice. They have taken 3 weeks to have my glasses delivered when I was told 7-10 business days. I called on the 10th business day and they had no idea why my glasses were taking so long and she didn't offer to look into it until I asked to speak with a manager. She called me back and said the lenses were back ordered and would be rushed/delivered in the next couple of days, I called 4 days later and they "should" be here next week. This place is very convenient to where I live. The store is very clean and the environment is welcoming. When I came here for an appointment a while back they did not take me in when I was suppose to be seen. I recently called Saturday because I had I believe I had pink eye, and wanted to get seen as soon as possible. They asked who my health insurance was and I gave it to them, they said they never heard of it and refused to look up. *update* So I realized I never got a call for my contact. Almost been 30 days. So I call, I get the standard bs I cause that they tried to contact me but my phone was disconnected. Which my phone was never disconnected. After the lady on the phone told me that it got really awkward, and she pretty much hurried me off the phone. I'm keeping my rating where it's at mostly because of Robyn. She helped me the past two times I was in there and she was nurturing and sweet. She took the time and had the patience to explain stuff to me to ease my anxieties. Now, I can see my first review being a little brash- but I'm not sorry. I did not feel heard by that doctor at my appointment and as someone who works in and has worked in customer service and the medical field- you should make sure the patient or client feels comfortable not like they are just cattle being pushed through. Given I know I was already anxious because your hours are 9 am and the message I got told me to arrive at 830. So I arrived at 828 and no one was there so I panicked and called and left a message. I didn't even get a follow up from that. ------ was happy with my first appointment. I don't remember the doctors name but he was so nice and really took his time. I didn't even know my eye was swollen and that was amazing. I felt great. I come in for my follow up to a different doctor who seemed like he railed a line of coke before I got in and I go really felt like cattle. I don't know if my eye is any better from a month ago because honestly to me it looks the same. And I was told contacts WOULDNT be a good idea a month ago and the doctor I saw this time literally had zero clue like he didn't read my file and I almost feel I was pushed to contacts even if my eye isn't ready for them because that wasn't answered. I felt dismissed and rushed by the doctor. I wasn't aware I was scheduling with a different one when I scheduled my follow up as that wasn't communicated to me. Went to Nationwide on Happy Valley today to get my son new glasses. They were busy and we were second in line. The lady at the counter was incredibly rude and treated us terribly because my son is adopted and had Medicaid insurance. She took other people ahead of us and continued to be abrupt and rude. The lady who ordered his glasses never measured his face or put dots on the lenses to show where his pupils are. they better work for him or they will get more than a scene! They will get a Broadway musical. He has a lot of health conditions and that is why kid adopted from foster care get Medicaid until 18. I don't appreciate below standard care. They get their money regardless. The second lady was nice but in my opinion didn't do her job correctly. I wish I didn't have to go here but with his insurance we don't have a choice! read more

My last eye exam was done here. Everything went well. However, I made a recent appt., called on my way to let them know I was going to be about 10 mins. late & would that be a problem? Rep on phone said no & he recognized me by phone number. I get there in 6 mins., start to fill out forms & same rep comes over to me to & says their system is down, all their locations are closed on Thursday's and that I wouldn't be able to get my prescription until POSSIBLY Friday. So now I have to make 2 trips, and also cancel my appt. regarding eye glasses & lenses today, after eye exam at another facility. I know it's not the employee's fault that their system is down BUT he could've updated me on the phone to give me the option of keeping my appt. or rescheduling. I just recently decided to look into getting my eyes examined. I have been having trouble reading so I decided to use Nationwide because they were close to home. I made an appt online, within 20 minutes, someone called me to confirm my NEXT DAY appt. I went to my appt, they were on time, friendly and amazing. Kelli helped me with finding the perfect frames for my face and made me feel at ease. She was hilarious and instantaneously my best friend! lol... It was fabulous. Dr. Ratu? I think was his name, oh my gosh, hilarious and so quick and knew exactly what my problem was. SMART SMART! I ordered my frames (2 pairs) and they said they would call me when they came in in about 5 - 7 days. I got a call 2 days later that they were ready to be picked up! WOW! My insurance covered about 60%. Only reason being that I got 2 pairs and I went designer frames. No big deal. I recommend them highly. We have had really good results with our basic eye exam needs. While they are a very g service , I find that they are easy to work with and easy to book an appt with at a convenient time. They wanted to make a dramatic change to my prescription and I wanted to try something a little more mild. I had to walk out and didn't pay and won't return. We had my son in for eye exam, contacts and find new glasses. We also wanted to ensure they could offer contacts to my son ho will be playing football and the googles we had ( from another eye place) did not work as the fogged up when he sweated. I had told this to the appointment setter by phone but was told when we got there it was not scheduled but I could have 30 mins to see if my son could put them on and off. I certainly appreciated being able to get this done same day . Ashley was very patient in helping my son with his first time experience with contacts. Ashley kept encouraging my son even when I became stressed due to being pressed for time by the other staff. Eye Exam fine, eye ware selection fine, lab work is terrible!!!! The pro's at the "lab" took two weeks to not fill my prescription properly so had to send them back. Wait two weeks then told a lie about defective frames that they bent up removing the screwed up prescription, then sent them back not done. Then I'm told to choose another frame and they would rush it! THEY DID NOT RUSH THEM!!! ALL LIES!!! They out right lie to you the customer!!!! I will never do business with these clowns again!!! Every time i have made an apt here, it always takes about 2 hours of wait before the doc see u. They overbook and you have to pay in your time. The check in is smooth and staff is nice, but it is not worth the 2 hour wait. They dont really have an answer when you tell them that ur apt was an hour ago and you are still waiting. And they are sneaky in the fact that they make u sign up the paperwork for different fees that u end up paying bc ur insurance wont cover it. read more

I usually go to Costco but took a chance on nationwide, exam was quick and easy, pretty good selection of glasses, i wasnt happy with the pair I choose (they were too heavy) and they were very accommodating in making sure i got a pair that were comfortable for me, even tho I made several trips to the store or adjustments I had a very good experience. read more
