Good grief, where to begin. Just being in this store gives off bad vibes. Looking at frames and trying them on is an ordeal with hovering sales people telling you to do this, do that. Their prices are MSRP plus, if you go here, look around, try on, find something you like, note the make/model, leave and buy frames online for a significant discount. This was my second visit at Optical Gallery Arizona and it was just as good as my first. They're conveniently located right off 39th Ave. / Happy Valley within very close proximity to the I-17. They're in the same strip mall that Safeway is located in with plenty of ample parking, as well. My glasses are getting a little fuzzy and I know my vision is changing. Going to the eye doctor isn't high up on my list of things I love to do, but Optical Gallery Arizona makes the visit awesome every time. It's been about 2.5 years since I was here last and I knew I was overdue for an appt. I called and was able to get an appt. on Friday after work right away. No long waits here! Unlike some ophthamology offices, you need to wait months and months and months to get in. Not here which is another one of the awesome bonuses at Optical Gallery Arizona. The entryway is super clean. I'm greeted everytime I walk in by the receptionist (so sorry I forgot your name!). I did not wait long at all and Brooklyn called me back to start my eye exam. She's extremely friendly and made the visit pleasant. She explained everything she was going to administer and did so professionally, thoroughly and efficiently. After she ran through the glaucoma puff 'o air test, color blind exam, peripheral vision exam and depth of field test - Dr. Lampert called me back to his office to complete the exam. He's a great guy and very down to Earth. He's extremely candid, very personable, professional and the kinda guy you'd want touching your eyeballs. He confirmed my vision did, indeed, change a bit and got my prescription up to par. Once Dr. Lampert finished his exam, he sent me back up front so that I could chat with Miles about a new pair of Oakleys. Let me preface this by saying that the previous Oakley Crosslinks I got from Optical Gallery Arizona two years ago is by far the best pair of eyeglasses I have ever owned. Ever. I've been wearing glasses for the last 30 years and I'd like to think I know a thing or two about comfort, fit and what works. I do a lot of cycling and I knew I wanted a lifestyle performance pair of eyeglasses and Oakleys fit the bill perfectly. Additionally, the lab they utilize can incorporate a lot of technology into the lens you get. You can incorporate a pair of sunglasses into the lens that attach via magnets. They're not noticeable at all and a genius way to incorporate sunglasses without switching frames. (I'm not going to pretend I know all of the fancy optician-lingo so go see Miles for more info!) Needless to say, Miles knows his stuff and I had no issues trusting him with this next pair of glasses I ordered from him. He set me up with new Oakley frames and the exact same lens technology that he suggested last time. You're right. Optical Gallery Arizona isn't exactly a location where I've gotten the least expensive pair of glasses in my life. If you want the el cheapo $89 pair of eyeglasses with the buy one, get one free promo that Vision World at the mall offers... this isn't your place. Truth be told, those $89 frames are going to turn your skin green due to oxidation from sweat, moisture and the elements and then the nose pads are going to fall off and then the el cheapo metal and plastic are going to break down. No, the Nationwide and Vision World pair is nowhere NEAR the equivalent of a solid pair of name brand frames you would get from a place like Optical Gallery Arizona. Please don't tell me my Oakley Crosslinks aren't any better than your $69.99 frame you got from the mall kiosk. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. Buy nice, don't buy twice! My eyeglasses go on my face the moment I wake up every morning and aren't removed until the time I go to bed. That is a WHOLE lot of hours spent wearing my glasses. Why in the hell would you cheap out on an item that: 1.) You need to see clearly. 2.) You wear all day everyday. As far as I'm concerned, I have no problem spending the extra at Optical Gallery Arizona because I have seen first hand the value they provide. The glasses you see on my face in my profile photo are the very same Oakley Crosslinks I have had now for 2.5 years and still going strong. Looking forward to the day my new glasses come in! This was my experience. The optometrist was very polite. The exam process itself was quick. That was impressive considering the number of people inside was limited due to Covid. What didn't work for me where the cost of the services and frames and lack of price transparency. I've worn glasses all of my life. I've been to several eyeglass doctors over the years. I have experienced everything from Walmart to high end optometrists in large cities with high costs. I found the price for frames and service at this office extremely high In comparison. The frames showcased throughout the store had no pricing listed, except for the sale rack. The salesman confirmed that I had a $200 credit through my insurance. Every time I ask him for the cost of a frame, his answer was a minimum of $400. I was not looking at designer brands like Fendi, Ray-Ban, Maui Jim's, Dior etc. Businesses are entitled to their mark ups, but this was a bit ridiculous. I felt as if I was buying a car. Perhaps that works for some people, it just didn't work for me. I ended up skipping on frames and having the lenses in my existing frames updated. They quoted me a few hundred dollars and this was after insurance was applied. Again, in my experience I've never paid this much. I also found the no return or refund policy inconvenient. If it weren't for the friendly optometrist, I would give this establishment one star. I wish them the best of luck in the future, but I won't be coming back. The only place I am going for eyeglasses now! Disclaimer: I did not get an eye exam here, but based on my experience, I think I will next time! I first came to Optical Gallery only looking for frames since my optician's location didn't have anything I liked. I happened to arrive at the same time a rep for "Ic! Berlin" was showcasing many suitcases worth of demo frames. The staff at Optical Gallery were happy to let me try on many different options from the rep and also the store. The whole time the staff and the rep were very enthusiastically discussing what new frames to put on display, even trying them on themselves and complimenting each other. They even got me involved and encouraged me experiment with different styles! They are genuinely passionate about glasses fashion! You might be worried if they push super expensive luxury frames that are nothing close to their value. This is not the case! Optical Gallery reassured me that they focus on frames with great durability and longevity. They might be more expensive than frames you find at your average optician but it is nothing crazy. They are not chasing money, they just love eyeglasses! After an hour of the most positive and entertaining try-on session I've ever had I settled on a pair of Ic! Berlin frames. What really impressed me about Ic! Berlin is they all have a creatively engineered sliding hinge mechanism for the arms, no screws, and are made of a super thin and light flexible metal alloy. Interested in more options, I found a few more frames on the Ic! Berlin website I wanted to try. Turns out, Optical Gallery offer a $50 down payment to have any number of frames you want to try shipped to their store! It took a couple weeks to ship but I got to try on three more similar Ic! Berlin frames! I still decided to go with the first Ic! Berlin frames I chose but those three extra helped me finalize my decision, and the $50 down payment was applied to the cost of the frames. Sweet! Optical Gallery aren't just good at frames, they have all the optics down too. I was delighted to hear that they always recommend Trivex due to its superior clarity (I can't stand polycarbonate. See: Abbe value, chromatic aberration). And the anti-glare coating their lab uses is something new! It has this very subtle neon purple and teal diffusion instead of the ugly yellow-green glare that other anti-glare coatings give off. I find the neon legitimately cool! They also measure your IPD regardless if you had your exam there or not. Were the frames pricey? Yes, they retail over $500, which is over double what I originally had in mind. While insurance covered $200, $340 is still a lot for frames, but these are probably the slickest, lightest, most impressively constructed, deceptively simple frames I've ever had the pleasure of putting on my face. As for the cost of the prescription lenses, they are no pricier than the two other much larger chain companies I went to prior, and I think the optics are superior! read more

Love this place! The dr. Was on time, professional and kind The staff is great as well. Especially Miles! I picked out an expensive pair of sunglasses and wanted them to be prescription. No idea this wasn't an option for all sunglasses. I just assumed since they were in an eyeglass office, it could be done. At no point did Miles ever say otherwise. He said no one had done it. He saw my vision for these sunglasses and was determined to make it happen. He helped me pick out more affordable pair of regular glasses so my sunglasses dream could come true. These guys are the real deal. I had a prescription and needed some new spectacles. They actually had the Oakleys I was looking for. They gave me expert advise on that particular model and everything was covered by my insurance. I went to the like 10 years ago and even then they had stellar service. Paid for progressive lenses and ended up with bifocals that were close to what I needed. Do not waste your time! These people are rude! I dropped in with my mom to check into some prescription sunglasses. Our greeting was a lecture on how to pick up the glasses, not touch the lenses, and how to set them down. The vibe was unfriendly - definitely not interested in creating a warm and welcoming environment. After the first lecture by assumably the son, the dad zipped over to correct us and remind us of the rules for touching the glasses. My mom asked a question to which she got a short response that he was helping somebody else. At that point it was time to leave. Unbelievable that this place is still in business! read more

One person in particular (who works on the floor not with the dr) is not the best, he sucks. He gets very defensive about the glasses they have and will tell you any other glasses shop is no good. I was pleased last year when I went for my annual checkup and new glasses order. The Doc took his time with my exam, the staff was helpful. All was good with exception to the price of glasses. I have worn glasses for 20+ yrs and never paid this much, over $500. Fast forward to this yr! I will say I chose to return because I have been happy with the glasses they provided and wanted a similar pr. The Dr. whom was friendly the first time I saw him was quite the opposite this time, as if he were recovering from a good night previously?! My exam with him was less then 5min which I felt very inefficient and unprofessional. The staff was nice and worked well with the covid standards. I then purchased a pair of glasses with all bells and whistles for $730. Then I was informed it would take 5 weeks to get them in, ok, more covid stuff, I get it. Now 5 weeks later I was called and informed my glasses were in and I could come for an appt that I'd have to schedule on a Tuesday or Thursday to get fitted, ok, more covid. Peter the glasses fitting guy didn't seem to believe me when I suggest my glasses still seemed loose and was anxious for me to depart. This prevented from feeling like taking enough time to realize the prescription wasn't correct "shocker" in my right eye. Today, the day after I called the office and spoke with Brookline about the issue letting her know that my right eye was not correct. Her response was, how do you know? Well, I have fatigue and blurred vision in my right eye, having decent experience, thought this is a good sign of a bad prescription, however she informed me that it could take some getting used to?! Hum, maybe a place that seems to hold itself in high regard should value their high paying customers with the same standard??? Once I get this issue resolved, which I will, I will never return to this establishment. read more

Dr. Lampert is so nice and takes his time with you to make sure you get the right prescription for your glasses. After he is done with the exam, you go to the waiting room to pick out your frames. BEST EXPERIENCE!!!!!! I think we can all agree that customer service is just hard to come by now in days. Not only was I impressed with everyone in the office but I was jaw dropped by the way that Jenny Mai took care of me. The second we left I explained to my boyfriend that iv been getting glasses and contacts since I was 9 years old! And have NEVER been taken care of like that, she was extremely helpful. She was the perfect amount of professional, friendly and understanding. I told her I mainly wear my glasses to bed, so I don't mind the frames to much because I tend to fall asleep in them. She explained what cut I should get due to the thickness of lenses and how it will show with different shapes frames. In the past 20 years iv gone to many eye doctors due to living in different states and no one has gone through all the steps she took with me. After sharing this to my boyfriend who referred me, he explained every time he's gone to this location they have always gone over and beyond. I recently went to Optical Gallery for my annual exam and to get new glasses and contacts. Previously I've gone to places like Lens Crafters for glasses but decided to try a new place because my glasses have never fit properly from Lens Crafters. One of my friends recommended Optical Gallery because they helped her with her glasses. I live about 40 minutes from the office, but decided to give it a shot as I've been very frustrated in the past with my glasses. Dr. Lambert was great. He was friendly and took his time to ensure I had the right prescription. He had got me a trial of my contacts to wear for a week or two and then had me come back in to ensure they fit properly (as I have a bad astigmatism). The staff helped me pick out new glasses as well. They listened to what I liked and didn't like in my old glasses and helped me pick a pair of metal frames that would support my lenses. I have very bad vision and thick lenses so getting a frame that supported the weight of my lenses was important. This is where I had previously made mistakes at lens crafters (as no one helped me pick out a frame or gave me any advice). I did pay quite a bit of money for my glasses but it was very comparable to what I've paid in the past at Lens Crafters. I think that for something that I wear daily, ensuring that they are good quality is what is most important to me. Lastly, my glasses did take about 1 month to arrive, but the delay was due to the company who made my lenses made them so they didn't fit right in my frame. Optical gallery sent them back to be re-made so they would show less in my frame. I appreciated that they ensured my lenses fit right. read more

I needed to get my eyes checked and some new lenses for my frames. Everyone was very nice and in no time my exam was done. I got a call a couple of weeks later my glasses were ready. My vision with the new lenses was excellent, I was very happy. Unfortunately the frames broke after a couple of days. I guess I had replaced the lenses one to many times in the frames. I called Optical Gallery and asked if my new lenses could be installed in a new pair of frames from the same manufacturer. Unfortunately the frames were ground to fit the frames they were in. Optical Gallery said they would see if they could find the same frames. They were able to find the same frames and put my lenses in. They could have said they couldn't find the frames and I would have had to get new lenses for the new frames. An honest business will always get my return business. Finding a new place to purchase eyeglasses was part of a long list of "new" places/things/providers when I moved here from CA. I chose not to purchase glasses at my ophthalmologist's office, mainly due to their limited selection and the high cost. Truthfully, I didn't know what I wanted, but I knew I wasn't seeing it. Knowing that I wasn't able to make a purchase until the end of the month, I spent some time shopping around, gasping at the cost and often feeling pressured to select the optician's choice of what I should want. A common theme of Yelp reviews seems to be the high cost of quality eyewear. I noticed that there's not much deviation in price from one shop to another when you are looking at the same frame. While you can go cheaper (i.e., Walmart or Cosco) I still have a pair of unworn sunglasses that Costco couldn't get correct after three tries. You get what you pay for and if, like me, you have expensive taste in frames, then add on things like Progressive and Transition options the cost will be higher. When I walked into Optical Gallery I wasn't planning to buy yet. I explained to Miles what I was looking for--rectangular frames, metal, not plastic and since I'm frequently told I am boring, maybe we could go a little wild with a color (gray? blue?). Miles pulled exactly what I asked for--no rush/no pressure. Then he handed me a frame, said they were newer and he just wanted to see what they looked like on. Blue metal with big round lenses, they were everything I said I didn't want. I was totally stunned when I looked in the mirror. They looked great, totally changed my appearance and the color really brought out my eyes. Made in Germany, the workmanship was exquisite. My husband, an engineer, was fascinated by the no screw construction and the amount of abuse the metal frame could take. No, I am not always kind to my eyeglasses. I frequently wear them on the top of my head and have been known to fall asleep in them. When I returned to pick up the competed pair, they were adjusted for me and best of all the invisible bifocal division was in the right place. (This has been a sticky point in previous lenses). I felt we received excellent, unhurried service, had all my questions answered and we were treated well. I would return to this business. My husband keeps looking at me and commenting on the change (I think he really just wants to disassemble the frames) and I have had numerous compliments. I like the new look. Change is good. Maybe a purple streak in my hair will come next. read more

The office is in a great location is very clean and organized. All of the techs are very knowledgeable about insurance, what mine covers and doesnt. They did a great job of helping me pick out frames. I didn't feel like like they wanted to sell me something. After you meet with the Dr and he gives you your prescription you can fill in there or you can take It anywhere, even online and get new glasses. I chose to get mine from there. After I chose my frames they make sure you are going to look out the correct spot. I had progressive lenses. Then you come back when they come in from being made. They make sure everything is correct, they fit them for your face. You can stop by at anytime and have them cleaned and make sure the screws are still good. I highly recommend this Dr and office. They Are Very professional. Location is extremely easy to get to from all locations. read more

I had such a terrible experience with the staff and paid way too much for my glasses which are no better than Nationwide Vision which were cheaper and I got a nasty response from the doctor. Then he has sent me two nasty messages. I've read his responses to other negative reviews, seems the doc doesn't like bad reviews and it puts him in a bad temper. Good luck! I brought a prescription in from another doctor. They have a wide selection of quality and trendy frames, not the kinds that feel like toy glasses that you can find at Walmart or Costco. It really does show that they care about their eyewear collections. The doctor and entire staff was very friendly and patient. I just randomly found an optometrist when I moved here and this was the first place i found. I thought it looked really nice and had a great ambiance. The eye exam itself went fine. What I didnt like was that it seemed overpriced, over 130 dollars for the exam even with insurance. That part didnt bother me that much but they said for an extra 30 or so dollars they would take a special image of my eye and determine my eye health. I agreed and they took the image. When the Dr. came he basically just said, your eye is fine. He wouldn't have even mentioned it if I didn't ask about the image.
