Solid standby places that serve the local community every day also deserve some recognition. I have been several times, sitting at the counter, in a booth or at the tables and with a group in the back room. If you have some worn jeans or a well-loved shirt, you'll fit right in. The servers are easy to spot with logoed T-shirts, quick to take your order, refill your coffee or water and bring out hot food as soon as it shows up in the window to the kitchen. Although, I did get a few stares when I took photos of the food or those scrumptious cream and fruit pies from Sweet Spot Bakery in Caldwell. The décor is what you'd expect for a small-town community center of activity, green diecast metal models of John Deere and competing brands line the top of the walls on shelving, some vintage signage and some newer ones that favor sarcasm or humor. But my favorite signage advised is posted in the restrooms, the rules of the restaurant. You'll get a breakfast with decent sized orders of chicken fried steak or biscuits and peppered gravy, glass pitchers of syrup and a big scoop of whipped butter for the French toast. The breakfast sandwich, stuffed or cheesy hash browns or a variety of omelets is sure to satisfy you. Real thick sausage patties! Diner style food for lunch with soups and salads, several 1/3rd pound burger variations, fried food baskets that come with Texas Toast and French fries.

This is THE breakfast spot, after many years of eggs, hash browns and countless coffee mugs, Nathan's is worth the drive hands down! We ran across this spot a few years ago south of Caldwell down Hwy 19 AND it continues NOT to disappoint. The M-TH hours of 6A-2P work for any die hard breakfast eater AND in addition offers great lunch options (including homemade pie) for those adventurous sorts. They are area renowned for the Friday night prime rib dinners, they only last till they run out AND they always do. Step back into a rural nostalgia and enjoy real food - bring your appetites !

Oh my god. This was the best diner experience I've ever had. The fried food is done perfectly. Cheese curds we're better than Wisconsin curds. It's all perfectly crispy and not too oily. Menu is very creative with a lot of tempting option. Great service. Amazing food. I am FLOORED

Good food, good service, can't ask for anything more. I wish every neighborhood had a little cafe like Nathan's.

We dropped off my hubby's car to get his windows tinted in Caldwell and decided to grab breakfast…read morenearby. After a quick Yelp search, we found Cattlemen's Café--and what a fun find! The café was busy, but the service was friendly and the food arrived in generous portions. I ordered the half Belgian waffle with one egg, sausage, and bacon. Hubby went all in with an omelet, short stack, biscuits and gravy, plus a cinnamon roll to go! Everything was delicious, and we had plenty of leftovers. I even saved a few bites of breakfast meat for the fur babies to enjoy as a little treat when we got home. To our surprise, the café shares a building with a livestock auction, which is pretty freaking cool! We were secretly hoping to catch a live auction--or maybe spot Rip or Beth from Yellowstone--but apparently we came at the wrong time. We definitely plan to return when an auction is happening so we can get the full experience. Great food, friendly service (thanks to our server Nicole) , fun country atmosphere, and lots of quirky signs and cow-themed details to look at. We will definitely be back!

Very cute little diner in the most unexpected location…read more Enjoyed the decor and souvenirs for sale. The service was great very fast! Food was delicious too. Very large portions Rated a 4 because the coffee was terrible. Didn't ask for a different drink or request a refund. For a breakfast place the coffee should be delightful.
