Wonderful owners. I came here during a Saturday morning to pick up some breakfast. I ordered an assortment of arepas. This place was a mom and pop store, and it doesn't get more small business than that. I picked out an assortment of arepas to try out. For 4 people I ordered 6 and we definitely had leftovers as the arepas were quite large. I ordered the Huevos Perico, Pollo a la plancha, carne mechada, and queso de mano o Guayanes. They were all tasty and I would definitely recommend coming here. I would have to say though the prices that used to be there is long gone. Expect the arepas to be a little bit more pricier. Overall the arepas and flavors were great. I thought it's a great breakfast spot and that it should definitely be in the rotation for a possible breakfast spot. The best way to describe this place is that it is a traditional mom and pop hole in the wall. The best Venezuelan food in all of Atlanta. We came on a Saturday at lunchtime and it was not difficult for us to get a table and be served. Our order was taken immediately and food came out not five minutes later. The ambiance is quaint, you feel like you're at home. Their arepas are amazing but you can't go wrong with ordering anything. I love their fried yuca, plantains and their grilled chicken plate. Their arepa with chicken and vegetables (shredded chicken, which was so flavorful, with lettuce, onion, tomatoes and a half an avocado). It was so large I was worried about how I'd take home the leftovers. Needless to say, I ate the whole thing and questioned if it was acceptable for me to come back for dinner the same day. The Natarica Grill Restaurant may have a really small entrance and small sign, but once you get in it look much bigger and it gives you that food from home feeling. If you're Venezuelan you'll get it. And if you're not, you'll understand. The owners from Caracas care about their customers. I ordered via Grubhub and I am so happy! My first impression upon opening the box was that the food was packaged so neatly and nicely. My first bite was heaven. The tequeños are delicious. The dough is sweet, and a perfect pair to the salty cheese inside. I tried to order the guava and cheese, but they were unfortunately not available. Once I noticed that, as I got notified that a refund would be processing, I asked my boyfriend to call to see if they could substitute with just the regular cheese ones. I have been craving tequeños for days and needed them! They were able to substitute them, so that is what I received! My boyfriend is out of town right now, but as soon as he is back, we will get food from here together! He is from Venezuela, and I know he will love it. For my meal, I ordered a fried arepa with queso de mano + avocado. I had never had one fried before and it was a definite success! So crunchy and delicious. Tried out Natarica for the first time today. I had a go-to Venezuelan spot when I lived in MD, but this is the first one in Atlanta. Ordered an Arepa de reina pepiada and queso de mano o guayenese chachapa. Both were very good, fresh, and hit the spot! I was also interested in the patacon although I had never had it before. Do try the arepa here there are several to choose from chicken, veggie even beef with cheese. The beef with cheese is a personal favorite. Go ahead and grab the napkins you will need them. Slow roasted beef that falls apart with a thick piece of cheese melted brings this sandwich together. There are four different sauces to choose from the garlic is a good match for this arepa. The strength of the sauce can vary a bit so know going in you will need a mint afterwards. If your looking for lunch or a quick snack check this place out. Most items are under $5-8 each. I've tried a sampling of Natarica's menu and enjoyed every bit of it. It's an arepa stuffed with chicken salad and fresh slices of avocado. The shredded chicken in the Reina Pepiada is more tender and flavorful than the shredded chicken in the Pollo Mechado. Between the two, I suggest ordering the Reina Pepiada. At $3.59, it's a satisfying little sandwich and a terrific value. The cachapas are simply delicious. The pancakes are made with sweet corn. The Queso de Mano Cachapa is made with Queso de Mano cheese, which is a soft, white cheese commonly used in Venezuelan cuisine. The cheese is what makes this dish. The fried pancake as a whole is sweet and succulent. One cachapa ($5-7 depending on fillings) doesn't look like much, but it's actually quite filling. The empanadas are hot and hearty. The beef empanada ($2.50) has shredded beef inside. Its texture is a little coarse, but the meat is moist and savory. I like the flaky breading of the pastry, which thankfully isn't too greasy. The tostones and yuca are potato/fry-like sides. Tostones are plantains which have been sliced and deep-fried. Yuca is much the same way. I'd say both of these are harder and perhaps more dense than an American French fry and they have a lot more natural flavor. I think they are equally good and either easily suffices if you're looking for a starchy side dish. Ask for any special beverages they might have. Their "Jugos Naturales" (natural juices) last weekend was passion fruit juice. A little watered down, but not bad. They have espresso and cappuccino too. Service is great. Do you like authentic Venezuelan food? Then, no need to keep looking, this is it! If you are driving through Norcross on Buford Hwy, you might miss it with the sea of businesses in the area, but look for it, it is worth it! We learned about this place through a friend of ours, she's native Venezuelan. She had Natarica cater her wedding, and damn was it good! She later explained where it was, and come to find out its only 2 miles from my house! Jackpot! So decided to check it out on a Saturday morning (you know us, the early risers!). Was greeted immediately by the owners and it felt great. I'm Panamanian so it felt similar to a restaurant from back home, and we started chatting in Spanish. We had a small conversation about where i was from and things of that nature, and I told her I've never tried this restaurant before. So she broke it down to me and I then made my mind on what i wanted, The best bang for my buck was the Desayuno Tipico, which includes Scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions, an arepa, slice of cheese, and carne mechada, also to take it over the top, coffee is included! All that for $6.50. That's relatively cheap. Let's just say I've been taking friends, family and neighbors here, they all love it! They got some great empanadas, and arepas of course. Check them out! Cachapa! Not only does the word itself just make me happy (just say it out loud, you'll smile too), it's a pretty delicious and generously sized sweet cornmeal patty studded with sweet, fresh corn kernels folded around an ample serving of barely melted, soft, white cheese. One cheese cachapa here at Natarica would have been a filling lunch on it's own, but I also added a beef empanada, which is similarly huge and filled with at least six ounces of tender, moist but not fatty, shredded beef and then fried fresh to order. Topped with the fresh hot sauce (it's the dark green one), this empanada made me loose the capacity to speak coherently, as I just "ooo-ed" and "ahh-ed" over the deliciousness. With the cachapa coming in at $4.99 and the empanada at $2.50, this was also a pretty cheap lunch and a great value for the food quality. I also sampled (well, stole from my neighbors) tastes of the tostones and friend yuca, confirming the fact that anything that comes out of the fryer here is pretty fantastic. The yuca in particular was incredibly tender, sweet, fluffy and fresh. I also tried a sip of the fresh passionfruit juice, which was sweet and unique, if a little watered down. You order at the counter (but don't pay), grab your drink from the well stocked cooler, and take a seat, and wait for you food. You pay after you finish eating. Today we had a single server taking orders, delivering food to tables, refilling glasses, and taking payment. Even though we were a group of almost 20 people that took up over half their restaurant, she did a phenomenal job ensuring we all got our orders, and she kept a smile throughout. I visited Natarica on a Yelp UYE with my only expectation to have a good time with Yelpers, but I also discovered a little gem of a dish in the cachapa. I ordered the cachapa with cheese and beef, and it was so good that I ate the entire thing, even though the portion size is pretty big (comparable to a large quesadilla). The corn tortilla of the cachapa reminded me of cornbread that's been grilled. There is a lot of cheese, but it's very light and not heavy on the stomach at all. The beef is shredded, flavorful and juicy (without being messy). Kristin B. shared sauces that can be added to the cachapa - one is spicy and one is not. If you're not a fan of spice, pass on the spicy one because it's a doozy. But I enjoyed the cachapa without the sauces because it tasted so good. I watched everyone else's plates and the food looked delicious and fresh. I would love to visit again and try some other dishes. Even though there was a huge crowd of us, service was great. I was surprised and impressed at how well they handled us and how fast the food came out. And there were other customers as well, so it wasn't just the Yelpers they had to contend with. We perused the menu, and I knew from reading previous reviews that we had to get a cachapa. Seeing Vi's arrive helped with that decision. So I finally stepped up to the counter to order: 1 ham and cheese cachapa ($5.49) combo #2 - chicken (leg and thigh) with 3 sides - fries (crinkle cut), plantains, black beans ($5.99) a cheese tequeno for the toddler ($1.49) After taking my order, the server informed me that we'd pay at the end. So I walked over to the cooler and grabbed an Inca Kola, a Colombiana, and a bottle of water. Apparently, there are also juices you can order, but I missed that part of the menu. The cachapas came out first. Our ham and guayanes cheese cachapa was SO good. The flavors and textures of the grilled sweet corn cake, the salty soft cheese, and the processed ham blended so well. This will be what brings me back here in the future! The combo took a bit longer. The tequeno came out in the meantime, and it was nothing special. The toddler touched it, realized that it was too warm, and then wouldn't touch it again. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't something that I'd spend $1.50 on the future. The combo was worth the wait. While the chicken looked simple, it was so flavorful and tender. The black beans, though served a little too cold, were a runny, but again, such good flavor, particularly when you dipped the french fries in. The crinkle cut fries had just enough salt and texture to compliment the chicken and beans. The plantains were spot on - sweet and firm. I thought the service was good, especially since they are not accustomed to such large groups. The server who was coordinating everything even took the time to walk around the table and make sure that everyone either had all of their order or confirmed what they needed. What the heck? Why haven't I reviewed this place? I love Natarica Grill and owe my Venezuelan friend, Kyle, a ginormous thank-you for introducing me to it. I've been going to this restaurant for the past 3-4 years and have tried a ton of stuff, all of which have been delicious. This place is legit and the prices entice you (or me?) to order too much food. I've had the pabellón and reina pepiada arepas--which are both delicious--though I typically prefer the former. I'm all about the cachapa with Guayanés cheese and the tequeños, with the minis being good appetizers. I love Venezuelan empanadas because of the wonderful corn dough that yields the perfect crispy exterior when deep-fried. The ones they serve here are awesome, with my favorite fillings being beef and chicken. I've had the pabellón plate as well, which is reminiscent of the Cuban ropa vieja--you get tender shredded beef with rice and black beans and sweet plantain. It seriously feels like a wholesome meal and my belly ends up quite joyful. AT and I came here for breakfast and enjoyed the desayuno típico. For $6, we got hooked up with scrambled eggs, an arepa, Venezuelan cheese, shredded beef, and a small coffee. Skip the fast food joints and come here on a Saturday morning (not Sunday, since they're closed), if you're not too hungover. Fresh juices here are tasty too. This place was hard to find. It's tucked inside a giant shopping center on Buford Hwy. Just trust Google Maps, she will take you there. The sign was deceptive though. It looked like it said, "Natanca" because of the weird font they used. Natarica has a lot of stuff on their menu from grilled chicken to arepas. Natarica seems to be known for their Arepas. They have two kinds, the normal Arepa and the sweet corn kind (AKA cachapa). I tried both. For the normal arepa, I got the chicken salad arepa. For the Cachapa, I got the beef and cheese cachapa. The chicken salad arepa was a lot of food. I thought these would be tiny arepas. They actually stuff the heck out of the arepa. The filling tasted decent. The corn was decent. It was fine. I had no complaints. It wasn't the most delicious thing in the world I ate. The Cachapa was sweet. It reminded me of McDonald's McGriddles. The shredded beef was juicy. The cheese was spectacular. It looked like the finest mozzarella di bufala. I did like the soft texture of the cheese. It tasted good. Their sides were your standard, Latin American sides like Yucca and plantains. They taste like any other Yucca and plantains you can get elsewhere. I liked how they had South American sodas like Inca Cola. If you like exotic sodas, there a few you can try. I tried the Inca Cola. It had a nice, bubblegum-y taste. The ladies that worked there were sweet. I liked the family like atmosphere it had. We had a great time at Natarica with a rather large group of fellow food explorers. It's a quaint little spot with a pretty stellar Venezuelan menu. Arepas, cachapas, plantains, yucca, and some of the best roasted chicken you can find. There is something about the way that Venezuelans, Peruvians, and other South American countries roast chicken. They turn it into pure magic. We had a great sampling of arepas and cachapas. My favorite was the jamon y queso cachapa by far. The exterior is made of such sweet corn that it feels like you're eating solid creamed corn. It's simply wonderful. Big plus for carrying Inca Cola! One of my favorites. It's like liquid Bazooka Bubble Gum. The service was great, too. They worked really hard to prepare all of the food that was ordered pretty much all at once. For those who are Venezuelan (and not, but like this cuisine and other Latino delights) this small place is a great one to have all those little eats that makes us happy! Cachitos de Jamon are FANTASTIC, just the same (and even better) as the ones you find in any panaderia in Venezuela. Cachapas (made of sweet corn) are great and the queso blanco used is really good and tasty (reminds me of a nice Guayanes cheese). Coffee is still not there, nothing beats a good, steamy "marroncito de panaderia" in Caracas, and yes, it'll always be hard to find good coffee in the US outside Seattle or NYC. Reina Pepiada arepas are a subject of diverse opinions, I like them here and eat them every time I go, along a tequenon (which could be better, but they serve well the purpose anyways.) Yes, I've had better Reinas, but this one is fine. Staff is really nice, and they are always willing to bring you extra "guasacaca" (our Venezuelan delicious version on Guacamole, sorry Mexican peeps, but is better LOL!) for your meal. The drive is long if you live in say, Midtown, as I do. But it is worth it. I always feel happy and full when I visit Nata Rica. There were lots of regulars taking their time and enjoying some Venezuelan comfort food and a good cup of coffee. All of the arepas we had today were delicious. I've eaten here about three times. The restaurant itself is not nice. It is a run-down little whole in the wall, with mismatching chairs, and a TV blasting out dubbed-in-Spanish TV. Last time I went, and yes, that will be the last time I ever go there, we ordered 3 cachapas, but they were out of cachapas. Ordered arepas with Venezuelan cheese, but they were out of Venezuelan cheese, so they gave us Mexican cheese that you can get from the Mexican market next door. What's the point of going to a Venezuelan restaurant if they don't have authentic food? The only positive experience was on my second visit when I ordered a Venezuelan breakfast, and they actually had all the right ingredients. This has all the trappings of a great hole in the wall. The interior is sparse, the TV is loud and the staff is laughing and having fun. Venezuelan food was a staple for me while living in Dallas, so I had high expectations. Natarica did not disappoint. The cachapa was stand out. The corn flavor was fresh and sweet and the cheese just right. Next time I'll get it with chicken, but no disappointment. The arepas were good, not great. But it was late in the day and I'm not sure how fresh they were. The black beans on the other hand were excellent. I asked for hot sauce and expected a default bottle of Tabasco. As a Venezuelan I can vouch for this place. Very friendly staff. I placed a large order of arepas, empanadas and tequenos for my birthday party and the owners were extremely accomodating and I even placed the order through Facebook Chat! They even opened on a day they are closed just so I could pick up my order. The empanadas and arepas are great, the tequenos were alright (but I have very high standards on those). I stumbled upon this spot randomly one afternoon. My mother works down street and I was trying to grab her something that was not fast food. I'm a vegetarian/vegan and I wanted something to snack on. Small establishment in plaza. The food is ready made. The staff speaks broken English (at least the day I went). I ordered plantains, a chicken plate with rice and beans. I also grabbed a patty which ended up being a meat patty instead of veggie . All in all not bad. My family is Venezuelan, but I haven't been back to Venezuela in over ten years. So imagine how thrilled I was to find Venezuelan food!!! I ordered the cachapas, but I didn't realize how huge they were! I ordered two and had to take one home.I hate to say it, but the cachapas were better than the ones my mom makes. Shhh. Don't tell her I said that. I didn't even get to try the arepas, but they looked amazing. Everything was cooked to order, so it was super fresh and tasty. Best of all, it's authentic.
