I was so disappointed in Napoli's in Midvale. The service was just adequate. There is no wine at an Italian restaurant, the salad came with a creamy dressing, and when I asked for a balsamic vinaigrette I was brought a pitcher of vinegar, no oil. The salad was lackluster with chopped lettuce and a few croutons scattered on top. My bowl was removed before I finished without asking along with my silverware. As for the main courses my partner had sausage and peppers. The sausage was cut i to small pieces and hand no flavor. Peppers were negligible and the overall flavor was tomato juice. No spices at all. The side of pasta was over cooked, mushy and unpleasant to look at. My dish was a veal Floritine that was overcooked and the sauce was gummy and tasteless. I had to hunt for the few pieces of spinach and the garlic was not present. The pasta side was a gooey mess of over cooked pasta topped with the same awful sauce as the veal. I am particular about my Italian food as it is part of my heritage and I lived there for three years. This restaurant should be ashamed to advertise themselves as Italian. read more

The only reason it's not five is there is no liquor on premise (yet). No wine for us Italians is a bit tough but the food was great. Delicious rolls and oil/vinegar dip. Big Mediterranean salad and calamari dish and our main was chicken parm (stayed basic on my first trip here and it didn't disappoint). Chicken was tender enough to cut w a fork and the sauce tasted homemade . my lady got the lobster ravioli which was great. The sauce was just thick enough without drowning the ravioli and the lobster flavor stood out. Quick service and our waitress was very personable. She assured us because it's new they don't have their liquor license yet but it's coming. So if that isn't a deal breaker then go Check it out. Food is decent in an area that has a want of good Italian food. While some may disagree, I am of the group that enjoys red wine with my Italian food. When I went, Napoli's didn't serve wine, and doesn't allow you to bring your own bottle. It's fine, but I probably won't return for the reduced experience. read more

Wow, this place was killer!! Our waiter was extremely nice and gave us amazing recommendations. The stuffed mushrooms were absolutely amazing! They give you garlic rolls for the table so using the rolls to soak up the vodka sauce the mushroom sat on was awesome (idea from our waiter). The parmigiana (chicken parm) was pretty good too! Not the most moist chicken, but still really good! And the crème brûlée was a 6/10. It was decent! But there wasn't a lot of flavor in the cream. Heck, maybe that's how crème brûlée is supposed to taste The environment as a whole was amazing though. Oh my goodness! This place was soooooo delicious! I took no pictures because...well, we just ate it all up. Appetizers: mushrooms, calamari and caprese...honestly before the salads came out We ordered the Frutti de Mare, manicotti, stuffed shells, tortellini and a little Italy to share...and none disappointed us. Desserts: we ordered all desserts made in house; tiramisu, crème brûlée, and Italian cream cake. What a nice finish to our meal. Nino was our server and he was great. The food was to DIE for! Very delicious however it took up until we weee done eating to get our rolls. The ambiance was very romantic and elegant, I'd say this is more of a fancy dress code. The service was alright. They are a newer place that recently opened, our waiter was a bit rude with us and corrected our pronunciation of the dishes we ordered or asked about. Came to Napoli's for my wife's birthday. We had a party of 6 and everyone loved their dishes. We started with the amazing stuffed mushrooms. After we finished the mushrooms, the remaining brandy cream sauce was quickly enjoyed by dipping the complimentary insanely good rolls. The rolls also come with oil, vinegar and spices. Also included was a side salad which was fresh and crisp with homemade dressings. I had the shrimp diablo, my wife had the bravissimo. Both were delicious and not super heavy feeling. My sister in law had the carbonara and it may have been the most liked dish of the night. Finished with carrot cake that was moist and decadent. The only thing that can make this place better is a glass of wine once they are able to get a liquor license. The ambience is very nice. Chic and classy decor and comfortable seating. Upscale feeling but not something that you feel that you have to be overly dressed up for. Service was top notch. Started with dinner rolls and olive oil and balsamic dip that was delicious. Appetizers were meatballs that were tender. Stuffed mushrooms had the best vodka sauce. Fresh Italian salad was nice. I had the pasta combo which had meat lasagna, penne and manicotti: all cooked perfectly and served Hot. Hard to find manicotti in most restaurants. Lots of sauce and cheese with plenty of leftovers. The first couple of times we went to Napoli we loved it, but the last two times we were totally disappointed. The rolls (that were to die for) were not the same and the waitress assured us that they were. They were not. The service was not good. We had really hyped the place to friends and took them there and were so embarrassed. The man we took didn't get his entre until most of us were half way through the meal. My pasta dish was not hot so they took it back and brought me another (it was the same one) and it still wasn't hot. We expected more with it being such a nice location. Management seemed very stressed and almost rude to some of their staff, which to us is a no no! Your staff aid in making you and could also break you, show them kindness and respect. I understand that they just opened but some of these issues are critical. I finally got a chance to try Napoli's Midvale a few weeks ago and it did not disappoint! Let me preface this review by saying as an Italian growing up in the northeast, I rarely eat Italian food in UT unless I cook it myself. I find most Italian restaurants here to either be incredibly generic and in-authentic or outrageously expensive, with some of the latter even disappointing. Now about Napoli's: The fresh bread was wonderful, especially with the seasoned balsamic and olive oil. The stuffed mushrooms were delicious and I would highly recommend getting anything with the brandy cream sauce. My very favorite Italian dish is Linguine Allē Vongole (White Clam Sauce) which I don't cook myself, and I have never found a good one in the 24 years I've lived in UT.... Until now: on point would be an understatement. it was SO damn good My companion also loved their meal and I apologize for not being able to remember what they had. We went for a late lunch yesterday Saturday May 25th, honestly this is the place for Italian, we have been other two times and now, I can't tell which is my favorite plate, everything is wonderful and tasty. Yesterday we have Calamari as appetizer, and I had Shrimp Scampi and my husband had Sausage and Pepper Parmigiana, both plates were very tasty and really well done. As always we got salads with our main plates and bread with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. For dessert we ordered Creme Brulle and Italian Cream Cake. We wanted to go some place new to us for dinner and decided to give Napoli's a try. Based on the majority of good reviews, I was expecting a great dinner. The space is beautiful and I love that the chandeliers look like clusters of grapes. Unfortunately, not all that glitters is gold. Our food was very lackluster and was in desperate need of flavor. Our waitress was very scatterbrained. She asked my fiance if he'd like another Coke and acknowledged his response that he'd love a refill. When she finally returned to our table 15 minutes later, it was to see if we needed boxes. No refill appeared. Then on the way to get our check, she asked if wanted another Coke, oblivious of the previous interaction. I noticed the table next to us, who had a different waiter, was not impressed with the service they were receiving either. The food came quickly, especially the crab studded mushrooms, and they were delicious; a favorite food of my wife. The complementary dinner salad was just the right size. The dinner rolls were fresh from the oven, and perfectly baked. My manicotti was too hot to eat for several minutes. The Chicken Parmesan my wife had was too much for her by double. But I liked sharing it with her. So, is this restaurant better than Sole Mio? Great question. Well, this restaurant has higher ceilings than SM, so that might make it feel less intimate, but it has better groups tables and comfortable high back leather seating round tables for 4 or 6 people. SM has higher prices AND smaller proportions. The service is at least equivalent. This restaurant is more than attentive. Based on only one meal here, and several at SM over the years at different times of the day and different seasons of the year . . . I think the taste of the food is about the same, or maybe a slight edge sometimes to SM, but not by much--less than half a star's worth. Those are my thoughts after one meal. For perspective, we've been married more than 42 years, and before them our first date was to an Italian restaurant in Canada.
