Pretty sad looking gym (though it did have a fridge with waters and mini lavender towelettes)

The pros: - Conveniently located downtown near lots of restaurants and along the river, making for beautiful views. - Your room comes with a $20 credit for breakfast / pastries at Sweet Little Pies next door (which they can also deliver). - The rooms include a fridge and keurig coffeemaker. The cons: - The hotel very much has an old motel feel and is in desperate need of an upgrade (including the bathrooms). The carpets look like they're from the 80s and the rooms are a little stuffy. - The amenities are not great. See photo of the small, stuffy "fitness center." - Given its downtown location, it got loud at night which made it hard to sleep since we could hear everyone late at night at the bars. Over all, would not recommend staying here.

Hubby and I spent the night at Napa River Inn on a weekday in May. Located at the Historic Napa Mill, the hotel and buildings were really charming from the outside. Our room, E212, was on the 2nd floor of the Embaradero Building and overlooked the parking lot. The building smelled old and musty, combined with a very strong floral scent likely added to cover previous aforementioned smells. Our room itself was fine; it didn't smell bad, had a propane fireplace, had a decent bed, and the small, outdated shower was alright. Front desk staff was cordial. We didn't have any other interaction with other staff or housekeeping. We were, however, rudely awakened around 6 am by garbage trucks in their parking lot and we made sure to let the front desk know about it on our way out. While we liked the location of Napa River Inn, I would not make a repeat visit. There wasn't anything particularly nice or comfortable and our stay was mediocre.

Let me start by saying what a great location this hotel has , everything is close by and there's a lot of great places to eat within walking distance. Check in was very easy and the employees are all super friendly and nice . We even got a free box of pastries in the morning with our stay. The hotel was very quiet and gave off a nice relaxing peaceful vibe . The room itself was comfortable and the balcony was nice . The decor itself wasn't my style but I get that they are going for a certain look to go with the area you stay in. The bed was very nice and the bathroom was as well . Would definitely stay here again when coming back because of its location and the great experience we had here .

We booked a last minute stay to celebrate my husband's birthday. So glad we chose Napa River Inn! Nice room, with a lovely garden terrace, and a view of the river. The room included a refrigerator and a coffee maker. We were given a $20.00 credit towards breakfast at Sweeties. We enjoyed a delicious egg croissant sandwich. The hotel is located on Main Street which is close to many shops, restaurants, and wine tastings rooms.

What an amazing place to stay! My girlfriend and I were celebrating our 40th birthdays with a trip to Napa. This was a surprise trip from my husband and he chose The Napa River Inn for us to stay at. I am so incredibly happy he did. Once I knew what the surprise was, he connected me with Heather from concierge who was so nice and quick with her responses to my emails and inquiries about the area. She recommended several amazing restaurants and wineries that we did end up going to. Her recommendations were all spot on. Check in was a breeze - and bonus - it was Heather that checked us in! We arrived on a Friday about an hour before 4 pm and luckily enough - our room was ready. Our room was perfect. The beds were comfy, the shower had great pressure and everything was clean. There was even a bottle of wine and chocolates from Heather in celebration of our birthdays. She was seriously the best! In fact, every staff member there was great. Housekeeping was always on top of our room and also had special little touches that normal housekeeping services don't provide. The Inn also has a couple of restaurants on the property, a bakery (which also delivers your pastries every morning to your door), a sweets shop and a general store. During our time there, there was also a wine tasting being conducted in the lobby which my girlfriend and I really enjoyed as well. The location just can't be beat. River views, closeness to the Napa Train, restaurants and shops. Absolutely perfect. When I go back to Napa, I will for sure be booking my room here again.

Not all rooms have the claw foot tub I saw in reviews.

I have stayed here twice, once with my husband in January and again with my step Daugher in May. On my 2nd trip they had a card in my room as well as a bottle of red wine to thank me for using them again. The trip in January we were there January 2nd and most of Napa was closed and doing renovations so I highly suggest not going to Napa that first week or 2 of the new year. May the weather was still a bit chilly but everything was open so we got to enjoy the location and all the hotel has to offer. The rooms both times were clean and nice and the location is fabulous. They have breakfast that they get from a little shop that is part of the same building as the hotel and will deliver pastries to your room, or give you $10 per person towards breakfast there at Sweetie Pies. They have great coffee in the room, gorgeous views from both of our stays, friendly and fast help with luggage taken to room and one day I went in and asked the man and lady behind the counter if there was anything going on locally and they gave us FREE tickets to the Blue Note for a concert that was absolutely amazing. Between the views, the friendliness of staff, and location I cant think of a better place to stay in Napa.

We stayed for three nights in the Historic Deluxe Room (the Hatt room to be exact) and had a wonderful visit. The room was beautifully decorated with excellent small extra touches that enhanced our stay. Real cream for the coffee in the mini fridge, my loose charging cords bound up by housekeeping in a branded cordkeeper, cleaning wipes left on top of my laptop, just little additional things that made the experience that much nicer. The breakfast pastries were delicious and convenient and the staff was friendly and helpful. It's an old building, so the insulation didn't seem powerful in terms of sound or temperature, but on a quiet, early spring weekend, with the heater and the fireplace, it was a lovely place to stay in downtown Napa.

Was here for a client program and the entire staff, front desk and the bell team were exceptional. Special shout out to bell team members Per, Thomas and Victor as well as Heather and Sara. Thanks for all you did to welcome our guests!

Our first trip to Napa and booked with the river Inn as I was traveling with my dog and saw that they were rated very highly as dog friendly. The location was absolutely perfect for parking the car and not having to get back in until we left! Check in was easy and they even sent up a VIP package for my pup! Located downtown there is so many options in walking distance for food drinks and shopping. I think the price was pretty high though for the middle of the week. We had the double standard with no view. Stayed Mon-Thurs and paid over 1600. There was also no microwave in room.

The entrance looks like resort we visited in San Diego

This place was so nice I can't wait to go back in Sept. I have a little fur baby that travels with us and they were so kind to her. Their resturant had some really good breakfast. Not toast & juice but food that can be rated a 10, and I'm a very picky eater.

Cute bed and breakfast located on the Napa riverfront, steps from all the spectacular restaurants Downtown. The hotel itself has a lot of history behind it, and is a member of Historic Hotels Worldwide, which promotes heritage and cultural travel sites around the world. All their rooms have historical charm and character spread between 3 diverse buildings. We've stayed in the Historic Deluxe and Embarcadero Standard. Both rooms had comfortable beds. You can spend a little extra for the Deluxe if you want a fireplace and bathtub. There is daily wine tasting in the evenings by the lobby. Parking is included in the lot across from the main building. The best part is the daily breakfast delivered each morning from Sweetie Pie's! Make sure to hang your breakfast selection on the door by midnight. We've stayed here a few times, and each time, the service has been exceptional. We'll be back soon!

We did have a few pretty serious negatives to our experience tho . The day we pulled in, tired from a long road trip, it was pouring rain and we could not even find the front door. We walked all around the plaza containing their other businesses- coffee shop/restaurant etc and nearly gave up after walking all the way around the entire building. Once we found the front door , which is located on the Main Street the valet service ( which is required unless you want to park 3 blocks away ! ) was not very welcoming. We had lots of luggage and in the pouring rain we struggled to get our bags onto the cart, they did not help us at all. The guest services man Jorge was great and friendly and even upgraded us to a nicer room for our troubles. Once in the room we tried to hook up our Amazon fire stick to watch t.v. But the tv was flush against the wall and we could not reach the HDMI port. We called downstairs and they said they would send someone up to help. Half an hour went by and no one came so I called downstairs again , at which time i was told "our t.v.'s do not accommodate that' . That is a total lie , any tv with an HDMI port can be used with a fire stick, we guessed they were just too lazy/ busy to come up. The tv was very large , but was not even a smart tv . What the heck ???? Even a basic motel has a smart tv. We went down to the lobby bar to have some drinks and a snack . The hostess in the restaurant said we could sit anywhere in the lobby and someone would help us. We waiting for 20 minutes and no one even acknowledged us so we left . Other people had food and drinks so I don't know what that was about ..... We decided to just eat dinner on the rooftop and be done with this experience. The hostess was very uninspiring about her job and seated us. The dinner service was decent , it was pouring rain and we got a bit drizzled on between the louvres of the rooftop awning but overall dinner was ok. Due to the "snobby feel" of most of the staff and the lack of t.v. Options i would probably not stay here again. It's a shame because it was a nice location.

My story below. We stayed at the Archer Hotel Napa mid December 2025. When departing the property, I left my Stetson cowboy hat in the room ($1K+). Realizing this the next day, I contacted the Archer Hotel who informed me that nothing was reported yet (with a promise for a follow up notice). After 3 weeks of silence, I reached out again and was told that staff had not found the hat in the room. I must point out that the hat was packed in a special-purpose large box; given the size, special packing, value, and nature of the item, it is inconceivable that it would have been discarded as trash. Evidently, it was stolen. I then escalated this issue to management who mostly ignored my requests (I can share various emails for those who care). I did learn that there is security footage but access or review of it was denied (and one would wonder why that was not done in December following my first call?). This makes it evident that management (GM Michael Pace and Director of Operations Patricia Wilson) prefer to turn a blind eye and as such indirectly approves of staff holding on to left-behind items of value. Again: this is theft. I am now left with filing a report with the Napa Police Department.

Lobby is tiny and we were greeted while they were busy with other visitors. Gave us a three level upgrade with outdoor tub but too many leaves and pollen to use. Called for housekeeping and nobody arrived. Have to call to get slippers and tooth brushes and only bought one set even though they confirmed for two. Lounge sets were not covered prior to our arrival which I would expect as part of housekeeping. Hence can't use lounge chairs and patio furniture without cleaning. Spiders on outside furnitures and inside cottage had one dangle down its web right in front of me while sitting on the sofa. Bathtub inside is broken and can't use to take a bath and looks like it's been broken for a while. I liked the folding patio door setup as allows a nice view of the roses in the yard and a nice breeze but a lot of bugs. Could be helpful if there's lavender plants in the backyard. Nice fire place in backyard that can run really hot and keep bugs off you and a nice place to relax in the morning. Shower had nice heated floors but tub not working detracted from the experience. Service is great and everyone was ultra friendly but hard product is missing the spot.

We were greeted warmly upon checkin and thanks to Hilton diamond, we were upgraded to a nicer cottage. The person checking us in enthusiastically described the bryte balance beds in these upgrades rooms that allow personalized settings. However when we got to the room, we couldn't find the instructions to adjust the bed. Long story short, there was a lot of back and forth and conflicting communication from different staff members. For some reason our upgraded room did not have the updated beds- still not clear to me why since the website advertises these upgraded beds in our room type. In any case, the staff was nice to offer a consolation bottle of wine, which unfortunately we did not drink as we were celebrating our baby moon. The property itself is beautiful and two pool areas that includes a separate heater pool and a hot tub. It was quite empty when we were there. The common area near the restaurant had a lot of fire pits for enjoying. The room was nice , very spacious with heated floors and an expansive private patio with outdoor tub and outdoor shower along with outdoor fireplace. Requesting service was hit or miss. We tried texting as instructed which took ~30 min to respond. When trying to call, at times, phone would ring without anyone picking up. We requested additional water and matches for outdoor fireplace several times, but neither of these ever arrived so we gave up. As Hilton Diamond members, breakfast was included. However it didn't seem like a special benefit since it seems like breakfast is included for many who book direct. For a pricey luxury resort, I thought breakfast was a bit lacking - with only 1 hot option (quiche). The rest were fruit, cheese and charcuterie and bread/bagel. A la Carte items could be ordered for a fee and anything more than black coffee (eg cappuccino) would be extra. This is better than the $15/p credit at other Hilton properties but given that this is a SLH and a high end luxury resort, I guess I expected breakfast to be a bit more substantial. Given that this was a free night award, I wasn't too disappointed, but if I stayed here with the cash rate, I think my rating would drop to 3-3.5.

She had never been there, and I wanted to surprise her, so she had no idea where we're going. It turned out to be one of the best decisions that I have made since my children have left the nest. The hotel upon entering is very inviting. The staff is incredibly friendly. And the ambience is unbelievable what you would expect of a five-star hotel in LA yet with the charm of a small-town feel. So let me begin with our inception. Upon walking in, we were greeted and given water and asked if we would like to upgrade our room. The room upgrade offered a patio with a propane fireplace and chairs for only $50 extra a night, we gladly said yes. Every evening, we were given a voucher for drinks, 2 drinks per person, alcoholic that is. Each morning, we had free breakfast. You had a choice of an egg McMuffin-style sandwich, a chorizo burrito, or an egg potato and cheese burrito. The egg cheese and potato burrito is the way to go. It is so big I could have cut it into three parts and eaten it for lunch breakfast and dinner. They have a small store inside of the restaurant which you purchase what you want, and you scan it yourself, that was kind of nice. There was a pool and jacuzzi, and we went in the jacuzzi the very first night since there was no one there yet, but as it got closer to Thanksgiving more families came in. I will have to say this is the first time that we haven't had children with us, because both of our children are out of the nest in college. So, this is the first Thanksgiving dinner we had NOT at home. But I must admit, it was fantastic-yet bittersweet We had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes and gravy and we had ube pie. For those of you that don't know what ube pie is, it's a Filipino purple sweet potato. When I saw that on the menu, even though I'm not Filipino, I knew I had to have a pie at least. We got the whole meal, it was fantastic the turkey was succulent mashed potatoes and gravy were awesome I don't like stuffing, but my wife ate my stuffing, and we had asparagus as well if I remember correctly. I had spoken to the front-end manager, I believe, or the beverage manager and she is Pinay, so this is why, I assume, they had the ube pie instead of pumpkin pie, but it was amazing. Even if it's not Thanksgiving, ask if they have ube pie. It's very convenient because it is right next to the freeway so you can travel up north and take ancillary streets to go up to where all the wineries are at. We didn't take a winery tour, because we're not viticulturists, but if you are, it's a fantastic place to go.

I will say first, from what I saw of the hotel, it is nicely appointed and has great staff. I would consider coming back just to stay. Our lunch was also pretty nice. The service was rather slow, especially since we were one of two occupied tables for most of the time we were there (mid-week), but the food was very good and fresh/healthy feeling. Now, on to the spa. I chose the 80 min peptide lifting facial for $395. First of all, $395 is a price you might pay for a full service spa. This is not that. There is a tiny locker room with a closet sized sauna in it that could fit one or two people. There is one shower and a sink to clean up in. No other facilities. Second of all, the facial was nothing special to cost that much. I have better facials at home at my local salon, and usually pay less than $100. At the end of the facial the esthetician, who had just spent the last 75 mins cleaning all the gunk off my face and out of my pores, then proceeded to put a nasty tinted moisturizer all over my face! I asked her about it at the time, told her that I do not wear makeup of any kind, and even told her I was concerned about it getting on the collar of my light grey sweater. She just slathered it on. Told me if I didn't like it I could use a tissue to wipe it off! When I went to get dressed after my service I looked in the mirror and saw that I did in fact look like a tangerine. Thankfully I had some cleaning wipes in my bag, and was able to get it all off. So I basically wiped off $395 of facial in two minutes with a cheap drug store towelette. Great. So, basically, stay at the hotel or maybe trying out the restaurant, but avoid the spa!

FRAUD ALERT…read more Boyfriend & I came here on January 31st. We got massages which we paid the gratuity for that very day since we were charged right away. As of yesterday 2/27 I've been charged $86 by "The Inn on First" which I noticed immediately as either a mistake or fraud. I called them & front desk receptionist seemed very confused & even apologetic because of the fact I was there one month ago & not yesterday! I told her I would like to be refunded & she of course had to get the owner involved, understandably. The owner, Celia, calls me & already had a defensive rude tone to her voice which was confusing because of the situation. She claims that I had not been charged for the gratuity from the massages & that they had just now caught it & were charging me now. I told her that I know for a fact we had already paid for the gratuity based on the amount charged to my card which was the total cost of the massages including the gratuity. She argued stating my numbers were not accurate & that they again will be keeping my $86. I told her this is fraud & she knows it. & I will be putting a review on Yelp regarding this. She then changed up & said if I have an issue with the gratuity charge that I'll have to take it up with the massage employees as if they were a separate entity- which they may be but again, my credit card statement shows that it's "The Inn On First" that is charging me this $86 I responded to Celia by reminding her that this is HER BUSINESS & that she should be the one to resolve this! She responded by basically stating it's not her problem. Absolute fraud! We got champagne at check in along with fantastic cookies. The room was well appointed with a fireplace and private hot tub in room. The shower too was spacious, clean, and powerful. Overall the place checked all the boxes and then some. The breakfast was over and above our expectations. Fresh fruit and a delicious homemade muffin to start. Cold juices and hot coffee. Yogurt and granola. All before the menu comes out with a custom made hot breakfast. My wife got avocado toast and I got an omelette. Both came with house made potatoes and mine had an option for a variety of toasts to choose from. All delicious and a great way to start the day. Really grateful to have found this place and already thinking about when we could go back.
