Really nice space and they have a nice store filled with wine country and antique trinkets. I ordered the California Benedict (Benedict with fresh avocado) and my friends ordered the paleo scramble and chilaquiles. All the dishes were very flavorful and tasty! We also ordered the chocolate beignets which were also very good. I did remove a star because service was a bit slow and at one point, the waitress got our orders mixed up. My friend also had to keep reminding them that our drinks had not arrived. Price point for the dishes and the meal was ok, pricey but not so much where I think it was outrageous. This is one of those places where you check the photos online and go in skeptical, but leave pleasantly surprised. THE VIBE So you walk in, and it looks like you're in one of those little country antique shops. I've actually been to a place like this once before; part store, part cafe. THE FOOD I cannot speak for the drinks. I was way too hungover to even desire anything. They do have a Yelp check in deal for a free mimosa that does not apply to the weekend brunch (though our server offered it, if we were interested). I ordered the Napa Scramble. It's an egg, spinach, bacon, and goat cheese scramble, served with your choice of toast and potatoes. It's a good portion for one. My girlfriends and I enjoyed BOTH breakfast and a wine tasting at this spot. Make sure you visit the Napa Valley Welcome Center first as they were able to give us a 2 for 1 wine tasting card to enjoy. How does one describe this place. Cute and quaint. We arrived before they were officially doing wine tasting and settled on having breakfast outside with the backdrop being the Napa River Inn. I ordered the Simple Breakfast and everything was so delicious and tasty. From the potatoes to the chicken apple sausage to the homemade jam, there were no regrets. My other friend ordered the Chicken and Waffles which I tasted, the chicken was well seasoned and not dry. Sooo yummy. Another girlfriend ordered the smoked salmon flatbread which was also a hit! After breakfast, we made our way to the bar area for our tasting. Luckily, we went during off season but be prepared to wait as the bar area is small and has limited seating for tasting. Mark, the general manager, was very kind and helpful in giving us advice to which "must see" vineyards to do.. Artesa Vineyard for stunning reviews and Hess Collection for the artwork. We ended up doing both and they did not disappoint. Lastly, you can also do some shopping here. They sell not only wines but everything from shirts to candles and soap. We were staying at the Inn next door and decided to have breakfast here our last day. We sat out on the patio as we had a dog with us. Service was very slow and other tables that were sat after us ended up getting drinks before we did. We actually got up and asked for our waters a second time. This is the first restaurant I've ever been to that had a dog menu which was absolutely adorable! We had bloody marys that were pretty spicy. Tasted like a lot of horse radish. Absolutely delicious food, and we loved the Yelp check-in perk of a free mimosa at brunch! The service was friendly and efficient, and the patio dining area was dotted with large umbrellas that gave some protection from the excessive heat and sun that day. Smoke from the awful Glass Fire was in evidence outside that day, but given the option of indoor/outdoor dining in this era of Covid, we chose the latter. I would have loved to give this restaurant the four stars it really deserves based on the above, but can't for just one reason. Since Covid has us nervous about indoor dining, we felt that chancing it that day to avoid the smoke would be too risky. There seemed to be too many diners and the tables were placed too close for our comfort under the circumstances. I don't have picture proof of this and it may just be my own paranoia after months of my restaurant experience being takeout-only. but that was my impression from walking through on our way out to the patio and back when leaving. Still, it's reassuring that the hostess asked for our contact info when we got there for the purposes of contact tracing. I think the restaurant is doing a good job of ensuring safety and cleanliness for its customers and staff. We will definitely visit again on our next jaunt through Napa. With both an interior dining room, which it shares with the gift shop and wine bar, and a vast outdoor patio that stretches out to the open courtyard area that eventually leads visitors a view of the lovely Napa River, Napa General Store is the perfect place for an outdoor meal on a warm sunny day. And that is just what a party of seven ordered for the day for lunch on a recent weekday trip to visit wine country. Looking for a last minute place to eat lunch for a big party was daunting, but thanks to my Yelp app, finding a place that would take a big party for lunch for reservations and outdoor dining, Napa General Store is one of the first places to appear when searching. Reservations were super easy to make on the Yelp app, but be forewarned, they do take your credit card in case there is a last minute cancellation. Finding parking was super easy as Napa General Store resides in a center that was once a miller of some sort as a huge water tower greets you atop a building that now contains a hotel, bakery, ice cream shop and other restaurants, so there was plenty of parking in their lot in front. Our party of seven sat beyond the traditional courtyard they have at Napa General Store as we sat behind the topiaries and sculptures along the Riverwalk area. It was nice as the staff opened a few of their large umbrellas for shade and we heard the rush of a lovely fountain that made up this large courtyard for visitors to enjoy. In addition to the outdoor seating, the main reason we selected Napa General Store to enjoy a lovely lunch at was because of the compactness of their lunch menu, which is broken into four sections, Appetizer, Salads, Sandwiches and Pizzas & Flat-Bread. I decided to order their Grilled California Chicken Sandwich which featured grilled Mary's Chicken served on a soft cornmeal roll locally sourced from Costeaux Bakery with pepper jack cheese, Zoe's Applewood bacon, tomato and Basil Aioli. Others in my party ordered their Rueben Sandwich, which featured Zoe's pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing served on rye bread; their General's Cheeseburger made with certified Angus beef served with cheddar cheese, tomato, onion, lettuce served on a sesame roll; their Famous Chinese Chicken Salad served with marinated Mary's chicken, cabbage, scallions, toasted almonds, black sesame seeds, crisp wontons and topped with house made Asian dressing; their Vermicelli Noodle Salad Bowl which was layers of lettuce, rice noodles, shredded carrots, cucumbers, mint, roasted peanuts with the vegetarian option of sautéed tofu, bamboo shoots, red onion and veggie roll; and their Margherita Pizza which topped with fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomato sauce and is made from scratch daily and fired in their Mugnaini brick oven. Our food came out in due time, which only felt longer as our party started baking in that warm Napa sun, but our server was nice enough to not only fill our water glasses but made sure the dog that one member of our party brought was well-nourished with a bowl of water and additional treats. Once our food did come out we considered the star dishes of our meals, their cheeseburger, Rueben and pizza, as my chicken sandwich had a decent amount of flavor and fresh ingredients if somewhat unremarkable due to the sandwich being dry due to the fact that I think it was overcooked. My dining mates' salads too felt a little too flavorless, which greatly disappointed them. All in all it was a decent if somewhat underwhelming meal at Napa General Store as the service was solid but the food, which we were excited to dig into, was a bit of a disappointment for some of us, but for others it was serviceable, especially when individual entrees are not super affordable as you are no doubt paying for the inviting ambience, in addition to the cuisine. What is not debatable is that the Napa General Store features unique wine-centric country décor and wine tastings, along with a decent breakfast, brunch and lunch menu served in a glorious setting where the modernization of the Napa River and downtown landscape takes precedence. It is a place where tourists and locals can enjoy themselves in each other's presence and for this fact alone is worth a consideration. read more

Great breakfast spot. My husband and I stopped here for breakfast on our last day in Napa. The store itself has a lot of cute home decor and some pet toys. I had the corn pancake platter. The 2 pancakes were nice and fluffy and I couldn't finish them it was a lot. The egg were well prepare and the potatoes were well seasoned. MY husband had the huevos rancheros. It was a interesting interpretation of the dish. It was stacked instead of placed separately on the plate. He did say it was spicy and well seasoned but he would have preferred less beans. At one point he only got a big scoop of beans. Maybe a sauce on the side would have helped. I also had a tea which made me very happy because it was a dome bag tea not a cheap tea bag. My husband got a Coffee and he said it was fresh and tasty. I did like that overall surroundings along the water. There was a much of restaurants near by. What a little gem off Main St in Napa! It's in the same building as the Napa River Inn and the entrance is on the river side. The cafe is set to the back of the store with seating both inside and out on the back patio. Came for brunch and everything was fantastic!! Hubs had the Napa scramble and I had the Vintners breakfast. Eggs were perfectly cooked, soft and still creamy. Their breakfast potatoes were really good, roasted and boldly seasoned. The star for me was the French toast. Normally not a big French toast person, but theirs was made with brioche and it was light and didn't feel heavy.
