I pride myself on my nose for bargains and yet I have completely neglected the HomeGoods chain…read more This is my first visit to a HomeGoods store, and after surveying the stock, I must admit I am deeply ashamed of myself. I've been missing out! The store is nicely organized into sections. Although for some of the sections items were rather jumbled, and there was a bit of a rummage needed HomeGoods differs from other discounted stores with their extensive stock of familiar and somewhat higher end brands. Just to pick out something randomly I noticed they had Dr. Bronner's soaps and some Dr. Teals products. Unlike other discounted chains, I've heard of and used both their products in the past and I was pleased with both. They also had brands which I own, the globals and the aroma. The discounts were quite reasonable. But I am a pretty hardened shopper. I have a nearly impenetrable defense which generates a force field which the store must break down possibly using a photon torpedo. Here are some of the factors which must be overcomed 1) Duplication: happens more often than not. 2) practical. 3) I don't have much space. 4) a genuine discount. Not those frou -frou 20% off fake sales. Stay away from stores that raise the original price for sales. Macys I'm looking at you. 5) Must equal or exceeds the quality and performance of what I already have. 6) Must be in one of my areas of interest. That would be cooking, books or for some mysterious reason my sock addiction. 7) All resistance can be eliminated if the item is beautiful. HomeGoods came really, really close to punching through the protective force field, melting my brain and turning me into a complete zombie who would willingly shuffle to the register, precious cargo loaded in my arms, and burning a hole in my credit cards. There is absolutely no doubt if I keep returning to the store, I will be zombified. Now that is what I call a great store!

Everyone working here was super friendly and helpful. They left me along but when I had a question they were more than happy to help. Personally I like this approach but if you're into the whole "being offered help by someone different every 30 seconds" thing you will probably think they are all rude. But they're not - just approach someone and ask for help :) I will say... this place is very... boring? sterile? minimalist? basic? looking. Some nurseries really try to make it beautiful and fun looking at they didn't do that here. That's not bad... the plants are what matter, but it's just more fun to browse and shop when things are arranged beautifully and creatively. With a sale like this, prices plummet so precipitously that I end up buying oddball items like mason jars just because I want the lid for my much bigger and more useful mason jar at home. I thought I knew the store pretty well, but I was wrong. There were all sorts of little sections that I had overlooked in my previous visits. I found a little set of bins, loaded with useful supplies for some of my favorite but more obscure hobbies. I was really really impressed by the coffee table that was priced at $.85. That is correct cents. This was so unbelievable that I checked the price tags three times. Unfortunately, it didn't fit my car, it doesn't match any of my decor and it doesn't fit my spaces. Oh well There are some sections, such as the stationary area that are so reliably overstocked that I don't even bother to visit office supply stores or check out Amazon before I shop here. In fact when I wanted to measure an item, I wished I had bought a tape measure. But then it occurred to me that the overstocked stationary area would probably have lots of rulers. Problem solved. For once, I arrived early enough that I could donate. I've been diligently collecting my donations and missing the donation times for almost a year. It pays to sign up for the mailing list because they will unexpectedly shut down donations because they no longer have any storage. This has happened to me multiple times until I wised up and got the emails. I rummaged over enough stuff, lost track of time, and finally snapped out of it when my stomach told me to go home. In spite of the attractive sale,, it was not overcrowded. It was still comfortable and gave you plenty of space to look at items and try to figure out what some of the more obscure objects were. I didn't actually end up buying very much. But clearly the fun was in the treasure hunt.

IMHO This little…read moregift shop featuring pretty hats, scarves, shoes, leather purses, jewelry, pet gifts, etc. is the only retail shop (at the moment) on the second floor of the V Marketplace in Yountville. The pandemic has taken its toll on the retail shops, but A Little Romance has survived. Whenever we come to Yountville, we stop in and without fail, the owner/shopkeeper welcomes each guest with "Everything in the shop is 25% off!" I am happy to say I found a lovely pair of faceted blue teardrop earrings this trip! The friendly shopkeeper offered me a free "Napa Valley" keychain which I happily accepted. Will I return? Of course!
