We enjoyed the location and service, but the food was just ok. Came in on a Thursday before noon. Hubby ordered eggs over medium, bacon and pancakes. His breakfast was served a couple minutes before mine. Looked good, and I could smell his pancakes, so I was encouraged they would be amazing. The were good, basic. Pancakes are a preference food. I prefer mine on the dense side, more like a cake than airy & fluffy. I also like the pancake itself to have the sweetness, not dependent upon syrup absorption for flavor. Nano's pancakes tasted like a mix, light & airy, but not flavorful. The over easy eggs were perfectly cooked and the bacon strips looked yummy. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette and was disappointed. The "cheese" was 2 American single, processed squares. The ham seemed to be along the lines of a Danola processed ham. The omelette wasn't completely cooked, so runny in the center. My fries were thick cut, which I like, so I'll say those were yummy. I also got a biscuit, instead of toast. But, unfortunately, I'm not sure what kind of biscuit it was. No flavor and very crumbly. I didn't detect any buttermilk so, again, not sure if it was just flour, milk, baking soda, oil. Spent the night here in the Arcadia/Monrovia area for the first time and of course we have to look for a new breakfast place. And so I started my yelp search. I started scrolling and found Nano cafe.. so glad we decided on this quaint little cafe. Their specialty menu features a variety of Korean dishes.. so of course we wanted to try the kimchi fried rice with sunny side up eggs.. it looked so good that I forgot to get a pic before downing it... delicious and flavorful.. after that, we ended breakfast with sourdough French toast.. we will definitely be back !! We have been loyal patrons at Nano Cafe, it's homey, yummy, welcoming, and just a wonderful place to get a hearty brunch on a Saturday. They can be very busy, with seating indoors and on the patio all taken, but they do their best to seat everyone quickly. I also noticed that they have a lot of takeout orders or ubereats people lining up at the door too, so ask the person in front of you if they're in line for dine-in, but fyi the wait list system is like an honor system (there's not really a waitlist - everyone just kind of makes a mental note of where they are on the virtual waitlist). We like their corn beef hash a lot - it's literally the only thing my husband gets everytime we visit. I've tried different things on their menu: french toast, all of the benedicts, breakfast combo, omelets - and tbh they are all very very good. The portions are not intimidating but definitely filling. They have a special menu going on for July 4th, maybe give it a try. read more

I took my wife, granddaughter and her boyfriend after we church services were over. The staff was graciously friendly and greeted us with a smile. While we were being seated the owner (Jihnny) gave us menus. I told her it was our first time here and she ask "How did you know about this restaurant?" I said "I looked on Yelp and this was on the list of diners" she welcomed us and while looking over the menu a plate with cinnamon roll was put on our table andnour waitress says "From the owner, welcome and enjoy our fresh made food" it was delicious . About 4mins after talking our order food arrived. While we started eating every one including me, commented how delicious and fresh our food was and continued eating. Not many words were being said because the food was that great. The ambiance and decor fit the diner. People all around us were either locals and were having great conversations. It was our first visit. The restaurant look like a cozy home. Everyone is smiling a happy. Service was quick, and the food came out at the perfect temperature. The perfect spot to pop in for a Sunday brunch! It Does get crowded and the wait times are long, but they are definitely one of the best spot for a mom and pop diner vibe spots. I ordered a classic blueberry combo set which came with eggs and bacon. The pancakes with light and fluffy and loaded with blueberries. Eggs and bacon were a simple classic. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak which came with eggs and hash browns and biscuits with sausage gravy. The meat with surprisingly tender with a light crisp. I love that they offer salsa, which I didn't expect. Our waitress dropped off the food, and asked if we wanted some, which was really nice and refreshing with the eggs and bacon! Nano on Duarte Rd in Monrovia (There are two Nano Cafes, one's in Sierra Madre, with different owner) is a fixture in this community. The menu is extensive and always difficult to make decisions! They did streamline it during covid but the favorites are all still there. Always came for breakfast but they have a good lunch menu as well. Staff are friendly and helpful, and even enthusiastic, which is nice! Many regular customers come, which is a plus. Nano Cafe serves breakfast and lunch. We came on a weekday morning and it was not busy. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere we like. The service was friendly and prompt. Bonus that it is kid friendly! There are high chairs and a changing station in the bathroom. The booth was perfect for putting an infant car seat and I think the patio seating would be great for strollers. French Toast Combo: my mom enjoyed her dish, it came with fluffy powdered French toasts (syrup and butter), 2x bacon, 2x sausage, 2 eggs. Eggs plus 2x Bacon 2x Sausage: my dad enjoyed his dish. He chose hash browns and biscuit as his sides. Eggs Benedict: standard eggs benedict with thin slices of ham. The English muffins were soggy and hollandaise sauce was okay. It came with crispy hash brown and a side of homemade salsa. Coffee: the coffee tasted okay, it was hot but tasted watered down. I appreciate the waitress constantly coming by to pour coffee. Tea: variety of tea bags and hot water. The dining area is pretty spacious and plenty of seatings inside in the main area and in the bar area in the back. There are also outdoor seatings. Earlier this week I wrote a review on a restaurant that I really did not want to write because it was majorly negative. One: I'm more about amplifying the signal of good businesses versus bringing any drama or notoriety to them. Two: I hate that people only become keyboard warriors and writers when they have something bad to say. Thankfully, this place is a gem and has always been. I have been coming to this locations for years and I don't deviate too much from what I usually get but every time I have eaten there, I've thoroughly enjoyed my food and the service. Today, I went and I was indecisive as ever, even from my small variety of choices that I opt to always get. Due to that, they got my order wrong but by that, they gave me one of the million things I thought I wanted and changed my mind on while I was ordering. The staff were super apologetic and kind but it was no big deal because it was from one omelette choice to another. Either way, they still gave me a cinnamon roll on the house, which was beyond appreciated but unnecessary. This place is a vast difference from the other place I reviewed and I think it's because they embrace everyone that comes through their doors and you can feel it. It's also bright and cheery. We decided to order my wife order the big country breakfast come with sausage and eggs and country potatoes and biscuits and gravy and also she order a side of strawberry pancakes. I order the prime beef machaca comes with eggs and country potatoes and also your choice of tortillas flour or corn,I also order a side 7 grain pancake.Pancake. The atmosphere of restaurant is amazing friendly and you get to know workers of the restaurant well. The waitess brought the food to the table and the food looks really. I took a bite of the prime beef machaca first the meat was really tender with good flavors in beef mix with green peppers and onions combine with the eggs add so much flavor in the machaca. The country potatoes were very good season well and bottom was crunchy that I like and tortillas comes in handle. When I finish with prime beef machaca then the 7 grain pancake they were very good I enjoy it very much. My wife enjoy her big country breakfast she share it with her dad in the strawberry pancakes that they enjoy. Overall the food was amazing including the service we will come back again. read more

AVOID AT ALL COST! BEWARE! They don't pick up any phone calls nor do they communicate your orders to you beforehand or after. I have been coming to Nano Cafe since I was in high school and it is so disappointing to see how far they've fallen. I placed an order to go at 10:30am and what was suppose to be a 30 minute wait for my food turned into an hour and a half wait where I finally got my "breakfast" at 12 pm (noon). By the time I got my OVERPRICED ($45 pancake and omelette) food I wasn't even hungry anymore and my food was no longer breakfast but lunch. To the person who screwed up my order and to the host who lied to my face telling me it was going to be ready in 5-10 minutes. I cannot even begin to translate those frustrations to words. A server did approach me to help me understand the situation and I understand that accidents happen. What I am very upset about is how they had lied to me about it being an additional 5-10 minutes when I had given them 40 minutes since my order to come pick up my order. Not only did I stand around waiting another 40 minutes the person who messed up my and 3-4 other people's order didn't want to apologize and instead had someone else apologize for them. I wish they had just been honest from the beginning and told me they lost my order and it will be another 30-40 minutes. If they had told me I would've cancelled my order and went down the street to eat elsewhere and come back another day. HIGHLY MISMANAGED. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE PERSON. I WOULD 1000% STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. While I was standing waiting for my food, I saw the host cross out peoples names without calling them out which led to many frustrated customers who confronted him later on. I have a love-hate relationship with Nano Cafe - I love that they serve a decent Corned Beef Hash & Eggs dish but I hate how crowded their small parking lot can get and how pricey some of these dishes are. Overall a neighborhood gem. Our favorite is the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs and the Breakfast Burrito. Been here three times only, considering we live so close. I am reminded why--this place is very average, at best, but it seems to attract the locals and so presumably, a loyal following. Kudos to them! Good, accessible location. Our server was very attentive and chatty. The servings are pretty hefty, but the eggs Benedict quality has gone downhill. I think they use canned sauce.
