My friend ordered the Shoyu Ramen and gave it a 7/10, nothing crazy good but definitely worth eating. Sadly, my favorite place at the Ala Moana food court, the curry house, which does an amazing Japanese curry, considering it's "fast food", closed after some 30 years. I started with three wonton. They were decent sized, they were done very well, they were tender, and they were delicious. The beef sukiyaki Ramen was also very good. The service is pretty quick when not busy and you'll get a pager. When your order is ready, the pager will buzz you to pick up your order. They pack your order as if it's "to go." I've eaten here a few times but and really enjoyed the ramen. This time I wanted to try the Udon and ordered the Tempura Udon and the 3-piece shrimp shumai. There wasn't a line so my order was done pretty fast. Because it's located in the food court area, there was a lot of noise and foot traffic but overall pretty mellow for dinner time. Let's start with the Udon. As always, everything was piping hot which I love. The serving size for me was perfect and in fact a little too much. The chew of the udon noodle was perfect. Not too chewy and not too soft. The broth was amazing. Very light and seasoned well. The tempura veggies were good but because it sits in the broth, it did get soggy but it was okay. We came across this ramen place in the Ala Moana food court and was pleasantly surprise by their ramen variety. They're quick, helpful and served delicious food. We chose the Charsu and Miso ramen. My Charsu ramen had lots of meat which is rare its usually skimpy. Hubby enjoyed his Miso ramen flavor which also had Charsu, fish cake, green onion and bamboo. When I used to work in Ala Moana I could rely on this place for ramen that I would rate five stars. Maybe as time has gone on I realized I was just hangry during work, so anything would taste amazing. If you're in the mall, don't wanna leave, and want some simple ramen then I would come here. But if you're willing to make a short drive you'll find much more high quality ramen places. If you compare this place to it's neighbor, Barrio, it's like fast-food versus restaurant, and there's nothing wrong with that! If you eat ramen as much as I do, maybe you know the feeling of what I mean as far as flavors. The biggest differences I've noticed: noodles and price. Naniwa serves saimin noodles while barrio serves ramen so do with that information what you will. This place is also a few dollars cheaper so that could be a deciding factor for you!
