    grab and go

This place is located at the Makai Market Food Court. It's convenient as they have all their sushis premade, so you can just grab and go. Their sushi is ok. I'd rank them mid range with the likes of Ninja Sushi. Actually, the type of ahi I got here was the exact type that Ninja gave me. It wasn't of a high grade. Pass on the nigiri. The Crunchy Shrimp Tempura Roll was much better. The shrimp was firm and the tempura flakes and fried onions gave it a crunch. I liked the mix of the spicy drizzle along with the unagi drizzle.

Quick and easy lunch for my toddler = 2 thumbs up for me!! Did a quick stroll through of the food court and was a bit bummed that we couldn't find any sushi options. Thankfully, Moana Sushi was located off to the far corner in a kiosk and must have been overlooked during my initial walk-through. Meals are essentially pre-made and packaged for prompt service but there was a sign stating "ROLL IT YOUR WAY" as an option. Everything looked pretty fresh and things were presented neatly. 3.5 stars. For sushi that's been premade, I felt like the costs were higher than it really needed to be but I am thankful MS was here to satisfy my child's cravings.

Sushi at reasonable prices! My parents brought some sushi takeout from here which included Cali rolls and mixture of cone sushi and maki rolls. Sushi is pretty good!

OK sushi.... Especially in the evening. Not quite fresh anymore so sometimes they have bogo before closing. The seasoning, flavor and the rice were OK. I think nijiya might have better stuff. Don't think I'll return...

Moana Sushi is located in the Ala Moana Food Court across Mr. Cow. The easiest place to get good quality sushi in the mall. They are grab and go with a pretty decent variety of rolls. The staff is normally pretty friendly, it's self serve so most times you won't need any help but in the event that you do they are there to assist!

You will order everything off of a tablet at your table. They have many options including classic delicious Japanese plates like karaage, firefly squid, and other "otsumami" type items. The lunch specials are a good way to get nigiri at a reasonable price. We got the tuna special and the premium plate. It comes with miso soup and chawanmushi which were both delicious. The fish on each nigiri were super fresh and cut very thick. The sake selection was also very nice and we were able to enjoy a couple bottles :). You will spend money here, but it's 100% worth it. The service was very attentive and friendly as well.

My fiance won a gift card actually 2 of them (from his coworker whom could not get a reservation secured), we knew we had to make the trip over before they officially close. We had multiple dishes, but staff made Kauai prawns and tomato miso black cod dishes on the house since they ran out the Hokkaido scallops. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

I know you guys drive by it and see it but have you dined in? If not, this is your sign. My friends and I walked in around 8pm and got seated right away. Waiter gave us GREAT recommendations as it was our first time. Let's talk about the food. My top 3 dishes of the night -- 1) Uni charwanmushi - to DIE for. So much flavor, so much protein. 2) the beef skewers - incredibly tender. We ended up ordering another order bc it was so good. 3) sushi- Negitoro, torotaku, spider roll and spicy tuna... the rice and fish texture was just so perfect. The fish tasted fresh and the rice to fish ratio was a 10/10. Ambiance: chill, friendly, not too loud and everyone was so respectful. I'm craving it as I type this. So yeah, check it out. Loved the food, love the company... what a great place!

I also don't understand how Yelp lists this place as a "good for kids". It's not. There wasn't a kids' menu and the dishes were not kid-palate friendly (other than maybe the basic California style hand roll). For example, the fried tofu had shredded ginger on top that permeated the dish and the karaage had a very mild (but present!) note of spice that reminded me a bit of buffalo sauce. Our waiter didn't even give us a heads up or point us in the direction of any dishes to consider for the kids (surely we must not be the only family who has brought kids to this restaurant). Lastly, I understand that the tempura brownie is popular but after tasting the "tempura" on the tofu I'm sure the brownie is just the star that shines through. The "tempura" on the tofu was gummy and not the authentic Japanese tempura we are used to (my husband, who is part Japanese, said to me "What is this?! Cornstarch?"). This is probably a great restaurant for drinks and hanging out with some adult friends but the rolls and appetizers were just not to our tastes. We were also sat outside when the restaurant was near empty inside and out (we went around 4PM) and it was a hot day (though the AC wasn't particularly cool enough for my preference inside either).

Every piece of sushi was beautifully presented not overwhelming. You can really tell the chefs put a lot of thought into the balance of flavors and textures. One of my favorite bites was a sashimi piece topped with something that looked like finely grated cheese (not sure what it actually was), but it melted perfectly with the fish and added a really unique savory flavor. The chefs and staff also had a good sense of humor. At one point they served kinki fish and jokingly explained that the English translation sometimes gets called "idiot fish," which got everyone laughing at the counter. The omakase is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, presentation, and overall experience made it very satisfying. Although they have a clean and comfortable space for dining in, we regularly stop by after church or on the weekends for something to savor at our favorite park. Seriously, it's easy to enjoy their bowls, sushi sets, or bentos anytime and anyplace. We've got a passion for this place. Here's how this love affair started...I discovered Domo when a friend invited me for some sushi and sips at her place. I was amazed at the beautiful platter of sushi that accompanied our sake and wine. My friends are the best hosts! I devoured the bombs, nigiris and rolls (in between sips!). Everything was simply delicious! Fast forward a few months, I order a couple sushi sets to host a poolside, golden-hour birthday get together at my other friend's home. (I know, you want to be part of this squad, right?!). Anyway, using the online order system is a snap! My hubby went in to pick up the sushi and said they were slammed but our sushi sets were ready to go. This time we ordered some ikura because the hubby and my bestie are big fans. Both agree it was fresh and fantastic! And the garlic set with the flash-seared fish and a hint of mayo is a MUST-try. We also ordered a California roll for my friend's aunt who is not really a sushi fan. She delighted in several pieces and even enjoyed the nigiri from the garlic set. Total convert! After enjoying the platters and sets, we had to try the bentos and bowls. This time it's just us and the pup at the park. The bentos provide a great variety and comes with miso soup. The hubby really likes the shrimp tempura with ahi and salmon nigiri and ahi poke. It's a steal at less than $20. I'm a bowl girl myself and like the spicy tempura. The tempura is cooked crisp yet tender. The spicy ahi poke combined with the creamy crab salad and the crunchy ocean salad delights all my tastes buds. It's truly an adventure in finding the perfect bite--and there are so many in this bowl! I also love the seared salmon bowl. It is melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I add the fried onions for some texture. You know a place is top-notch when you can feel confident that anything off their menu will satisfy your cravings. Because this is a Yelp review, here are some helpful tips. For sushi platters, pre-order. The online system is simple to use. Service is fast and efficient if you're just walking in for a quick bite or to grab something to go. Parking has always been easy for us to find in the small lot in the complex where Domo is located. It's right next to Assagio's Kahala. But if you're worried about parking, I suggest ordering in advance and then just picking up. This works great during peak dining hours. If you want fresh, delicious sushi that is reasonably priced be like us and visit Domo Café. You will probably also be like us and want to go back to try more.
