I was told this chain was very good, but it was mid. They do have a large selection, but once they run out, they are out for the day. My issue is the rice to filling ratio is completely off. It's way too much rice, and the rice was a little dry.

This is the best spot for musubi! As a vegan, I enjoy the ume musubi, which is usually fully stocked, so I can just grab and go. My husband likes to order a custom musubi with avocado, which they are always happy to make. Even the custom orders are super fast, so it's wonderful if you're in a rush! Most people I see there grab 5-10 in a bag for work or family -- or just planning ahead for their next craving! :) I have gone to four or five locations now (all delicious!), but this one is my favorite. Why? 1) Kahala Mall is a great spot to grab a quick bite or to sit down and hang out. 2) The shop is super cute with a great location near Starbucks and Jamba Juice. 3) Many of the other locations get a little crowded with lines, but this one placed their cash register in a good location, so there's room to spread out. 4) The staff is the nicest here! :) Thanks, Musubi Cafe Iyasume! We'll be back soon.

Grab your musubi's from Musubi Cafe Iyasume. It's perfect for a quick bite, picnic, field trip, and really just to eat at anytime. They also have poke bowl. My favorite is their spicy tuna mayo, spam with cheese musubi, and peppered spam musubi. My only ask is if they can add a little more tuna on the spicy tuna mayo. The ratio is off, there's too much rice but not enough tuna. The staff is always friendly. The young guy is my favorite staff. He had the brightest smile. The cafe is small but is packed with musubi, bento plate and merchandise for souvenirs. It's located next to Jamba Juice in Kahala mall. There's lots of parking too. It's easier to get into than the one they have in Ala Moana. I can make musubi but the convenience of buying it is sometimes easier specially if you're in rush. Thank you for reading my review. Have an A L O H A Friday!

Located at Kahala Mall. Park near Whole Foods and right in the food court area. Masubis always hit the spot. I always go for the spam, tuna mayo,, and shrimp tempura and the beef bowl. They have a section where you can pick from the already made but don't worry if you can't find it just order at the counter and you'll get a freshly prepared one. I actually prefer it this way as it's prepared as you order.

Love stopping by any of their locations for a quick snack! I always get the spicy mayo tuna variations of their onigiri, and their musubi with avocado are surprisingly good! Great choice for something to snack on in-between adventures - Miguel Morales Photography

Place cute as their Musubi... Located near the Kahala Mall grand fountain is this cute and cozy store. Musubi Cafe Iyasume is found all the across the island and is just known for their bento and musubi with or without Spam and is all basically made to order. These ladies in the back work their magic to make an incredible amount of choices you're given and I do love my Spam plum with the traditional Spam musubi with a seedless Ume right under the spam giving the salty/sour combo bridging the Hawaiian local and traditional Japanese into this simple yet flavorful merge into this handheld treat. They do have some musubi that's pre-made though majority are made to order but they do work very fast with rice cooked to perfection and seasoned just right is a favorite here with the constant flow of folks knowing exactly what they want as this portable yummy is the fast food version of our favorite savory snack has a great system to make it here in Kahala. Thank you!

Came here around 0845am, there weren't a lot of choices ready yet but the lady was so nice to make it for us even though we ordered one of each. We got Salmon Roe&Salmon, Eel Musubi, Tuna Mayo, Salmon Mayo, Black Peppered SPAM, and a Shrimp Bento Box. Everything was so good and made fresh and ALOHA! I will definitely come back here for my musubi fix! This store is located inside the Kahala Mall which is not hard to find and there's lots parking!

Easy parking outside, you'll see Whole Foods and right when you enter the mall it'll be on your right side. 7 Days OPEN from 8:00am-6:00pm per their website but others seems to have issues on their hours of ops Ambience is pretty busy with all the different types of food to select from! Tons of SPAM combos and Riceball selections that DO NOT always have meat in them. I only wish they filled up the musubi's with a little more protein. Overall, such an easy place to grab and go where you're headed too. It makes sense why they have 6 different locations

No avocado

Got an avo shrimp roll, clearly labeled but no avo. $3.98 waste for this small roll. Also go their Tuna musubi and it tastes spoiled! Idk if they add vinegar to the mayo or what but that tasted sour and rancid, I couldnt finish. I bought all these at around 1230pm. I just wanted something simple I was like oh good some musubi for lunch. Also their spam is like cardboard Everytime too ugh! All their bentos look unappetizing too and the noodles look so oily..not quality at this location..the alamoana lanai food court is better quality and I think they actually make effort in that. This kahala location is pretty much consistently bad everytime I pick up some things from here which is not often but often enough times to conclude I should stop getting from here...overpriced too for the quantity. Learned my lesson.

Cecilia T.

If you love spam musubi & onigiri like myself, you won't be disappointed. This place has tons of it- all different types of spam musubi, rice ball, even sushi roll as well as poke bowl, bento box and udon noodle. They also have merchandise for sale- musubi stickers, magnets, aprons, shirts, lunchbags, etc. It's cheap too- you can't go wrong with $2.50+tax for a spam&egg musubi. The egg (tamago) is sweeter & spam is less salty here. Love it! Filling and makes a great snack or meal any time of the day. I wish they had locations on the East Coast, I'd be getting it everyday! A must-visit for musubi when in Hawaii :)

Other Musubi merchandise!
Laurie Y.

So glad they have a location at Kahala Mall! I go at least once a week to get lunch! It's a popular place as there is always a long line! I see most people buying the Musubis! They make it fresh so you can order if they're not already available! I go and check out the bentos to see what's available, usually so many choices! Check out my pictures! My favorite is the Butterfish, rice, corn noodles, nishime! Then i go and stand in line! Remember to use your reward stamp card for every $5 you spend!

Wrapping hard to take off
Craig T.

Well I'm not sure if it's only me but they need to make it easier to take off the plastic wrapping off the musubi. Also their musubi is quite small lol maybe 2 bites it's gone . Support local

I don't know who needs to hear this but In-N-Out is just not that good lol. W&M does it super simple yet so good. I got a cheeseburger with mayo and my bf got the HAL special. Both were 10/10. Fries were also golden brown and super crispy--didn't even need sauce or ketchup. We also picked up a couple guava cheesecakes and pumpkin crunch, which didn't disappoint. We came on a Saturday and there were a few people in front of us, but the food came out super fast. We also witnessed the new mural being painted across their wall, which is a work of art in itself. Sorry, didn't get too many good photos because I ate before my camera did (and didn't even get a picture of my dessert).

Just wondering...was there a change in ownership? Not sure if I'll be craving for their burger and fries for a while. So sad...

I used to come to this one all the time back in the 1980s. I only had fond memories. When we walked in, it had the same old musty smell like the Niu Valley Jack In The Box. Soda area was pretty dirty with lots of spilled soda all over and no employees bother to wipe it down. The Jumbo Jack was SO SMALL!! Barely anything in it!! They also didn't have ketchup!! How odd is that to not have ketchup? Some customer lost his temper and started yelling at the workers and eventually got into it with the manager. He claimed he was waiting for an hour for his food, which I highly doubt, but it was quite entertaining hearing him scream his head off at the manager. "I don't want my food now because you guys will probably spit in it!" He kept saying that over and over. It was pretty funny. Anyway, the place was just as smelly and dirty as the Niu Valley location, and the Jumbo Jack wasn't very "jumbo"! Hahaha!! I doubt we will return to any Jack In The Box establishments because so far 2 out of 2 were lousy!! I don't see much of a future for Jack In The Box. Sorry.

I saw the name and it was an easy lunch decision! So they are located on the corner of 12th and Harding. There's street parking or u can use the parking lot nearby. I chose to park illegally not in a metered stall because I was ordering my order to go. You walk in... order at the counter and they hand you a cute little beeper thing. I waited outside because their inside seating area is kinda small. It was also busy so their outside tables were pretty full. Luckily our order didn't take too long. I go the double OG and added bacon to it. I felt like a fat girl (I am) but I've never been sooooo happy and excited to eat. Chubbies has been one of my favorite burger places on the entire island. I thought after their food truck closed, they were gone forever. Now that I know they have a permanent location.... I'll be here more often for lunch. When I say relocated, they really didn't move far from their original spot, being a short (less than) 5minute walk away. There's also a large parking lot next to the new location, instead of the old drive in and metered lots, this one has like a parking ticket to use to access the lot. I feel like compared to the OG location, the new location's inside seating is significantly smaller, with around 5-6 tables and 2-3 of them being very small ones meant for just one-two people. They do have seating outside which, when totaled up, likely matches the amount of seating their OG location provided as well. Also very similarly to the OG chubbies, the water, sauce and napkins are self service. It feels very much like a fast casual spot. I got the OP style double and fries to share. It was very good, and I enjoyed both. I would come back again but in my opinion there are also a lot of other better/ more affordable spots out there.

I went through the drive-through and the first thing they asked is if I would be using the app to order. That's weird. Why would I use the app to order in the drive-through? I came drive-through to talk to a human being. I asked for a caramel sundae and one for my husband too. The worker tells me my total and I pull forward and pay. I go to the second window. The worker there hands me two paper cups with just ice cream in them. I said, "I'm sorry but I asked for caramel sundaes." The worker said, "This is a plain sundae." What the heck is a plain sundae? A sundae, by definition, is ice cream with a topping on it, usually fudge or chocolate, sometimes strawberry or caramel. A sundae has toppings. I learned that at McDonald's, "plain sundae" is something you can order and it's just a cup of soft serve. In any case, I didn't order a plain sundae, I ordered a caramel sundae. The worker yelled something back to the first person who I had ordered from, then topped the ice creams with some caramel and handed them back to me. At least the price is the same for a "plain sundae" and caramel or chocolate versions, so I didn't have to pay the difference. Also, I gotta say, McDonald's really is practicing shrinkflation, as the last time I got a caramel sundae when it used to be in the plastic cups, it sure seemed like a lot more ice cream and a lot more caramel. This little paper cup of ice cream isn't really worth the price.

I was always down for a juicy succulent piece of fried chicken however it was fed to me. It wasn't the healthiest way to eat chicken, but things fried just tasted better, correct!? Founded in 1996 on the campus of LSU by Todd Graves and named after a friend's Labrador Retriever (Raising Cane), his arduous dream that began in college has since grown into one of the fastest grown restaurant brands in the U.S. Would I raise a thumb's up instead of a middle finger to their tender chicken!? PURCHASE(S) 3pc Chicken Fingers Sandwich ($8.79): This messy two-hander was slipping and sliding all over the place as I tried to keep it together (I failed). Three crispy crunchy thick pieces of chicken between a pillowy soft sweet bun with a smear of Cane sauce and a hint of lettuce, this was a lovely introduction to this brand's food, and I now understood the hype that surrounded it. Aesthetics aside, you could've easily eaten this as fingers and a side of bread, but this large sandwich did the job. My only wish was that it was spicy and came with pickle chips, but it was still ono! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=sod8F8j7AIUDoK3mQptIUw The Box Combo - 4pc Chicken Fingers, Crinkle-Cut Fries, Texas Toast, Coleslaw, Cane Sauce, 22floz Drink ($12.79): Because of my sandwich, I was able to split this meal into two! Loaded with a little bit of everything, the chicken was just as yummy as my sandwich, there were plenty of spud sticks with a light dusting of seasoning, the toast was a revelation all on its own and would easily order a few more as a snack, the coleslaw lacked flavor (I put some on my sandwich instead), the Cane sauce add a touch of zing but wished it was spicy, and the sweet tea was like I was transported to the South it was so damn good and probably loaded with a ton of sugar. A heck of a meal at a deal! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=f5GUo39r6DcCdVAVoN-ArA SERVICE I was greeted by a young woman at the front counter where I immediately placed my order, received my cup to fill with my fountain drink of choice, and within five minutes my name was called as we caught each other's eyes while I waited nearby. Everything was good - mahalo! PARKING (FREE; N/A this instance): Located in the outdoor Hawaii Kai Towne Center, there were plenty of spots although I decided to do the 25-minute one-way walk for exercise - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A standard quick-service restaurant layout with a central order counter, a fountain drink machine off to the side, plenty of dining spots in a spacious room, and minimal decorations with some interesting elements such as these ceiling disco balls https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=Ruk3zzf-dWb0pTPXWIWt6Q (I didn't know if they actually worked). Plenty of natural lighting came in through the front doors and surrounding windows while recessed electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while pop music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I really enjoyed the food at Hawaii Kai's Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers location as my first experience with this brand. High marks for all of the food (however... please add some spice to the chicken seasoning and sauce, and more flavor to the coleslaw), the portions were great, the prices were very reasonable, and the service straightforward. The menu was extremely limited, but the same could be said with In-N-Out. I wished there were some Hawaii-specific menu items. Sure, they were a fast-food chain restaurant, but they started as a local small mom & pop business at one time. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $23.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip).
