OLIVE IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST! If you like deep tissue massage - like REAL deep tissue massage with someone who REALLY knows anatomy AND thai massage - then Olive is YOUR GIRL. I moved back to SoCal and I miss Olive every dang day. I make it a point to schedule my regular 90-minute thai massage with her whenever I visit. Olive, I miss you and your healing hands (and feet, lol)! read more

IDK if it was just my room, but the headrest was SO uncomfortable LOL. Imagine pressing your face into a thin pillow on a hard U-shaped metal bar. It was near impossible to enjoy the massage when the metal was digging into my cheeks and chin the whole time. By the end of it, my face was red and had the U-shape imprint on my cheeks :-( Ouchy I checked in for a 90 minute traditional Thai massage. They had me circle my areas of focus (shoulders, head, and lower back) and preferred pressure level, then walked me to the room. Each room is separated by drapes, and are equipped with a floor mat, pillows, small basket for personal items, and a shirt/pants to change into. My massage therapist was Rayna. I didn't realize that she would ONLY massage my focus areas for 99% of the entire 90 minutes LOL. Most places I've been to usually dedicate 20-30 minutes to focus areas and then continue with a full body massage, but my front side, arms, and legs were barely touched. A little disappointed... But maybe if you REALLY want a targeted massage this is better for you. The massage was mostly with her hands, and very little back-walking, which I prefer. But still very hard to enjoy bc of the face/headrest situation :-( Sometime during the massage, I think a rough callus ripped on her hand and started dragging a sharp piece of skin against my back every time she used her palm on me. It was hella itchy at best, and a sharp pain at its worst. I didn't say anything because we already had a slight language barrier so I wasn't sure if she'd understand... By the end of it, I was totally slathered in tiger balm. Granted, she did wipe most residue off with a hot towel, but the smell lingered. It stuck to my clothes, car, and hair. ALSO, the bathroom is shoes-off... People leave their shoes at the entryway cabinets before entering the hallway, so it's not THAT gross, but I still prefer not to go shoeless into a public restroom... read more

Bodywork therapist Olive P. administered the most thorough and effective massage I've ever experienced: 1 hour Thai massage plus 30 minutes reflexology. I specified strong pressure and Olive wrecked me in the best possible way. 2 days after the massage everything feels so much better, esp my feet. Facilty is very tastefully decorated and clean. read more

Olive did a reflexology on my feet and legs. I had never had it done before and I felt immediate release of pressure and tightness. It is a very serene place. Not a hyped up spa(not my preference for relaxation) and I will consider going back. Although the prices are in line with the average costs in the area, I still found less expensive alternatives and will try these before going back. read more

Came here on a date and would recommend coming back again any day! This is not your regular massage! Be prepared to get twisted, pulled, and stepped on in every relaxing way! I have a ton of knots because of work and exercise, but this definitely got rid of all of those knots. I would come here again even though it's a bit of a drive! read more

Very dissatisfied. Nice place. Nice staff. No funny business. But the masseuse clearly didn't have real training. I paid extra for deep tissue for which she used her elbow, painfully geinding her arm bones over my bones and across my muscles instead of working with the grain to smooth out the knots in my back muscles. I also paid $25 extra for CBD which I've always been able to feel but felt nothing from this up charge. Maybe they use too little. Overall I would give the massage 2 stars. However, the desk staff could tell I wasn't happy and encouraged me to share. They called the owner in an attempt to make it right. I'm a business owner, so of course I was open to this. The owner was at dinner and promised to call me the next day. She never did. I need 3-4 massages per month for computer work back ache. Real loss of an opportunity to win me back. So instead, I'm sharing my honest review and deducting another star for the owner breaking her word. Maybe you'll have a better experience. I won't be going back. ----- Responding to Patty's comment: Patty you say you "planned to call" and "were surprised by my refund request through your assistant" both of which are an obfuscation to make yourself sound better & save face on Yelp. Reality is I reached out at the end of the next day after not hearing from you because I had the impression you genuinely wanted to make things right. Clearly not. I had several back and forth phone calls with your assistant relaying messages from you requesting I do additional work to accommodate you when in fact it should have been the opposite. You had my number and could have texted me immediately but chose not to. So rather than playing your game I let your assistant know I would not be available to take more quasi-apology calls on your behalf and if you truly wanted to make things right you could refund me. Otherwise I felt motivated to leave an honest review because that's what Yelp is for. I would have happily accepted an invitation to another massage that you felt confident met your standards of customer service. Instead you post a mealy mouthed comment on my review and I call BS. You have my number if you genuinely want to make things right. Grow up. read more

I had my first Thai massage with ( She name is May ) yesterday, and she was absolutely incredible. Within 10 minutes, I could feel her skill and intuition as she worked on my sore muscles without even knowing where my pain was. I never told her anything--I just let her work and trusted her instincts, and it was amazing how perfectly she found the spots that needed attention. I was able to fully relax and chill throughout the session. She applied just the right pressure and gave me the perfect balance of relief and relaxation. May is truly incredible at what she does--I left feeling so much better. Highly recommend her!" read more

Nang Sida is really conveniently located by downtown Berkeley so I decided to give it a try. The cafe next door is a great place to wait if you get there too early. My first session I just signed up for anyone and was paired with Olive. She was great! I really appreciated her efforts and requested her for another message, so this review is really about her and encompasses both experiences. My first experience was the three hour therapy + aroma + foot reflexology package. I highly recommend it! I wasn't sure if it was because it was such a long session or not, but Olive focused on my preferred areas (you make notes on a chart before your session) AND gave me a full body tune up! I really feel like she had a good pace and made really good use of our time. I can't believe how the time stretched. I really felt like my whole body was worked over and that my problem areas got special attention and we did so many good stretches. Because my schedule was tighter, my second massage was "only" two hours. Still, Olive paid special attention to my requested areas AND I still felt like a got a full body experience. So I think Olive must be experienced enough to allocate her time well. I personally feel that you should invest properly (time and money) in a a really good massage, so I kind of feel like a short massage might be a waste. But I'd try a one hour massage with her. Olive is really good at finding knots and tense spots and applying strong pressure. For a massage, I am pretty pain tolerant. She still checked in with me several times to make sure I was alright. (Just enough times! Not too much.) Because I prefer my messages to be a bit strenuous, I was definitely sore after. But it's still soooo relaxing. And I can tell that my body feels lighter and freer, just after and days after. I think Olive must have remembered I got cold the first time. My second visit, she checked in with me about the temperature! I really liked that. The room is typically very warm and comfortable, but after the hot stones and the oil my body really cools down. So it was really nice of her to remember and ask. In general, Olive is very courteous and receptive to my feedback. I am pretty quiet and probably not direct enough, but she promptly helped me repeat a stretch and kept working on a specific spot when prompted. With the stretch in particular, I wanted to repeat it and she did a couple of times and for longer. So it was a really good therapy!! I can't wait until I have the time for another session! read more

The best 90 minute thai yoga massage I ever had. I am so happy that I dont have to cross the bridge. Really convenient location, street parking, and decor and music really relaxes you when enter. $110 for 90 minutes and well worth it.. I had paul. Places is very clean. They dress you in the thai shorts and tanktop for females and shorts only for men. I enjoyed the stretches and my bones cracking, releasing all the work stress. I was trying to not fall asleep so I can feel the massage. I will defintly return! read more

Amazing!! I believe it was May who did my massage but it was absolutely incredible! Def check this place out

Finally, a place where they actually do hard pressure (the correct professional way) when you ask for it. I've been searching for a new masseuse for years. Maybe I'm picky I don't know . This review is for Olive . Me and my partner had a couples massage and he wasn't too crazy about his masseuse . We came right before closing but we were on time and his masseuse rushed out didn't stretch him or anything. Olive actually stayed passed closing to finish me up. If you're not sure about your pressure definitely start with medium with Olive . This lady is strong and not messing around ! . She paid attention to everything I said. Can't wait to go back. I think I found my new person! read more

I booked my appointment over the phone and wasn't sure what to expect because I had never gotten a Thai massage before but it was much much needed. My therapist was great in clarifying my problem areas and level of pressure which I liked. The massage itself was good in stretching out parts of the body that would be hard to do alone and the techniques that they use were very effective. read more

Strong massages that really make you feel great afterwards. Clean. Friendly staff. Easy parking. Neighborhood is transitional.

I went last year in Oct Omg it was the best I had Mew she was a pain reliever my first time ever it helped soo much

Wow. I can't say enough about this place and my masseuse, Olive. I came with extremely tight shoulders and neck. I asked for the "office" massage and foot massage. Both were so thorough. She worked unbelievably hard on my rocks for shoulders and steel neck. She often asked if the pressure was ok. I was more worried for her hands given how tight my body was. I am most definitely looser now, as far as my body will allow, and until Fall teaching starts next week. Really, masseuses work unbelievably hard physically, and this is, I think, particularly true in Thai massage, where stretching the clients body is involved. No one should short a tip for these professionals or complain about tipping. I agree our tipping culture has gone way too far in many areas, but not in this one at all. I keep hearing people on different massage sites here and when I was looking in LA complain about tipping. These workers go to school to learn specific techniques and physically work for several hours a day on, likely very tight bodies...otherwise why would they be there? They deserve extra. And Olive deserves triple...lol! read more

Came in for a last minute Thai massage with Opal and it was FABULOUS! I literally have not had a massage done where afterwards I felt lighter and my back was actually fully massaged through. She worked through all the knots and although it hurt, it was totally worth it. I will definitely be coming back!!! read more

If you're full of knots and/or needing a good cry this is the place to go haha. In all seriousness, It's hurts so good. Might bring tears to your eyes but getting the knots out is well worth it. read more

From the get-go, making an appointment online was very easy and fast on their website. As I wanted Reflexology specifically, the masseuse listed as available at the time I originally made did not specialize in that, so the front desk called in and kindly asked if I wanted a different one half an hour later than my original appointment, which I took. Check in was smooth and fast. The staff was very welcoming, professional, and kind. They definitely respect your space and were not overly talkative. The massage area itself was great and spacious, there are about 8-10 rooms on either side of a dimly lit and warm hallway. Area was very clean and we go in barefoot after leaving the front desk room. It was also nice that they provided oversized, comfy shorts to change into! Massage itself was 90 minutes of pure relaxation, as I dozed off after the initial hot towel massage/rub. At the very end, the masseuse worked on not just the feet but also legs and shoulders, stretching them out in various directions, which I sorely needed. Whatever lotion they were using also was hypoallergenic, which is a huge plus because most places I've gone leave me sneezing and extremely sniffly for the entirety of the massage. Would come back here for a full body massage, for sure! Also 10% off to first timers right now! read more

I've only been to this place a few times over the years, but it's mostly because I feel the therapists don't really pay attention to requested treatment areas. Every time I'll circle my knees and/or ankles, and every time, they'll spend the majority on the typical shoulders/neck/back. Most of the time it's okay because the pain is tolerable, but today (and because my usual place was booked), I went in in hopes of some serious relief. The massage was okay. I tried to hint that I had circled some areas that had not yet been worked. I think it takes me longer to spell m-a-s-s-a-g-e than to count the minutes spent on those problem areas. What made it worse was that I gave $100 for an $85 massage, and instead of giving me change, she said "thank you!" Sorry miss. You can't decide what I tip, and when I ask for change, you don't get to question *why.* Eventually, after telling me they didn't have anything, I got some form of change, but the whole exchange was a turn off. I understand that tips are particularly important to those in the service industry, and I'm all for tipping well...but a tip should be earned; not expected. read more

I hope this place does well, as it is an expansion of their Walnut Creek location. It's usually pretty quiet. I went here a couple of weeks ago (be sure to check their website for a first timer discount). Came here on a Friday night, filled out the usual first time client form, took my shoes off, and they let me to the back where the different massage areas are. They provided me with the traditional top and pants, and asked me to take off everything and change into those clothes. I haven't done too much traditional thai massage, so I was surprised when they use an oil or lotion. Just a heads up in case you aren't expecting it too. I would come back. The masseur appropriately checked in with me every once in a while on pressure which I appreciated. read more

My friend and I had been under so much stress from college midterms and projects that we were under physical pain. I had thought about getting a massage but all of them were over $110 and as a broke college student I could not afford that. Nevertheless, I was fortunate enough to come across this place! It offers services with a reasonable price without the quality being reduced. When we got to the massage place we were shook by how nice it was! We paid when we got there, but they didn't accept Apple Pay (good thing that my friend had brought her credit card). The massage in itself was good; a little painful for my taste but maybe because I asked for "medium strength." However, by the end of the session, my friend and I felt utterly relaxed. Overall good experience, but don't forget to take your card or cash to pay! read more

So, my wife and I were supposed to do a couples massage today. We called the number on the listing (510) 647-5228, but somehow they booked us for the Walnut Creek location instead of the Berkeley location. There was no automated menu that said anything like 'press 1 for Berkeley, 2 for WC', nor did the phone receptionist ask if we wanted to go to Berkeley or Walnut Creek. So for now, a neutral 3 stars, until we actually get the massage some day. read more

My Dream is to finally visit Thailand, but I rarely leave CA because of work commitments. I came to Nang Sida and tried Olive. As a former highly trained massage therapist myself trained at Heartwood Institute and Motherwavework Institute, not all spas and massage therapists are created equal. This place has atmosphere good enough for a date. Olive was recommended to me and I'm passing it on. My 2023 kicked off with a series of sessions at Nang Sida, and it's the best investments I made. Health is the most important because it supports all of your other commitments, like family and work. What I did was get a series of sessions w/ Ms. Olive Poompuang. Everybody loves her work. read more

My partner and I went here for the first time today and had a great experience. I called this morning and got an appointment for this afternoon. The massage was great! I came in with a headache from my stiff neck and shoulder muscles and it felt noticeably better when I left. My massage therapist was Gigi and she was great. She really for through my stiff muscles. My partners massage therapist was Jessy and she was also great. They also did a full 60 minutes massage. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

I've had my fair of share of massages in my day and I gotta say... this was definitely one of the best massages I've ever had I called to see if they had any extra couples openings the morning of Valentines Day and I was able to get in a few hours later (oh yea ). Fast forward to the actual Thai massage: The masseuse I had was aaamaazzinng. Right amount of pressure to hurt a bit but still feel so dang good. When she got to my awfully knotted shoulders, she rubbed tiger balm in while working through the knots and it hurt SO GOOD. The massage along with the stretches made me walk outta there feeing like a new person. My partner also had an amazing experience and we talked about the next time we'd come back all the way home! read more

I received an hour and a half massage last night, although I booked a two hour. And I was totally surprised by The lack of professionalism, because I've been to this Place many times. The Massage therapist did not have his mask on his face when I arrived (I could see him through the window on the street) There is a sign on the door that says wait to come in to get your temperature checked but he let me in and checked my temperature inside. I explained to him I booked a two hour massage and he said no it's a one hour and a half massage , I explained this three times. He obviously wanted to give me an hour and a half massage because he ended it at an hour and a half anyway. At the end of the massage, he put someone in a booth right next to me not following Covid protocol. During the checkout, he pressured me into me how much tip I would want to give him, I stated, $20 due to his lack of following instructions. He stated to me, "oh! 20 percent? and then he Proceeded to give himself a $24 tip even though I said $20. This place is not safe, does not follow COVID protocol and I will not be coming back here, Which is too bad because it's very close within walking distance to my The massage itself which was adequate at best. The therapist had long nails And left the booth multiple times to go get hot towels which ended up being really cold. The lights were turned up in the place, which provided zero ambience. The therapist also had a GUCCI face mask on which is not appropriate for a spa setting. read more

This is THE place. And Bill is THE therapist. I'd always considered the wizards at Marina Thai Massage in SF to be the benchmark for excellence. I prefer this place now. They walk on you. It's Thai massage in the Wat Po / Bangkok style. I altered their blueprint a bit and asked Bill if he could skip all the oil-on-the-back stuff and just crush me with his feet for 90 minutes. I'm a Thai massage therapist myself, and I go out and receive one session per week. Bill is REALLY good. He has a slew of techniques I'd been totally unfamiliar with. And he can be very thoughtful and precise with his delivery. He is a genius. The place itself is warm, friendly, and beautifully set up. Like I said, I go in once a week and see Bill every time. read more

This place is amazing!! I called up around 6pm on a Tuesday hoping they could squeeze me in and they were so polite and nice on the phone and were able to fit me in for a one hour Thai massage. The atmosphere in the place is just gorgeous! Such a relaxed, peaceful and cozy set-up and so quiet! My masseuse was Vicki and I have to say she gave me the BEST massage I have ever gotten. I have constant aches and knots in my back and Vicki was religious in kneading them out, standing on my back and legs, stretching out everything! I feel slightly sore but in a really great way with no more knots! The massage was Intense but in an "it hurts so good" kind of way! Hands down an amazing place, well worth the money and makes me wish I was a local:) Thanks Vicki! read more

Worst massage I've ever had. The room where I had the massage was so cold and the masseuse hands were freezing. Go somewhere else!

This was my first Thai massage and I thought it was great. The young lady at the front desk and Bill (my therapist) made me feel welcomed and took time to explain how to get ready for my treatment. Bill was great at using his body to help me achieve deep and active stretches. He was great at being purposeful yet gentle and kept checking in to see how I was during throughout the process. I am more than happy with my experience. I should sleep well tonight I went a second time and loved it AGAIN!!!! read more

Bill is amazing! If you want to feel rested, stretched, relaxed and ready to keep going in your routine he is your guy. He puts the right pressure you need and checks in with you to see how are you. He has very good control of his body to perform the massage. I only did one hour because the place was full, but I'm a 2hr kind of person, knowing that, can't wait for my next session and see how it will get just better. He is attentive and professional. I did the Thai massage and selected that areas of work and he spent quality time on them. I feel great. I usually go to another Thai massage but today was busy but I'm so glad I got the opportunity to check this place, now I'm changing my massage 1st place to consider. And they have a good membership where you can save money if you do massages monthly. Thanks Bill for your kindness and your energy in my body. read more

I first stumbled upon this place and the receptionist recommended I take advantage of the free slot Olive has on a weekday. Olive is super sweet, respectful and super strong.
