Hana is a delightful, skilled masseuse who spends the time to understand exactly what you need, and to adjust your massage as it occurs to ensure the best experience. She keeps up to date on massage techniques and practices. I find her massages both therapeutic and relaxing. Her office is in a lovely older building and is very peaceful. I go as often as I can, and now my husband goes more than I do! read more

Tldr: I think Melt would be great for people in a lot of pain or with accessibility issues. I wish there was more hands on time and less talking. I came into Melt because I recently developed some minor but nagging shoulder pain, that's a bit annoying during everyday life, but especially during sport. My PT suggested that massage could provide me some relief. Hana was very nice and clearly experienced, but even with the allocated 30 min consult, we spent a good 45-50 mins just talking and experimenting with some exercises/tests that tbh, weren't particularly helpful, especially since my issue is one of athletic performance. I think the exercises should be left to the PTs :) For such an expensive massage, I would have expected to get a full 60 mins of actual massage, instead of just 40-45 mins. There's also a big focus on accessibility, which I respect, but again it took away from my massage time (too many check ins, minute adjustments, etc). I hadn't indicated that I needed this level of accommodation. read more

Hana is thoughtful, practiced, highly effective, highly skilled, and has a great way about her. From the very first massage, she endeavors to find the right pressure, the right mix of modalities, and the right assortment of areas to focus on for each massage. I like that you can book extra long massages too. Booking through her website is straightforward, and you have plenty of opportunity to communicate what you want from booking to arriving to mid-massage. I can't recommend her highly enough, and am so glad I found her! read more

I had the first appointment with Hana yesterday. I have had some severe lower back pain issues for a week and my daughter suggested I tried a medical massage. I am not into massages in general especially painful ones, but I decided to give it a try. By yesterday the severe pains were gone but dull residual pains were there. Hana and I talked in length about my back condition and also about my general health and daily habits and about what I thought was happening. She is a good communicater and listener and also explained her philosophy. "Less is more sometimes" stood out in my mind. Once she started the massage, she put small pillows and wedges under me to make sure I was in a comfortable position, which reminded me a little of some chiropractic methods. Since it was my first session, she asked me often and confirmed the right level of pressure for me and very attentive to what felt good or not, which made me feel comfortable that I was part of this treatment as much as she was. Nothing was strenuous but the dull pain became minimal at the end of the session and stayed that way the rest of the day. I had a lot less discomfort this morning when I got up than the last several days. I reported to her as such and I am looking forward to having several more sessions as well as going to a PT program to learn how to strengthen my core muscles etc. read more

Hana is amazing - and my massages with her are better than any others I've had. I started seeing Hana 6 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. Her prenatal massages were out of this world. I've continued to see her regularly, and after every massage I think 'wow, that was the best massage I've ever had." She is so skilled, tuned in to your body and is an overall wonderful person. I highly recommend! read more

Hana is a very skilled therapist who excels at tailoring treatment to the specific needs of her clients. She knows her stuff.

I wanted to say how incredibly helpful and patient Hana was in answering all my questions regarding her services. I had concerns regarding issues my sister was having and if massage would be appropriate. Hana provided a lot of different options and her voice is so calming I felt like my sister would be in very good hands. It's too bad I live in Chicago, because I would love to use her services. read more

I've had dozens of massages (with a dozen different masseuses), and this was absolutely one of the best I've ever had. Hana is one of a kind. With great attentiveness and care, she explored both my needs and hopes for the massage, as well as the relevant details of my medical background. The comversation truly felt like a collaborative effort to make sure I could leave feeling confident I received what I was coming for. What was even better than that? She translated every bit of it to the table. Both methodical and intuitive, Hana slowly and carefully relieved the pain of an old shoulder injury and improved my neck's range of motion after several weeks of stiffness and pain. Truthfully, by the end I felt transported. I've since sent her info to my mother and close friends because I want them to have this experience as well. I will definitely be back! read more

Hana is communicative and skilled! She made me feel very comfortable in her space, and started the session with a conversation about what I needed help with. This communication continued throughout the massage, which lay the foundations for a thorough and personalized massage. read more

Hana's holistic approach to her services is truly exceptional. She took the time to fully understand my mental, physical, and emotional needs, creating an immersive and highly personalized experience. Throughout the session, she actively listened and asked for feedback, ensuring that the massage was tailored to exactly what I needed. Her space is charming, cozy, and clean, providing the perfect environment for relaxation. This was my first visit, but it definitely won't be my last! read more

What a great massage. Slow, deep, and intentional. Hana asked me to atune to my body and she did as well. I already made my next appointment. read more

I surprised my best friend with an 80 minute prenatal massage on the day of her baby shower (she's 8 months along) and when she was done she told me it was the best massage she ever had! She said she felt like she was floating on a cloud for hours after because she was so relaxed and her body felt so loose and pain free. I will be going nowhere else other than the Oakland location from now on and neither will she! read more

My first visit to see Hana yesterday afternoon was great . I felt her compassion towards me and my suffering of my neck and shoulder injuries from many years ago. She did try her best working on my neck and shoulder area. I got a tremendous relief from my muscle and tendon tightness around the old injured area. I made one more appointment at the end of my visit. I am looking forward to seeing her soon. Hana is really a caring professional and her office is safe and clean. Sherry read more

Hana is a virtuoso. I have all sorts of musculoskeletal challenges (back being foremost) and I've had more massages and massage therapists than I can count. Hana is my trusted massage therapist. She has a unique understanding of the body and has expertise I've just not seen elsewhere: a unique ability to identify the precise location of problems and relieve them; a fluidity of motion and sense for the right amount and type (elbow, forearm, finger, palm etc.) of pressure for each situation; and an unique ability to remember what's different about me, ask the right questions and do just what's needed each time we meet. She somehow transcends the sense of touch into what feels more like a direct line of communication. Most other people I've worked with have few if any of these abilities and none but Hana have left me with lasting results. We have a trusted relationship and she's really special. read more

Excellent massage! I've never had the same level of dialogue about my needs and goals for a session as I had with Hana. By being on the same page about what I wanted from the session, she made ever second of the massage count! It was all exactly what I needed. read more

Hana is special. I've had a lot of wonderful massages before but her technique is next level and her touch is very healing. You can feel the years of experience and training that she's had. She takes a comprehensive and thorough intake before your first session, and really takes the time to find out what your goals are for the session. I also really appreciate her Covid-19 protocols. As someone who works in health care, often with immunocompromised patients, and takes care of a parent with a serious illness, I didn't think I'd feel safe getting a massage during the pandemic. I'm so grateful to be able to say, that I feel extremely safe with Hana and look forward to booking regularly. read more

Amazing healing place, I have had Joanna work on my back and shoulders for a few years now. The massages are the only thing that has been able to help with lowering my pain levels and increasing my flexibility. A lot of wear and tear on my body from 10 years in the Military, she really pays attention to my feed back and has really come up with a healthy healing plan. Best ever thanks Sal read more

Just the BEST massage you will ever receive. You will want to go as frequently as your schedule allows!!!

I just had my first massage since pre pandemic, and wow - I probably just had one of the best massages of my life (and I have had hundreds over the years!). I have been feeling a little nervous about getting a massage in this pandemic world, but the lower back pain I've been experiencing finally got the best of me and I decided to make an appt - and SO glad I did. First off, Hana has *excellent* protocols in place, and I felt completely safe the whole time. But beyond that, I don't think I've ever had such incredible communication with a massage therapist before - Hana spends 30 mins (!!) with you before your appt going over your history, needs, goals etc (and this is not part of your massage time). She communicates with you throughout the massage, but not in a chit chatty sort of way (which I've certainly experienced in the past and hate!), but in a very direct way about how you're feeling, how your body is responding, making sure she's meeting your needs etc. Not to say you can't relax and zone out - she was the perfect blend of being responsive and communicative and giving you the space and quiet to completely be in the experience. Also completely refreshing, Hana didn't boot me out after the massage, she took the time to demonstrate different stretches with me and even let me try out her foam roller. What an incredible (and overdue!) experience. Hana is a true healer and I can't wait for my next app in 2 weeks! read more

I have recently been really hard on my body and last minute decided I would try to make amends with a massage. I'm a bit picky about where to go (not a huge fan of too fancy or the other extreme) and had fingers crossed that Melt would be just right. Somehow I was guided to this wonderful place and handed myself over to the amazing therapists, leaving a much better and happier person. Hana worked a miracle to get both my sister and me in at the same time in a pinch. An angel indeed! Beth was my therapist and was kind and warm from the very start. She made me better and I know this first massage was the start of something wonderful. My sister was treated by Alex and shared that it was the best massage of her life. She is not one to over estimate. I am a fan of the intro interview as I know that massage is a part of a larger picture of health and should not just be done without an understanding of overall health for optimal results. Melt is clean, warm, simple and staffed by terrific professionals who help you to achieve the promise of their name. read more

Hana is excellent. She is totally client focused and will adapt the massage to meet your goals whether it's relaxation or therapeutic. Hana took a lot of time prior to the actual massage getting to know me. That did not cut into massage time. Highly recommend. read more

Hana is so attentive! She is thorough in understanding any medical issues you have, what you do to currently treat them, what has and hasn't worked in the past, and may help in the future. She sent me resources after the appointment, pulled out a book during the appointment, and spent ample time taking notes to establish our relationship for my return visits. I'm so impressed! Her knowledge in anatomy and ability to feel out tension is top-notch, too. It's taken me years to find someone as skilled as her. She'll definitely customize her style to your needs and she's all about communication. Her location and office is wonderfully tranquil as well, I highly recommend booking with her! read more

I am a regular client at Melt Massage. I have received care from all of the therapists who work there. I have always come away feeling so much relief from the aches and pains I walk in with. Hana never fails to make my body happy. She is careful and always checks in with me about position, pressure and technique during the massage and afterwards. All of the other technicians have good skills to relieve and relax those tight tense painful areas. I can't say enough good things about this place. The environment is peaceful. The people are warm, open and kind. I will always come back. Thank you, Hana and crew! read more

Fantastic gem of a place. I've never gone in for a massage anywhere else and had such a focused, client driven massage. Very friendly and knowledgable staff that make clients feel immediately relaxed. I nearly fell asleep the last time I went in and was in pain when I first started. I highly recommend Melt Massage. read more

I wanted to love Melt. I really did. They are local, thoroughly committed to their craft and squeezed me in at the last second. Love, right? Wrong. My biggest problem is I was looking for a lovely relaxing massage. This is not that. And after completing the two-page survey and answering personal questions for one-hour, I thought I was pretty clear that I was looking for a "relaxing" massage vs. a therapeutic, PT-style, massage. Apparently not. My second problem was the "chat factor." God, I hate chatting through a massage. As part of the one-hour interview we even talked about how much I hated it. Despite this, she kept. asking. me. questions. So, dreamy relaxing massage, no. Therapy session followed by therapeutic and chatty massage, yes. read more

Upon receive a referral from my Chiropractor that Hana and the Melt team are some of the best in the business, I booked myself an hour massage with Hana. My mistake was only booking an hour as I just didn't want it to stop. I've already booked my next appointment and will be opting for at least 1.5 next time. She's such an incredible professional - taking time to really understand how different parts of your body respond to different types of massage and offering a combination of styles that's customized just for you. Fantastic. read more

My first ever professional massage, and honored to share the experience with Hana! I came searching for a therapeutic massage to inspire creativity, play, fun, and to invite myself to be more vulnerable, right brained. A day after my massage, I had an emotional breakthrough... in my dream! I felt emotions that I had not felt in years! I woke up early with incredible energy, surprised to feel so much again. I am still learning to feel more, play more.. and heal myself. Invite yourself to balance work with rest...Give yourself a chance to play and feel more - Hana will guide you based on your unique needs. Thank you Hana! read more

I'll just say this about my massage with Beth... I usually zoom around in my car. Speeding. Changing lanes a lot. Road rage. After my massage, I was driving down the 24 when I noticed a cop with his little laser beam. Too late!!!!!!...for the other guy! I happened to be driving 5 miles UNDER the speed limit because I was so relaxed. The guy right behind me however....ticket! read more

My wife gifted me a 90 min massage with Alex. It's one of the best gifts I've received! Between relaxation massage, deep tissue (when I'm logging lots of miles), and PT on a nuisance shoulder, I've had a lot of bodywork done (probably been worked on by 30 folks over the years). Alex is one of the top 5 practitioners I've had the pleasure of experiencing! His communication is spot on - seeking understanding of what his client needs, and checking-in effectively throughout the session for feedback. He's in the sweet spot, not to chatty, and not completely silent. I left the session with my specific issues addressed, and a handful of recommendations from Alex that I could manage to make the treatment last. I enthusiastically recommend Alex to someone who has aches, pains, soreness, or other issues, and wants an attentive practitioner to help heal your body in a relaxing environment. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I got massages with Sabrina before she had her baby and then started with Hana. Both are fantastic. Such good listeners, such amazing body workers. I always leave there feeling SO much better and more relaxed. I have low back pain and they really understand the mechanics of bodies, plus they use additional things like cupping and special pillows to cater to your needs. I am so so happy to have Melt Massage nearby. read more

Hana is exactly what you want in a massage therapist. She is very thorough and communicative and really spends the time to get to know your body. I've mostly gone into massage sessions in the past with the belief that it really needs to hurt to be effective. Hana spent some time going over her approach and explained that she didn't believe that massage is something that should painful, instead she slowly works into your muscles so that your entire body can relax into the massage. I'd recommend her to anybody who wants to have a relaxing and pain free day! She will give you 5 star attention and 5 star service :) read more

Last night I received a wonderful massage from Christopher at Melt Massage. He really listened to my information & needs. He was very attentive to detail & subtly modified the massage techniques as needed as the session went along. He combined myo-fascial release, acupressure points, integrative strokes and passive range of motion movements to release and hydrate different tissues. I look forward to doing a series of sessions with him. I now know I have an excellent massage therapist to help me stay active & resilient for many years. Thank you for your expertise & commitment as a healer & massage therapist. read more

I am 25 weeks pregnant and I struggle with some pretty horrible nighttime hip pain. I had never heard of Melt, but called on a whim Sunday to see if they were open because I was desperate. They were closed, but called me back Monday to tell me they had a cancellation today. I got an appointment with Adriana and my massage was SO GOOD! I got a side-lying prenatal massage on a super comfy heated table and she maintained very firm pressure throughout, which was exactly what I needed. Adriana was very sweet, she checked on me a couple of times to make sure that the pressure was still good, and she really paid attention to everything I wrote on my intake forms about my aching spots/injuries and special requests. I highly recommend her for prenatal or a regular massage! read more

I bought a 4-pack of massages from Hana at Melt Massage for my wife, when I heard the financial situation of the Claremont. My wife went to visit Hana 3 days ago and she is still raving about how involved she was to find everything. Hana even found an area where a few of her ribs were "aligned" and helped my wife remember hurting herself in that area, after falling off a ladder. Great customer service and a great job making my wife feel calm and relaxed! read more

Not all massages are created equal!!! I have known Hana through Farmstead Cheeses and WInes where I work. She gave me the most amazing 5 minute chair massage recently, which took away a migraine-grade headache almost instantly. I was able to work the rest of the night pain free. A few days later a booked a 1 1/2 hr massage with Beth. I have to say it was one of, if not THE, best therapeutic massages I have ever had. Just not the same as going for a fun "spa day" massage with girlfriends. This was BUSINESS. I felt a lot better afterwards. Next time though, I am NOT going to go to work later in the day. I will try to savor the experience for hours longer. read more
