Great Ambience! Enjoyed the Massage. Perfect and intimate. If you are in the Oakland/piedmont area, I would definitely recommend this place

Disclaimer: This was my first massage…read more My experience with Andrea was fantastic. I had never been to massage before, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I'm definitely going back now. I was very welcomed and felt comfortable immediately upon walking into the studio, which is very professional and clean. Andrea is incredibly kind and warm, and I felt at ease the entire time. She had me fill out a form, and made sure to go over all the details of what I wrote. I was coming in for some lower back pain, and we went over the nuances of my body in as much detail as I could provide. The massage itself was great. I was definitely riding the post-massage high afterward for a while. For my first massage I didn't really have any expectations, but I also didn't really deliver any feedback. Andrea did check in a few times when she was applying more pressure to a specific area, which I found comforting. Next time, I'm going to give her more pointed feedback for what I want from certain areas (really focus on here, really go harder here, etc). I have no doubt she'll receive and listen. Highly recommended!

Looking…read moreat all the 1 star reviews including this review of a customer asking for the message therapist to stop and her refusing to listen, to the point the customer had to get up and stand up naked to yell at her to leave.... I'm appalled looked at these 1 stars.... and there are plenty..... Anyways, I will speak to my experience: I went here because I heard about it here and there. Will never return. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude and gruff, the place felt dirty, and massage itself sucked, didn't seem like she knew what she was doing, there was no presence, or attention. So, I did NOT tip (and I usually always tip because its a nice thing to do, especially if you really appreicate the services etc but I was upset by my experience and a massage is supposed to relax you).. when she was done, I got dressed, and start walking towards to the exit door and the message therapist accosts me "Why didn't you tip me?! I gave you a massage!?! Why no tip!?" I just shook my head and left. I will not return. They are rude, really poor interpersonal skills and have no skills in their craft.

I used to see an excellent Ashiatsu…read moretherapist in Chicago that I loved for years (still a friend) and it's so effective when done right. When I made the appointment, she told me she wouldn't only do Ashiatsu but she would do a combination of modalities. So I said okay and went. The room smelled like thick smoke and was very messy. I wasn't sure if it was hygienic. There was nowhere to put my clothes, so to avoid throwing them on floor, I had to hang them from her doorknob. In the hour and a half I paid for, she only did 25 minutes of massage. Ashiatsu was maybe 3 minutes of that, if any. She also seemed to have no intuition about pressure and kept hurting me or going too light. I kept having to say "ouch," tell her "that's too rough" or "you can do more than that." The other hour, she was doing some kind energy stuff, which I didn't like at all. It sounded like she was wheezing really loudly above my head in order to pressure me to breathe along with her, but as time went on and there was no more massage, I just kept getting more annoyed. When I flipped onto my back, I started choking from all the smoke, so she turned on some fans. I bought my bro and sis gift certificates to see her before I went to see her myself, and I regret that. Afterwards I called and told them not to go. I'm sure she's a nice person but I gave her way too much money for a very poor experience, and I need to go get a real massage now.

Alex is PHENOMENAL. His level of expertise is out of this world. I've gotten full body massages at…read morea few other places in San Diego and because that was all I had to compare to, they were great for what they were. A massage therapist I went to in San Diego recommended that I try neuromuscular therapy due to my needs and her noting that my body responded well to compression massage (thank goodness for her because she led me to search for NMT therapists specifically in the Bay Area). There are so many positives but the main ones for me are that I was having migraines once a month and after going to Alex regularly they were completely gone. He listens to your needs every session. There are multiple times when my upper back hurts more and he focuses on that area. I personally regard my sessions as treatment rather than a massage because of how they are tailored to my needs. No two massages have felt the same and that's a pro for me. I also really appreciate the knowledge he has about improving posture and tips for us remote desk workers. I've needed to take some of his urgent appointments due to hurting my back and foot and he was super responsive and both times I felt improvement. So amazing! Very grateful for those urgent appointments! Alex is extremely communicative with rate changes, when there is a COVID exposure if you have an upcoming appointment, updates on what he might be doing that impacts you as a client, if he's taking new clients or not, and for scheduling. I've been going for a while now and Alex has always kept his mask on (in case that's important to you!). He has also offered perks for free like essential oils and hot stone when other places charge you at least $5-10 extra for that. Parking is extremely easy, but you might have a hard time finding the spot initially. Instructions sent do explain how to get there. Highly recommend Alex. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!
