Nando's at the St Enoch Centre is located on the upper floor of the mall, it's located confusingly close to another Nando's, which is located right outside of the lower level of the mall, in the square. Now I get Glasgow is a big city, but having two restaurants that close doesn't really make sense when there are other parts of the city too.
Anyway back to this particular location - The location is a decent size and despite being located within a mall, they have done a good job of making it look and feel like a Nando's you'd find elsewhere, the vibes were indistinguishable from what I'm used to with Nando's in England, the menu and prices also remain the same, the only difference I noticed is they have IRN-BRU here but that's what you'd expect while in Scotland.
They have lots of comfortable seating here too, with quite a few booths, again rare in a mall location but certainly nice to see.
I visited later in the evening before they closed, despite that the Nandocas were still friendly, they advised me of a wait for the food which I appreciated but the food took no longer than normal regardless.
I do find the prices a little high at Nando's, for the kind of place that it is, and the prices keep going up every couple of months too. I also dislike the fact they no longer offer Mayonnaise, replacing it with a vegan alternative or a paid Peri-naise (Mayonnaise + Peri-Peri Sauce). On this occasion, my meal came to £14.45 before any rewards and my Perinaise, which didn't include a drink as I opted for tap water.
I ordered a Medium Spiced Chicken Butterfly with Peri Chips, Spicy Rice and Perinaise. The temperature of the chicken and the fries was lukewarm, potentially they had cooked both of them too soon while waiting for the rice, which was piping hot. My food was brought to my table without the peri-salt, but the lady who brought my food over remembered this and brought over the shaker without me having to ask.
Despite the temperature, the food was pretty tasty and I enjoyed it, although a small part of the chicken didn't taste right around the edges. I didn't send the food back as I was hungry and tired and wanted to get back to my hotel having had a busy day since arriving in Glasgow on the train from Manchester.
3* - Average Nando's, comfortable for a mall location, staff friendly but room for improvement. read more
