I went to Nando's for the first time today in 3 years, and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it considering the first time I went to Nando's in the St Enoch Center I couldn't have enjoyed it less.
Despite the shopping centre being absolutely mobbed, a normal weekend at Silverburn, and the restaurant itself being quite busy, we were seated immediately upon arrival by an incredibly pleasant host. Colin and I decided we would have the Meal Platter between us, which was a whole chicken, 2 small sides and 2 bottomless soft drinks for a very reasonably £19.30. We decided to order it half and half, because I'm a wimp and wanted the "plain-ish" flavour, and Colin wanted Medium, and got chips and garlic bread to accompany. As someone who spends an exorbitant amount of money on drinks in a restaurant, the bottomless soft drinks were a godsend!
We skipped the starters, and went straight fro the main course. The 20 minute wait for the food didn't bother me, as I can talk for Britain, and people watching is a favourite hobby of mine, especially in shopping centres! I like the atmosphere in this Nando's, because we were seated just next to the small fountain and stream, which was lovely, and the open plan gives a nice feel. When our food came I tucked right in and it was delicious, but it was an absolute feast, so much so I had to ask for a goody bag to take home what I didn't finish! My only problem during eating was being pestered by 3 waiters over a half an hour period all asking me if I wanted more chips or garlic bread or rice, which I would've went up and ordered if I'd wanted. There isn't much communication between waiters, with them asking the same questions to tables who've already been asked. We decided not to order a dessert either as nothing particularly took our fancy.
Apart from that small fault, I can't fault the restaurant or experience on much else! I don't like the fact you personally have to go to the bar to order, it makes it feel like a pub. The food isn't the greatest I've had, it's quite basic. I'd say it's definitely only somewhere you go when you're specifically in the mood, not really a place you go on a spur of the moment, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would go back! read more
