Today I had the chicken stir fry that came with onions, green peppers and mushrooms. It also came with green beans, the canned kind. Bland! The stir fry was good but a little salty. For appetizer, we had nachos which was your standard nacho cheese, sour cream, salsa, and jalapeños. I picked off the jalapeños as I don't like them. Seating is limited. It got pretty packed around lunch time. Service was great by our waitress. She refilled our waters. So we came here with a big group for Pau Hana hour and WOW! This was my third time here, but also my best time. Shoutout to our waitress for doing a great job with 20+ people. We were the only ones in the restaurant for about three hours. The happy hour menu is pretty good! I really like the assortment of food that they have to offer. The nachos were so delicious! They gave a perfect amount of cheese and the Kalua pig was nice and tender. It was a good balance between the two. The wings were yummy! I think I prefer these wings over Buffalo Wild Wings. Husband and I decided to eat here for dinner. I'm glad I made a great choice in coming here. It was my husband's first time here and he was happy we came here to eat. He said he wouldn't mind coming here to eat again. We both ordered the Combination plate with yakitori chicken and fried shrimp. We got it with mashed potatoes. Next time I'm going to get it with fries instead. My mashed potatoes were too bland for me. Next time I might try their Hawaiian plate or Steak plate. I really enjoyed their Super Saimin too when I ate here with my Mom. Their Combination plate is a Good deal because you can pick two or three items from their selections. It comes with soup or salad and jello or pudding for dessert. We really enjoyed our dinner and the food was tasty and the Staff here is friendly. Highly recommended and will definitely return. I could barely make out what she said so we seated ourselves. When she finally came to the table with menus, I told her it was our first time here. She dropped off the menus and walked away. After a while, she came back. We placed our order of a french dip sandwich. The menu said it included fries, soup and salad. Then she told us that it was choice of one. When I mentioned the discrepancy she said "You don't think we should reprint the whole menu for a small error do you?" Our meal was brought out and it was nothing to write about. Plain bread with roast beef and no seasoning. There was a pickle spear and au jus and french fries. The server did not come back even once to ask how the meal was or to see if we needed anything. No refill of water glasses. When we finished the meal, we had to look for her to get the bill. The total was $17.75 for a sandwich with nothing special. I have been here only for breakfast. I ate the loco moco this time and asked for light gravy. As you can see from the picture, that didn't happen. However, it was easy for me to just move the gravy on the side. It tasted pretty good. Food and price: about 3 1/2 stars. The reason for the 4 stars is the service. There is one waitress for the entire restaurant and there were about 30 of us in our group. Unfortunately, I don't know her name but she is always working in the morning when we meet there. She is very friendly, communicative, efficient and anticipatory. What more could you ask for in a waiter or waitress? We always have a great time when we get together. This is my second bad review because the service needs to be up to par. I'm not going to compare it to a five star restaurant but servers should know when to communicate to their patrons about certain changes within the bar such as last call for drinks as well as FOOD! Especially since we were sitting on the restaurant side. It does state on the menu that the kitchen closes as 12 am but I believe they would make more money asking if there's anything else they want to order before the kitchen closes. There should be last call by at least 11:45 so there's enough time to make the food and close before click out. As someone visiting late, I just got off work and definitely looking for food to soak up the alcohol before driving. Anticipation is something servers should have because someone is always looking to order something right at last call which would make the place more money. It is what it is though. I've been to Nancy's periodically over the years but haven't been there for ages. It's a good pupu place for locals and the meals are pretty good. My wife and I went there on a Wednesday at about 1:00 for lunch. This wasn't our first choice but we settled for Nancy's because it isn't that easy to find a dine in restaurant these days because of the pandemic. This turned out to be a good choice. The staff is friendly and attentive, so far so good. I was surprised on how affordable the menu was and there is a lot of local food on the menu here. I ordered the teriyaki beef sandwich with fries and my wife ordered the BLT with onion rings. My teriyaki sandwich was really delicious, the meat was ribeye and there put two good slices of meat in it. Also a nice touch was that they toasted the bun. The fries were just so so, nothing special. My wife commented that the BLT was good except that they only put two slices of bacon in her sandwich. But her onion rings were the bomb, it seems like they make their own here because the rings were perfectly coated and perfectly fried. The fried noodles were really good here. The nachos with salsa wasn't good at all. The salsa tasted like the one they sell at the grocery store in the jar in the chips aisle. Sorry I don't know the brand. I'm pretty sure they sell better tasting ones that taste more homemade/authentic at the grocery store if that's where they are buying it from. I have tried the kalua pig nachos and it wasn't bad but I feel like it's really hard to mess up kalua pig nachos. Prices-- they are pretty expensive for not having quality food. One time we decided to go there after the run and now we have gone there several times as one of our main after run eating spots. Being a new resident of Wapio Gentry, we were looking for a breakfast place this morning and we found Nancy's Kitchen. I been to Nancy's a long time ago to shoot darts but I never knew they opened up for breakfast. There hours are from 8a - 2a. They also turn into a bar at night. They have a pretty nice dart set up if you like to shoot darts. If you don't know where Nancy's at, they're located in the Wapio Shopping center by Foodland and Big City Diner. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center so you won't have any trouble finding parking. The staff was very nice and kept our coffee always full. As for the ambiance, it like any other mom and pop restaurant. The prices range anywhere from $10 to about $15 for a plate. I ended up going with Nancy's Adobo Fried Rice Omelette. It was pretty good but not one of my top favorites as to adobo fried rice omelettes. If you're looking for a quick place to stop and try our for breakfast. I'd recommend Nancy's. Would I go back? She always enjoys her meals and always has leftovers. That being said I give their food 5 stars. The bad: The service is pretty hit or miss. For years that I have been coming here the service was downright terrible. In recently years, they have hired some younger better servers. There is a younger Filipino guy that is always great service and very friendly with my kids. The girls that work here are not good. This visit, we got the bad service treatment. The restaurant was really slow but the service was still slow. There were 3 tables of guests and there were 2 waitresses and one came later. The order taking was fast and waiting for food was little slow for no customers being in the restaurant. When we was eating dinner the waitresses came by once to refill water and never came again. I had to wait a pretty long time to receive my bill after I asked for it. After I got my bill there was another long wait to get the waitress my credit card. The waitress seemed busy cleaning up other tables or doing other things then paying attentions to the customers. They also have a new rewards system that gives you discounts for visiting there but it is not promoted and I didn't get the benefit of using the system. So service is probably 2 stars. Finally decided to try this place out to have a meal and not drinks. Went on a Sunday evening and it wasn't crazy busy, got seated right away. Just made it just in time for happy hour. I ordered a lava flow and my Fiancé ordered Malibu and rum. For dinner I ordered the Hawaiian plate, everything about it was delish, I ordered it with poi. My Fiancé ordered the fried rice omelet with pork adobo. We both had no complaints and no left overs. We will definitely be back here again, hoping to try dishes from the appetizer menu. read more

My family and I are really enjoying breakfast at Nancy's Kitchen in Waipio. Our particular favorite are their poached eggs. They are always cooked to perfection, and are by far the best we've ever had. Many restaurants use vinegar in their poaching water to encourage the whites to coagulate quickly. We get put off when our eggs taste of vinegar, it drastically spoils the taste. At Nancy's Kitchen we have not ever experienced this problem, and we go at least twice a week. The prices are not bad, and Jessica the server, who works the breakfast shift is a Speedy Gonzales. She zooms around the restaurant taking excellent care of all her customers. Our experience with the oil laden food is as follows...Hubbie ate fried noodles for dinner last night...we took em to go and I as I plated the food at home noticed how greasy slippery they were but didn't give it a lot of thought. During the middle of night poor guy awoke running to the toilet with a bad stomach ache. It's an understatement to say that the eating establishment competition is immense. We chose to support local but sadly it'll be the last. We were greeted and seated by a friendly male employee, which is probably the only pleasant thing about our experience. After sitting for a while, we served water and had out orders taken. The fried shrimp was crispy but wasn't hot, not even warm, the yakitori chicken was very bland, fries seemed to have been sitting and just warmed up because it was hard and dried and the mixed veggies was half cold half warm. We were not checked on, even once. No water or wine refills, not asked how we were doing, nothing. There were 3 other couples, none of us were checked on BUT we could easily hear the employees laughing and having a good time in the background. Did I complain about my meal? Absolutely not because I was too hungry to wait plus we know what goes on with re-makes. Sadly, our experience was a terrible one!
