So went here yesterday since I needed soft food to eat. I was greeted by a nice gentleman behind the counter who helped take my order then I sat a table . He gave me the iced soybean milk very quickly and only a few minutes later already got the chicken fried rice cake that was cooked very well both the chicken and the soft rice cakes! Soup dumplings followed. I don't really like pork so it was nice to have a chicken option both the dumpling skin and the inside was bomb. It was everything I wanted in the moment. I will definitely return here the next time I have a craving and it's great value for money! read more

Nice, tasty addition to the neighborhood, as the world-famous xiao long bao from nan Xiang make their way to Williamsburg, making it a lot easier for Brooklynites such as myself to taste delicious soup dumplings this side of Flushing. Occupying the space of sow-defunct (and sorely missed!) Dim Sum Bar, this is mostly a takeout space, although there are 3-4 small tables inside, and a couple more in the small outdoor space at the back. The decor modern/minimalist, what you expect for a takeout. Service is courteous and the dishes are prepared fast. We enjoyed all the dishes we tried: the crab and pork soup dumplings of course, but also the scallion pancake with sliced beef, the four happiness sponge tofu, and the shrimp fried udon. As this is mostly a takeout business, most dishes are served in takeout containers. This means that, if you dine in, you will produce an inordinate amount of plastic. As there is only one trash can, it's unclear whether any of the plastic used here is actually recycled. I certainly hope so. read more

Came here because I was craving some dim sum food on a Sunday afternoon! The beef fried rice cake and the signature soup dumplings were so good and was the perfect portion for two people. We also ordered an extra dish of the beef tendon and tripe in spicy sauce, but the dish was cold. I think it was meant to be eaten cold, but I didn't like it. I would have preferred if the dish was hot. The portions were big since the 3 dishes were too much for two people, so we ended up taking the beef tendon/tripe home for leftovers the next day, which tasted a lot better with rice and heated up. Service at this place was a bit slow. We ordered on the screen, but waited quite a while to get the food. It's pretty much self service, there's a water pitcher in the back that you have to get yourself, and when you are done with the meal, you need to toss the food/containers in the trash and put the tray away. I didn't appreciate that this place used to-go containers and utensils, even if you are dining in. Overall, I did really like their soup dumplings and beef rice cakes, so I'd definitely come back for those items again if I'm in the area :) read more

The staffs were friendly. Be sure to check in via Yelp to get free iced soy milk or lime green tea. The lime green tea was very refreshing. We ordered two soup dumplings crab and pork both are delicious! You can add vinegar, soy sauce and/or chili paste to your dipping sauce. The scallion pancake and chicken rice cakes are another good option. The rice cakes have a bit more sauce therefore, it was salty. However, you can get refill unlimited water at the back. You can dine in or take out. You can order your food via the kiosk by the door. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Would recommend coming here again! read more

I asked the girl at the counter if the scallion pancake was honestly good and we had a little moment of me looking into her eyes and laughing bc she's like you're trying to see if I'm lying - lol - sadly despite her recommendation the scallion pancake was not that good. It was basically just all friedness, no actual onion, and idk where the pancake was. My friend got the spicy wonton peanut sauce dumplings. She ate them because she was hungry but said she didn't really like them. Unfortunate. read more

Unknowingly saw this on the day of the soft opening. The store is clean and organized. There's sauces and napkins on each table. Most of the items have a picture on the menu, and they even give instructions on how to eat soup dumplings. :) Xiao long bao (5/5) - pleasantly surprised with this, as not a lot of places make it well. The soup inside was good and the dough was soo soft. Beef scallion pancake (3/5) - tasted like what I expected but it's doughier than what I prefer. Wonton with peanut sauce (4/5) - the wontons were mixed with chili and peanut sauce. It was a tasty combination, but just a tad too spicy for me to enjoy without breaking a sweat. read more

Now when I crave soup dumplings, I don't need to travel far! Make sure to check in on Yelp and you can get a free drink. I got the Iced Lime Green Tea which was pretty good! Workers are friendly and they have seating inside if you wanted to eat here. I've ordered for pickup a couple times already. Food is always ready when I arrive and the food is still hot by the time I walk back home. Soup dumplings (both the pork and crab flavors) are good and the flavors are consistent with their Flushing location. I like pan fried noodles and they separate the sauce and noodles which I appreciate. Noodles were crispy just the way I like it! The only thing I will say is that the soup dumplings can stick together. I had a couple of the soup dumplings pop when I tried to separate them. Container is a bit tight to fit 6 dumplings. read more

Honestly shocked this place has such high reviews. The dumplings were incredibly disappointing and we tried just about every kind of variety they had. It's basically like dumpling fast food (I also noticed it's a chain and if you look at its other locations the ratings are lower too). The highlight were the pan fried pork buns and the steamed broccoli... The XLB lacked flavor and something tasted off about the beef dumplings especially (had to throw them out after only eating half of them, which I forced down as I hate wasting food). It's also not super cheap either for an "express" so you're not getting much bang for your buck nor is it good food. Would seriously recommend going to other dumpling spots in the general vicinity as this is not it... read more

Stopped by Nan Xiang Express for a quick bite and left totally satisfied. The xiao long bao here is legit--super flavorful broth, thin but sturdy skin, and a clean pork filling that hits all the right notes. You can tell they've kept the quality from the original Flushing spot. I also got the braised beef noodle soup and it was unexpectedly great. The broth was rich and savory without being too oily, and the beef was tender with just the right amount of fat. Noodles had a nice bounce too. Don't skip the soy milk--it's subtly sweet, really fresh, and balances everything out. Perfect with the dumplings if you want something other than tea. read more

I wouldn't say the food is amazing, but it definitely hits the spot in a pinch and I'm glad they opened one up in Williamsburg. There's a few tables inside and outside, with tableside chili oil, vinegar, and soy sauce so it's definitely preferable to eat there instead of take out. Everything they serve is given in disposable containers though. You can order at the counter or at a kiosk in the front. Pan fried crabmeat and pork dumpling ($10) - I wish these were crispier on the bottom, for a proper pan-fried bottom. It's juicy on the inside, but doesn't have any soup. Didn't taste the crabmeat on this either since I think the pork overpowered it but the filling was nicely seasoned and tasty. Dough was pretty thick compared to the meat. Great snack / light meal though! read more

First time at this location but I been to two other nan Xiang locations before. This place is quiet and the food here is solid. I ordered the pan fried dumplings which came with 6 for $10 and soy milk $3.50. Really love the soy milk here. It's not too sweet. The service here was fast and food came neatly in a red bag. This location is also very cozy. The pan fried dumplings didn't have the seared bottom like the other location. It was soft. The chili oil and vinegar goes very well with the dumplings though. The pork meat was juicy. read more

One of my favorite places because it's close, they have chrysanthemum tea, which I feel many places don't have anymore, they serve my favorite variation of the chive dumpling, they have a lot of newer or unique dishes, + they're on the cheaper end. They're also open for dinner + have a few good dishes on that menu too. *recommended What I Ordered: - chrysanthemum tea*: light, sweet, approachable + refreshing - chive dumplings*: comes in many variations, this place is pan fried with a wonton skin- my fav! - pork dumpling (siu mai): a classic, more meaty here + no(?) shrimp mixed in, not my fav version - shrimp ball w mushroom: new dish (for me), very soft + airy - fried shrimp in red rice roll*: also a unique dish, crispy + soft, so good when it's fresh! - custard bun: cute pig decor, my fav filling for a bun, sweet but not too much - turnip cake: not good, too doughy + the oyster sauce is too salty - shrimp stuffed eggplant: same shrimp mix as the balls?, too oily - egg custard bread bowl: new dish (for me), lightly sweet filling w sesame aroma, I didn't care for the bread

The most recent time, I was here for their dim sum brunch, which is either $36 for AYCE plus $2 for tea, or they price each thing individually. It was a bit annoying that the tea was not included, but at least both the Oolong and Chrysanthemum teas were good quality and readily filled. Service in general was pretty fast and frequently checked on our large semi- private table to see if we needed anything else to order or more tea. The dim sum selection is a bit smaller than many of the traditional dim sum spots, but the overall quality was excellent, with a couple of definite highlights and some more unique dishes such as dumplings with pickled shrimp, crawfish, or Taizhou rice along with Ningbo wontons. In general, I would say that the wrappers were properly thin and everything was filled generously. The aforementioned Pickled Pepper Shrimp Dumplings were one of the highlights. The slightly spicy and sour pickles made it taste very light and paired nicely with the plump shrimp. In terms of other shrimp dim sum, their version of Har Gow/Crystal Shrimp Dumplings included a little bit of sweet crab for an extra touch. It was also tasty. I also liked the Ningbo wontons, filled with a variety of ingredients including minced pork, dried shrimp, yard long beans, pickled vegetables, bamboo shoots, and others. It had a wonderful mix of textures with some interesting crunchy notes. Another unique option mentioned is their Crawfish Dumplings, which are very noticeable compared to the other dumplings due to their bright red color. I appreciated the spiciness but found these a tad fishy with a thicker wrapper than most, but others loved these and ordered more. For more standard dumplings, their Xiao Long Bao/XLB were pretty good, and they had a tasty version of Sticky Rice Pork Siu Mai. The Baked Pork Buns were good as they were not too sticky sweet. Finally, there was a decent version of Pork Dumplings in Chili Oil. Non-dumpling highlights included their excellent turnip cakes along with steamed spare ribs, chicken feet, and a particularly tasty version of steamed beef tripe with satay sauce. I would skip the Beef Short Ribs With Black Pepper, which had good flavor but was way too chewy. I know someone else ordered the spring rolls, but I don't remember trying them. They also apparently now have a Ningbo speciality called Shi Bing Tong, but I don't remember ordering it. Someone else got their simple and tasty porridge/congee, only available traditionally with pork and century eggs, and enjoyed it. I tried a bit, and it was indeed good. Desserts included a tasty Crispy Durian Pastry, alright Sesame Balls, a good Pineapple Bun/Bolo Bao, and Custard Buns, which everyone loved, but they had a cuttlefish ink shine, so I couldn't try them. This is a fantastic, reasonably priced AYCE Dim Sum. Would recommend it if they still offer this deal.

Soup dumplings are her specialty, and living in North Jersey, we've had our fair share of some really good ones. We were downtown in the city this past Sunday and decided to check out Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings on St. Marks. As we were walking in, another customer was heading out and enthusiastically blurted, "This place SLAPS!" Well, that definitely set the bar pretty high. Turns out, he wasn't lying. THIS PLACE SLAPS! We started with two orders of soup dumplings, one with crab and one without. Both were fantastic. Hot, juicy, flavorful, and exactly what you want from a great soup dumpling. The Dumpling Gang representative at our table definitely approved. Next up was the house fried rice and pan fried noodles with chicken. Both were delicious and rounded out the meal perfectly. Pair everything with a couple of cold Asian beers and you've got yourself one seriously satisfying Sunday meal. Beyond the food, the wait staff was awesome. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming without hovering. The restaurant itself has a comfortable, inviting atmosphere that makes you want to hang out and keep ordering. Great dumplings, great food, cold beers, excellent service, and a cool atmosphere. What more do you need? The Dumpling Gang gives Nan Xiang St. Marks its official stamp of approval. We ordered the **multicolor steamed pork buns** to try a variety, and I highly recommend getting this because there was honestly no bad bite. The dough is a little thicker than some other places, but it gave the buns a nice chewy texture, while the inside was packed with savory soup and meat. This was definitely my favorite dish! We also got the **pan-fried pork and crab buns**, which I liked because they were mini-sized and crispy on the bottom. The **pan-fried crispy noodles** were also nice and flavorful, although I would have liked more of the noodles to be crispy. For dessert, we tried the **ube red bean bun** and **black sesame mochi**. The mochi had a generous amount of filling, although I have to admit I still preferred the version at Din Tai Fung. Overall, we were very happy to finally try this Michelin-recommended spot! Chill vibes, family-friendly, reasonable prices, and a super quick food turnaround -- exactly what you want when you have hungry stomachs. Would definitely come back for those juicy steamed soup dumplings! IG: Jubes111

What an experience beyond your wildest dream to occur during NYC Restaurant Week accompanied with a complimentary beverage in 2025, 2026, and hopefully again in 2027. Mito's food consistency continues to be unmatched with their three course restaurant week lunch. In 2026, the Mito lunch menu: - Complimentary passion fruit Mojito (non-alcoholic) - had an interesting carbonated taste with a mojito sensation on the palette. Difficult to explain this non-alcoholic mojito taste, which was a first time experience. In 2025's NYC Restaurant Week, Mito had the most delightful and perfectly paired red wine also complimentary with my restaurant week three course lunch menu. - In 2026, tried a different appetizer, Shrimp Shumai 8pcs accompanied with sweet soy sauce - was worth the food leap! The shrimp was succulent encased in a melt in your mouth wrap. This was my first time tasting shumai because I usually would have shrimp dumplings from a Chinatown restaurant in Lower Manhattan. Fortunately, shumai was an elevated taste of simple shrimp goodness much better than shrimp dumplings. By the time I remembered a food picture, four shrimp shumai were already gone and digested in pure delight. - Crispy Red Snapper 5pcs caramelized soy sauce, rice wine vinaigrette - was paired with fried rice as each crispy red snapper filet had scallion & caramelized sauce. Each delicious snapper bite was accompanied with a sampling of fried rice. However, the fried rice finished before the red snapper was all gone. Each bite of crispy snapper was better than the last bite. - Waffle Sandwich Ice Cream 4 pcs, choice of matcha - the difficulty was choosing your hand or utensils to cut into this matcha ice cream waffle goodness. The waffle enclosed creamy matcha ice cream leaving you craving for more. Let it be known, Mito in Fort Greene, Brooklyn continues to have a restaurant week three course food experience with a FABULOUS price point including a complimentary drink that is worth returning to year after year! Nan Xiang Express brings the flavors of the well-known Nan Xiang brand and packages them into a faster, more casual dining experience without losing the dishes that made it popular. We walked into a clean, modern interior with plenty of seating, making it a convenient stop for anything from a quick lunch to a relaxed dinner. Despite the express format, the space felt comfortable enough to sit down and enjoy a full meal, and the steady flow of customers reflected its appeal as a reliable spot for quality Chinese comfort food. The soup dumplings are the clear highlight and are worth ordering on any visit. We ordered a few baskets and found them arriving filled with rich broth and flavorful fillings, the wrappers thin enough to hold the soup without breaking. The chili oil added an extra layer of heat without overwhelming the dumplings, and the balance of the filling and broth came through clearly in each bite. Beyond the xiao long bao, the beef noodle soup was hearty and comforting with tender chunks of beef, the broth savory and well seasoned. The wontons in spicy peanut sauce made a great appetizer, with a creamy, nutty coating that paired well with the slight heat. The menu also included scallion pancakes, potstickers, and other Shanghai-inspired dishes that made it easy to share a variety of items across the table. Ordering was quick and efficient, making this a good option when we wanted quality Chinese comfort food without a long wait. The casual setup and consistent menu made it easy to stop by for a quick meal, while the variety of dumplings and noodle dishes gave plenty of reasons to come back and try something different. The staff moved through orders with efficiency, and the food came out hot and well assembled. Overall, Nan Xiang Express delivers a dependable and satisfying experience for anyone craving Shanghai-style favorites in a more streamlined setting. read more

This Nian Xiang Express location has a knack for tantalizing your taste buds while leaving your comfort level a tad bewildered. The dining space, although not exactly a claustrophobe's nightmare, falls short in the design department. Uncomfortable seating arrangements and a rather puzzling choice of table placement make you wish the interior decorator had taken a few more dumpling breaks. The lack of thoughtful design isn't so much a tight squeeze as it is a series of awkward choices. Picture trying to enjoy your culinary masterpiece while contemplating the mysteries of life with a bathroom as your backdrop. It's like dining with a side of unintentional comedy, and it might not be everyone's idea of a delightful evening. In the grand tapestry of Nian Xiang Express, there's a clear divide between the culinary triumphs and the design mishaps. The soup dumplings shine as beacons of flavor, and it's hard to fault them for anything. However, the discomfort stemming from the design choices is an unfortunate blemish on an otherwise enchanting experience. If you're willing to overlook the design quirks for the sake of unparalleled soup dumplings, Nian Xiang Express is ready to welcome you with open arms. But if a cozy, comfortable dining atmosphere is a priority for you, you might want to consider opting for takeout and savoring those dumplings in the comfort of your own space. It's a tale of flavors and spaces, a blend of the delightful and the questionable, and ultimately, the decision is yours to make. read more

I've been hunting for good soup dumplings in Brooklyn, and Nan Xiang Express in Williamsburg is probably the closest I've gotten without trekking all the way to Flushing. The soup dumplings are the star here -- when they're fresh out of the steamer, the broth is flavorful and comforting, and the skin has just the right amount of chew. (Pro tip: eat them hot. They lose their magic if you let them sit.) I also loved the pan‑fried pork buns -- crispy bottoms, juicy inside, basically everything you want in a bun. The cucumber salad with garlic was refreshing and balanced out the richness of everything else. The space itself has this cozy backyard vibe that feels way more relaxed than most dumpling spots I've been to. It wasn't too crowded when I went, which made it an easy place to actually sit down and enjoy the food. Service is fast and friendly -- very "order at the counter but we'll take care of you" energy. read more

I visited Nan Xiang Express in Brooklyn and indulged in their famous soup dumplings. Now that they have a branch in Manhattan, I couldn't be more excited!
