We ordered a Gaeng Pa Gai; See-iew gai; and a Monsoon Valley(aka Thai Wine). The Gaeng Pa Gai is not spicy although my waitress said it is spicy. The chicken is tasteless. The sauce is too watery. The chicken in the See-Iew Gai is fresh and soft but it is not spicy and tastsless. The Monsoon Valley red wine is a Thailand wine. It was Just OK. We had the two course fixed menu option- wow was there a lot of food. We likely could have fed another 3-4 people with the quantity! My family stayed in a hotel about a quarter mile away, so this restaurant was really in a good location. On the walk there, we decided to take out, and from then on everything went downhill. We came in through the side entrance, which really was our fault, but they still didn't notice my mom and I after a while. They, when they did, they hurriedly directed us to the main entrance, which looked like the entrance of an alleyway. We looked at the menu, which was actually really nice, and ordered to the person waiting for us. Now, I don't know if they know this, but workers are supposed to be in uniform, so why wasn't this man in uniform? He was wearing pretty run down clothes, and usually I wouldn't judge, but this was a supposedly nice restaurant for heavens sake! In addition, he was rude and didn't exactly know the menu very well. Service really was horrible! We ordered Poh Pia Pak, Thai Dumplings, Tom-Kha-Talay, Gaeng Ped Yang, Senjan Pai Thai Goong, and two orders of rice; we took the food back to our hotel, and were astounded. The portions were so small! Maybe that was just because of takeout, but I was not satisfied at all. The Poh Pia Pak was the best part of the meal. In case you couldn't tell by the name (haha), they're basically vegetarian sprint rolls. They came in a serving of six, and were three inches long. Thai Dumplings were a bit of a disappoint. They were basically six Chinese shumai next to a rich soy sauce. Without the sauce, they were an epic failure, but with the sauce, it was okay. Tom-Kha-Delay was a soup that came with a bundle of seafood. Now, I didn't order this, nor did I even attempt to eat it, but the 'rents said that it was really good. The seafood inside came with shrimp, mussels, scallops, etc. Gaeng Ped Yang is lamb and potatoes in a curry sauce- keep in mind, IT DOESN'T COME WITH RICE. The lamb and potatoes itself were great. The sauce, however, had to grow on me. At first, the sauce tasted really sweet, but after being starved and excessively eating it, it ended up being edible. Senjan Pai Thai Goong was the last thing we ordered. It consisted of noodles that looked like baby eels, an assortment of vegetables, and nuts that looked like scrambled eggs. After taking a bite or two, I have the bowl to my mom, because I really just didn't like it at all. That's just personal preference! Overall, food was okay, but service was horrible. Dear all, I write with a heavy heart. My experiences at Nakhon Thai went from great to worrying, to severely disturbing. I wish to mention however that the staff were very polite. Unfortunately, the pad thai I ate there left me with extreme stomach cramps for the whole night, while I remained within the confinements of my 3x3m2 toilet for hours. I truly was in pain, and my heart was filled with sadness, as I had been deceived once again. I tested the Pad Thai once more, to see if it was a one off, and I ended up having explosive d********ea. Nakhon Thai is my literal local, being 50 meters from where I live. Having said that I've only been two or three times as to be honest, it's pretty lazy to eat out within site of your front-door :) The Restaurant itself is a pretty little thing that is situated facing the Royal Victoria Dock. There are two floors, the bottom floor being for larger groups usually and the smaller top floor being for couples usually. Upstairs it is candles and decoration and a great view over the deep blue water of the dock and the 'Beach' that gives the nearby Apartment building Western Beach its' name. There is a conference centre behind the Restaurant which appears to be quite popular although obviously in the evening it's empty. Parking is free and close by and an after dinner walk around the Dock using the Excel Centre footbridge is really romantic, (and well-lit / generally safe). The food at Nakhon is pretty good although it is a touch on the expensive side for the location, (in the middle of nowhere?). Service is quick and polite and the drinks menu is fine, if a little unadventerous. For dinner, it's very good as a 'date' place and on Sunday they serve 'brunch' which is quite cheap, (see the website link above) and pretty filling. If you're going to Excel, or just fancy a walk here, or at the nearby Barrier Point Park then this might be a winner. Thai does come better in London, probably much better, but the location, service and atmosphere of upstairs is really great. So overpriced and overrated. Drinks were okay, we got a piña colada and my boyfriend got a zombie, both were decent. Get this, the pad Thai was bland. For a Thai restaurant I was expecting a much better chicken pad Thai. The beef dish we had was good, can't remember the name now. Took my mum here on a Sunday. It was lovely and quitr and we got a seat in the window. I had a banana smoothy which was yum. Can't really rememebr what we are but I wasn't disappointed ( like some of the reviews read). It was decent standard food. The staff were lovely and attentive. This is a review based on UberEats delivery. Nakhong Thai is one of few Oriental restaurants that the delivery services in the Canary Wharf area will deliver from. After looking at the menu, I decided to order the calamari and pineapple fried rice. Calamari: Decent, but soggy by the time it arrived at my flat. Pineapple Fried Rice: The worst I have ever had. It's bland, the pineapple is not sweet, the chicken tasted old/fishy and the rice is too wet/mushy. I definitely will not be ordering from this establishment again. read more

The rest of the dish was bland. However, my partner really liked her green curry dish, so it may be a bit hit and miss. This could be a great neighborhood restaurant. Open hours at Yelp are wrong, on Sunday they close at 10 pm. We arrived at 9 pm and the hostess looked at his watch hesitating if he should let us in. We sat in a beautiful table, live music in a classy ambiance, but right away a waiter came and told us to order in a hurry because they were about to close (this is at 9:04). We ordered two soups (7.90 each), a beef entree and a side rice. After 20 minutes all the food were served at the same time, when we finished the soups the beef entree was already cold. Portions are small. Food is ok. Wine prices are great. Check came right away (9:30 pm) and three waiters keep staring at us while we try to gulp the rest of the wine. read more

I came here with a group of colleagues as it is near the hotel we were staying in. We ordered the four course set menu. The quality of the food was good however the portions were so small we were all left hungry! We expected more as we had spent over £30 per head not including drinks. The service was a little slow but friendly. There was a singer/guitarist who we found made it difficult to have a conversation but he wasn't bad. With that in mind, I was going to recommend that this was a great place to just get a drink and sit outside, but you are directly under the flight path for London City Airport :P The restaurant only had 1 other couple in there when we entered and the waitress decided to put us on a small table by the window... would have been nice if they let us have one of the larger tables since it was pretty much empty... Phad thai was soggy, the vegetables were way too spicy (in fact we overheard the table behind us complain about how hot their dish was too before they left...) and the tofu side was OK. We also ordered a papaya salad and it was OK, but the portion size was VERY MEAN for 9 pounds... imagine a garden side salad at Pizza Express. Mixed service. There were 4 waitresses and we could hear a cackling kitchen crew. The 2 waitresses in purple uniform really struggled to crack a smile or show any enthusiasm. There was a waitress who was not in uniform (probably the hostess) who was not particularly great either... e.g. she asked us if everything was OK and had walked away before she had even heard what we had to say... lastly, there was one last waitress with a blue uniform and she was cool - polite and happier! Won't be back unless I have OD'd on lithium and need a downer. Shame really, like James I really wanted to like this place as it is so close to where I live. read more

I love going to this thai restaurant, it is down a funny street, and there is not much parking there. But once you walk inside it is like you are in Thailand! There are lovely views from the restaurant of the river. The food there is so fresh and I have never had a bad meal there. When work has a function we often use this restaurant. The staff there are very friendly and helpful. They have a good value lunch menu there which is roughly £7.95 for a 2 course lunch, there is some varied options for you to eat. read more
