Nakhon Thai is my literal local, being 50 meters from where I live. Having said that I've only been two or three times as to be honest, it's pretty lazy to eat out within site of your front-door :) The Restaurant itself is a pretty little thing that is situated facing the Royal Victoria Dock. There are two floors, the bottom floor being for larger groups usually and the smaller top floor being for couples usually. Upstairs it is candles and decoration and a great view over the deep blue water of the dock and the 'Beach' that gives the nearby Apartment building Western Beach its' name. There is a conference centre behind the Restaurant which appears to be quite popular although obviously in the evening it's empty. Parking is free and close by and an after dinner walk around the Dock using the Excel Centre footbridge is really romantic, (and well-lit / generally safe). The food at Nakhon is pretty good although it is a touch on the expensive side for the location, (in the middle of nowhere?). Service is quick and polite and the drinks menu is fine, if a little unadventerous. For dinner, it's very good as a 'date' place and on Sunday they serve 'brunch' which is quite cheap, (see the website link above) and pretty filling. If you're going to Excel, or just fancy a walk here, or at the nearby Barrier Point Park then this might be a winner. Thai does come better in London, probably much better, but the location, service and atmosphere of upstairs is really great. So go on, have a go :) If there was a 3.5 rating that's the true score :)

Very good Thai menu. Looked promising, food could have been just a little touch better, but the Team is very friendly, supportive and the atmosphere is chilling. So if you're around dock lands and you like Thai food, n'joy. It's worth and the cocktails are worth a try!

This could be a great neighborhood restaurant. Open hours at Yelp are wrong, on Sunday they close at 10 pm. We arrived at 9 pm and the hostess looked at his watch hesitating if he should let us in. We sat in a beautiful table, live music in a classy ambiance, but right away a waiter came and told us to order in a hurry because they were about to close (this is at 9:04). We ordered two soups (7.90 each), a beef entree and a side rice. After 20 minutes all the food were served at the same time, when we finished the soups the beef entree was already cold. Portions are small. Food is ok. Wine prices are great. Check came right away (9:30 pm) and three waiters keep staring at us while we try to gulp the rest of the wine.

Might be on the expensive side for the quantity provided for something every so often, but great for special occasions.

I feel like an absolute fucking bellend tbh, spending all my time in fucking yumyums (which has the world's stupidest name and is only fun coz they have those tables that sink into the floor but half the time they don't let you sit in them anyway) when this absolute solid gold TREASURE is one minute round the corner. Anyway, the window seat is right next to some cute fairy lights and flowers and shit. As per usual I embarrassed my dining partner - 2015 Elite Yelper, Luke Y - by announcing that if this was a tinder date he would definitely be getting laid. BE WARNED THOUGH - romantic as it is, that table is draughty as fuck whenever anyone goes out for a cigarette. The food is the most authentic Thai I've had outside of actual Thailand. We ordered like the fat fucks that we are, and had fish cakes, chicken satay, squid and some kind of stir fried pork. I also rate their masaman curry and kanom jeeb dumplings more highly than I can express in words, and their homemade ice creams are fleek af too plus they do cool flavours like coconut and pandan. Your whole experience here is going to be heightened immeasurably by the cuteness of the tiny Thai grandma that serves the food. I just want to kiss her all over her jolly little face. She brings you these little spearmint chewy sweets with your bill that instantly take on the exact texture of pre-chewed chewing gum when you eat them. Maybe they are chewing gum? Either way, I swallow, but that's enough about my personal life LOL. All in all, it's an A+ experience every time. Big up Thai Cafe, I love you.

I had their spicy ground beef larb with coconut rice and was impressed, it WAS spicy and hot. Most Thai places play down the spice factor but they sure don't here. It doesn't look like much from the outside and I was here on a Saturday night and the place was empty. Nonetheless the girl here was really friendly the food was perfectly fine and the prices are beyond reasonable. I love finding places off the tourist radar.

I LOVE Thai food and when I saw a 4.5* spot just round the corner called Thailand, it just had to be investigated! We arrived and straight away noticed the great offer of a 3 course meal and a glass of wine for just £12.95 served throughout the week. Impressive! We were feeling flush and decided to choose off the a la carte menu but I'd definitely return to give the offer a whirl. We chose to share the mixed starter, and the crispy duck and pancakes to start, and then chicken penang, prawn pad thai and sticky rice for mains. Service throughout was polite and well timed, our waitress was in fact the owners daughter and shared some stories about her father and the two restaurants they own. She was wonderful! Now to the food - the mixed starter was a bit of a disappointment, there was just way too much deep fried vegetables rather than the good quality products like chicken satay and prawn toast. We actually had to leave the majority which was a shame. Now to the duck... NOM. Perfectly cooked and crispy, plenty of pancakes to share, plum sauce think a flavoursome and when put together with cucumber and spring onion, just perfection! Now to the best part - their Thai food is authentic, packed with a punch and truly delicious! The pad Thai had lots of large and juicy king prawns, the Penang was in a thick and creamy sauce - the best I'd ever had! All I will say is we would have like a little more veg (in both dishes) but this didn't take away from flavours of food, really great quality food! We really did enjoy the evening and we'll definitely be back for another girlie night soon! Highly recommended if in the area and a lover of Thai!

Most of them look very unhappy. Even a comedian couldn't put a smile on their face. We end up ordering the Pad Thai, the red chicken curry, lamb curry and coconut rice. The size of the dishes were smaller than expected but were all very flavorful. I was satisfied with the taste of the dishes however I was not satisfy with the charge of the 2 bottle of still waters. Each bottle cost 4.20 and rice cost 3.75. The total for two was 8.20. The cost of one bottle of still cost more than a serving of rice. There's potential in this restaurant. If they can cheer up, be more efficient and warn the customers about water charges they can potential be around 4 stars. At the meantime they're around a 3.

The reason why I had to give it lower stars was because of the service. We kept having to ask staff…read moremultiple times for the same things (like water, bowls, hot sauce, etc). I ordered a soup as appetizer and they forgot about it. It basically came out after we finished all of our entrees. Food was not bad but I've had better. We just ended up at this spot because it was close by and we were lazy to take the train elsewhere. Wouldn't come back if I had a choice.
