The worst Thai anywhere in the world - they don't even have typical Thai table side condiments, compounded by servers not knowing Thai cuisine nor their chef capabilities. Mostly fried appetizer options - loaded with batter and meat drops (prawn or crab) - Main course we ordered, beef basil, green curry w/ chicken, lobster basil ...they had precooked. Boiled chicken, their beef was spongy and no flavor. We got there on an empty at 8pm, and thought no matter how bad ...but due to hunger we will love it ....total opposite - worst, and if you need better Thai options in london ..pls message and I will guide you. read more

The food was AMAZING I ordered the Shrimp fried rice the flavor was so good and it came out steaming hot and the mango sorbet is to die for it tasted like a mango lassi but frozen and better. The wait staff were so nice and they gave us hot towels after the meal. It was fancy but friendly and it was pretty quiet so you can talk easily. read more

We didn't have a reservation, our fault, was sat outside in the bar section. The bar served our drinks, waited and waited for someone to take our order, asked the bar staff to ask when they will come, a waitress came out and said she will be right with us. Sine I stay the hotel, why not check out this highly rated restaurant. Part of me is Thai, so thai food is my top favoured food. The service was excellent, flawless. You fell nice welcome and every detail of the service. It matches the hotel level service - 5 out of 5. So I ordered steamed rice wrap to start, Massaman curry as main. The streamed rice wrap came with lettuce, suppose to balance the richness of the rice wrap, but the combination is really odd when you put them together. The flavour and texture just do not match, and far away from each other. Rice wrap by itself is not too bad, but a bit sweet. So 3 out 5. The Massaman curry is disappointing, the curry is too thin, could thicken a bit before serve, the cut of the chicken and potato are too big, not the bite size, with the thin curry, after you cut it, since they are not exposed to the curry long enough, taste is not rich. Some piece of the chicken was over cooked, too chewy and dry. The size of the potato was not consistent, some were whole, some were half cut. You can't really smell the aroma of Cardamom, Clove or lemongrass. Again it was too sweet to taste other flavours. Overall , 1 out of 5. Maybe the real chef is on vacation today? Starving from a group tour in London, my family and I wanted to eat somewhere close to our hotel. This restaurant is on the first floor of the Royal Lancaster Hotel. We didn't make any reservations so we waited for 20-25 minutes. They didn't have any tables ready so they let us order in the waiting area. Our server was the sweetest man. He really catered to us. Unfortunately we realized he didn't give us his name! When a table was ready, they let us sit inside. Our meal started with a palette cleanser..and it was waaay too strong for me. It was a little piece of lettuce with ginger and coconuts..too much ginger for me. We ordered Tom Yum soup..very spicy and not enough coconut milk. Because of all the reviews of the green curry, we ordered that. Again, it was spicier than usual but it was good. We also ordered their pad Thai; tasty, and their sea bass; delicious! My favorite dish of the night. Our waiter also gave us dessert for the long wait. Overall, this place has probably the spiciest Thai food I've ever eaten haha and the portions were small, and very pricey. Service was excellent and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. read more

Stand out meal of the week during my week in the UK. Atmosphere very nice, service was gracious & attentive, and the food quality was outstanding. A little pricey, but in line with its location in Bayswater in the Royal Lancaster Hotel. Highly recommend for a special occasion or just a nice evening out. Can't wait to go back. read more

Elegant dining with spoonful of surprise. I enjoyed sitting by winter overlooking the Italian garden of Hyde Park. Starting with shrimp crackers, Thai fishcake(amazing, do recommend), satay chicken, spring rolls, good sour savory balanced soup, then following with three entrees. Wine pairing is a nice touch but I think they can further enhance the pairing. Great service. Paddington area has limited decent restaurant choice so this would be a go-to place in a rainy day. read more

The first time I went here I really liked the Kai Har Bai Toey which is basically marinated chicken wrapped in these large green leaves (pandanus leaves). I ordered this with coconut rice and it was enough for a whole meal. On my second visit we splashed out and ordered the set menu at 30.00 per person which includes a selection of starters, main courses and a dessert, tea or coffee. Everything was delicious! Staff was really nice and service was excellent. This is a pricey restaurant but is one I highly recommend! read more

To my fellow Americans scouring Yelp for good Thai in London, look no further. This place is one of the top 10 Thai spots in the city, and for good reason. I used Deliveroo to have the fried veggie spring rolls and the panang curry brought to my hotel the day I arrived (and was considerably jet-lagged). The spring rolls were nothing special, but that panang was so delicious. Flavorful, spicy, and generously portioned, with tender beef and just the right amount of creaminess. My mistake was forgetting to add rice to my order to sop up all the delicious sauce; a bit disappointed that not even white rice comes with it. So learn from my error and don't forget the rice! read more

Food was good but service was lacking. My coworker and I visited this restaurant during "early bird" hours but did not receive the early bird menu while other restaurant patrons did. I'm a little upset that it wasn't offered so we ended up paying twice as much as we needed to. The hostess wasn't friendly when we arrived and seemed like she didn't want to be bothered. The hostess also waited on us and could have been more attentive. Overall the food was good but I wouldn't return due to the service. read more

Outstanding Thai food, we are very lucky to have stayed at the Lancaster London hotel. The food was surprisingly excellent and very authentic. The hostess Noy was very gracious and hospitable and was more than patient and very helpful in making recommendations for all of our family members. The service was perfect~ they were right there ready to serve without you feeling interrupted while having a private conversation. As I write this review I may actually burst I have so thoroughly stuffed myself. After four years of not much better than Busaba (which isn't terrible, I guess), Nipa was a real treat. On the first floor of the Lancaster hotel (a 60's block ish building), the restaurant immediately transports you to Thailand. Well, more like a restaurant in a hotel in Thailand really. But a fun transition in central London nonetheless. The reason I over-ate is that each dish had such a unique flavour from the rest I couldn't resist. The steamed chicken wraps were heavenly, the corn fritters plump and juicy and crisp. Pad Thai at it's best: sweet, salty and tangy in just the right amounts. Asparagus with bean curd balanced the crunchiness of the greens with exploding pillows of crispy bean curd soaked with a delicate sauce. I was very happy to see the chef as I left. A very nice older Thai lady. read more

If I could give it a lower rating I would. The service was slow and the food overpriced. They did not ask if we wanted tap water so we paid for still water, they charged us for an extra desert because they brought the wrong one at first, and the dinner took a good two hours and fifteen minutes! Go somewhere else, do not be fooled by the reviews, your local greasy spoon Thai restaurant is way better, with better service, and it will take you 20 minutes instead of over two hours. read more

I discovered the advertising for Nipa in the lift of the Royal Lancaster Hotel. Nipa is in the same building. They quote a very favourable review in Time Out, which I can confirm. The dishes are not too ambitious and very tasty. I had the Thai Satay for Starter which was exceptional despite being a very standard dish. The Red Curry - marked with two Chili leaves in the menu as medium hot - was exactly that: medium hot but also full of flavour. All the staff that I encountered - and there were many for such a small place - where extremely friendly and helpful. 5 Stars. read more

Really, who doesn't like Thai food? It's tangy. It's sweet. It's just the right amount of exotic and leaves you feeling full and wonderful. After a long day of flying and not enough to eat, we were grumpy and starving. We made our way down to Nipa Thai Restaurant and gorged on as much food as our little hearts desired. We started with a delicious appetizer and moved onto the next course which was the perfect meal to forget about that terrible jet lag. I ordered the Kai Phad Med Ma Muang Him Ma Parn which is a tongue twister to pronounce, but worth the embarrassment once they bring it to your table. It's basically stir fried chicken with cashew nuts that is full of sweet and savory goodness. At the end of the meal, we were served a delectable dessert which was basically a medley of fruit cake slash carrot cake. It was a nice little surprise and ended the evening off just right. I've eaten at many restaurants around the world with many different people, and have noted a certain reluctance of people to eat in hotel restaurants. Maybe it's because of the high prices associated with everything in a hotel, but it seems a shame as some of the capitals best restaurants can be found just off the lobby. Particularly two of the best Thais in London - Nahm (at The Halkin) and Nipa. While I can't really comment on the price - I ate on corporate hospitality (go business!) - from what I can remember the prices were fairly good value. The dining room was just lovely, with ornate carving and flowers everywhere - definitely a relaxing, tranquil environment for a meal. And with Hyde Park over the road, it is the perfect place to have a stroll afterward. The food was very flavoursome, as one would no doubt expect from Thai. I particularly remember the soft-shell crab starter - a take on the Singapore Chilli Crab but with plum sauce that was delicious read more

At first I didn't no what to expect, but was humbly blown away! Nipa has excellent service, fresh and tasteful ingredients, and is an outstanding restaurant to bring a colleague or a date. I would highly recommend. After the meal, they surprise you with a refreshing warm hand towel on a bamboo platter, doesn't get much better than that. My family and I had a fantastic dinner at Nipa over Christmas. We got one of the tasting menus and every single course was absolutely delicious. The service and employees were both top notch. The highlights for us included the Tom Yum Koong (spicy lemongrass broth with prawns, mushrooms), Green Curry, and the Pad Thai. Yahyah finally find a solid good thai restaurant in London!!!! Really happy. Although it is not as good as what you can get in Thailand for sure, it is amazing in terms of the balance between its spiciness and sourness. I tried quite a lot of dishes, and I think you would never go wrong with any order. the atmosphere is also quit nice, and it is busy during dinner time. Making a reservation ahead of time would be better. The only sad thing is that they don't offer stir fried morning glory (which is my favourite vegetable dish, and I though that all Thai restaurants have it as a nice and classic vegetable stir fries...IDK) read more

I went there a few days a go with a few of my colleagues and had a marvelous time. The food presentation is beautiful, the service friendly, efficient, professional and personal. The atmosphere outstanding especially if you like myself get to eat out a lot largely due to the nature of the job. The price was not that much more expensive then my local Thai restaurant. The main courses from which there were many to choose from came at an affordable and reasonable price around £10-15. Some were less and starters were around £5-8. Good wine for less than £20. Give it ago although it's inside the hotel it's a nice place if you want to eat in warmth and comfort with good spaced seating then this is the place to be. I really don't know why more people eat in hotels more generally- their service is always superb and many have more than restaurant to choose from. I am sure there are a lot of hidden gems that we are missing out on. read more

Nipa great view windows onto the park,international customers,average food and service...

For the past 4 years or so, I've had a deal with a close friend of mine. On my birthday, she takes me to a steak place and on hers I take her to Nipa. It never, ever fails to impress me. Starting from an easy booking to a courteous, warm Thai welcome to the restaurant followed by a floor to ceiling window which most tables look out to - everything is fantastic. Dining at Nipa does come with a steep price but I can safely say that it's so so so worth it. As for some recommended dishes - the tom yum soup (ask for it to come with their king prawns!), the vegetable spring rolls (go to the back of the menu to see the vegetarian starters), the chicken green curry, the lamb/duck massaman curry, and of course, the good old phad Thai! Also, every night, the Nipa chef team serves a complimentary started which is changed every night. It's a fantastic place. If you decide to go, can I come? read more

We were wanting to order tea and dessert but server would not come back to table. I wondered if she did not like Americans because they fell all over several other tables in close proximity.
