Recommended by our hotel not far from it so we decided to give it a go. They were listed on TheFork, which had a special two course pre-theater dinner which was also supposed to be good today when I got there the manager wasn't too happy about it, he did allowing me to use it, with an attitude funny thing is I never did use it because I didn't like what was on it. The food was good. The waitress was very nice, I had the pad Thai with tofu and the eggroll vegetarian. We also had the appetizers for two we had the chicken soup we had some duck and we had some curry chicken. I had the duck in the tamarind sauce. It was pretty good. That was kind of surprised with all the reviews raving about it, though. The duck itself was a little bit chewy and definitely not fall off the bone. Way too much tamarind sauce. very very tangy and sweet. Lori had the red curry and ask them to make it extra spicy. It wasn't and the flavoring wasn't that great. We did have the scallop appetizer which was excellent probably the best part of the meal. The sticky rice is very sticky. The jasmine rice is pretty good. I had a traditional gin martini, which was quite good. Lori had the cosmopolitan which was not too, sweet. The large pours on the wine are very large, but it didn't come out until our meal was almost over. It's pricey, but not terrible from New York standards. Glad we tried it out but not sure it's worth a repeat. The service was OK, but I can understand how some people would have an issue with them being a bit Curt. They advertise a lot about being one of the top 100 restaurants in the world. I'm not sure where they get that rating from.... This is our second Thai spot we have tried on our trip to London. This one was even better. We stopped on our walk to shop and I'm so glad we did. Thai Square sits right off Trafalgar Square and offers a huge dining space (with big table setups for a large group) and tasty Thai cuisine. We came with a big work event and sampled lots of the menu. The mixed starters were just so-so, though everyone enjoyed the shumai. For mains and sides, the green curry was delicious, and the chili lamb and crispy fish were tasty, too. For dessert, the mango sticky rice is a classic -- they put pandan in theirs for a subtly complex flavor. Overall a fun meal out! read more

We stopped in for lunch on our way to Picadilly Circus because this place had a sign out front with delicious looking and relatively inexpensive lunch options. Once inside, those delicious looking, reasonably priced options out front were no-where to be found on the menu. I had to walk back to the entrance to ask for the "special" lunch menu after seeing a waiter returning it to a drawer from another table that had been perusing it. I had to do that because literally everyone on staff managed to avoid making eye contact while I tried to flag someone down to ask for it. Same problem whenever we needed water, when were prepared to order, and once the food was deposited at the table we never saw our waiter again. Finally, in frustration I went and tracked them down for more water and yes. even the check. Whether Intentional or not, I was plenty put out by the time we left. The food? Not bad, nothing special. The service? Terrible, never have I ever seen such poor service. I'm done. I get it, not to worry, I'll never visit again. read more

We also ordered the green Curry vegaterian dish also extremely Delish and a large portion Coconut rice which was good but a high price for size of serving at 3.50£ Bathrooms were awful, not clean, extra supplies laid out, I had to go open my own pack of tissue. It is located right by Trafalgar Square and not many restaurant have a view across iconic landmarks but this one does. Here are my other thoughts: - Decor 4 stars: Nice white linen setting with high ceilings. There's an upstairs dining area - but choose something next to the window if you can to watch the crowds go by. During dinner a woman was in the main dining room playing thai music. - Service 4 stars : Very good - prompt, friendly . - Menu 4+ stars: Extensive menu for both those that like spicy and non-spicy, familiar to less familiar - so good for everyone. Typical starters - tempura, Satay,, curries, soups, veggie menu etc. Nice "Family or Date" 2-3 course menu options available for 2+ people. Like most places they charge extra for rice --- which I skipped.Good wine list. My Meal 3-4 Stars: I had the Tom Yum Goong Soup with Shrimp, and a House Special Prawn and Scallops with garlic, sweet peas and baby corn. On the plus side: terrific high-quality and well cooked ingredients: great big prawns, perfectly cooked scallops/prawns in both dishes, pea pods, baby corn, shitake mushrooms in the soup.Flavor wasn't as good as I hoped on the prawn/scallop dish ( for some reason there's no soy, hot chili sauce, pepper - or well, anything- to amp it up on your own.). Both had a lot of oil in them that overwhelmed the freshness of those great ingredients. BOTTOM LINE: So, it's a nice place, in a good location serving fresh quality ingredient dishes with authentic flavors. Probably, a really great place for a date. But, while independently I'd give everything 4-stars - I've given it an A-OK 3 star rating. We were walking towards the 'Her Majesty's Theater when we cam across this restaurant, it was lunch time anyway so we decided to come in and checkout the restaurant. The place seems empty as most people are shopping at the oxford circus crossing since it's Boxing Day here in London kind like Black Friday in US. The servers are really nice and hospitable, spoke to a young man one of the staff and he had given us more info about the area, specially the close by 'China Town' the food we had was fabulous and us we start eating, people of great number start pouring and filling the whole place. The place was beautifully decorated with Thai influences in a elegant and modern style. Christmas decorations were installed with taste. Speaking of taste, the food was excellent. It was Sunday evening and time for dinner just didn't know what we were in the mood for, so I whipped out my handy Yelp App to look at some choices and after looking over the menu we settled on Thai Square and was even able to make a reservation through my Yelp App, pretty sweet I say. Made our way to Thai Square, I told the host we had reservations, she looked at her book and didn't see any, but another lady went to the back and came out and addressed me by name, I thought that was a nice touch and we were shown to our seats. I have to say, Thai Square is very nice, felt swanky, hence the reason for no food pics, just felt like I shouldn't haha. I started with Chicken Satay, it's the peanut sauce that I really crave and well I wanted to see if it's just as good in London as it is in Phoenix and yep it's amazing! The chicken had great flavor, it is sort of sad to cover it with the peanut sauce for it could stand on its own, but omg I love the peanut sauce and since I can't just eat with a spoon its best it goes on the chicken. For my drink I ordered the Thai Tea, it was perfectly blended and tasted great! For the main dish, I went with the Panang Beef Thai Hot (been told food in London is bland so I was thinking Thai Hot really wasn't going to be hot on my heat scale) . This was prime beef that had been slow cooked in coconut cream and Panang curry paste and it was garnished with lime leaves, I also ordered a side of coconut rice. When the meal came out it looked amazing, the server placed the food on the table then served me, that's right, she placed curry on my plate followed by some rice, felt kind of spoiled. The Panang Beef was amazing, the flavors the texture, oh so good! And going Thai Hot was perfect for me. That was a great curry dish. Now I'll have to find it here in Phoenix or cook it myself. Presentation is wonderful. Soft lighting, everything looks great definitely. Nicely dressed waitresses and all that good stuff. I had the Drunken Duck, which was actually pretty good. Lots of flavor in the food. The egg fried rice couldve been more fried and more eggy though seriously. It was like they chopped up an egg and threw it in some steamed rice so I wasn't too happy with that. The person I was with got some noodles with giant shrimp in them and I thought it was really good. Don't like how they automatically add gratuity - you would normally get more if you didn't force people to pay it. Good place to stop for lunch or dinner definitely. We're in London, so what the hell, go to a Thai restaurant! The inside is really beautiful and tastefully decorated. My wife kept mentioning the beautiful orchids that were arranged beautifully. Actually, this is probably the first time in my life that I actually cared how flowers looked. The appetizer, some kind of fried duck, was great! Both of our main entrees were also very good. Mine was duck with tamarind sauce and I won the contest of who gets the best dish. My wife had the lamb with coconut sauce and in my opinion was bland. This Thai restaurant was playing Brazilian music... I know that Brazilian music is awesome and great to set the mood, but come on, give me some saucy Thai music. I'm staring to figure out this whole eating in London thing. The waiter/waitress only comes over after you have already looked at your menu and closed it. Otherwise, they don't seem to come over. This place looks really nice and the prices are not at all that expensive if you are on the British Pound instead of the measly dollar. It is right by Trafalgar Square which is great because it is between my hotel and the theaters, so I decided to grab a bite to eat before my show. I have had Thai food in a number of different countries so I decided to go all out and get a big spread because this place was so packed on a Monday night. The prawn dumpling was full of prawn flavor but it seemed unoriginal or not inspired because the dumpling was served with what tasted like canned or bottled sauce. The green curry was average, no real explosion of flavors I would expect from a good curry and I had it with the coconut rice which was a waste of money because there was no discernible tasted different between that and regular steam rice. I said I was going to order me a spread so I decided to splurge on a coconut sundae. The presentation was very nice, but the flavors were eradicate going from semi-sweet to dull, only thing that saved this from been left on the table was the texture which was felt original. I would skip this if looking for good Thai food in London, there are definitely better places in London. Actually I think I have had better when I was in Berlin. read more

This is really a great restaurant. Its not particularly cheap, but its a premium restaurant in the centre of London, near one of the capital's most well known landmarks, Trafalgar Square. I can't recommend one particular meal here. There are so many good dishes. The staff are extremely friendly and can help you decide. Inside, its fairly sophisticated, the sort of place you could take out your partner, conduct a business meeting or go for a family meet up. Downstairs, there is a club linked to the restaurant, and its also quite sophisticated. I haven't been in it on the weekends so I don't know how busy it is, but overall, if you want a good evening in one place, which is guaranteed to be top class, or combine it with nearby galleries, I would say Thai Square ticks all the boxes.
