Restaurant is hidden down the alley. Nice decor, friendly attentive staff. Went on a Tuesday night and wasn't busy at all, seated right away. The portions aren't the biggest for the cost (we paid about 55 pounds for 4 people). Rice comes separate for all dishes (pay 2.50 pounds per bowl) although the bowl is a relatively good portion. Would highly recommend the fried rice (very filling and very tasty) and also the Thai ice tea with milk. The Tom kha was okay, the coconut and sweetness were more overpowering than what I'm used to. Very nice spot. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, clean, washroom very cool. We had a nice lunch here. The cooked spring rolls were very nice. Edamame were tasty like sweet and sour sauce. The chicken coconut soup was delicious, not thick but really good. We had Basil chicken and it was very tasty, the Massaman curry was very good. Really nice food and affordable. What a delicious delivery that arrived at my door! With a large menu I wasn't quite sure what to order but happy with my choices. I enjoyed the spicy fried calamari as they were big chunks of meat with chilies and flavor. Not big heat just a nice crunch. I ended up dipping them in my red curry as that held strong notes. The duck curry was very well balanced with loads of veggies and pineapple chunks. The duck was sliced and cooked perfectly. It paired nicely with the coconut rice. The finishing touch was the tasty Thai iced tea or what they call Milky Way drink. Absolutely delicious! read more

Our group had a horrible experience here. The staff were very rude to us and pretended to not speak English twice when we asked a question. Three of the dishes were tasty. One was lacking flavor. The fifth was so hot, it made her sick. She loves hot peppers, so this was HIGHLY unusual. The staff didn't care. We had to beg for water. She took several hours to recover. It doesn't matter if the food is good. When the staff doesn't care, you shouldn't either. Go at your own risk. read more

After eating dinner from 1630-1800 on a Sunday, here's my takeaway... This Thai restaurant is a lovely, calming, quiet little gem in a fairly busy area of London (close to a hospital and touristy destinations). For food, we ordered the red curry with chicken, pad Thai with chicken, some shrimp dish I can't remember the name of, a "lemonade" (which was really Sprite!), Thai iced tea, and some lemon and coconut ice cream. The lemon was more of a sorbet and the coconut was a sweet, creamy ice cream. All of it was yummy! The red curry wasn't as spicy as I anticipated, but the flavors of each dish were classic and spot on. If I lived in London, this would definitely be a regular spot for me. The location and interior couldn't have been more perfect. Easy to get to, no loud/crowded dining room, lighting was peaceful (not over bearing or too dark) and the staff were very friendly. What more could you ask for in a restaurant location? Some other notes to help you make a decision: - They have a small drink menu, but do have some wines. - Bathrooms were exceptionally clean and well decorated. - The total bill was about 45 pounds for two drinks, three entrees, two bowls of rice, and two desserts. - It cost about 5 pounds to get here in a taxi from the Albert and Victoria museum and only took a few minutes. Probably a 20min walk. - Conveniently, there was a power outlet right next to our table where I could charge my cell phone! Overall I highly recommend this place for it's well portioned food and a place to relax after a long day of touring or working. This would make a great date-night spot! This used to be my favorite Thai place when I layover in London until yesterday evening. I ordered my usual, Kang Panang Curry with chicken. I couldn't finish it and asked if they could pack it to go. They packed the sticky rice and sauce and threw away the chicken...which I didn't find out until I got home to reheat my meal. They just lost my business, which is disappointing. read more

Small, and lovely restaurant off a busy street in Earl's Court. Stopped-in when we were hungry and walked by. Ordered Pad See-Ew, Tom Ka Gai (small), and a side of egg fried rice, with one tea. Bill was £22.50, which wasn't bad and was enough for two. I haven't really had much Thai in London so I'm not equipped to judge prices. But converting to USD, the tea was expensive (altho they gave you several cups in a small ewer), the pad see-ew was excellently priced, the soup (small) was way over-priced, and the egg fried rice was also slightly over-priced. For all of that the food was great. The pad see-ew was mixed meat (although they could not remove the pork, which I'm not sure about) and the server had no problem adding tofu for me for a slight up-charge. The tom ka gai was excellent since I was feeling a bit under the weather, the egg fried rice didn't skimp on the egg or diced veggies, and they were willing to give me some incredibly hot fresh chili peppers to go with the pad see-ew. In all if I could give another half star for the food I would. Which is mostly what one wants in a restaurant I suppose. I really enjoyed the service as well, it started a bit slow because every table was full when we walked in. But once the food was ordered it was less than 5 minutes til it plated. That's amazing! It was also a bit challenging to order the chili peppers and we were only checked on when we had mostly finished our meal. But I don't think the service was indifferent merely busy. I don't mind that, as I consider it good that the place I'm dining in is well thought off. Would have no problems going again and neither would my picky dinner companion. read more

Every time I go to a new Thai place, I usually order the Pad Thai. It's just the way I gauge Thai restaurants against one another. I walked into the cozy little courtyard of Siam Garden early in the evening and the place was empty. However, there were a few plates of food sitting on one table and I could tell it was not a buffet. I called out a couple times and the waitress eventually showed up, looking a little unsure of what to do with me. I thought maybe I'd walked in before opening hours, but the sign said Open and she told me to go ahead and take a seat at the front table which had a 'reserved' card on it. Heh. I must be hot stuff. A gentleman came out from the kitchen, talked to the waitress, then walked behind the bar. He smiled warmly at me. So I ordered my Pad Thai, which came out very quickly. Then everyone else in the kitchen came out too and sat down at the table with food on it. Ah, a family meal! I felt a little bad at first, but hey, it's opening hours and I'm a paying customer. So i focused on enjoying my Pad Thai, and enjoy it I did. Despite the lack of lime and crushed peanuts, the meal was actually one of the better Pad Thais I've ever had. And even though I was probably the first customer in for the evening and alone (which sometimes makes me feel awkward), I felt relaxed in Siam Garden. In fact, I almost felt like I wasn't even in London anymore. It was a nice break. As soon as I finished, the waitress got up from her table, came over and cleared my table. She was quiet but friendly. After I paid my bill and started to walk out, I was given a "thank you" from one of the cooks. I said "thank you" back to her. One thing about me is that I rarely go to the same place twice, this one was so amazing I was drawn back in again. We managed to discover it in Hogarth Pl, a street close to London's Earl's Court underground station. It would have been easy to miss, hadn't we been looking for a thai restaurant close to our hotel. The atmosphere: just as if you walked into a home. Lots of pictures on the wall, the main chef bringing you food to the table. The food: incredible! The prices: very modest :) The starter: the dim sum! One of the best things I ever tasted. The main course: their squid (with garlic and black pepper).. delicious. If you are more on the meat side, try one of their curries.. I really liked those. The menu.. for every taste to be satisfied. Oh yeah.. and the spiciness range is very good as well. Everything being very well explained on the menu, and, if needed, by the staff. The staff: very nice and warm people, making you feel almost like at home. And like a cherry on top, with your check you get a little pot of mints! :D If you have the chance to visit London, don't miss the opportunity to taste their food. Siam Secret is situated down a tiny back alley off hogarth street opposite earls court station. I'd been staying in london on teh odd night over a few weeks and had eyed this restaurant up as one to visit. down the alley you first reach a court yard full of greenery where you can see a warm looking and busy restaurant through a big window looking out on to the court yard. unfortunatey beacuse i had a lot of work to do in the hotel room i couldnt take the time out to dine in the restaurant, so i ordered a take away instead. The staff couldnt have been friendlier and more helpful. Whilst the meal was ok (i ordered a sea food noodle dish with a side of tempura), i wasn't blown away by the flavours. However i do have to remember that i ordered take away.... the dishes i could see being served in the restaurant looked amazing. So maybe it just didnt translate to being taken out in tupperware. I'll happily give it another go next time i'm down that way, but this time i'll eat in. read more

This really is a hidden gem! The entrance to the restaurant is pretty tiny but the space opens up after. They have updated the sign outside and the whole branding is different than what's on Yelp photos. On one of those lucky days when the weather is nice outside, there is also a cute patio dining space. Food all around is excellent! What I like most is "spicy" here is real spicy, unlike most restaurants I'm used to back home (Los Angeles) where they tone things down a bit. This is a chill restaurant on a side street off of Earl's Court tube station. Come and get some decent Thai food and service with a smile. The food is as authentic as you can get it with ingredient substitutes (come on people, be real, there's certain spices that would jack up the price if they flew it in). The pricing is fair. What's awesome about this place is the ambiance. I've always made a new friend each time eating dinner there by myself. I tend to stay around Earl's Court because of my company's rate policy if I can't score something nearer to Mayfair. Earl's Court has restaurants, salons, Waitrose (awesome beet salad) grocery store, ethnic grocery stores. It's on the Tube line that doesn't require too many stairs coming off of Airport Express. Perhaps this restaurant is on some Lonely Planet or other traveler guide but the people I sit next to are usually a mix bag from travelers, repeat offenders like me and locals. Walking into Siam Garden felt like walking into a secret garden. It was crazy small and it Meade me feel like we had found a secret hideaway. My friend and I went on a Saturday in the early evening, we wanted to beat any kind of dinner rush. I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews. But I'm thinking we went on an off night. We ordered the chicken Pad Thai and spicy beef. I had plain rice and my friend had chicken fried rice. I found my rice to be really dry, obviously cooked but dry beyond reason. The fried rice however had normal texture and nice flavor. The pad Thai was a bit sub par as well. I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants in my life and sadly this one doesn't stand out. It was close to a really great wine bar but my friend and I were not in the mood for wine. I might update my review after I've had a chance to sample other Thai restaurants in the immediate area. But comparing this restaurant to others I've eaten at its a solid 3 stars. I was about to take away a star for not offering mango sticky rice, but that's just selfish of me. read more

Siam Garden is neatly hidden away, but worthy searching for. Only thirty seconds from Earl's Court tube. The interior is calm and tidy. The staff are attentive. And the food is top notch, offering a full range of traditional Thai meals, cooked and served swiftly with fresh, high-quality ingredients. It's probably better for a dinner date, rather than a boys night out. Hard to fault the service, although our waitress seemed to struggle to pronounce "broccoli". Hard to say, but delicious to eat! I went and picked up food from here last night. The taste of the sauces and noodles was good but the chicken was honestly disgusting. It tasted metallic and almost rotten. My wife didn't eat it at all but I was hella drunk so went for it. Felt fine,didn't get sick, but sadly won't try this place again. read more

My favourite Thai restaurant in the city. Value for money, nice cosy setting and the staff are super friendly. I'm a regular, but with long intervals between visits, and some of them remember me. Reliable quality and authentic taste, not like some "Thai" restaurants you might see. Staff and chefs speak Thai; they play Thai music. Whenever I need comfort, this is where I go. What's exciting too is the history - there's a picture on one of the walls of a Siamese king - I think it's HM King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) - eating there in the late 1800's with his family! read more

Happened upon this restaurant and its outside courtyard on a beautiful evening. We ordered pretty standard fare: som tum salad, red chicken curry with chicken, pad thai with prawns, and Singha beers. Everything we had was an above-average version of itself. Service was efficient and professional. Surely there are too many casual Thai restaurants in London for this to be a true destination spot, but if you are in the area, it is definitely worth a stop. read more

"You Might Get An Argument Over What You Order" I love finding hidden gems and this is certainly one. It's tucked away under a small sign, one tiny little gated doorway you'd probably miss. The menu posted outside is faded and hard to read, but we got enough of a sense that they could serve us, a vegan and a vegetarian, so we went in. I tried to order the Kang Lueng Pla Salmon and substitute tofu instead of salmon, but after the waitress took our order, a man came out from the kitchen and said that dish would not taste good with tofu. After some back and forth, trying to figure out why and negotiate a compromise on the dish, I gave up and ordered the Kang Dang. It was very good and I have no complaints. My vegetarian companion's fried rice was also very good, and so was the appetizer. We went back a second time to this restaurant during our stay in London and it was just as good as the first time. I explored the place a bit and discovered a balcony area upstairs that was closed for the evening, but it overlooked the gated entrance and probably would be charming if it had been open, but the weather wasn't great that evening. I had the roasted duck curry; the broth was deliciously thick and creamy, but the duck wasn't extremely tender-- but that's duck for ya:) My mom had the green curry with beef and enjoyed it immensely despite vehemently declaring her dislike for ANY form of curry my entire life. This was one of our preferred restaurants when we came to London. Today we left quite disappointed. Maybe they changed the chef? We had two different Thai Salats as starters and the stir fried sea fruits. All dishes lost their brilliant aroma based on different spices. The stir fried was too sweet and not spicy at all. A lovely restaurant with proper service, delicious food and fair prices. The Pad Thai was not the largest portion I was ever served, but the best. I've been coming to this place for more than 10 years. It's a real gem in Earl's court, you can sit outside if it's not too cold, and it feels like you're eating in someone's home. Every time I've eaten here, the owner was there himself, and he and his staff make you feel very welcome. Until I came here, I had not been impressed with level of customer service I had been receiving in London. To call the Siam Secret team a well-oiled machine would be a disservice, because it would ignore the human touches of each interaction. In ordering my simple takeaway meal, I interacted with at least 5 staff members, and each interaction was spot-on. I walked in and was immediately handed a menu and shown a spot to sit down where I was not in the way. The moment I looked up from the menu, a different staff member immediately took my order. I had a bill in a delightful wooden bowl with a wrapped candy less than 30 seconds later. Now I really like to pay for takeaway before the food comes, because the idea of standing there and paying while I watch my food get cold really burns me up. A third staff member who saw my credit card in the little bowl immediately ran it for me. A fourth staff member brought my (delicious) Thai iced tea to sip on while I waited. There were even some interesting books about Thailand to look at on the little table in front of me to distract me while I waited. The food came up quite quickly, and I watched a fifth staff member open one of my containers and bring it over to the counter where she did something with a scissor. Only later did I realize that she had cut the corner off the top of the container to let the steam out of the fried squid appetizer, in order to keep it crispy on my journey home. The best thing about this whole scene was that each staff member actually seemed to be enjoying themselves. I had come in tired and cranky, and I left with a big smile on my face. Now to the food. The Thai iced tea was the perfect blend of sweet and strong tea. The fried squid appetizer, still crispy, had scallions and bits of sliced green and red hot peppers. It was hands down the best fried squid I have ever eaten, and one of the best dishes I have ever smelled or tasted. It even came with some very tasty fancy bitter lettuce. The mixed pad Thai was good, although the chicken, pork and shrimp could have been a bit more succulent. It was clear that the other diners in this restaurant were receiving the same level of service that my simple takeaway order had received. I find it hard to imagine being disappointed with a meal or the service in this clean, bright gem of a place. I hope the Siam secret gets out, because this place deserves to succeed. read more
