Sri Nam can you put a pep in your step and come take our orders please. Multiple waiter/waitresses passed our table before someone stopped by to offer us water. Most of them look very unhappy. Even a comedian couldn't put a smile on their face. We end up ordering the Pad Thai, the red chicken curry, lamb curry and coconut rice. The size of the dishes were smaller than expected but were all very flavorful. I was satisfied with the taste of the dishes however I was not satisfy with the charge of the 2 bottle of still waters. Each bottle cost 4.20 and rice cost 3.75. The total for two was 8.20. The cost of one bottle of still cost more than a serving of rice. There's potential in this restaurant. The reason why I had to give it lower stars was because of the service. We kept having to ask staff multiple times for the same things (like water, bowls, hot sauce, etc). I'm not from the UK but I am from America...do they not speak English??? When I asked for rice with my curry they told me I couldn't pick that and only could pick from their menu options...guess what? Rice was one of the options. I am still confused. I ordered a soup as appetizer and they forgot about it. It basically came out after we finished all of our entrees. Food was not bad but I've had better. Been to Sri Nam a couple of times now, and impressed both times! Downstairs is the informal "cafe" type area, excellent for lunch -- the bento boxes are an excellent pick! Upstairs is the more formal dining room, and again -- great choice and quality of food. However -- crying shame it's not open at the weekends. This is a very unassuming place from the outside. You think it should be a real estate agent or a tailor ship from the front. When you walk in, it's pretty nice. In this area, you aren't going to eat for cheap and for the price you pay this is an ok Thai place. Great place for a quick lunch with colleagues. Lots of regular tables as well as high-tops which seat up to 8 and have lots of space to pass plates around amongst the group. Small selection of beers, but it includes Tiger on draft so I'm happy. If you're looking for a "native Thai" taste in terms of spiciness, I don't think you'll find it here. The kitchen will do well enough to not offend anyone, while putting a little kick into plates you'd expect would have them. So far my favourite has to be the crispy shredded chili beef, begun with a won ton soup and BBQ spare ribs. Funny, I came here around 6 years ago and remembered really great Thai food. I took a friend here recently for dinner, and was somewhat disappointed. The restaurant is lovely - your typical city restaurant, attempting sophisticated decor and ambience. However, the food is nice, but doesn't border on the amazing food I remembered. I think the thing that sticks out for me is over-priced for what really is quite average Thai food. It needs something special if going to charge these prices. That said, it must be doing something right, since it was pretty busy. Good solid Thai dining in the Canary Wharf district. I don't normally go for Thai as my Asian food of choice, however, the host was paying so I'm eating. We went for the set menu for 26 per person and just had a crap load of food brought out. First course was an appetizer tray with calamari, satay, veggies, scallop and some other unknown item which was good! Second course was an onslaught of pork, chicken, beef and monk fish that was also tasty. Highlight was their version of mu shu pork with plum sauce. We were being good boys that night so we stayed with Tiger beer to wash all the grub down. Dessert was excellent- a liquid chocolate-infused mini cake with ice cream. We rolled out of there stuffed to the gunnel's! All and all this was a nice meal and worthy of a stop if you're in canary Wharf. The only down part was that when one of the servers brought out a dish, she tilted it just so and the juice from the plate ran off and onto my briefcase- D'oh! I used to eat here a lot, at least weekly. Their lunch menu is pretty good value and very tasty, but their dinner menu and really poor service robs them of the 4th and 5th stars because well, the service you get from the waiting staff is pretty indifferent and the dinner menu is really expensive for what you get. Went for lunch, and I'd say it was average at best. I ordered pad thai, and it was good but a bit bland. The noodles came out slightly dry, and I felt like the prawns weren't seasoned at all. Portions were good, and I give them credit for having a varied menu with both Thai and non-Thai dishes. They have a good variety of noodle dishes, if you like that. Service was generally good - they came to take our orders promptly, and food was served within 10mins too. Well organised, given that it was peak lunch time. Ambience was nice. My expectation for this place was pretty low to begin with but even then this place had really disappointed me anyway. I got take away from the place so it was full price menu. About 15 GBP for one main + white rice. The jungle curry I got was supposed to be house special and spicy, but it was dry chicken and a ton of vegetables in a bed of soup and salt. Talk about watered down. I guess if you are opened in such a great location, it doesn't really matter how crappy the food is. I went here for lunch with a few friends as we all work in the area. The food was alright, but it was let down by the forgetful service. It is all good to have friendly servers, but it is disappointing when they get numerous aspects of your order wrong. It is as if they weren't listening at all. The mind is a strange thing. This restaurant belongs to the same group (Oriental Restaurants) as Sri Thai City (previously Hokkien Chan) near Liverpool St station and offers a similar (but extended) menu. However, Sri Thai City is a somewhat regular haunt but Sri Nam just feels pricier. The downstairs area is reasonable for the area and the upstairs are great decor and atmosphere. Food is good if you have a hankering for Asian flavours but it's probably best not to rate its authenticity - this is a City restaurant for bankers to conduct quick lunch meetings, not necessarily a place to savour a particular cuisine. The last I went there was when I worked in the area...I don't imagine myself trekking down to the Wharf just for this place. read more

A favorite amongst some of my colleagues, but personally, I am not too sure. The food is alright, but nothing amazing, nor is it truly authentic Thai style food (basing this opinion my food I had in Thailand). A bit on the pricey side I would say, so not really the type of place I would visit frequently. What's more, the service is not the quickest, you can easily spend 5 minutes flapping your hands in the air trying to get the attention, and maybe end up with RSI. Food is very generic Southeast Asian fare, but unfortunately this also means that most flavours have been watered down, too. The atmosphere is fine and the food is relatively cheap, and the set lunch options also offer good value, but there's much, much better Asian around.
