When I'm in England and get tired of bland English pub food, i always visit Thai Cafe. Great food and service.

It's okay, pad Thai noodles weren't the best and the sauce was a bit bland. Authentic decor but the taste wasn't there.

Great new place in Mile End! Loads of seating outside which is amazing for the summer time…read more I would say its not your average drink place too. They serve some standard ones and some South East Asian Beer. YES! Thai food too!

It was a pleasant warm evening and they had the front doors/windows open fully. The food smelt lovely as soon as we walked in and the friendly waitress sat us at a table for two. This place is tiny, like 6-8 tables tiny. It's obviously more of a takeaway place, judging by the amount of deliveroo and just eat drivers coming and going past our table. We ordered a starter of Thai prawn crackers and duck spring roll to share, which were delicious. The rolls were hot and fresh, not greasy like spring rolls can be and a with tasty dipping sauce. On to the mains, which were brought out quickly. I opted for stir fried chilli and basil beef with coconut rice and my partner had the Pad See Ew. Both of which looked gorgeous HOWEVER beware.....this is not food for weak Caucasian mouths like ours. Neither of us are wimps but we could see both our dishes were absolutely covered with small bits of red chilli and seeds. We were embarrassed by our patheticness and made a valiant effort to eat as much as possible because beyond the heat the meal had nice flavour and the vegetables were crunchy just as I like them. The coconut rice was sticky and not too coconutty - can be sickly otherwise. Eventually we could take no more and decided once our noses started running and brows needed mopping we should give up. The waitress was happy to box up what was left and we grabbed the bill. Meal for two with starters and drinks was £30. The place itself is rustic with corrugated iron roof, shelves of drinks, oils and sauces and homely (if slightly incongruously Americana in style) signs with mottos. This is a cute spot for a Thai meal but probably not if you're wimps like us! Sadly, I'd be hesitant to eat here again but would still recommend to others.

It was not super busy so we could seat wherever we wanted. My husband got the Massaman Curry and I chose the Prawn Pad Thai. Both were super flavorful and satisfying. I came here last night around 8:30PM and only about half the restaurant was filled up. After breezing through the menu, I decided on getting myself the Papaya Salad with Satay Chicken and the Pad Thai for my main. First up to bat were appetizing prawn crackers and my friend and I nibbled on these until our starters came. He got the 1/4 Crispy Duck while I had my Papaya Salad. Crispy duck was good, but not really one of my favorite things. The papaya salad was unlike any I've ever had before. The chunks of papaya were thick cut and the sauce it was in was thicker than what I was used to. I've also never had it with chicken before, it's usually crab or no meat at all. Although it wasn't the traditional type I'm used to, it had great flavor and a nice spicy kick to it. I actually really enjoyed it and as I'm typing this review up right now, my mouth is watering for it. I guess that's saying something. For my main, I got the beloved Pad Thai. So, I like to say that you can judge a restaurant based on the quality of its Pad Thai. It's a very popular dish and if a restaurant can't get this right, they've got themselves a problem. Isarn happened to make a fantastic Pad Thai. It was the right flavor and consistency and I may even go as far to say that it's the best I've had in London. Isarn has passed the Pad Thai test. My friend got the Cashew Chicken with Egg Fried Rice which was actually very good as well. I'm glad I found a new place to get my Thai food fix here in London. It may not be entirely traditional, but the twist they add to traditional dishes is done well.

You are first greeted by a historic grade 2 listed building with a little courtyard incorporating a…read moreprayer area (used by the staff and a really nice touch), a covered flower walkway (used for wheelchair access) and some external cabins which is a perfect place for a few photos or drinks and snacks during the summer months. A great start to see some thought and attention and good use of space rather than just having a bistro style canopy and chairs and tables. This place is huge but it is all partitioned with screens so you never feel isolated or that you are in a big function type space and keeping a nice authentic experience wherever you are seated. I am also informed the chefs are from various areas of Thailand so allowing for regional dishes to be both truly authentic but also allowing for fusion dishes between different areas of Thailand to be created. The staff are so welcoming and warm and even on a cold day you feel warm from the moment you enter. Let's begin our journey with the vast drinks selection. A full menu of cocktails and mocktails that even a nightclub would struggle to make and all made in house from fresh ingredients. Including the mixers which are all hand made. I don't think anyone would leave dissatisfied or disappointed from the offering here for sure. Always so happy to see uniqueness and variety in a drinks menu that also caters for non-drinkers. The menu is authentic and you will struggle to choose which dishes to order as you will want to try them all, so I would advise you go with friends so you can order more. The servers are really nice and so is management so down to earth and were happy to help and guide. Thai Prawn Cakes served with a sweet chilli sauce - Really soft and the home made chilli sauce shines through. Even the prawn crackers are served with one of the most amazing and freshly made home made pickles I have ever had. I am not a pickle person but Yum Yum has converted me. I always say when you experience or want someone to experience new dishes take them to the best so they try and never regret. Yum Yum would be a place for anyone new to Thai food. Tom yum goong - A nice clear soup with a kick and served with prawns and nice chunky mushrooms. Had a fresh and zesty lemon taste that really refreshes and cleansed the pallet. A great starter for these colder months. Lamb Mussaman - Another house special similar to Beef red curry but more of a kick and more complex taste structure which is richer and creamier in taste. The lamb just melts and a dish you have to try. I can't wait to have this again. Som Tam - served cold but fresh with just the right amount of spice and crunch. Really refreshing salad to start and compliment the other flavours of the main dishes. Beef Red curry - An amazing creamy coconut and spicy taste. Not too spicy and beef perfectly cooked. If you want more spice go for the Lamb Mussaman. Thai Noodle soup with Duck - A more subtle dish for those who like it mild and not spicy. We had the duck and was again cooked to perfection. Stir-fried Morning Glory - Morning glory crunchy and with the right amount of fresh garlic. Banana Fritter with coconut ice cream - I am no fan of coconut other than in perfumes (love the smell as I do with coffee but I don't drink coffee) but in some cases it's just right amount of flavour and in this case it was perfect and compliments the banana fritter so worth a try. Thai Coconut Roll [Warm coconut filled pancake served with coconut ice cream and honey] - One of Yum Yum's signature dishes. As this is served with the same excellent coconut ice cream I prefer this dish as the pancake was freshly made. What an amazing experience and with a great menu for drinks and food as well as the ambience and authenticity I will be coming back. There is also a great value lunch express menu and various vegetarian menu options available that means everyone will be catered for. Portion sizes are all sharing portions. So be ready for a doggy bag or two.

We had complimentary prawn crackers, with tap water to go with our meals even if you did not ask for it, you got it which was nice. I ordered a Pot of Jasmin tea, which was lovely. I also ordered a Chicken Pad Thai which had, egg, beansprouts, spring onion and grounded peanuts. This meal was truly delicious, but I wish the portion size was bigger, I mean all that singing starved me out, and needed more food, but hey it was standard portion, I'am just being a pig. The staff was pleasant. The price's reasonble. On their home deliveries, they do a lot of special offers. They also do a set lunch/evening meals. It looks nice and smells delicious as we head in, so that's a good sign. We're seated in the back section of the restaurant which is a shame as it's empty and all the other diners and atmosphere are at the front of the restaurant. Awkward. Anyway, we order the mixed starter platter, everything is yummy and we have various (complimentary) prawn crackers to eat whilst we wait. It's a Thai place but it also has some Malaysian dishes on the menu. I opted for beef rendang and the boy ordered weeping tiger steak. My dish was delicious - piles of slow cooked flavours one beef in a tasty sauce. It was enough meat for two but I polished it off. I ordered sticky rice and really didn't like it - it wasn't like the sticky rice I ate in Thailand. My boyfriends dish was okay. The steak was really tasty and it came with a tamarind dip, but it was accompanied by baby vegetables which I didn't think was very authentic, and made for quite a dry dish with rice. We washed our meals down with decently priced cocktails and left stuffed. Sadly upon leaving I remembered to check in only to find id missed out on redeeming a free glass of wine offer, damn it! Lesson learned... Always check in on arrival. Upon paying the bill we were given a £5 off a £50 spend voucher for next time. It was a little pricey for Thai food, so you'd easily spend £50. Our mixed starter, two mains, rice and two cocktails cost us roughly £65. I enjoyed it but I don't think id head back any time soon. Thai food at it's best has always been in a street market for me and mega cheap.
