Usually not the type to write reviews! Typically I'm very sketchy about trying new nail shops with techs that I don't know especially with my situation today being a walk-in. I was afraid that whoever they would give me would do a mediocre job but i was proven otherwise! The wait was under 10 minutes which was fine considering the fact that the whole shop was packed. I didn't get the name of my tech but she was so sweet, really took her time on my nails (I got a gel acrylic fill with a manicure) and I'm incredibly satisfied with her work. I took a star off for their gel polish set up though concerning the layout of choices and variety of colors. Everything was more bunched up together than spread out. I came in looking for either a dark grey or a hot pink and I couldn't find either unless i were to bend over to look at the other brands so I just ended up getting red. Okay first of all I agree with others not the cleanest salon ever, but they are very friendly. They don't completely understand what I'm asking for and I understand there is somewhat of a language barrier...but why is it that a pedicure cost $21,which is absolutely a competitive fee. Yet the nail polish (gel) that I did not ask for cost an additional charge of .....get ready for it....$25 so this pedi cost $46 . Of course did not know that until I was ready to check out. The other service I had done was a fill ( not very long nails) but did ask for gel polish on my finger nails. So let's review...a wanted a fill....gel polish on my fingernails....and a plain pedi....cost $75 ..... Now my friend who came with me as well her services included a plain pedicure $21 nothing fancy after that all she wanted to do was change for nail polish on her fingernails to a gel polish her total .......get ready for a $74. Why on earth would hers be a dollar less than mine and she didn't even have all the services that I had ...............never ever ever will I frequent this place again. Can you say "stick em up" Very unhappy with owner as well, she offered to give me a $10 credit towards my next visit...she did apologize that her staff doesn't understand English very we'll.and that happens ...but SHE needs to make sure thAT HER STAFF UNDERSTANDS WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTS..NOT WHAT THE STAFF WANTS TO DO...WILL NOT RETURN TO COLLECT THE CREDIT. I haven't been back because the service is horrible. They don't own up to their mistakes. Went in with French acrylics, where the white polish literally turned grey after 2 days. They blamed me and said I did something to it. Not sure why I would've messed up a nail job that cost me almost $50. They "fixed the polish" and charged me for it of course.. even though I said it wasn't my fault, that it must've been the polish or something and it had only been 2 days since I had them done! Another time they took 3 hours to do acrylics and they ended up "accidentally skipping a step" because the lady was more interested in her smoke break and had someone else take over my nails.. and when he realized the mistake.. he had to take them off and redo the entire process.. still charged me full price. AND the very last time I was there, they did my acrylics and I pointed out to the owner that they were bubbled up on the top. She said that is normally how they look. I asked if it could be fixed and she took me to her table to fix it.. still they had bubbles but I was so done with being there. I said it was fine. Again. Still charged full price. I was so against going here after that, I went to a completely different nail salon to have them taken off. Never going back again and I never recommend anyone to go here. I absolutely had a blast at Uptown Nails. I was in Williamsburg on vacation for four days all by myself and enjoying it because I'd never been there before nor did I know anyone there, so my trip was fantastic. I'm from San Diego, CA and didn't have time to get a mani/pedi before I left for my trip. I went on Yelp to find a nail salon relatively close to my motel and came across Uptown Nails. I walked into the salon on November 13, 2015 which also happened to be on a Friday, and fell in love with it. The first person to greet me was the owner Jenny. Very pleasant lady; I explained that I was from out of town and told her what I wanted and she took it from there, she even offered to give me a free design on my big toes. I was very impressed with the culture in the salon because it was a mix of so many different ethnicities including men. I've never seen anything like that in the nail salons in San Diego. I got the pleasure of having Haley as my nail technician and she was awesome. She was very friendly and funny. The conversation was the best and my mani/pedi was fantastic. It was the first time that I had the paraffin wax and man oh man it was great. The chair I sat in had a vibration massage for my back and my feet were happily soaking before I got the paraffin wax. I think the best thing while relaxing was when I had the first sip from my glass of Pinot Noir from their wine bar. I still had some time left on my mani/pedi and decided to go for another glass of wine but this time I only got 1/2 a glass (LOL). I would highly recommend Uptown Nails most especially Haley. Thanks Uptown Nails making my trip to Williamsburg even more relaxing and memorable, I'll be back. read more

Usually I love Uptown because the prices are really great, but when I went this week it was an awful experience. The guy doing my nails gave me a pedi/mani in record time while he was texting in between nails. My manicure was one of the worst I've ever gotten. He used a dirty water bowl to soak my nails in that he was using to clean the tools he was using on my nails. He also accidentally cut my toe with a tool and proceeded to dump some weird goo on it to stop the bleeding. This place is usually okay, but the level of uncleanliness and lack of customer service was enough for me not to want to go back. read more

They are the best for eye waxing! Nails they are really good too. I have been here many times and only a couple times have I not been satisfied, she when they weren't how I liked them the owner appologized and fixed them herself. Go here for a great experience read more

Don't bother. The waxing services were performed without real technical skill in a poorly lit, barely lit back room. The "professional" that did my mani/pedi was rude and unskilled as well. He gave me the worst mani of my life! There was nail polish all over my cuticle which I had to ask him to remove, and the the nail surface was "bubbly". I just ended up re-painting when I returned home. He left me to dry without a thank you, and when I went to tip him (not that he at all deserved it) I found him sound asleep in a massage chair. I ran out of there as fast as possible! Do more research and find another salon. read more

They had two people working on my mani-pedi because I told them from the beginning that I just had 30 minutes. They also have a very relaxing massage chair with the rollers. Great service, they finished in 30 minutes as promised, and my nails look super cute :) read more

Brittany and India do such a great job! They both take their time and are gentle on hands and feet. I recommend asking for them!

HORRIBLE, DIRTY, & Unprofessional. They do not sanitize pedicure stations or tools in between clients. They were going to leave dirty towel on footrest for me & my daughter to place our feet on. Waxing is no better, their wax room is dirty. Again, did not change sheet or towel, wax was to hot & burnt my eyelids. When I got up I had wax in my hair on the back of my head from the towel(the owner was waxing, so that doesn't speak volumes for her). At this point I don't believe half of the staff is professionally licensed. It's a shame this place is still in business. Never going back! read more

There's no equality here. You always hear the technicians complaining or sitting around. There's no consistency here. One technician does things one way and you will come back for the same service and have someone new and get the same service done completely different. Your technician may or may not speak and understand english. There may never be a wait but that is because they are pushed from one client to the next sometimes even before finishing with their first client and without putting any of their tools in to sanatizing equipment. I have watched my technician leave me wrapped with hot towels and go to another client having a pedicure and start on theirs without ever washing their hands, I will not return to this salon. Nice place. It was clean, the people were all very nice and I enjoyed my visit. I live about three hours away and was in town for a business conference. There seemed to be quite a few return customers as they were greeted by name. The coffee and wine area was very cute and neatly kept. I had a mani, pedi and my eye brows done. I am very happy with all three. If I lived closer I would definitely return. read more

I visited Nails Uptown for the first time with a girlfriend and we both had manicures, pedicures, and medium eyelash clusters added on a Tuesday morning. By 5pm that same day, the eyelashes we falling off, and almost completely gone by Friday. We got them done for an event on Sunday, but by then we will have bald lashes. I have not added water to my face, but have been washing my face with a wash cloth intentionally avoiding the lashes by not exposing them to water. So far(Friday) the mani and pedi are holding up pretty good. I am not sure if the very young lady doing the lashes was experienced. My friend's lashes normally last her just about a month. Each set of lashes cost us $30.00 each. read more
