Out of town walk-in had a great experience! My daughter and I Yelped nail salons and chose this one based on reviews and proximity to the mall. I came to palm desert for a business retreat and wanted to get my nails done. This couple is awesome. They were supposed to close at 5:30 but they took me anyway, which is amazing, since I'm tired and pregnant. They were very friendly and the service was great. They also introduced me to a better way of sealing my gel nailpolish by flipping my hands in the UV machine when doing a gel manicure. I live in Palm Springs and spent the morning calling nail salons to see if they could accommodate an appointment for today or tomorrow, gel nail polish, dipping technique (if you are obsessed with getting a gel manicure you should definitely find out about dipping! It will save your nails!). I had weird experiences calling salons this morning and a few didn't even answer their phones. I called Nails Today and they were prompt and responsive. I made the drive from Palm Springs and I'm glad I did! I got my nails done with Vincent and he was so helpful and my nails are amazing! They were in pretty rough shape... I'm so thankful! I have been coming to the desert for years and I was so happy to discover this nail salon in early 2012. It is clean, organized and the owners treat you like family. It is a bonus that Vincent and Rose are dependable and excellent at what they do. They remember my name and my preferences every single time I come back for the season. My gel nails look great and stay on forever. No peeling, no lifting, thanks to Vincent. Rose does such a wonderful job on my guy's pedicure I make him see her as soon as he arrives and of course, right before we leave in the spring and every two weeks in between. No one does a better job on his feet. I like the fact that I am treated like a friend and welcomed warmly. I like that they somehow fit me in around my busy schedule, especially when I have a special event and need to look my best. I appreciate both Vincent and Rose so much, after all these years. I am writing this review as I sit in the chair watching my toes get butchered by this shop. I literally had to ask the woman to stop and hand over the gel polish because my toes looked unbelievably ridiculous. I have never paid to paint my own toes before!! My skin is painted and the color is uneven. My four year old niece can paint my toes better than this place. I am livid. My friend was getting a pedicure at the same time... and I can't tell who's toes look worse! Never again. read more

First time getting nails done here. I was in palm desert and after seeing their reviews decided to stop in. Wow am I ever happy that I did! Vincent and his wife are just an amazing set of people. Not to mention his grandmother who is just an angel. I was surprised to find a beautiful gel color that actually had a matching regular polish for my toes! My pedicure was done so well. They took the time to scrub my whole foot including the toes, whereas other places seem to just notice the heel and sides of my foot. Next, softly and meticulously, my toenails and cuticles were trimmed and filed. I am very sensitive when it comes to my feet so being gentle was a plus for me. My gel nails came out wonderful and the length and shape are exactly what I wanted. I am definitely going to make them a regular. Thanks guys ! See you soon read more

Visiting from out of town and needed a mani/pedi. Decided to try Nails Today due to the very high ratings. The owners were very nice, but this was not a 5-star experience/place. It was clean, but completely lacking in ambiance. They overbooked and kept people waiting. In the Bay Area, where I live, I can get a spa mani/pedi with hot lotion and hot towels for about $25. No hot lotion/towels here and I paid $35 (posted price is $42, but I was quoted $35 when I called to make an appointment). A good basic mani/pedi, at a good basic place with very nice people. read more

Stopped in to this place because I needed an emergency pedicure before the wedding I was in town for. Based on the great yelp reviews I figured it was a safe bet. The 2 stars I will give is for the pedicure. No qualms there. Good quality and nice spa chairs But the gel manicure is probably one of the worst I have ever gotten in my life. I specifically asked before starting the mani if the had the matte gel top coat. The guy said they did so great, off we go. Then it comes to the point when they use the alcohol to cure it and my nails still look shiny. So I check on the matte top coat again. The guy goes "oh I have to buff out the shininess". Excuse me what. I've gotten many a gel mani and know that is not how it works. Turns out they forgot about the matte top coat. So, they buff off the top coat already there and apply the matte top coat. I'm already dubious about this but they already started. They finish and it looks just awful. You can see the texture of the buffed gel underneath, and the edges of some are still shiny because the whole application process was incorrect. He offers to apply another coat of the matte, by at this point I'm just upset and annoyed. This prompts me to closely look at my mani and the polish is also on my cuticles/under my fingers. The only way to really fix it is to start all over, which I unfortunately did not have time for. He offers me a $7 (seven!) discount, which is not much considering I'm going to have to get this completely redone in LA. Needless to say I left without tipping. Honestly, they seem nice enough and the facilities are great, so 1 star would be harsh. But they really need to step up their knowledge of gel manicures or not offer anything other than a normal mani. read more

Vincent does a great job on my nails, and he shapes them to look very natural. He is on time for appointments, which I appreciate. They do charge the most I have ever paid for a fill with gel: $35. With 15% tip, it's $40.25. (Another reviewer stated that their prices are among the lowest around, but I got quotes from two other shops for fill with gel, and they were $26 and $28.) However, I can go 3 weeks before needing a fill, so I guess it's worth it! BEWARE: the gel color samples are NOT what the actual color ends up being; so if you are trying to match your manicure with your pedicure, it is a big challenge. Be prepared to be there 75 minutes just for the fill with gel. (Vince's English is excellent, so he will spend time chatting; but when he's chatting, he stops what he's doing to focus on the conversation! But Vince is a lovely man!) Plan for two hours if you want a pedicure with your fill with gel. His wife, Rosie, does an excellent job on my feet (when I can afford both fill and pedi!) It is just the two of them in the shop. read more

so glad I found this wonderful nail salon.......today I called for an appointment, got in 30 minutes later, and had a somewhat unusual request. I had just had a pedicure at my usual nail salon where I live in LA, and they had failed to do any work on my calouses. Since I am on my honeymoon, I decided that situation had to rectified as soon as possible. And thank goodness, they took care of my calouses and made my feet soft again. My mom and I had a great experience here last weekend during our vacation! I had read great reviews, so I made an appointment with Jimmy for a gel manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was excellent! I've always had a hard time when they scrub my feet due to being very ticklish. Jimmy had an amazing touch, I didn't even flinch and one of the best massages I've received at a nail salon. He did a great job on my toes and was very caring. Unfortunately, my gel manicure only lasted about four days which was sad given the extra money spent on gel, but this is typically due to the fact that I am an esthetician and my hands are in water all day. it's very hard for me to get a manicure that lasts, but again Jimmy really took his time to make everything perfect. Vincent and Rose were excellent with my mother, she said it was the best nail experience she had ever had. They helped her with some advice on the condition of her skin. One thing I really love about Nails Today is they do not destroy your nails like some nail salons. They do not remove healthy cuticles and everything is clean and sanitary. We wish we lived closer so we could come back! They are almost worth the 3 hour roundtrip drive! read more
