The only thing I don't like about this salon is that I can't interpret what the nail technicians are saying to one another.... There is always jovial giggling and enthusiastic chatter that makes me wonder if there is some sort of gossipy jokes that are being discussed on behalf of their unsuspecting customers.... That being said, I loved what I experienced here at Nails So Happy!! I didn't even care if I had any nail polish applied to my toes during the course of this pedicure. The massage was lengthy and between the kneading of my feet and calves and the Shiatsu massage the chair was providing, for the first pedicure ever, I almost fell asleep! I was sooooooo relaxed. The service has really started to decline with rushed services, rude nail techs, and sloppy work with higher prices! My last visit, I happened to get Helen as my tech...run the other way if you get her. First, she was rude until it came time for her tip. She also gave me the cheapest pedicure when I asked for one of the more expensive packages that include the hot stone massage. She barley shaped my nails and left the edges crooked. She gave me literally a 1 minute leg massage with almost no lotion. Then, she left nail polish on my skin. Absolutely pitiful, especially for the $28 they charged for that service. So tried this place for the first time yesterday after seeing some 4 star reviews. I was not thrilled with the "spa" pedicure I received. This was the quickest spa pedicure I ever received and not worth the $28. Also the technician cut way too much of my cuticles off. He showed me a not so clean looking file (which looked like a cheese grater) and asked if I wanted my feet filed. I declined and I'm glad I did. Another thing I thought was strange was how he sprayed alcohol on my feet after the massage (which burned). I've never had alcohol sprayed on my feet before. Nail places typically use Sea Breeze spray. Something else that bothered me was the place had incense burning and it was making my nose itch. My hair smelled like it the rest of the day. read more

Let me preface my review with I am a former nail tech, so I am VERY picky because of my prior professional experience. Made last minute appointments for 4 pedicures as a fun girl's outing. My normal place was booked. In the future I will try to plan farther ahead, because the pedicures were sub-par at best! The water was lukewarm and I asked for it to be warmer and the tech was not friendly about the request. She asked if I wanted my nails trimmed and barely cut them and the shape of my big toe was crooked. Helen used a cheese grater on my feet without even checking with me, never would have consented to it and she barely touched them with the block file. My children give firmer massages than she did! She only rubbed lotion on my legs and, the foot she did rub, was barely touched. The only reason I gave it two stars was because the place was clean. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!! If I can give this place a negative five I would. The employees here can't do nails at all and they will overcharge your nails even if it turns out horrible. It was completely different from what I asked for, and when I changed my mind because of how ugly it was, they charged me the same price. I agree with another reviewer... Nails So Unhappy. They are not very friendly, nor very clean, and definitely not very good with pedicures. I went twice because you never know when you catch a business on an off day. That was not the case here. The owners/ workers make the customers feel unwelcome. I also like when people speak English around me. It's a little thing but I truly believe you should greet your customers in English and use Vietnamese less. It felt like a foreign film without the subtitles. Not all shops speak exclusively in Vietnamese and that is what makes their customers enjoy the experience more. It was also loud with the barked orders in another language. It's a spa and should be relaxing for the women and men who take the time to have some "me" time. read more

I made an appointment at the shop on 210, next to Publix, and got SNS put on my nails and my toes painted. The lady that did my nails didn't talk much (which I liked). She did a good job, the shop was clean and spacious, and it wasn't super busy. The only downside I have, it is expensive. To have the same services done at a place about a block away would be $35 (they also do a good job, it's just much more crowded-their shop is much smaller, and harder to get an appointment). This was $50. I won't be back due to the cost, but if they were to get their prices more in line with the other place, I'd rather go here. read more

I paid $35 for a gel manicure. He didn't have his mask over his mouth as he chomped on his gum and did my nails. He finished in less than ten minutes, and it is shown through my already chipping nails; It has only been three days. A regular manicure should have lasted longer than this. If I could give 0 stars I would, I brought my younger sister in for a full set of acrylics for her birthday and she left with unfinished nails and bleeding cuticles. Everything was going good up until the woman started to use the electric file and repeatedly nicked each of her fingers, the photo does not do it justice because I snapped it real quick in the heat of the moment. Before I had even known what was happening all of a sudden I see my sister stand up and say ow please stop next thing I know the lady grabs her hand and says here and takes out a spray bottle and sprays her hand with something, right away my sister says what was that it's burning really bad, I told her to go to the sink and run her hands under the cool water. At this point my sister is so upset and her fingers are still burning and they are repeatedly trying to get her to sit down so they can finish her nails she said no I can't finish, my fingers burn. The manager proceeds to tell us we must pay, I said look at her fingers they are not finished and they are bleeding, he says you must pay, at this point I wanted to leave so I said what about half price, he then tells me "no, you have to pay full price, there's nothing wrong with my nail tech there's something wrong with your sisters fingers." Like what? What does that even mean her cuticles weren't bleeding until we came here. So at this point I just pay and he tells me I should probably take her to a doctor and have her fingers looked at Incase they get infected. Thank god they didn't but beware of this place. This situation could've gone much worse than just the horrible terrible service, my sisters fingers could've gotten badly infected. The way her nails look in the photo is what we paid full price for, unfinished, unpolished, bleeding and burning. I felt so bad as it was a birthday present. read more

I returned to st augustine for my wedding and it so happened that this was the closest to our hotel and the other place that I loved had closed. Everything else was closed or not on the island. Came here to get my nails done and asked for a relatively basic design. I asked for the price before hand and it came up to around $50. With regular polish, not even gel. However, I sucked it up and just prayed that the nails would be worth it. When it came time to cut the acrylics' length, she simply chopped them wherever she decided without even asking. They were too short for my liking, but, again, I just held it in because I did not want her to take off and re-glue and file the nails. The design came out crooked and rough since she used cheap drugstore design brushes that come with the tube. I honestly could've done a better job myself. In the picture I showed her, one of the fingers wasn't visible so she just made up some ugly design without telling me. The whole time, the lady was distracted and kept getting up in between steps or to use her phone. When she filed and shaped my nails she was incredibly rough! It felt like my whole nail was about to get ripped off my hand and my skin was getting filed off. I probably would've been better off buying cheap press-ons. Do not come here. I usually hate talking badly on small businesses but unless they fix their service, do not waste your money. My daughter went in there with average length nails to get a fill, and they were gel filled however she decided to save me money and go with basic nail polish. So with that being said they had advertised a acrylic fill was $20.00 and she also got her eyebrows waxed which was $10.00 except they charged me $40.00 when I confronted them about the misrepresentation of their prices they had clearly advertised they said they were charging me an additional $10.00 to take off nail polish. There was nothing advertised on their billboard reflecting there was a charge for that so again I said that's ridiculous and they conveyed well if you don't like it then leave and we're finished. I was appalled by their attitude when you clearly displayed YOUR OWN Prices out in the open. The nails were not even done that well. I had a fantastic experience with an eyebrow wax and basic pedicure. The eyebrow wax took about 10 minutes and the man doing it was very meticulous. The foot massage for each foot was roughly 10 minutes per foot, which I appreciated after running a half marathon the day before. Overall a great job and I will be back. There was a gentleman walking to the back with a huge ball of paraffin wax...OMG, please do not tell me they reuse the wax. eek! Secondly, the workers were very rude! I have no complaints at all after going to this nail salon for 9 years. I have never had such courteous and friendly service and great looking nails as well. I run into many repeat customers here who also appreciate the attention to detail. You'll find many moms bringing their little girls in too for hand painted designs on their nails. I would imagine the unkind comments previously posted reflect the general attitude of people who are just impossible to please and leave a trail of misery no matter where they go. Worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. It's a given most of these places have employees that don't speak that great of English, but they still try their hardest to give you a good experience so you are a returning customer, this place obviously doesn't share this view. I brought my daughter in for both of us to get a mani/pedi, as a cosmetologist myself I noticed a large list of issues from the get go, but ignoring my gut feeling I continued with the service.. My toes were eh. Whatever they usually look ratchet anyways because I'm always barefoot running around the backyard with my kids. But my fingernails were awful, bubbles all over and the nail wasn't even completely painted. When I expressed my unhappiness I was told she didn't have time to fix them, then I said that I wasn't going to pay for them if they wouldn't fix them. Now I was trying to keep quiet because I didn't want the other clients to know what was going on, she started screaming at me and telling everyone what I was saying... Don't forget my 5 year old was standing there watching me get screamed at. The only reason I gave this place 1 star is because I couldn't leave it at 0. Unfortunately I have learned my lesson and I think you get what you pay for. I got a mani and it is already starting to chip at the bottom and side of my nail, which is unusual. The polish is uneven, and even has lines where the first and second coat did not cover the same areas. Several nails were not filed evenly and I had to ask to have my nails trimmed, which I thought was odd. instead of feeling pampered, I felt a bit stressed during the whole thing. However, I saw others that had great manis and pedis going on so I think it may have been the nail tech and not the salon that was the issue. However, I don't plan to try it again to find out.
