My wife went there to get a pedicure done when she was 8 months pregnant. My wife texted her when she got to the salon, per her request. She then demanded that my wife wait outside in high 80s degree heat. When she finally let my wife in, more than 15 minutes late for her scheduled appointment, she got mad and frustrated at my wife because my wife had asked to be let in from the heat due to her being pregnant. Wife left and was very upset and became sick due to the heat outside and the lack of AC in the building (or maybe it being turned down). She later left this reply to my wife (she's lying, she was more than 15 minutes late). She is simply a disturbing individual and does not deserve to profit from being so cruel to someone in such a debilitating position. read more

Anyone who has "their girl/guy" for a specific beauty treatment or service knows how difficult it is to try to find someone to replace them. For ten whole years I had been going to Claudia at Image & Style in Doral. Not only did she do absolutely amazing things to my hands but she and her family became friends. Needless to say I was freaking out trying to figure out what to do when I moved here to College Park. I have acrylic nails, have had them all this time because I used to do Triathlons and due to the chlorine, sea water, and general beating up my nails, no matter how much I took care of them would split straight down the center and peel off. This can be quite painful really. So Claudia suggested this option and they held up through the races and after I stopped I kept them. Still active, this is a great option so I don't have to worry about them. I had noticed Nails On The Edge, it is the closest place to my house so I walked in, asked the owner Valerie for pricing and availability and said I would call for an appointment. I went in yesterday a tad nervous. Nails are an art, you ether have the talent or you don't. Period. I truly was hoping she could do them like Claudia did. Honestly I must say I am so thrilled, they are wonderful. Valerie has been doing this for 25 years, and truly has the talent to do them right. She has loyal customers, and I now will be one of them. Valerie is AMAZING and her work is meticulous and beautiful! It's easy to see that she takes pride in what she does and doesn't just view you as one of many. Like she so eloquently said while we were chatting (she's great to talk to!), she really is focused on building a business instead of just running one. Her pricing is beyond fair and comparable to what you'd pay at any other salon (better in fact!), but the quality far surpasses what you'll find elsewhere. I should know since I used to go to a popular place right down the street. She even has repetitive pricing for repeat customers, which I'll certainly be! I called Valerie after work during the week and she was kind enough to fit me in right away (in 10 minutes actually!) even though she was already out and about running errands. I got a gel manicure...not any gel manicure, the BEST gel manicure I've ever had. She is precise and her lines are so clean that you'll quickly realize how poorly you've been having your nails done. She is a wizard who made my tiny nail beds and misshapen cuticles look awesome. More importantly, she didn't make me feel embarrassed about them (you know what I'm talking about if you've ever had a nail tech point out to you how horrible your nails are!). I found this cute, tiny nail salon on Yelp! The owner does all of the work in this quaint, comforting space in College Park. Valerie, the owner, is a real lovely person with a big heart and love for all things nails. She stays up to date on the latest products and doesn't use anything on her clients she wouldn't use on herself (she tests it out before using with clients which is key to understanding her business and ensuring high quality products for her clients). Because she is the only nail artist on site it is best to make an appointment. You can call same day and take whatever's available or schedule it weeks out. She keeps good hours, often open until 8pm. The services aren't cheap but you get what you pay for! She takes her time and gives you proper care. She gave me the best pedicure I've ever had because she really looked at my feet and touched them to see where I needed attention - not many places do that! Found this little gem while shopping near by. I was pleasantly surprised by the intimate, specialized and cozy feel of the nail salon. The salon has one manicure table and one pedicure chair. The owner treats you like a true queen by servicing one client at a time. I have really bad feet as I run a lot and have to wear boots for work. Valerie was great. She fixed the horrible job of acrylics I had put on yesterday at a random cheap salon. Instead of making me soak my nails in acetone for a long time, she took her time to drill the acrylics down. She is very knowledgable in nail techniques, and decided because my natural nails are normally so thin already, and the previous terrible nail tech used a drill on them (instead of just buffing to take away the shine), she kept a thin layer of acrylic on my nails and did a beautiful gel top coat. I can't wait for these to grow out and come off so I can become a regular and have my nails done by her on a normal basis! read more

Valerie is a gel manicure genius!!! I am so sad it took me 4 years of living in Orlando to find her, but I can now look no further. I have paid extra in the past to receive gel polish on my nails in hopes that it will at least last a week after my manicure and it always chips only days after the manicure. I am 9 days into my first gel manicure from Valerie and I do not have single chip or scratch on my nails! They literally look the way they did when I walked out of the salon last week. I learned that the application is key and other tips on how to make my nails last...and she was right on the money about everything. I have traveled and slammed these nails around over the past week and I could not be happier. Even my grow out is very minimal at this point. She really cares about the health of your nails and taking care of them properly. I would highly recommend going here for a high quality gel manicure that lasts. This is my first time to write a review on Yelp. I am motivated to take the time to tell my neighbors about Nails on the Edge because after years of getting pedicures, I walked into Valerie Dittman's shop one day this past summer, and when I walked out, I said to myself, "So this is what a pedicure is supposed to be like!" After my first visit, I determined this would be my shop! I had been having some issues with my toenails. After only a few visits with Valerie those issues have disappeared. I used to cut my nails before I would go in for a pedicure to try to avoid some of the pain I experienced when my nails were clipped during a pedicure. I don't have to do that now. I also no longer have issues with ingrown toenails that I occasionally had in the past now that I am visiting Nails on the Edge regularly. About a week before I need an appointment, I text Valerie with some days and times that I am free. She promptly texts me back with a suggested date and time for an appointment. I confirm the appointment by text. She sends me a reminder text the day before my appointment. I arrive on time, and she gets me out on time. After one visit Valerie had me ready to return. I called Valerie for a pedicure and a gel fingernail polish change. She was able to book me the same day. I walked in and it is a very private salon. One worker, one pedi chair, one place for nails. Very quiet and personal. When wrapping my nails, I was looking at gel colors and explained my reasoning behind a specific color I wanted to get. Unfortunately she didn't have it, or anything really like it, in gel. So we started on my toes.. I did the 30 min pedi. I believe this was 30/35 bucks. It was no frills but down to the point and just what I needed. She put a color on my toes that I really liked and we ended up using that on my fingernails instead of gel since I wanted the color. Valerie was easy to talk to and very experienced. I enjoyed my hour long mani pedi with her. I would definitely go back! My only critique is, again, with it being such a small salon, she doesn't have as many color options as the walls and walls of polish you'd typically find. read more

I've never actually been to a salon that's just a one lady show, but I think I actually prefer it now that I have.
