Rarely do I post reviews. But since this is my own community and we dont have too many options... I think its best I leave an honest review. i came in today to treat an associate of mine to a pedicure along w my own. While they did accommodate us on the spot and sat us side-by-side which was nice I have to say of all the pedicures that I regularly get this was possibly the smallest amount of time and attention paid and it was a little embarrassing to not give my associate a good experience. The most pet peevy thing for me is a bad filing job and bad polish job. Bc those are the two easiest tasks as i can do these well even on my own. I got both pet peeves fulfilled today and I cannot return here known the skill level and service level just cannot compete at all for my business. read more

Went to Serena spent $67.00 just to have powder manicure chip the next day. Way too much money for a shoddy job. Decided to go over to their other place . The staff here are very rude and unfriendly. I feel extremely unwelcome as soon as I walk in and the whole time I'm there. They act like customers are an inconvenience. Did they forget that without us they wouldn't be in business! I used to go to the one on Riverdale Avenue which is the same business. There are a couple of nicer staff at that location but overall they're rude. One day I walked in and took a friend there they attended to her and completely ignored me and when I asked what's was going on they spoke to me like crap. They're always speaking to each other in their language which there's nothing wrong with but a tad rude when you're in front of customers as most don't know what they're saying and it makes you feel uncomfortable. One customer even said I know you're talking about me. Not to mention they use unsterilized equipment. It's supposed to be sanitized between clients. They also dip the nail in the dip powder container which means they dip everyone's nails in the same container instead of putting it on a separate container. Overall they are unfriendly, rude and unsanitary and with everything going on with COVID etc they should be happy they have customers at all. I've spent a lot of money there but they won't be getting money from me anymore! Don't go there! This was the sns nails they did it chipped and lifted the next day! I went back and Jayden offers me a gel manicure in exchange which is $35. The SNS manicure was $45 plus tax. So I say what about the other $10 and he says I can give you a pedicure. Remember he says "I'll give it to you" I even had a witness. Then at the end he tries to charge me $22 for the pedicure! I was disgusted! He said clearly, "I'll include the pedicure as an exchange. I mean what was gonna happen with the $10 they owed me! They're the ones that did the shitty job. Never again are we going back to that salon. They make sick! Not to mention as soon as I walked in one of the staff started laughing and talking about me and looking at me! At first I walked in and was very impressed. Clean, nice space, lots of polish options. I asked for a pedicure and picked my polish. Apparently I picked a gel polish, which I didn't realize because there are ZERO signs identifying what kind of polish you're choosing. The nail tech did not clarify or ask to make sure I wanted to use gel. Needless to say I was very surprised when she said the cost was $48. When I suggested to the manager/owner that they should really put up signs so people know what polish they're picking, he got VERY huffy with me, rolling his eyes, was totally obnoxious. Essentially suggesting I should have known, even though all the polishes looked alike. A nice beginning quickly turned very disappointing and I will never go back if that's the way they treat their customers. A simple, "We're very sorry for the misunderstanding" would have gone a LONG way. read more

Sadly, I came here with an open Mind to find my new "go to" nail place. Unfortunately I was terribly disappointed! My gel manicure & pedicure lasted only 3 days! This has never happened to me. Pedicures usually last so long. And Gel manicures are always great Except this place. They did a poor job! Do NOT spend your money here it seems they water down their products. The staff is not friendly . I had a young male who was very brief with his words. I thought maybe there was a language barrier but he actually spoke good English. I've been going to Nails on Riverdale (Fieldston Road location) since they opened. This is by far the best nail salon I've ever experienced. Friendly, professional, great services and prices and most important clean and sanitized. Jayden is the best but all nail technicians are excellent. I highly recommend this place! If I could give it half or 0 I would. My nail broke clean off after 2 days and it was hard gel which never is supposed to happen. With hard gel you are only supposed to have a fill in and no redo for a year. I had pictures of the day of because looking at my nail I had a feeling this could happen. The nail was not prepped correctly And the owner came in to "help". Really what they did was rush the process to get me out fast and take my money. I wish I had a picture of how they were placing the hard gel . Do not waste your hard earned money here , they don't care about quality they just make it look decent to then have it break off so they can charge you more. Ridiculous! I've been searching for a nail salon that does quality work in my area for a while and every single place I've been to either had horrible service or my nails would look horrible immediately even with powder dip or gel manicures. That is until I found nails on Riverdale. I went I'm yesterday and got an SNS ombre manicure by Summer. She was very kind, took her time and even redid a couple nails because she didn't like how it came out. I love how my nails came out. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because it did take a long time, but I honestly prefer that than someone rush through and not do a good job. This will now be my go to nail salon for the foreseeable future. I will update my review with how long my manicure lasts. I'm guessing it will be about 3 weeks because the girl getting her nails done next to me had said it was 3 weeks for her and her nails still looked in tack. read more

It was a very clean place. Average gel manicure job. They didn't have samples of the colors like most places have to see the color, not just in the bottle, but painted on a nail. I picked a color and it was nothing like what I thought it would be so I had to switch colors which I'm not too upset about but disappointed. It was really nothing special. Nice staff. This place is SO expensive for a very standard experience you can get anywhere. My pedicure was $22, which is already expensive, but that doesn't include any massage! I was told my feet wouldn't be massaged unless I spent an extra $10 for a 10 minute foot massage. When you include tip my pedicure was almost $40, which is kind of unbelievable for an extremely average experience (this is not a fancy place). I absolutely will not return. read more

I used to come here often when I was in high school, and Angela and/ or Joe would do an amazing job. However, I had no time to wait and went to a random nail tech who did the absolute opposite of what I asked. I wanted square shape but some came out crooked and some came out coffin shaped. I gave her the benefit of the doubt to fix it with the file after she finished with the actual acrylic work but continued to disappoint me. The step before washing my hands then painting she cut me three times and it stung so bad I literally started crying lol. I was so unhappy and the other nail technicians saw the situation and offered for me to go to Angela who had just finished with another client. I would have had her fix the job if I wasn't on a time limit (she was busy when I first walked in which is why I didn't go to her in the first place). Nails on Riverdale has been my go-to nail salon for months and I usually go about every 3 weeks. I am almost always extremely happy with the quality of the manicure I get (there was one time where the shape of my nails came out pretty bad, but I let it slide, I don't expect any place to be absolutely perfect all of the time). Today the nail tech completely ruined my nails. Not the polish, not the shape, ALL OF MY ACTUAL NAILS. I came in with gel polish that I asked to have removed and that I would do regular polish today. I was told it would cost $6 just for the gel polish removal. Totally fine. Throughout the filing process of this manicure (to remove the gel and to shape the nails) the nail tech was very rough with my nails and I saw pretty immediately that she had broken one significantly. She proceeds to glue it. I then noticed another nail looked chipped or broken. She agrees that it is broken and points to another that has been broken. There is no point in me leaving with multiple broken nails only held together by glue, so at this point I tell her I no longer want the nail polish, don't want her to do any additional filing or shaping, nor anything else to my nails. No sorry, no nothing, she rings me up at the register and tells me the "manicure" costs $10 (so, $6 to remove the gel polish and $4 to BREAK MY NAILS). I will never go back. read more

I've gone to different nail salons. But this has been the worst one. Rush jobs The worst pedicure ive done has been in this place. When they are done, they move you to the drying area and forget about you after you pay but they don't forget to ask for the tip(which i thought was voluntary). They are also expensive which makes it more disappointing, because I don't mind paying for quality work. I put tips on but not even to remove them will i be going back. I had too many disappointing experiences where nails cuticles were bleeding due to poor manicure job to rush work and lack of perfection in all of their services overall. First of all compared to some nail salons, this "Nails on Riverdale" (which monopolizes major part of the neighborhood) is nonchalant, with for most if not all very cold employees. I am tired of entering their salon locations and not getting some smily faces, some warmth, some welcoming signs. So this week,t I made a decision to never go back... Instead I go to North Riverdale and Enjoyed a perfect manucure with out feeling rush out, It Is LEE 's NAIL on Riverdale Ave by post office. The place is so clean! I mentioned these nails were for Halloween and he put a spider design and pumpkin design on my ring fingers. I am going on a cruise next week and I just needed a basic pedicure, which is 17.10, a french is $4 more. I decided on the french, well the place is ok, filled with mostly old snooty women, the employees were ok. A gentleman did my pedi, which was nothing spectacular at all, he was too rough when he was massaging my legs and when he asked if he was hurting me, to which I replied "yes" he just stopped. I have been a client of this salon and their three stores for many years. Never had a problem. Mostly everybody is friendly and they do a good joob with manicures and pedicures. However, I decided to get my eyelashes extensions done in one of their stores. I have been getting my eyelashes extensions in the city for more than 2 years. At this point I know what kind of extensions I need, the curve and shape. As soon as I got to Nail & Spa on Riverdale, I asked the lady what was she putting on my eyes. She had just three different types of eyelashes and I had to go with one of those. I had some eyelashes left from my previous extensions and she cut them instead of taking them off!!! She didn't put any pads around my eyes before she started working on my extensions. After a few minutes and once she said "OK, all done!", she gave me the mirror... Horror!!! Looked like I had 4 eyelashes put on each one of my eyes. So I asked her, "what do you mean you are all done?, where are the rest of the eyelashes?", and she said, "that's it. There are 18 eyelashes on each eye and that is $120." FYI: In the city you pay the same amount for 100/120 eyelashes. I almost fainted! I don't mind paying for what is fair, but at that point I felt being robbed in daylight. I told her I wasn't going to pay that amount of money for 36 eyelashes, meaning $ 3,3 for each eyelash!!! So I called Viona, one of the ladies at the 235th store and she couldn't give me a solution, so she called Lisa, the owner of the store and she called me back. Basically she tried to convinced me how their eyelashes are different from the rest of the eyelashes in the whole entire world and that's why I had to pay $3,3 per eyelash. To make the story short, I had to pay $120, which I wouldn't mind if I was given the right service, but I didn't. Nail & Spa on Riverdale lost a client forever (and my circle of friends). My friend and I walked in on a rainy Wednesday, just past noon. We asked for gel manicures, and we were very happy until about 1pm, when my friend's manicurist ansered the phone. He left a chip in her nails under the top coat, completely ignoring it was there even though we both saw it was there. My manicurist left so much nail polish uder my nails that I went home and scraped it out myself. Each manicure cost over $40, not including tip. I'm a regular here. Staff is consistently polite, attentive to detail, takes your your requests seriously. If something isn't the way you wanted, they'll fix it for free. You'll never get a bad attitude from anyone. Prices are reasonable for the quality of service. Gel manis are $35. I wish they were cheaper.
