Noticed my review in Google Maps isn't showing, stay away from this place. I've tried a few nail salons in the Riverdale area, and unfortunately the experience is consistently disappointing. I usually drive to the Heights for services because I know I'll receive quality care there, but this weekend I decided to stay local -- and I regret it. The reviews mentioned Peter, but my experience with him was far from positive. While doing my pedicure, he called over coworkers and made comments in their language. One of them even looked down at my feet and laughed along with the others. It was very clear they were making fun of me, which left me feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable. No customer should ever feel mocked during a service. On top of that, the pedicure itself felt rushed and careless. I did my nails Friday by Saturday they were already chipped. He barely scrubbed my feet, and I had to ask him to address my cuticles properly. For a service I was paying for, the effort and professionalism just weren't there. Overall, the experience was unprofessional, rude, and disappointing. I would not recommend this salon. read more

I have been to this nail salon before and never loved it, but it's convenient, so I go. This time was so unpleasant that I truly have no interest in going back. I sat down in the chair to get my nails done at 1:55 PM and was paying at 2:11. During this time Mollie was applying gel polish to my nails. She starts by asking me if I can grow my nails. I explained I'm a nail biter, but I am trying to stop. She then rolls her eyes and proceeds to aggressively push back my cuticles and visible hurt me. She then applies the polish and tells me it's not good. I explain I have gotten this exact color before and it needs three coats, but I like how it looks. She simply says "no" and then stops every passing nail tech to show them my nails. When she finished applying the polish she scrolled on her phone as my nails dried under the UV light. When the drying process was complete she did not touch up any of the polish that got on my skin, she did not wipe the sticky layer off with alcohol, and the concluding massage consisted of her slapping my back for 2 minutes. I went to pay and Mollie checked me out. I pulled out my card and she asked if I had cash. I said I'd be paying with card. She then asked how much I was tipping. I truly was not going to tip, but since I was so uncomfortably put on the spot I told her $3. She got upset and asked a number of times "only $3?" I'd like to start off my review by saying I'm not shocked, but am certainly disgusted at the level of ignorance and outright racism in posts that are deemed as reviews for a business that does nails. Living in this community for over 10 years, you become well aware of the privilege and racism, judgement and fear based living that comes along with it, and many of these reviews do an excellent job of highlighting that. I've been going to Nails on Riverdale for over 5 years, and in that time have found my tech. His name is David, and he is AMAZING. He's always available, on time, knows exactly what I want, remembers the shape I love, and takes his time and is kind. Plus, he knows how to take care of my natural nails and keep them strong and healthy - super important to me. They recently got hard gel which I've been asking them about for years because it lasts so much longer, and the colors are out of this world. Sure it's a little pricey - welcome to Riverdale. David's pedicures are the best I've had since moving from LA. I usually do the CBD spa pedicure and I'm in the chair for a mani and pedi for 2.5.3 hours, so I'm not sure who's being rushed. I feel something else needs to be said here: The staff at Nails on Riverdale aren't rude; they're simply reacting to the constant treatment they receive from almost every customer who walks through their doors, which I've seen at every appointment. How long can you expect someone to keep smiling at their customers when their customers are curt, rude, don't speak, demanding, and super disrespectful? If you think $9 tip on $198 service is acceptable (I saw this last time I was there), what kind of customer service to you expect? I've had nothing but kind and pleasant experiences with every tech there - it's amazing what happens when you smile and ask questions and actually treat people like humans instead of your slaves. So I visited this place with my daughter and I was very much impressed. We've moved to this neighborhood about 7months ago and have been looking for a good neighborhood nail salon. I read lots of Bad Yelp reviews and this has been the reason I have not visited this nail salon. Boy was I wrong. They were very nice and greated us with a smile and we got seated right away for a reg mani/pedi and mind you it was a Friday afternoon like about 3pm. Sofi was the lady that took care of me, she was great, very pleasant & just a nice person to talk to. I will definitely go back again & make this my new nail salon. Thank you Nails On Riverdale. Came here for a mani pedi and I had Angela as my technician. The pedicure was fine but I had gel on my hands and Angela intensely filed my nails down in order to get the gel off and then charged me extra for doing so. Another one of the technicians chimed in saying that the extra charge was normal at all salons which I have never experienced. My nails suffered severely from the intense filing with the filing machine. I do not recommend this place mainly because the nail care was not good nor was the customer service as it seemed like they did not care for the nails and primarily cared for getting your money. 5 stars for the pedicure, I did the spa pedi...the foot rub was awesome and the girl did a really thorough job in general... $42 for a pedicure with all the bells and whistles isn't wholly unreasonable either. I think it's stupid that New York bans the use of pumice stones...something as a Connecticut transplant I need to get used to, but I digress... I got upselled (upsold?) into a 10 minute chair massage after...which at the time seemed great...to border on TMI, it was that time of the month and when you're all crampy and sore coupled with being all tense in general, a massage sounds like the perfect thing. (Ladies, you know exactly what I mean...) Like I said, at the time, the massage seemed great...she dug in where it seemed like I needed it and it felt good at the time...fast forward to a half an hour later (and now a day later...) I get home and sit down on the couch, and it hurts to even touch my back to the back of the couch...and my back is still super tender to the touch. Next time I'll skip the chair massage. There's a few other places in the neighborhood I need to check out before I make a definitive choice, but this place seems to be a decent replacement for my go to now that I've moved. read more

This was my first time at this salon, I came in for a gel manicure. The salon is brand new and beautiful, super clean, however I did not enjoy my manicurist William. He was very rough overall, he didn't listen to me when I told him I didn't want my cuticles cut too much or pushed. I had to say multiple times please do not cut too much. When switching the nail dryer my hand would be still in it as he was moving it to the other hand, again very rough. I would try the salon again but only with another manicurist. read more

Glad I took a chance on this place. It was just too convenient of a location not to give it a try. I wanted to really treat myself, and it's been forever since I've had a pedicure done so I wanted all the bells and whistles. Said yes to everything. Spa pedicure? check. Callus removal? Check. I'm a Westchester girl so was expecting a hefty price tag (the only price lists are at the front of the store and I didn't bother to ask the costs), but again -- it was a treat so whatever. Final bill? $53.50 plus tip. Amazing! Pedicure was great, they soaked my calluses before removal with some kind of gel treatment so it didn't tickle or feel painful. Super relaxing. I came in on a Tuesday around 11am, so no wait. Around noon there was a bit of a build up but no one seemed to wait that long. Comfortable little place, clean, friendly. I really like this place. For the most part they do exactly what it is you want to be done. I don't rate it a 5 only because sometimes when I go in on weekends you can tell that SOME, not all, employees are rushing to finish u to get to others. Weekends obviously are pretty busy on weekends starting Fridays. So just remember that. But overall man, my gel manicures last for a long time. I've got my feet done a couple times there. It's cool, just wish they would scrub the heels a tad bit more. But yea. I would recommend this spot read more

Came here for a manicure with my 4 yo daughter. First, no one could tell me how long I would have to wait. "Soon," I was told, and then flat-out ignored.When I finally got some attention I asked how much a kid's manicure was and was told it was full price. That's insane - all they do it rub lotion on her hands and put polish on. Literally no place charges the same for a kid's manicure. When I asked whether I could be charged less, the manager (a very petite woman) looked straight at me and said, You can pay what you want. Great! I planned on paying $5 for the manicure with a $5 tip (and full price + tip for mine). So obviously at the end they charged me full price for both. When I pointed out that the manager had told me that I could pay less, magically no one knew what I was talking about. The manager had left and no one believed me. I tried to argue about it but no one believed me (even after another customer told the employee that I was being truthful) and it was super embarrassing. I came here for a manicure/pedicure. The technician suggested I get the callus removed and mentioned it was $8 extra. I agreed and the pedicure came out really good. Just got a pedicure here. The staff was very friendly. They had a good selection of nail colors. I didn't experience any of their extra options but am very satisfied with my regular pedicure. I was here 8 months ago and hated it. Today pressed on time I decided to give it a second chance.... once I was seated I had flashbacks of how upset I left the first time. As a working mom you sometimes want to treat yourself. This is not the place for that. I asked for a regular manicure and a tip on my thumb nail. The staff appears rushed and no one was particularly friendly. Mandy worked quickly and sloppily on my thumb and spilled the glue all over my skin, which burns. She filed the corners of the nail awkwardly and the finished look was bumpy and obviously fake. I paid for my manicure and my sister's and tipped both techs because I don't like to be rude. I returned later in the day to ask her to buff the uneven nail and she wiped off the nail polish and tried to paint it again without fixing it. I insisted she fix it and then left as soon as I could pretend to be satisfied. The entire time she was talking with the other techs and laughing. I felt terrible being there. Went here because my usual place, Nail Island, was closed. Never again. Bad, sloppy, rushed, service. Didnt ask for anything extra since it was 6p and I did not want to go past their closing time of 7.30 but there was enough time for a regular pedi and gel mani. She was rushing and sloppy. We finished at 7.15p, 15 minutes before closing time so not sure why she was so rushed. I gave her a 15 tip for a 56 dollar service and she didnt even take the time to wrap my toes, saw two technicians doing that for another customer. Never again!!!! I rather have crummy nails then to go their again. Nail Island is sooo much better, nails would be flawless, and they take their time to wrap your nails and just better technicians overall. Their ratings is a 4/5 not 3/5 like this place. And I suspect that it will continue to go lower. read more

One of the worst manicures I have ever had , it's obvious that this salon is using its prime location to rest on its laurels by offering horrible service. Right when I walked in a man was standing at the door rushing me to pick a color then once I did he was yelling in Korean with the owner what to charge me. He worked hastily leaving polish around my cuticles. I came back five minutes later and asked them to redo the service- they refused but cleaned up the paint on my cuticles. I went for a manicure and pedicure. The person that worked on me spent very little time. The pedicure was very quick- before I knew it, she was done. No cream, no massage, no callus removal. Also, she used a towel on my feet, then wiped her hands with it, and then used it on my feet...not very good hygiene. If you're black this is not the salon for you. On Wednesday, November 22, 2017, I stopped in for a pedicure. I was told by Tony right away I headed to the back and Tony stopped went to the front of the salon and came back and said it would take 10 minutes. That was fine, I needed to stop at the dry cleaners. When I returned I didn't see Tony so I went to the back and sat for about after 5-7 minutes he didn't appear so I inquired, and I was told by one on the girls working on another client that their other location was busy so the boss sent him to the other salon. She stated I should speak to the owner. I walked up front and spoke to Viona ( whom I later learned was the owner's sister) she was rude and disrespectful, she didn't even bother to look up while speaking to me. I inquired on Tony's whereabouts and she stated I took more than 10 minutes so she send him to their other location. It was then that I realized she had stopped him when I walked in the first time. So I asked so what happens now she said ( still not looking at me) you have to wait I asked her to look at me when she speaks to me, there was an undeniable edge in her voice. What she did next confirmed my thoughts, she rolled her eyes and sucked her teeth as if discussed by may request for common courtesy. I asked her not to be disrespectful and how long ( be mindful its between 6pm and there was no one waiting) she said it will be awhile but her response was as if I was annoying her. I'm no fool I know when I'm being discriminated against so I politely headed to the back to get my coat and left. There was another women ( white women may I add) that I had spoke to briefly while waiting and she observed the entire ordeal we both stepped outside and said that was B.S, while speaking to her outside another white women walked in and she was greeted politely, need I say more I will be submitting this to DCA for further review. *the one star is for decor read more

this place used to be good, unfortunately it has gone way downhill. Yesterday I had a manicure pedicure lip, chin and eyebrow wax. The wax was too hot and burnt my left eyelid. Pedicure was okay. She asked whether I wanted massage ---which used to be part of the pedicure cost and is now extra $10 for ten minutes.
