I was so excited to be able to come back and have Helen do my nails after being gone many years. I arrived a little after opening and Helen had a client. I asked her for a full set and showed her my ideas. She said she was full today and I would need to make an appointment. Seeing that two other techs were not busy I asked if they would be able to do my set. She said no we are appointment only. When I mentioned the walk in welcome sign she said that oh yea sometimes walk in welcome but not today sorry make an appointment. Her work in the past (when she was new) was good and she was so kind. I would never recommend getting a pedicure from the salon. For whatever reason she chose to use the electric file on the top of my nail beds not the tip but the top and filed my entire nail off my toe. She never asked if I wanted my toenails cut down three of my toenails were long and beautiful and her cut down to the knobs. They are all different shapes different lengths and the managers suggestion was we can leave it and you only pay half or we can paint it and you pay full price read more

The worst nail salon I've ever been to. I'm writing this in the parking lot. I have never once in my life not tipped someone until I came here.... Very rude customer service. The worst pedicure and toe paint everywhere. The massage I paid extra for was just a two min soft rub down on my legs, not even my feet. She has paint all over my toes and gaps in the paint that are see through....the lady neisha who did my nails was so rude and impersonal. My nails are thick, lumpy, misshaped. She did an awful French tip that I was just going to suck it up and accept but then the paint started cracking black! She said it's probably just the paint, she's never saw that. Then proceeded to paint my nails with more! I asked her to take the paint off and I'll sadly wear plain nails and she had an attitude about that. No apology or solution. It was all just awful. I usually go to nail salons dressed up and feel I get overcharged because of it so today i went dressed down without a purse and feel like they stereotyped me and gave me bad service. read more

I've given this place several shots to change my mind. I've finally decided I will no longer come to this place. The atmosphere is very relaxing BUT the customer service is not up to par. I'm not picky at all when it comes to my nails, I go short and simple. I went 2 days ago and my nail is already broken. The prices are changed at their convenience. If you ask for something specific they start being rough and rush through your service. I'm very dissatisfied. Nails look great but do not pay extra for an upgraded pedicure for the extra massage unless you clarify how long of a massage. Massage was minimal at 2 mins. I was jealous of the girl next to me getting a nice long massage! I'll be going back to see her tech, Peter. read more

To start with pedi chair is very uncomfortable for a short person and the water (in which I've been soaking for 25 minutes) barely makes it as lukewarm. Four techs are working hard, little chit chat, but I am uncomfortable so am running out of patience. Later, on the actual pedi experience - basic. Very basic. Polish off. Nails trimmed and buffed - so short they hurt. Feet very lightly "sanded" (there must be a better word). A bit of lotion. Polish. All very functional, very fast. I've been meaning to write a review for quite some time. Nails by Mai is hands down, the best ail salon I have been to in SA since I came here a year ago. I have tried several nail salons, but none of them top the quality, service and value of Nails by Mai. Let me start off by saying that anything over $40 for a mani/pedi is ridiculous to ...especially when the polish s chipping, bubbling up or cracking within a few days. Prior to Nails by Mai, I had been to several nail salons where I overpaid for fancy named manicures and deluxe pedicures, blah...blah...blah, only to have my nails look like crap by mid week. Every time I go to Nails by Mai (I was just there yesterday), I am impressed by the level of service I receive, A mani/pedi is $39. My manicures last almost 2 full weeks with no chipped polish. You can't beat that! The salon is clean, the staff is friendly and they take their time. After a year long search, I have found my nail salon in SA! read more

I've gone here twice for french manicures: once for my engagement shoot and another for my friend's wedding. To save time, I call ahead and make an appointment. Service is usually pretty prompt, and my nails always leave looking fabulous. The time, detail, and precision by the employees here are definitely worth the $15, and my polish looks great for at least a week. Did I mention excellent customer service? While putting my car key into the ignition, I accidentally nicked my polish and returned to the salon embarrassed. The lady immediately fixed it up (although it was past closing time) without questions and sent me on my merry way. This is by far one of the cleanest nail salons that I have ever been to. There isn't a lot of people who come here but apparently enough for them to pay the bills. I like that there is never a wait, and I always see them sanitizing the the foot soak stations which are very nice and new. Some of the technicians are talkative, some keep to themselves. read more

I went to Nails by Mai on Saturday 8/23/14 for a pedicure, and 16 hours later I was in the EMERGENCY ROOM for a SEVERE INFECTION. The ER doc said it was good I came in when I did, as they prescribed a very heavy dose of antibiotics to kill the infection, and recommended soaking my feet often. It was horribly painful, and a rather scary experience. Thank goodness I am otherwise healthy, as I should be just fine, but others might not be so lucky (i.e. pregnant women, the elderly, people with compromised immune systems....) PLEASE REVISIT HOW YOU SANITIZE YOUR EQUIPMENT BECAUSE IT IS CLEARLY NOT WORKING OUT FOR YOU OR YOUR CUSTOMERS! I spoke with an associate Tuesday 8/26 and they didn't seem to care one bit. This leads me to believe this is a phone call they get often. SCARY! read more

All employees wear gloves and mask when they work with you. There is also amazing massage chairs for you to enjoy while getting your pedicure. The price is also fair. About $27 for a pedicure. i stopped in here quickly after leaving where I get my alterations done next door on a whim (also yelped it) and it was pretty good. I got the "deluxe" pedicure. A woman immediately put me in a chair with water but it wasn't very hot, I waited about twenty minutes but when the woman finally came over she really did a good job. I am always nervous about pedicures and manicures because I don't really get them very often and by the time I do I am in pretty bad shape so it hurts before it feels good, you know? The woman definitely got all the excess skin out. It was sort of like getting a wax, it hurts in the process but by the time its over its worth it. The pedicure was normal, she did cover my legs in some sort of salt and lotion and then a hot towel (which was the deluxe part, about ten dollars more I think). Once that concoction was on I felt great. The polish was great. Everyone in there was very friendly. There was no vibe at all that you were being talked about. In fact, it was very quiet. The women were constantly cleaning which was very nice to see. I mean, immediately after she buffed my feet and I was soaking, she was sterilizing the buffer. I tipped 7 dollars and I think it was 47 total. I think it was a little over priced for it being "deluxe", I expected more. But for a last minute and walk in I would go back. I really appreciated how friendly they were. There were also regulars who came in, which is always nice to see. I'm sure the next time I'm in need and driving by I will probably pop in but wont go for the deluxe because it just wasn't worth it for the price. read more

The owner Mai did my nails. We we're doing a new set. First she starts trying to rip off my old set without soaking them. I kept telling her it was hurting and had to ask her to please soak them. She reluctantly did so. I told her the place I had gone to I only had to refill every six weeks. Well lo and behold two weeks later four of them are coming off. She won't fix them and told me to go back to the place I used to go to because she only does her refills every two weeks which basically says to me "my work isn't quality enough to get you past two weeks". That's crap. I paid $50 for crap work. Will never set foot in there again. If someone tells you to go back to old salon you better believe they don't care about you or their work they do. read more

Not happy with my nails by Mai. They were chipping at the edges within three days and all had broken off before two weeks. That's never happened to me before!! Usually my nails stay on for a month or more till i take them off. Also Mai was nice but when she finished my nails i asked for nail art and she said she was too busy and shooed me out.
