Came there for nail polishes. Opened them, tried, do not cure, they were expired, as it appeared; bring it back to the store - owners are telling that they have no refund policy. As per state law, they are allowed to do so if they have it written somewhere. And they do, but on other language. Ridiculous, not coming back. And do not get nail polishes there - overpriced ridiculously (15 bucks per one?) and expired. The entirety of the store looks like it is from temu or AliExpress, so if you feel like it - just order stuff online, quality is the same. read more

The customer service here is disgusting. When I walked in the owner said, "you can only be in here if you're a certified nail technician." I told her "I don't have my cert with me but I can definitely pay if that's the real problem?" (because who carries that around everywhere??) Worst customer service ever! I'm a fluent Vietnamese speaker myself and I felt really offended today because of what one of the workers said. While looking at the OPI Gel Polishes, trying to determine which color I liked the best. One of the workers had the audacity to say "oh, the colors are really expensive, don't 'play' around with them like that." I really had to hold my tongue at that point and just left with what I had, I felt really disrespected and they're rude! Don't ever come here , the workers are also always watching over you like you're going to steal something. I felt belittle and he treated me like I was a child. Worst experience ever! read more

This place is like heaven. With a manicure. Don't let its appearance fool you. Yeah, it's slightly ghetto. But, as soon as you walk in, it's like being in nail polish heaven. I'm slightly obsessed with my nails. It's the one thing I inherited from my mom that I'm actually not ashamed of. I have healthy, strong, naturally-squared nails and I like taking care of them. Thus, I am addicted to OPI nail polish, and at $8.50 retail, the habit got expensive because I like changing nail colors weekly. My friend lives down the street and told me about this place. I walked in and was greeted immediately by a wall of literally hundreds of shades of OPI. I could hardly contain my giddiness. I thought I had died and gone to heaven when the girl working there told me the OPI was only $4.25. That's half price!!! I was buying them online for that price, but I had to pay for shipping and couldn't see the colors in person, so it was always hit-or-miss. Not only are the colors cheap, but they are all organized by number and they carry the NEWEST shades as well. I noticed OPI's just-released Holiday 2008 collection there. I decided to stock up and bought six shades. I'm sure I'll be back in a few weeks to pick up more. In addition to OPI, they also carry Essie, China Glaze, UVA lights, gels, creams, lotions, etc. etc. They even had pedicure chairs in the back. If you need nail stuff, you'd be an idiot not to come here! read more

I give it 4 stars for customer service, price & for the brand name nail polishes and the sOooooo many different shades they had.. Yes its a bit small, tight & dusty here & there but who cares when the prices are so amazing! This would of been a 5 but while checking out i had to use my debit card and the other sales associate was on the phone taking a very long order so i had to stand there for a bit until she was done. They shld of taken care of customers that are there in the store 1st than the one over the phone. Anywho.. I found China Glaze polish for $3 and other polishes for only $1-2.00 and OPI were only 4something.. Not only that i got so many polish and other stuff like nail decor: ( gems/glitter/confetti/design book ) that they gave me a discount on my nail polish. So my China Glaze each were 2.50 and Curious were 1.50 instead of $2.... Asian ppl are always up for a bargain =.) The prices/variety of polish are awesome and the customer service besides the check out.. They answered every question i asked and even conversated about my tattoo =./ I live about 30min away from Dorcester and work probably 15min away so i would stock up! Hope this helps.. read more

Love this place! Many top-shelf brands like Essie, OPI, China Glaze,... My friend and I were specifically looking for the most current colors of Essie (as of winter 2011) and they did not disappoint! $3.30/Essie bottle is amazing deal considering Target sells same color for $8! They do accept credit cards but with a minimum purchase of $50, then it's cash only. They also sell other nail accessories like nail tools, boxes to hold your tools in, but need to know what you're looking for b/c this place, although small, has lots in inventory. Opens M-Sun except Friday, 9am-8pm. We will be back for more colors! read more

One of the ladies behind the counter even got me a better cuticle pusher for a better price. As someone who uses gel polishes like OPI GelColors, Shellac, Gelish, Cacee, etc., I have looking for places to buy supplies locally instead of online. With polishes in particular, it is nice to able to see the colors, sheen and texture of products. So I was pleased to find Nails Bay ten minutes from my home. This is like a little supermarket for nail supplies. They have a lot and it is neat and properly organized. I should have been thrilled to find this place. But I'm not. This should be a five-star review. But it's not. First, they didn't have a few of the basic items I wanted and acted like I was silly for asking them. Granted, it was Sunday evening when the store is full with professionals loading up for the week, but it was hours before closing. Although no longer a professional nail tech, I do know how to act in this kind of establishment. Secondly, the owner followed me (either physically or with her eyes) through the store counting what I'd put it my basket. I like to browse, read labels, compare products and think about what I'm buying. I felt I could not do this here. Finally, when I got to the counter with my purchases, she asked me why I had 4 rather than 5 items - because I had put one back when she wasn't watching! I don't appreciate being treated like a thief in a business I patronize. Although I was wearing jeans, I was dressed no worse and probably a bit better than the other customers, so I was quite offended by her manner. Nails Bay is a nice store, great hours, neatly organized, but I will head down Dorchester Ave to Adams Street to Kelly's Nail Supply - a tiny, cluttered shop, but they have more brands, their prices are as good if not better, and they are helpful and respectful to ALL of their customers. read more

We bought a couple of the opi gel led machines here. The brand new white models. Within two weeks, three machines led light bulbs died. One of them about 90% of lights were completely out and the other two are missing about half of the lights now. We only brought one back to return since that one no longer is hot enough to dry any gel polish. Had a receipt and it was in the return period. The workers there even assured if anything went wrong we could bring them back for a replacement. Now they refuse to replace it and told us to contact the manufacturer. Opi refuses to reply to our emails even with the one year warranty on it. So we asked Nail Bay if we could just buy the led light bulbs for the machine. They dont sell them since the machine is not the kind you can even replace the bulbs. Do not buy the opi gel machines or any machinery from Nail Bay. In the long run the unbroken machines starting literally smoking after a year of use. The chargers even stopped working. Waste of money. read more

I've lived in Dorchester my whole life, so maybe I'm just used to being watched but when I read other reviewers saying they felt like a thief, I never got that vibe when I went in. Most of the times I've gone in, it wasn't crowded at all. The only time might have been when one of the older guys (I guess it's family-owned) told me (in Vietnamese, I had brought a bunch of my friends in and they were all Chinese) to not open the bottles. That might sound a little mean, but there's even signs that say that in drugstores, and that's just normal. Also, he didn't seem condescending and we were like nine Asian 18 year olds. Sometimes, the women at the front desk say something to me in Vietnamese, but I've also had a girl ask if I was looking for anything in particular in English. I came here to buy some gifts for friends and they were nice enough to give me cute packaging for the bottles! I think this is awesome, since their clientele is for nail salons really (who I see sometimes come away with whole trunk-fulls) and I only buy like 1-2 bottles every trip. The only thing that I'm really docking a star for is their inconsistent prices. At least, I feel they're inconsistent. While I'm generally sure a bottle will never be over $5 here, one time an OPI bottle was $4.50, yet a few days later I came back to pick up some topcoat which was $5. That's fine, since I never bought the topcoat from them before. Then I buy the same OPI bottle I had two days ago for my friend and the total comes out to be $10 (meaning the OPI bottle is $5--fyi, I think Viet places just work taxes into the prices because Viet customers don't like dealing with all that change I guess LOL). Maybe they just rounded it up because they didn't want to deal with change, but I'm still a little disappointed. I would've said something, but it was 50cents and I'm really averse to confrontation of any sort lol. There aren't any prices listed anywhere, so you'll have to ask them. They do have a lot of polishes, so I come here for my OPI and Essie fix. I haven't tried any of the other brands yet (and they don't carry more higher-end things like Zoya or Deborah Lippman, but I didn't expect them to, since this honestly caters towards nail salons). read more
