I went there due to my regular salon being unavailable and recommendation from my sister. Service was standard. However, I got a gel manicure and the very next day some.of my nails started peeling off. Secondly, two different people did my manicure and pedicure. Obviously, I would have to tip 2 people. I had already tip the pedicure lady even before the I started my nails. I give my tip to the manicure lady and the lady goes what about her? No tip? Sooooo rude and tacky. Plus she jacked my nails up and gone with the tip. I'll never go back here.

Gel manicure & spa peppermint pedicure

Wow wow wow amazing service and experience! I got a gel manicure and a peppermint spa pedicure today. Amazing!!! This is my first time getting a spa pedicure and it was worth every minute. Also complimentary water, coffee, and tea which is a wonderful bonus:)

This place is my go to for a relaxing nail experience! They're always so kind and do an amazing job. Jenny did my gel French manicure perfectly today, and even helped me pick a cute color for my tips! Thank you!!

Broken nail, ugly french design

I am sorry but it has been TWO days. I go to school in the area and I needed a place in the area. They messed up the first time and I let it slide. I went for a full acrylic set before going away on a trip and I did not like anything. My nail even broke off and I had to get them re-done on my trip. I went back and she gave me three fill-in manicures for free on a gift certificate. I needed a fill in and went in on Thursday. Today is Saturday and my nail just broke off. SERIOUSLY TWO DAYS??? She even charged me for this ugly french design even with the free fill-in....almost $20 for something i could have done at home. Not to mention, my cuticles are still shit and the shape inconsistent and garbage. I wasn't even doing anything that would have made it come off like that. I am going and getting my money back because I am furious. I wish I could give NEGATIVE stars. I hate this place and these people should not have their license. (NOT TO MENTION, I consider myself to be pretty flexible but these people are ridiculous. They are constantly changing employees and moving them around which results in nails that look completely different.)

Cracked skin

Update: it's been less than a week and my polish is badly chipped and two of my nails have broken. I typically go for a manicure once or twice a month but now I have to go twice in one week. Definitely never coming back.

It was fine. I had to get my nails and my feet done while I had a two hour break. Too expensive for a regular mani and pedi.

I get my nails done here all the time. I have a great experience every time. Today, I won a raffle to get my eyelashes extensions done.

Detailed Account of Negligent Service Formal Complaint…read moreRegarding Negligent Eyebrow Waxing Service and Subsequent Skin Damage Service Performed: Eyebrow Shaping and Waxing Time of Service: April 2025, Esthetician: T. Result: Severe skin damage requiring immediate medical attention, resulting in prolonged physical and professional inconvenience. During the service, I experienced clear indications of improper technique and negligent care: Excessive Heat: The applied beeswax felt excessively hot, indicating an improper temperature setting. Aggressive Removal: The removal of the wax sheet by the esthetician was noticeably aggressive and forceful. Immediate Pain & Acknowledgment: Immediately after the wax removal, I informed the esthetician, Treasure, that the areas above and between my eyebrows were extremely painful. Negligent Aftercare: I questioned whether a proper post-wax cleanser (such as rubbing alcohol) had been used. Treasure confirmed that "No" such cleanser was applied. I was only advised to use a generic ointment and Vitamin E oil. Upon returning home, the painful area above and between my eyebrows became severely red and inflamed. I subsequently confirmed that the skin in these blotches-on both sides above the brow and between the brows-had been physically lifted and removed (skin abrasion/burn). Current State of Injury: The damaged area has progressed from red to pink and is now a noticeable brown/hyperpigmented color. Permanent Damage: The injury to the skin, particularly above the left eyebrow, remains visible even after two professional consultations, indicating permanent damage and a high risk of long-term scarring. Personal and Professional Impact: I have been forced to stay indoors and rigorously avoid all sun exposure to prevent further hyperpigmentation. This has caused significant personal and professional inconvenience, including the cancellation of scheduled appointments. Initial In-Person Follow-Up: I returned to the salon to show the extent of the damage. I spoke with an employee named Emily, who confirmed the owner / manager was unavailable. Broken Financial Commitment: The business owner promised in written format to reimburse all current and future dermatology visit fees related to this injury. However, the owner failed to follow through on this commitment, and all subsequent attempts to contact them regarding payment have been ignored. Lack of Response to Third Party: I filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), but the business owner did not respond to the inquiry at all, demonstrating a profound lack of professionalism and accountability. This incident reflects a severe lapse in professional standards, commitment, and customer care. I have suffered a painful and lasting physical injury, permanent damage to my left eyebrow, and significant inconvenience due to the negligence of the esthetician and the subsequent failure of the business owner to uphold their financial commitment and basic professional responsibility.

If you're thinking about getting a gift certificate from here I would ask what the policy is. I was…read moregiven a gift certificate from a friend for my birthday that expired a week after it was given to me and didn't know that when I went to use it in November. They didn't tell me it was expired while I was there, let me use half of it, then crossed out the expiration date and made it a date in expire 10/30/25. I was unaware they back-dated it because I was in a hurry to put it in my pocket since I was in rush. Fast forward to today, I went to use it and obviously it wasn't honored because of that new date. I understand that it expired and of course I'm fine not using it since it's completely my fault. It was just the most bizarre experience because 1. No one mentioned it was expired the first time I was there (which I would have been fine paying for my pedicure if someone explained that to me instead writing in a new date so couldn't use it again) Also I'm just not sure why they would give me back a gift certificate that I can't use anymore or never mention that it was expired. 2. What kind of place has a 1 week or 1 month expiration date? (Thinking about it I'm wondering if it the date a typo since it was handwritten because most places around here have a 1 year expiration date when I buy them or am gifted them.) Also my nails were different lengths and the polish I used developed white spots on top (it was a light purple) With so many wonderful places in Montclair, I would definitely consider buying a gift certificate somewhere else with a longer expiration date, a more clear policy, or somewhere that will take the time to explain these dates and policies if you have an issue like I did if you are looking to purchase a gift.

Melissa always does a wonderful job and as I've told her, I won't let anyone else touch my hair! Getting highlights in the past is usually a grueling 2 hours sitting in the chair... Melissa got mine done in an hour and I'm so happy with the color. On top of this, I got a cut and blowout. The three services combined were $215, which is 100% fair and worth it compared to other salons in the area that don't give half the service or satisfaction. I love 212 and will never go anywhere else!

In the past, my verbal descriptions and magazine pictures of the haircut I wanted just didn't seem to help. To be fair, some cuts came close, but in most cases, once I washed my hair, I couldn't make it look like the original cut. However, after I get a cut at Salon 212, my haircut falls into place day after day until the next cut. In addition, I get many compliments wherever I go! And, as if all that weren't enough, despite this salon being upscale, the professional and non-professional staff are all extremely down to earth and nice. I can't think of one thing that would improve my experience there. I've never seen anyone walk out of Salon 212 with anything less than spectacular looking hair!
