Utopia Nails is by far the best place in Montclair to get your nails done! I have been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. I get my manicures from Jennifer, who is incredibly sweet and has done beautiful, intricate, and impressive designs on my nails. Patty, the owner, is also wonderful. She once gave me an umbrella and walked me to my car in the pouring rain. Everyone who works here is very kind and they will treat you with the utmost respect. The facility is also kept very clean, and I felt very safe getting my nails done there throughout COVID. I can't stress enough how fantastic of a spot Utopia Nails is. read more

My first experience with a regular Mani/Pedi was so good I returned for a second time. This was a vastly different experience. Called ahead for an appt and had the mani 1st because pedi chairs were occupied. Totally fine. Mani finished and was asked to wait for pedi chair. Now regulars, with later appts, arrive and are seated in the pedi chairs. Was prepared to leave the 4th time that occurred and was called to the back, different area, literally back of the house. Went ahead with the pedi (to match my mani) and after settling the tab looked around for the technicians to tip. 1st chair in the front has her pedi started by the technician that just finished my pedi. Odd. Was I made to wait and seated in the back because I was not a regular? one of the few clients masked (all staff were)? or the only client at the time who is person of color? Overall unpleasant experience. No plans to return. Do better. read more

I love this place. All of the women that work there are incredibly nice & professional. It is always clean & sanitized properly. I have tried lots of salons and have yet to find a better place than this! I recommend calling ahead for an appointment because sometimes it gets busy. As I am sitting in the pedicure chair disgusted - I write this review . I used to come to Utopia on a weekly basis for pedicures and gel manicures. I liked it because it was clean, but a bit overpriced and although it is Asian owned, you were treated kindly without the constant speaking in another language in your presence ( Like Seinfeld episode with Elaine). After becoming a steady customer and having a regular pedicure girl, and always tipping her over 20% , but her work became shotty, and actually painful. I stopped going and found another salon which was cheaper, and did a fine job . I happened to be in the area today and came in for a pedicure after not coming for probably almost 2yrs. The girl giving me the pedicure did not speak English and could not understand a dam thing when I was telling her she was being too rough, until I finally yelled "OUCH". She scraped the side off foot too hard. She continued and then a few minutes later again ..."OUCH" - the other foot. The owner came over and switched her with another girl. But then proceeded to carry on in Korean or whatever they speak. Rude. Never apologized to me or came and checked my feet. Should have comp'ed my pedicure. Won't ever go back. Beginning to wonder if all the girls are licensed or if they are getting fake documents. read more

I have been looking for a salon in the area for awhile since moving here and I can't even begin to describe my experience, but I will!!! I was going to get a regular manicure to try this place out but then I changed my mind because it costs 5 dollars more to take the gel polish I currently had on. I was greeted by a man at the front desk and seated immediately, which I might add he even held the chair out for me. The girl who did my nails her name was Ellie did an amazing job and I might add her nails were so beautiful I decided to paint mine her color as well. Best hand and shoulder massage I've ever had. Ellie's attention to detail is amazing and I will be a regular customer going forward. So thrilled to have found a salon that's modern, clean and comfortable. I've been going to this salon for quite some time and because of the high prices stopped for a year or so. Recently I decided to go back after my new nail tech didn't have an appointment and I needed to get my nails ASAP. Jennifer did my nails...brand new gel set on May 1, 2018. On May 11, my nails started lifting from the cuticle on May 13, my nails started popping off after I paid $128 for this set and a pedicure. When I called, they didn't even attempt to help me. Instead they wanted me to come in 2 days later. Never again! read more

I had been to this nail salon a few times and found their services to be fairly good. However, I went there today for a manicure and pedicure and had a terrible experience and will not be returning. I got to the nail salon around 6pm (the location closes at 7:30pm). I was taken right away and received my pedicure first. When the technician was finishing my manicure she made a comment that she was going to use the "quick dry" top coat as I was the last client left. It was not even 7pm at this time and all of the employees were in complete shop shut-down mode cleaning and stocking the salon. I understand wanting to get out on time but the shop does not close until 7:30pm and they still had 45 mins of operating time. I would have just ignored her comment and the frantic cleaning by the employees but I was then moved to the drying station where after 5 mins another employee came over, checked my pedicure and stated that it was dry. She then proceeded to wrap my feet in baggies and put my shoes back on for me. She then say "okay bye, thank you". She never even checked to see if my manicure was dry. I left because I felt uncomfortable but my nails were still tacky and I smudged two getting into my car. I ended up just taking off the nail polish when I got home. There are a ton of nail salons in Montclair to choose from, I will not be back to this one. read more
