They didn't tell me it was expired while I was there, let me use half of it, then crossed out the expiration date and made it a date in expire 10/30/25. I was unaware they back-dated it because I was in a hurry to put it in my pocket since I was in rush. Fast forward to today, I went to use it and obviously it wasn't honored because of that new date. I understand that it expired and of course I'm fine not using it since it's completely my fault. It was just the most bizarre experience because 1. No one mentioned it was expired the first time I was there (which I would have been fine paying for my pedicure if someone explained that to me instead writing in a new date so couldn't use it again) Also I'm just not sure why they would give me back a gift certificate that I can't use anymore or never mention that it was expired. 2. What kind of place has a 1 week or 1 month expiration date? (Thinking about it I'm wondering if it the date a typo since it was handwritten because most places around here have a 1 year expiration date when I buy them or am gifted them.) Also my nails were different lengths and the polish I used developed white spots on top (it was a light purple) With so many wonderful places in Montclair, I would definitely consider buying a gift certificate somewhere else with a longer expiration date, a more clear policy, or somewhere that will take the time to explain these dates and policies if you have an issue like I did if you are looking to purchase a gift.

I especially appreciated the mini massage that she gave me on my shoulders as I waited for my nails to dry! I have to say that I got a way better mani/pedi than ones that I've gotten at a certain large salon/spa in Montclair for half the price ($26!!). Needless to say, this alone would have been enough to make me come back. But what happened AFTER my services is what really will keep me coming back... Like a moron, I left my engagement ring in the ring keeper after I got my heavenly hand massage. This wasn't just any ring. It once belonged to my husband's grandmother. So, as you can guess, it's pretty invaluable in a sentimental kind of way. Of course, I didn't realize the ring was missing until that evening. Frantic, I tried to retrace my steps, thinking about where I could have lost it. I finally realized that it must have been at the nail salon. As you can imagine, I had a fitful night of sleep that evening! I arrive at the salon the next morning - a full 24 hours after I had left it - thinking for sure that it wouldn't be there. It was. I got my first set of acrylic tips and nails a few weeks ago. I went this past Sunday to get a fill in and there are apparently only a couple of techs in this salon do acrylic nails. The girl that did my nails was not the person that normally does my gel manicures. The manager/owner assured me that this nail tech was very good. When I sat down I told her that I did not want gel on top of my acrylic because I noticed she had a bottle of gel nail color and she said OK. Then she told me it was going to be $70 for a fill-in and I almost fell out of my chair. I've never paid more than $30-$40 tops. I asked her again are you sure you charge $70 for a regular acrylic nail fill and she said yes. I didn't want to cause a scene so I just sat there and let her do my nails at a premium which is ridiculous. Plus she put gel on my nails after I specifically told her I did not want it. She had quite an attitude with me as well. I really should have requested a refund or gotten up and left but I didn't. So after almost a year of having pleasant experiences I will no longer go to this salon. To have been charged that amount of money for a simple fill in is ludicrous and they should understand that there are nail salons pretty much on every corner that people can choose to go to. She gave me a choice of cashmere (+$10) or mink lashes. This was my second time getting lash extensions in general and I wanted to try the mink lashes before going more luxurious with cashmere lashes. I'm really happy with the mink lashes so far. They're perfect, not too much and not too less, just right. They also clear my glasses. The lashes were applied in a clean private room. I laid comfortable on the table and I actually fell asleep twice during the application of my lashes. Really relaxing music was playing.
